Soneva Fushi suits families who want a whole island: villas with pools, The Den children’s club included, and nights from $1,824 for 2, the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night, from 8 May 2027. A late flight into Malé suits it less: the last seaplane leaves at 5pm, so international flights should land by 3.30pm.

  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for the 1 Bedroom Soneva Fushi Family Suite with Pool: 360 m² close to the shore, with a private pool, a children’s room and a kitchenette. Its observation deck looks across to Eydhafushi, the neighbouring island.

  2. The weeks that cost less

Every night from 8 May to 7 September 2027 shows $1,824 for 2, the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night, read 12 October 2026. The dearest week, 29 March–4 April 2027, shows $3,264 a night.

  3. What comes on top

Villa rates carry 29.92% (10% service charge, 2% carbon offset tax, 17% GST) and a green tax of $12 per person per night. The shared seaplane costs $1,340 per adult return in 2027, or $980 in the shoulder season.

  4. The wine cellar, on request

Ask to see the wine cellar: the resort says its sommelier will pick the bottle for the evening. Guided tastings of exceptional vintages are among the experiences your Barefoot Butler can arrange.

What Soneva Fushi is

Soneva Fushi opened in 1995 on Kunfunadhoo, an island the Ministry of Tourism register lists as a resort since 1983 (official register); until 2012 it also carried the Six Senses name (Vogue). The island measures 1,400 by 400 metres (official site) and is crossed by bicycle, with bikes in every villa; shoes stay in the suitcase.

There are more than 60 island villas, from 145 m² for the Crusoe with Pool to 3,048 for the 9-bedroom Estate, and every one- and 2-bedroom villa has a pool (villas); over the water stand the 8 Water Reserves, of 585 and 857 m², with a slide into the lagoon (resort fact sheet). For families there is the Family Suite, 360 m² with a room for the children.

The Den, the club for children and teenagers, covers more than 1,365 m² with a pirate ship, 2 pools and a cinema, and is included from 4 to 17 (The Den). Evenings bring the Observatory and its resident astronomer, the open-air Cinema Paradiso and the glass studio, the only one in the Maldives (experiences).

The reef is a swim from the beach, from 4 access points (Mr & Mrs Smith); the fish are plentiful, the coral partly bleached (Luxury Explorer). The sunset side faces Eydhafushi, about 650 metres away (The Luxury Travel Expert), and carries its call to prayer (Tripadvisor). It holds 3 MICHELIN Keys and the Art of Hospitality award of the World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 (SCMP).

One Lume

Lumina Guide 2027

Gives more than the other hotels of its place and price range.

Soneva Fushi is Soneva’s first resort, opened in 1995: a jungle island you cross by bicycle and barefoot, with more than 60 villas and The Den, a children’s club of more than 1,365 m².

How Lumi are awarded

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

  2. Character

The first Soneva, since 1995: bare feet, jungle, 3 MICHELIN Keys.

  3. Rooms

Villas of 145 to 3,048 m², with pools from one bedroom up; 8 Water Reserves with slides. Rustic furnishing.

  4. Food and social life

More than a dozen restaurants and cheese, chocolate and ice-cream rooms open day and night.

  5. Wellness

Soneva Soul: journeys of 3, 7 or 14 days; treatment prices are not published.

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

What the badges are

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Soneva Fushi’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Kunfunadhoo is a jungle island in Baa Atoll, 30 minutes by seaplane from Malé: guests go round it barefoot and by bicycle, and snorkel on the reef, a swim from the beach.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Large, rustic villas in the jungle, those with one and 2 bedrooms all with a pool: guests write of the space and of the villas over the water, with a slide down into the lagoon.

  3. Staff and service

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Each villa has a butler, whom guests call their Barefoot Guardian or Mr or Ms Friday and thank by name: they write that a request never gets a no.

  4. Breakfast

Breakfast is included and served at Mihiree Mithaa, across several rooms, one for each kind of food, or in the villa at any hour: guests write of how much there is to choose from.

  5. Price

The rate includes breakfast and The Den, the children’s club; on top come taxes and service, a green tax of $12 a person a night and the seaplane, $1,300 return per adult in 2026.

The scores come from 165 Google reviews with text, left from 27 August 2012 to 9 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 4 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

Price: for two on the night of 8 May 2027, from $1,824 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

For 16 November 2026, the reading of 4 October showed the hotel’s own listing at $3,384 and the lowest seller at $3,095.
