The Retreat
2 timber storeys above the lagoon: Keyolhu restaurant, the bar that makes juices and cocktails from freshly pressed fruit, the pool, the boutique and a meeting room (the Retreat, dining).
Kudadoo Maldives Private Island, in the Maldives’ Lhaviyani Atoll: 15 overwater residences and an all-inclusive that covers the spa and the diving too.
A week here, month by monthKudadoo suits couples who want a small island where the all-inclusive covers wine, spa and diving, with a butler at any hour: the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night is $3,874 for 2 adults, between 12 and 14 December 2026. Anyone after a beach villa or a kids’ club will be happier elsewhere.
Official siteDoes it suit you?
5 pairs of hotels, and the guide tells you whether this one suits you.
For 2, I would ask for a one-bedroom residence, which measures 310 m², stands over the water and has a 44 m² private infinity pool. The island also has 2 residences with 2 bedrooms each, at 390 m².
In the calendar read on 12 October 2026 the cheapest week runs from 29 March to 4 April 2027: 7 nights from $4,762 to $4,958. The dearest night shown, 25 January 2027, is $9,010.
Gala dinners on 24 and 31 December are compulsory and sit outside the room rate. A 20% deposit confirms the booking, with the rest due 14 days before arrival; the owner’s wine cellar and the undersea restaurant on Hurawalhi are charged on top.
3 guests, writing between December 2021 and February 2026, describe a meal on the sister island of Hurawalhi, and the resort’s brochure lists access to Kashibo and Canneli there.
Kudadoo opened on 1 December 2018 (official site) on a small island in Lhaviyani Atoll beside Hurawalhi, the sister resort behind its “by Hurawalhi” signature (contact). Its 15 residences all stand over the water: 13 with one bedroom, of 310 m², and 2 with 2 bedrooms, of 390 m², each with a 44 m² infinity pool (residences). The architect Yuji Yamazaki designed them in timber from managed forests in Canada, New Zealand and Indonesia (residences).
The all-inclusive is called “Anything. Anytime. Anywhere.”: meals wherever and whenever you like, more than 80 wines and 6 Champagnes rated 88 or above by Wine Spectator, spa treatments, private diving, jet skiing, flyboarding and parasailing (official brochure). Left out are the owner’s cellar, private yacht hire, weddings, anything off the menu and 5.8 Undersea, Hurawalhi’s undersea restaurant (official brochure).
The heart of the island is the Retreat, 2 timber storeys over the water with Keyolhu restaurant, the bar, the pool, the gym, a sauna and a steam room; upstairs is Sulha Spa with the Lonu Cave, lined with Himalayan salt (the Retreat, spa). On its roof, 984 solar panels: the resort calls itself the Maldives’ only fully solar-powered private island (sustainability, official site).
It scores 4.8 out of 5 on Google from 131 reviews and 4.8 on Tripadvisor from 308 (Google Hotels, Tripadvisor). Condé Nast Traveller names it the resort to choose for all-inclusive (Condé Nast Traveller). Those who have stayed advise residences 2 to 8: from 9 to 15 the view takes in the inhabited island of Hinnavaru (The Resorts Collection).
Lumina Guide 2027
Kudadoo is a tiny island in Lhaviyani Atoll with 15 overwater residences and an all-inclusive that covers the spa, the diving and the excursions too.
Distinctions
What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.
Lhaviyani Atoll, about 40 minutes by seaplane; the reef starts under the residences.
15 residences, a solar-powered island, service built around the butler.
Residences of 310 and 390 m² with 44 m² pools; no beach villas.
Eat where and when you like; a cellar, a Cheese Room, 2 Hurawalhi restaurants.
Unlimited treatments, the salt room, a sauna, a steam room, a gym.
From $4,469 a night for 2 on Google, but nearly everything is in.
A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.
Here: 15 residences over the water in all, and a butler at any hour.
15 villas, from kudadoo.com. 15 hotels of 335 hold it.
Every hotel with this badgeWhat do Kudadoo’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
Guests write about the small, private island, the turquoise water and the reef beneath the residence’s deck.
Of the residences, guests describe the space, the private pool and the deck over the open sea.
Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. The butler is named in nearly every review, from arrival in Malé to departure.
Breakfast comes on a tray floating in the residence’s pool, or is taken at the Retreat; like every meal, it is ordered where and when you like.
Guests describe an all-inclusive with no limits, from meals and wine to massages, diving and jet skis.
On staff and service it comes ahead of the 3 other hotels it is compared with in the Maldives.
| What | Score out of 10 | Guests who mention it | Happy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Location | 9.0 | 17 | 94% |
| Room | 8.0 | 14 | 86% |
| Staff and service | 9.0 | 42 | 98% |
| Breakfast | 7.5 | 1 | 100% |
| Price | – | 11 | 82% |
The scores come from 75 Google reviews with text, left from 23 December 2018 to 30 August 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:
Price: for two on the night of 12 December 2026, from $3,874 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).
On 12 October 2026 Google showed nights for 2 from $3,874 on 12 to 14 December 2026, at $5,256 every night from 1 May to 6 September 2027, and from $7,249 to $8,642 between 28 December and 5 January. On the same 167 nights, 80 were at least 5% lower on 12 October than on 4 October and 64 at least 5% higher: I would ask the reservations team for its 25% offers: booked by 30 November 2026 for stays from 1 October to 26 December 2026, or booked direct before that day for an Ocean Pool Residence with arrival from 6 January to 31 October 2027.

From leaving customs in Malé to passport control on the way home, one guest writes, you do not lift a finger: the team walked him to the front of the seaplane queue.
A family who know many Maldives resorts: only here are meals and activities included at any hour, and their days ran from diving to fishing to massages.
In October 2023 a guest found the island under construction to fix erosion, with boulders moved by heavy machinery and days of noise; nobody had warned him before he landed.
