Two have already opened in 2026: the Corinthia, in the Bank of Italy’s palazzo, and Experimental, just off Via Veneto.

Rome’s new hotels open where money used to be counted. The Corinthia, in the Bank of Italy’s palazzo, has put its spa in the old vault, inspired by Roman baths;10 the Rosewood will do the same in the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro’s head office on Via Veneto.4 Experimental has taken a former bank on Via Ludovisi.11
In Rome, for now, the most coveted safe is the one you bathe in.
A little further on, the Mandarin Oriental will put 108 rooms and suites in 10 nineteenth-century villas in the Gardens of Sallust.12 The dates, meanwhile, keep moving: the Rosewood was due in 2023,13 the Mandarin Oriental in 2026,14 the Thompson in mid-2024.15

You won’t need a taxi: the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo are 8 minutes away on foot.
