For couples and families happy to stay on the motu, the Four Seasons has a kids’ club and nights from $1,790 for 2, the lowest seller price Google showed for a single night in January 2027. For the main pool and main beach, avoid 4 January–24 February 2027, when both close for works.

Like a regular

A terrace under string lights at dusk, overwater bungalows and the island’s peaks behind
  1. The bungalow to request

For the mountain view I would ask for the One-Bedroom Premier Mountain-View Overwater Bungalow Suite: 100 m² with a king bed and Otemanu straight ahead.

  2. January, with the works

In the calendar read on 13 October 2026, the week of 6–12 January 2027 runs from $1,790 to $1,792 a night, during the pool and beach works. The single night of 19 May 2027 shows $8,517.

  3. Budget for the flight

Book the 45-minute flight from Papeete to Bora Bora separately; some arrival or departure times may require a night on Tahiti. The bungalow’s airport boat is included in both directions.

  4. Reserve the village boat

Reserve the Vaitape boat in advance: places are limited and the schedule is fixed, leaving at noon and returning at 3.30pm. The crossing takes 30 minutes each way, so plan your lunch around the return.

What the Four Seasons is

The resort opened in September 2008 on Motu Tehotu, an islet on the outer reef, and it is still the only Four Seasons in French Polynesia (Wikipedia). There are 115 places to stay, 108 bungalows and 7 villas, according to the press fact sheet; a renovation of the whole resort, villas included, was completed in 2020 (Hospitality Plus). On 22 September 2026 the MICHELIN Guide renewed its 2 Keys.

The choice that matters is where you sleep. The 4 standard bungalow categories, all 100 m², have a deck with loungers and no pool; the 27 plunge-pool suites add a 3.4 × 2.4 metre freshwater infinity pool, temperature-controlled; the villas sit on the beach, from 253 to 800 m², with pools up to 18 metres long. Otemanu is promised only by the categories that name it: Beach-View and Lagoon-View face elsewhere (accommodation).

The official rate includes the boat transfer from Bora Bora airport, shared for the bungalows and private for the villas, and breakfast at Tere Nui (Four Seasons); the flight from Papeete is never included. Lunch and dinner are extra: in March 2024 one guest wrote of over $100 for lunch for 2 and over $200 for dinner. On Google Hotels, on 13 October 2026, the cheapest night was $1,791 (7 January 2027) and the dearest $8,517 (19 May 2027).

We read the 500 most recent Google reviews with text, written between June 2017 and 30 September 2026, out of the 916 on the listing; beside them, the scores on Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Expedia and the MICHELIN Guide, and more than 50 official pages. Honeymoons come up in 46 of those 500 reviews, averaging 4.8 stars. The resort is large: from the furthest bungalows reception and the restaurants are about 20 minutes on foot, and the buggy, called through the resort’s chat, is best booked 15 minutes ahead.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Four Seasons Bora Bora’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The lagoon under the deck and Otemanu across the water stay with people, as does the snorkelling in the Lagoon Sanctuary, the resort’s inner lagoon, with more than 100 species.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Big timber bungalows, with a tub facing the lagoon and a deck with loungers; some suites have a plunge pool on the deck, facing the lagoon and Otemanu.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Staff remember names and habits and greet guests by name; honeymooners notice.

  4. Breakfast

6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Tere Nui lays out a generous buffet, with eggs and crêpes made to order.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. The rate includes breakfast at Tere Nui and the boat from the airport; lunch, dinner and the flight from Papeete are paid for separately.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 9 June 2017 to 30 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Bora Bora: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 1 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

What a night costs, season by season

January to early March 2027 has nights from $1,790 to $2,744, but the main pool, main beach, Fare Hoa and Tere Nui close from 4 January to 24 February. I would look beyond those works for the full resort experience, and compare the exact dates before choosing May, when 19 May alone reaches $8,517.

Questions before you go

Sources read on 1 October 2026.

How much is a night at Four Seasons Bora Bora?

On Google Hotels, read on 1 October 2026 for 2 adults, the cheapest night in the following 12 months was $1,809 (7 January 2027) and the dearest $8,622 (19 May 2027). Other nights: $4,956 on 11 October and $2,545 on 19 October 2026, $6,028 on 11 November and $2,243 on 30 November, $5,214 on 31 December, $2,670 on 24 June 2027.

Monthly medians run from about $1,811 in January 2027 to $3,562 in October 2026; in summer (June to August 2027) they sit around $3,100. The cheapest months, January to March 2027, coincide with the works on the main pool and beach.

The calendar shows the cheapest category available that night and does not say whether taxes and service are included: an offer for a 2-bedroom villa from 5 to 8 October cost about $6,516 a night, against $3,562–5,050 on the calendar. The resort invoices in Pacific francs (XPF); breakfast and the airport boat are included, the flight from Papeete is not.

What does the rate include, and what does it leave out?

According to the resort, every rate includes the return boat transfer from Bora Bora airport and breakfast at Tere Nui; the resort fee charged on every reservation covers non-motorised water sports, by the booking engine read on 11 October 2026. The flight from Papeete to Bora Bora is never included. Google’s description says breakfast costs extra: that is wrong, and the same listing shows it as free among the amenities.

On taxes the official site says the rate “may or may not include” resort fees, service and taxes; its booking engine, read on 11 October 2026, applies a resort fee of 10% and a service charge of 5% of the room rate to all reservations and shows both inside the price, with taxes calculated at checkout. The only published schedule is in the terms for groups of 10 rooms or more (events): 5% VAT, regional taxes of 3.5% and 1.4%, a 5.65% service charge, a 10.99% resort fee and a city tax of XPF 200 a person a night, under-12s exempt. One travel adviser writes that the resort fee is already in the rates; Tripadvisor shows prices before tax.

Is there an all-inclusive or a meal plan?

There is no standing all-inclusive: breakfast is in the rate, for 2 guests per bungalow or 4 per 2-bedroom villa (Bed and Breakfast). Meals come with the offers: the Inclusive Plunge Pool Escape covers breakfast, lunch at Fare Hoa and a 3-course dinner, drinks excluded, for at least 2 nights; Beachfront Bliss in the villas gives every meal and soft drinks on its offer page, while the accommodations page lists daily breakfast for villas: have the plan confirmed in writing; Extended Stays add dinner from 10 nights, lunch and dinner from 20. One travel seller quotes 50% off the meal plan for children from 5 to 12.

How do you get from Papeete to the resort?

You land at Faa’a, in Papeete, French Polynesia’s only international airport, and take a domestic flight to Bora Bora: 45 minutes according to the resort, 50 according to Air Tahiti, with about 68 flights a week (FlightConnections). At the airport on Motu Mute the resort’s staff meet you and the boat takes 15 minutes. The domestic flight is booked separately and never included; depending on the timings, you may need a night on Tahiti. There are also helicopter flights from Tahiti.

Is the airport transfer included?

Yes, according to the resort: the boat is shared for the bungalows and private for the villas, which add a VIP welcome on Tahiti for up to 4 guests (villa). Google, Booking.com and Expedia list it as free. A third-party guide, in May 2026, described it instead as a paid service of about XPF 13,000 a person unless a package covers it (Wander in Paradise); the official pages read on 1 October 2026 say it is included with every stay.

How do you get to Vaitape, and what does it cost?

On the resort’s shuttle: it leaves at noon and returns from Vaitape at 3:30pm, Monday to Saturday all year, 30 minutes each way, XPF 4,000 a person, children included. It must be booked, and cancelling needs 24 hours’ notice. There is none on Sundays. The resort’s Location page still speaks of 2 sailings a day and 25 minutes, as reviews from 2018 and 2022 did; the page you book today shows one.

Does every overwater bungalow have a private pool?

No. The 4 standard categories (Beach-View, Lagoon-View, Mountain-View and Premier Mountain-View) have a deck with loungers and no pool. The 6 specialty categories have a plunge pool: the resort counts 27 suites with a 3.4 × 2.4 metre freshwater infinity pool, temperature-controlled. The villas are on land, with private infinity pools of 4 × 14 or 5 × 18 metres.

Which rooms look at Mount Otemanu?

Among the bungalows, the Mountain-View and the Premier Mountain-View (which faces it head-on), the Mountain-View with plunge pool, the Otemanu with plunge pool and the 2-bedroom Poerava; the 2-bedroom Herenui promises the lagoon. Among the villas, the One-Bedroom, Two-Bedroom Premier, Three-Bedroom Premier and Five-Bedroom name it (accommodation). Beach-View and Lagoon-View face the beach and the lagoon.

What kind of hotel is it, and how many rooms does it have?

A Four Seasons resort, opened in September 2008 and the group’s only one in French Polynesia, on a private motu reached only by boat or helicopter. It has 115 places to stay, 108 bungalows and 7 villas, all suites by the resort’s account, in 16 categories (press fact sheet). A renovation of the whole resort was completed in 2020. It holds 2 MICHELIN Keys, renewed on 22 September 2026, and Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best 2026.

We found no official star classification: Google shows 0 stars and Expedia prints “1.401298464324817E-45 stars”, a glitch in its system.

What are the restaurants, and when do they open?

Tere Nui serves breakfast from 7am to 10:30am; Arii Moana, Mediterranean, dinner from 5:30pm to 9:30pm; Fare Hoa, on the beach, is open from noon to 8:30pm, its bar from 10am; Vaimiti, over the water, cooks Asian from 5pm to 9:30pm, bar until 10:30pm; Oro’a is the evening of Polynesian dance and fire with a set menu, Tuesdays and Fridays from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. In-room dining runs at any hour (dining).

Of the menus online, read on 11 October 2026, only Oro’a’s set evening prints a price: XPF 17,900 per adult and XPF 8,950 per child. Canoe breakfast starts at XPF 32,000, a private beach dinner at XPF 94,900, one on a motu at XPF 197,800. In March 2024 a guest wrote of over $100 for lunch for 2 and over $200 for dinner; the press fact sheet still lists an Italian restaurant, Bella Vita, which the dining page no longer has. Holiday dinners are reserved for resort guests.

What is the spa like, and what do treatments cost?

Te Mahana Spa sits at the lagoon’s edge: walkways above the pandanus lead to 7 treatment rooms, 2 of them open-air pavilions, and to Fare Miti, the overwater suite for couples; the press fact sheet counts them differently, 7 indoor rooms plus 2 pavilions plus the suite. After a treatment there is a sauna, a steam room, 2 outdoor whirlpools and a vitality pool among the plants (spa).

Monoi massages of 50 to 80 minutes cost XPF 25,500 to 35,000, about €214 to €293 at the fixed rate of XPF 119.33 to the euro; the 120-minute rituals XPF 59,500 (Taurumi) and XPF 62,600 (Golden Sun, with 24-carat gold oil); 80-minute myBlend facials XPF 37,000 (massages, rituals). The products include monoi oil and black-pearl powder.

Is the spa included? And can you visit for the day?

Treatments are paid for. The site does not say whether the sauna, steam room and whirlpools can be used without a treatment; one guest, in October 2025, wrote that they are free. The spa facilities open at 9am, treatments run from 10am to 6pm, and are booked by phone (spa).

No day pass is published on the resort’s site. 2 Google reviews from March 2026 describe a day pass with the coral garden, the spa, paddleboards and lunch; a third-party guide reported in July 2026 an access pass at XPF 15,000 a person, boat, meals and spa extra, paused until 4 September 2026 (Off to Bora Bora). No source says whether it has resumed. Christmas and New Year dinners are for resort guests only.

What is the pool like, and is it heated?

There is one main infinity pool, outdoors, with thatched cabanas (amenities); at the spa, a vitality pool and 2 whirlpools. No source publishes the main pool’s size, depth, hours or heating. The plunge pools of the 27 specialty suites are temperature-controlled, and the lagoon stays between 27 and 29 °C all year (Tahiti Tourisme).

The main pool closes from 4 January to 24 February 2027 for works; meanwhile there is the Villa Beach Club pool.

Will there be works during my stay?

From 4 January to 24 February 2027, according to Expedia and Our Pacific, the main pool, main beach, Fare Hoa and Tere Nui close, with works from 8am to 5pm; the Villa Beach Club, the other beaches and the other restaurants stay open, with a €100 credit per room per night and free date changes within 12 months. The resort’s booking engine, read on 11 October 2026, gives the dates, the closures and the €100 credit; the working hours and the free date change come from third parties.

Booking.com also flags beach works from 6 to 22 December, without a year, beside an old COVID-19 notice. An unofficial guide, BoraBora.guide, has the pool reopening in November 2026: no other source confirms it, and the same sentence appears for another resort.

When is the best time to go? Is the resort open all year?

It is open all year, and no seasonal closure is published. The dry season runs from May to October; November to April is the wet and cyclone season, with the heaviest showers from December to February (Tahiti Tourisme, Tahiti Travel Services). The sea stays between 27 and 29 °C. On Google Hotels nights are cheapest from January to March 2027 (from $1,791) and dearest from June to August (from $2,651).

Is it good for children?

Yes. Children up to 17 stay free in their parents’ room, space permitting; a third adult pays a nightly fee.
