I would come with few excursions planned and time for the patio, treatments and walks around the grounds. Daily sightseeing in Los Angeles calls for a different base; from this valley you would have to organise the journeys.

Is it for you?

For two, I would look at a Fireside Terrace Room and leave part of the evening for sitting outside. The fire pit matters more to me than a vast sitting room I barely use.

I’d ask for
A Fireside Terrace Room with the bed type confirmed.

Like a regular

An archway through Ojai Valley Inn’s gardens
  1. A little outdoor space

For the evening, I want somewhere to sit outside after dinner. I’d choose the room around that moment rather than pay for indoor space I would barely use.

  2. When I would compare dates

I would start with January for a stay spent mostly at the inn, then compare the same accommodation for spring dates before moving a whole trip around the calendar’s lowest figure.

  3. The charge to add

Add the $60 daily service charge and its 15% occupancy tax: $69 per room, per night. With several rooms, I would add it to each one.

What Ojai Valley Inn is

Ojai Valley Inn occupies 220 acres. Accommodation ranges from the original Wallace Neff building to fireplace rooms, patio villas and penthouses above the spa. Before comparing floor areas, decide where you want to spend time outside the room.

I would not start with the list of shared amenities. I’d look at the layout, bathroom and place where I imagine spending the evening; those are the parts of the room I will actually use.

I’d set aside part of the stay for treatments before filling the days. For the rest, I would leave time between a walk and returning to the room.

How we choose the hotels

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Ojai Valley Inn’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The grounds, surrounding mountains and peace make the city feel far away.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the room space and bath; proximity to the road also matters for a restful night.

  3. Staff and service

Spa visits and meals leave good memories when the team can give them attention; busy days bring reports of waiting.

  4. Breakfast

One guest remembers the breakfast server; another struggles to accept the wait for a table.

  5. Price

Guests questioning the bill focus on service and small extras.

365 guests said so on Google, from 5 November 2024 to 28 October 2026. Stored Google reviews dated from 4 November 2024; collections may stop at 300 or 2,000 reviews. The latest 500 with text, or every available text when fewer, are read the same way. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay among Southern California resorts: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 4 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Price: for 2, the night of 31 January 2027, from $586 on Google Hotels on 3 November 2026.
