Meliá Whale Lagoon Maldives is closed: a March 2027 return is planned

Meliá Whale Lagoon Maldives plans new 2-bedroom villas and a 4-bedroom Beach Residence. For 1–2 March 2027, the categories on sale have different names: before booking, settle which accommodation you will receive after the works.

Settle the date before choosing the new villa

For bookings affected by the closure, the hotel offers free cancellation and full refunds of prepaid reservations. Alternative arrangements are considered individually. If you have already paid, ask the channel you booked through to confirm the solution for your reservation and the refund timetable.1

The plans add private pools to selected categories, including Sunset Beach and Sunset Water villas. They also introduce 2-bedroom Beach and Water Villas and a 4-bedroom Beach Residence. Ask for the floor plan and confirmation of which accommodation will be ready for your dates.1

The initial programme allowed around 6 months of works from 16 August 2026. The October calendar then gave 1 March 2027 as the planned return. Confirm the day and the villa that will be ready for you: a scheduled date and a night on sale do not establish that every new accommodation category is complete.13
