Surya Mahal
The all-day restaurant, 7am to 10.30pm: Western, Mediterranean, Asian and Indian cooking, in the hall under the crystal chandelier or out in the courtyard.
The Oberoi Rajvilas in Jaipur is a 32-acre resort on the city’s eastern edge, with tents and villas with private pools among gardens, reflection pools and peacocks.
Rajvilas suits couples who want 3 or 4 nights of resort life and see Jaipur by car, with the lowest seller on Google showing a night for 2 adults from INR 48,906 in May and June 2027. For days spent walking into the bazaars, I would choose a base inside the walls.
Official site Rooms, tents and villasWould you go?
Keep it among your hotels and see it on the budget globe, month by month.
The Premier Room with Private Garden keeps the 42 m² room and adds a large garden with a daybed and a table for eating outside, 145 m² in all. I would ask for it for slow afternoons.
From 14 to 16 May 2027, single nights for 2 adults ranged from INR 49,014 to INR 50,252 on Google, read on 17 October 2026. The dearest night shown, 5 November 2026, was INR 187,448.
Nightly rates above INR 7,500 carry 18% GST on top. Guests staying on 24 or 31 December 2026 pay a compulsory meal supplement at the hotel: INR 14,000 and INR 19,000 per guest, each plus 18% tax.
The 21-metre pool keeps seasonal hours, 7am to 7pm in summer and 8am to 6pm in winter. On a winter stay I would swim before the 6pm close.
Rajvilas opened in 1997 on Goner Road, on Jaipur’s eastern edge, and belongs to EIH, the Oberoi group’s company. Pink walls, turrets and reflection pools recall a Rajasthani fort, but the stay is spent outdoors: 32 acres of lawns, the 21-metre pool with its elephant fountains, peacocks on the paths and, in the middle of a lotus pond, a Shiva temple that its plaque gives as 280 years old.
The 9 categories divide into rooms, tents and villas. Every Premier Room has 42 m² indoors, a four-poster bed and a sunken marble bath, and they differ outside: a patio, a private garden or a private pool. The tents have 45 m² under canvas, air conditioning and teak floors; the Royal Tent reaches 650 m² indoors and the Kohinoor Villa 1,057 m² across 3 buildings.
Evenings stay inside the resort. Surya Mahal serves international and Indian cooking from 7am to 10.30pm, in the hall or the courtyard; Raj Mahal, the Indian restaurant, is the seasonal one beside the outdoor fireplaces; Rajwada, remade in 2026, pours cocktails built on Rajasthan’s teas and spices from 5 to 11pm. The city means a car: 25 minutes to the City Palace, 38 to Amber Fort.

Distinctions
What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.
32 acres of gardens 8 km from the centre of Jaipur
An Oberoi resort designed like a Rajasthani fort, opened in 1997
9 categories, from 42 m² Premier Rooms to the 1,057 m² Kohinoor Villa
Surya Mahal all day, the seasonal Raj Mahal and the Rajwada bar
The Asmi spa for resident guests, the 21-metre pool and yoga in the gardens
Slow days between the pool, tea and the peacocks, with the city by car
What do The Oberoi Rajvilas’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Gardens, fountains and peacocks inside the resort’s walls; the old city is a drive away, and guests note that the approach road and the streets around belong to another Jaipur.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write of spacious, well-kept rooms, and those who slept in a tent praise its private pool.
Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests remember the arrival under rose petals, the staff by name and the cakes for birthdays and anniversaries; a few others write of slow service and a cool welcome.
Those who mention it remember a lavish buffet and attentive staff serving it.
Those who mention the bill are split: most write that the service is worth the money, while some call it one of the most expensive hotels in Jaipur.
On staff and service it shares first place with Fairmont Jaipur among the 5 hotels compared in Jaipur.
| What | Score out of 10 | Guests who mention it | Happy |

| Room | 8.0 | 62 | 92% |
| Staff and service | 8.7 | 229 | 95% |

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 19 March 2023 to 16 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Jaipur: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 17 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Jaipur:
Price: for two on the night of 23 June 2027, from 48,906 INR (seen on Google Hotels on 17 October 2026).
