For families who want Baha Bay and a choice of restaurants within the resort, Google’s lowest seller price starts at $392 for one night for 2 adults. For a holiday centred on a small, quiet hotel, I would choose elsewhere.

Like a regular

The casino floor, empty: a crystal chandelier under a gilded ceiling, gaming tables with blue chairs, a patterned red carpet and tall windows onto the gardens.
  1. The room to request

I would ask for the 1 King Bed with Ocean View Balcony Deluxe, East: 44 m², a tub and a furnished sea-facing balcony. A guest writing in July 2023, after a third stay, preferred the East Tower décor.

  2. The less expensive week

In the calendar read on 13 October 2026, nights from 29 August to 4 September 2027 run from $392 to $421 when searched separately. The dearest priced night is 11 February 2027 at $1,317.

  3. Book your dinner tables

Book dinner before travelling: 3 guests writing between February 2025 and June 2026 advise reserving ahead. One suggests doing it before arriving; another says to plan particularly for busier periods.

What Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is

Baha Mar describes itself, in its own FAQ, as a $5.2 billion resort on Cable Beach: 3 hotels, a 100,000 square foot casino, a Jack Nicklaus golf course and, since May 2021, the Baha Bay water park. The Grand Hyatt is its centre and by far its largest hotel, with 1,800 rooms, 230 of them suites, in 2 towers, East and West. The Reserve, sold as a hotel within the hotel, takes the East Tower’s top floors and 23 villas by a pool.

What guests praise is the place itself: the beach and its clear water, 6 pools that never feel like one, Baha Bay, which several call a match for a stand-alone water park, and a choice of restaurants no other resort on the island comes near. Families return year after year, and individual members of staff are thanked by name.

It is a hotel to choose for its scale: 1,800 rooms, a casino to cross on the way to the pools and, in the school holidays, crowds in the water. Anyone after somewhere small and quiet will be happier elsewhere, or in The Reserve, which has its own entrance, check-in and lounge. Food and drink are paid for separately, with a 15% service charge and 10% VAT on every bill; the resort fee, cabanas and daybeds are charged too, while loungers and umbrellas are included.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

The Grand Hyatt is the centre of Baha Mar on Nassau’s Cable Beach: 1,800 rooms in 2 towers among 6 pools, with the Baha Bay water park included, a casino and more than 45 restaurants and bars.

How we choose the hotels

Those who come back

Among the hotel's regulars, a family writing in August 2026 says it returns for the service, amenities and memories made together. A guest writing after a fourth stay in March 2023 calls the water park and pools a highlight.

  • 15 of the 1187 reviews with text explicitly describe previous stays
  • From second to fourth stays stated explicitly
  • One guest writes of stays spanning 7 years

Both sets of returning-guest candidates were read; only reviews explicitly establishing earlier stays at this hotel are counted.

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

On Cable Beach, with the sea in front and the golf course behind; downtown Nassau is 7.1 km away and means a taxi.

  2. Character

A casino resort in Bahamian pastels, with Bahamian art on the walls, flamingos on parade each morning and fountains at night; in scale it is nearer Las Vegas than an island inn.

  3. Rooms

From 35 m² rooms to a 447 m² suite with its own pool; guests describe the space, the recent décor and the views of the sea or the fountains, and entry-level rooms may have a limited view or none.

  4. Food and social life

Marcus Samuelsson, Scott Conant’s Leola, Shuang Ba, a kosher grill and a jazz club under one roof, and more across the resort; guests like the cooking, and every bill adds a 15% service charge and 10% VAT.

  5. Wellness

A 30,000 sq ft ESPA with sauna, steam room and ice fountain, but only with a treatment of 50 minutes or more; the gym is included.

  6. The stay as a whole

Google: $408 to $966 a night to January 2027; fees and taxes add well over half to the room rate, and meals and drinks are extra.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Grand Hyatt Baha Mar’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Cable Beach and its clear water are out front, and the pools, Baha Bay, the restaurants and the casino are all a walk away; downtown Nassau is 7.1 km off, by taxi.

  2. Room

5 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. In the rooms, guests describe the space, the recent décor and the view, over the sea or over the fountains.

  3. Staff and service

At the front desk, in The Reserve and in the restaurants there is often a member of staff whom guests thank by name.

  4. Breakfast

6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is the buffet at Regatta, liked for its range, or Café Madeleine; at The Reserve it is included and served in the lounge, from 7:30am to 10am.

  5. Price

The resort fee covers the Baha Bay water park, loungers and umbrellas, kayaks and the gym; meals and drinks are paid for separately, with service and VAT on every order.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 14 May 2024 to 6 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Nassau: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 8 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Nassau:

  • SLS Baha Mar
  • Rosewood Baha Mar
  • Atlantis Paradise Island
  • Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau
  • The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort

Price: for two on the night of 16 August 2027, from $392 (seen on Google Hotels on 13 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

In the calendar read on 13 October 2026, each night from 29 August to 3 September 2027 costs $392 for 2 adults when searched separately; the dearest priced night is 11 February 2027 at $1,317. I would compare a full-stay quote before choosing those late-summer dates.

The lowest price any seller showed on Google Hotels for one night searched alone for 2 adults, read on 13 October 2026; no room or meal plan is named. The calendar stops on 7 September 2027. The $487 night on 28 April 2027 stands alone between dearer nights. In the earlier reading of 8 October 2026, the night of 9 October was $390 from the lowest seller; the hotel’s own listing showed $444 for 1 King Bed, including taxes and fees.

What to expect

6 pools between the towers and the sand, a water park next door, 3 chef’s restaurants and a jazz club on the casino floor.

6 pools, 6 moods

The pools for Grand Hyatt guests run from Dean’s Blue Hole, with waterfalls, rocks of 8 and 15 feet to jump from and a grotto window onto turtles and sharks, to Reflections, the quiet one. Fortune has the swim-up bar; Drift and Out Island draw families. Loungers and umbrellas are in the resort fee, cabanas and daybeds are paid for.

Baha Bay, with the room

Baha Bay is a 15-acre water park on the beach next door: 10 slides, a river, a FlowRider surf machine and a 500,000-gallon wave pool, by Hyatt’s count. Guests of the 3 hotels go in as often as they like; everyone else buys a day pass.

ESPA, above the beach

ESPA Baha Mar covers 30,000 square feet above the beach and opens from 9am to 8pm. The sauna, steam room, experience showers and ice fountain come with a treatment of 50 minutes or more, says the spa menu dated 9 July 2026, and are for over-18s.

Good to know before you book

  • Breakfast is not in the rate: it comes with the stay only at The Reserve, whose lounge serves a buffet from 7:30am to 10am, and for World of Hyatt members whose status carries it. Source: hyatt.com

  • The pools and Baha Bay close at sunset, says the hotel’s FAQ. Source: hyatt.com

  • 2 charges are added to every night: a resort fee of $76.00 a room, which the hotel’s policies say covers Baha Bay, beach and pool seating with umbrellas, kayaks, paddleboards and the gym, and a service charge of $21.78, tax included, paid out to staff as a gratuity. Hyatt’s French booking page still shows a fee of $65 plus tax.

  • Nothing is paid in cash: purchases go on the room or a card, and at check-in the card is authorised for $200 a night against incidentals. In Google reviews guests report a 15% service charge and 10% VAT on every restaurant and bar bill; between December 2025 and October 2026, 8 reviews describe wrong charges on the final bill.

  • The Reserve has its own entrance, opposite the Rosewood’s, its own check-in and a lounge with breakfast from 7:30am to 10am, snacks through the day and wine with canapés from 5pm to 7pm. Butlers, from 7:30am to 10pm, come only with its 2-bedroom residences and villas.

  • The cheapest rooms may look at nothing much: the official FAQ says entry-level rooms offer «limited or no views». Fountain-view rooms face inland over the show lake, and a furnished balcony is a category of its own; most rooms have a Juliet balcony.

  • Rooms are serviced every other day unless you ask for daily service. On rollaway beds the hotel says 3 things: $65 once, in one- and 2-bedroom suites only (FAQ); $50 a day (2 residence pages); not available at all (the booking engine’s notice).

  • Children of 12 and under stay at no charge and those of 5 and under eat free at selected restaurants. The Explorers Kids Club takes ages 3 to 12, potty-trained, «for a fee» that the official pages do not print.

  • In the rainy months staff call everyone out of the sea, the pools and the water park when it thunders, as reviews of September 2026 describe. For named storms Hyatt publishes a «Hurricane No-Risk Guarantee», set out in the questions further down.

  • Dogs are welcome, up to 50 lb each and 2 to a room, for a cleaning fee of $250 for 1 to 6 nights or $300 for 7 or more, with 3 days’ notice. They may not enter restaurants, pool areas, the gym or the golf course.

  • Between November 2023 and April 2026, 10 Google reviews describe mould in the room, most often in the shower; between December 2023 and October 2026, 10 mention stained sheets or bedcovers.

A Las Vegas casino on the beach

After 5 days in January 2026 a guest described «a high end Las Vegas casino» set on a beach, with the casino at the centre and shops and restaurants around it: great facilities, plenty of pools and activities outside, and no island feel. Their one large complaint was service, which did the minimum; at the pools and on the beach it was slow.

Pool hours

On a fifth stay, in a school holiday week of February 2026, a guest still loved the resort and gave 4 stars. The pools closed at 5pm with daylight left, towels were not handed out before 9am, and at the Fortune pool the chairs they rented at $100 each a day never saw a waiter.

Staff and prices

A September 2026 guest found a beautiful, family-friendly place and gave it one star. Staff showed no interest, they wrote; on the beach, of 12 paddleboards only 2 were put out, so guests queued; and a banana or a plain bagel cost $8.

Thunder empties the pools

A 4-star review of September 2026 calls it a «Vegas style hotel» with nicely renovated rooms and a superb water park for children. Its warning is about the rainy months from July to October: when it thunders, staff whistle everyone out of the sea and the pools and the water park shuts. Pizza Lab and The Swimming Pig were the kinder bills.

Questions before you book

What people ask before booking Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, answered from sources read on 8 October 2026.

What kind of hotel is Grand Hyatt Baha Mar?

It is the largest of the 3 hotels of Baha Mar, a casino resort on Cable Beach in Nassau, on the island of New Providence; the other 2 are SLS Baha Mar and Rosewood Baha Mar. The resort’s own page counts 1,800 guest rooms at the Grand Hyatt, 230 of them suites, and Hyatt’s FAQ «over 1,800 rooms and suites»; they stand in 2 towers, East and West.

Guests of any of the 3 hotels use the same casino, beach, restaurants, golf course and Baha Bay water park, and can charge food and drink anywhere in the resort to their room. It is a family resort by Hyatt’s own description, takes dogs, and is not all-inclusive. Hyatt places it in category 7 of its loyalty programme.

What are the rooms like?

The official list has 37 types. Standard rooms measure 35 to 44 m², with a king or 2 queens, a rain shower, a minifridge, a Keurig coffee maker and Balmain toiletries; East Tower «Deluxe» rooms add a soaking tub. All have floor-to-ceiling windows, but only the «Balcony» categories have a furnished balcony.

West Tower residences, 95 to 232 m² with one to 3 bedrooms, have a full kitchen, a full-size fridge and a washer and dryer. The Reserve, in the East Tower and in 23 poolside villas, goes up to the 447 m² Chairman Suite with a private pool. Rooms have smart TVs for your own streaming accounts and free Wi-Fi.

Where is it, and is it quiet?

At 1 Baha Mar Boulevard on Cable Beach, on the north shore of New Providence, west of downtown Nassau. Hyatt’s page puts the Straw Market 3.45 miles away; on our route Prince George Wharf, at the foot of downtown, is 7.1 km and about 10 minutes by car. Goodman’s Bay, the public beach next along, is 16 minutes on foot.

It is a lively resort, with 1,800 rooms and a casino: in the Google reviews guests describe crowds at the pools in school holidays and sound carrying between rooms. The calmer corners are the Reflections pool and, for those who book it, The Reserve.

How far is it from Nassau airport, and what does the transfer cost?

Lynden Pindling International Airport is 6 miles away by the hotel’s parking page, 7 miles, or 12.8 km and 14 minutes, on its fact sheet, and a 10-minute drive in the resort’s FAQ. Measured on OpenStreetMap’s roads from the hotel’s door the route is 12.4 km and takes about 22 minutes with no traffic.

A taxi costs $25 to $40 each way, more with extra passengers and luggage, and many take cash only. The hotel runs no shuttle: paid private cars are booked ahead through the concierge. Leaving for the United States, you clear US customs in Nassau, and the airport offers Mobile Passport Control and a fast-track service.

Is there parking?

Yes, and self-parking is free: the lot is beside the convention centre. Valet costs $25 with in-and-out privileges and is paid by debit or credit card; the FAQ adds room charges, the parking page excludes them, and a restaurant visit does not validate it.

There is no car hire at the resort; Avis, Hertz and Budget work from the airport. Visitors may drive on their home licence for up to 3 months, on the left.

Is the hotel on the beach, and are sunbeds included?

Yes. The resort sits directly on Cable Beach, with more than half a mile of sand by its fact sheet, and its FAQ says the pools and beach are kept for guests of the 3 hotels: no day passes are sold. The resort fee covers «beach and pool setup and seating with umbrellas», sunscreen at the towel huts and kayaks, paddleboards, water hammocks and mats.

Jet boards, Seabobs and other motorised craft are charged. So, guests report, are reserved chairs in the best positions: $100 a chair a day at the Fortune pool in February 2026, and cabanas from $99 to $325 a day in August 2026. The free loungers in the shade go early in busy weeks.

What are the pools like?

Grand Hyatt guests have 6, all outdoors and each named: Dean’s Blue Hole, Drift, Elixir, Fortune, Out Island and Reflections. The resort’s page describes them one by one: a jumping rock and a grotto at Dean’s Blue Hole, a shallow circular pool with an island at Elixir, a waterfall, a Jacuzzi and the H2O swim-up bar at Fortune, whirlpools and a sea view at Out Island.

The numbers vary by page: 6 on Hyatt’s activities page, 8 on its home page and fact sheet, which adds «an adult only pool», 10 in one offer, which counts the whole resort. SLS and Rosewood have pools of their own, the Rosewood’s 2 for its guests only. Baha Bay, with its wave pool and slides, is separate and included.

Are the pools heated, and when do they close?

The hotel’s FAQ says the pools and Baha Bay are open all year and close at sunset, which moves with the season. Guests report earlier hours: pools cleared at 5pm in February 2026 and at 6pm in May 2026, with pool bars closing at 5pm and towels handed out from 9am.

Nothing official says whether the water is heated. A guest in December 2025 and another in April 2026 found the pools heated; one in November 2024 found the main pools cold and the water park warmer.

Where can you eat, and is there a dress code?

The resort counts more than 45 restaurants, bars and lounges; Hyatt’s dining page lists 36 of them, including some inside SLS and Rosewood. At the Grand Hyatt itself: Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House, Leola by Scott Conant (dinner, Wednesday to Sunday), Shuang Ba (dinner daily), Cinko Asian Latino Grill, the Regatta buffet, Stix Noodle Bar (noon to 10pm), Vibe BBQ (11am to 9pm), Pizza Lab (8am to midnight) and The Swimming Pig pub (7am to 2am).

Cinko and the Knosh truck are kosher, certified by Chabad of The Bahamas, with Shabbat meals to be booked by Thursday noon. Room service runs 24 hours. Tables are reserved online, and guests advise doing so weeks ahead. On dress, the resort’s FAQ asks for resort wear by day and shoes and cover-ups in the casino, lobbies and indoor spaces; Hyatt’s page files its restaurants under «casual» or «smart casual».

Is it all-inclusive, and is breakfast included?

No. Rates are for the room, and no half-board or all-inclusive plan appears on the hotel’s pages or in the booking engine as read. Breakfast is part of the stay only in The Reserve, whose lounge serves a buffet from 7:30am to 10am, and for World of Hyatt members whose status carries it.

Everyone else pays as they go: the Regatta buffet was $44 a head, $25 for under-14s, plus service and VAT, according to a guest in August 2026. Children of 5 and under eat free at selected restaurants with a paying adult, and one offer on sale adds a food and drink credit.

What is the spa like?

ESPA Baha Mar is the resort’s main spa, shared by all 3 hotels: 30,000 square feet, about 2787 m², above the beach. Hyatt’s page counts 24 treatment rooms and the resort’s page 22. The menu lists changing rooms with sauna and steam room, a mixed area with experience showers, a second sauna and steam room and an ice fountain, relaxation areas, a nail salon and a boutique.

The fitness centre beside it has grown to more than 10,000 square feet, with Technogym machines, free weights, a studio and cardio equipment facing the sea. The Rosewood has a second spa, Sense.

Is spa access included, and is there a day pass?

The gym is: the resort fee covers the ESPA fitness centre, and some classes are free. The sauna, steam rooms and relaxation areas are not. The menu opens them to anyone «scheduling a 50 minute or more spa service».

No day pass for the wet areas is published. People not staying at Baha Mar may book treatments at ESPA and at Sense, says the resort’s FAQ, which sells no passes for the pools or the beach. Spa facilities are for over-18s; teenagers of 13 to 17 may use the gym with an adult.

What are the spa and gym hours, and do you need to book?

ESPA opens from 9am to 8pm every day. Treatments are booked online, by telephone on 242-788-7800 or by email, and guaranteed with a card; the spa asks you to arrive 15 minutes early, and charges in full for a treatment not cancelled 24 hours ahead.

A place in a free fitness class is reserved the same way. The gym’s own hours are not on the pages read.

Which treatments are there, and what do they cost?

The menu dated 9 July 2026 lists massages, facials, body and nail treatments with ESPA products, and newer machine treatments such as Endermologie and Hydrafacial. The Inner Calm Massage costs $180 for 50 minutes and $250 for 80, the Hot Stone Massage $200 and $265, the Deep Muscle Massage $195 and $265, and a 50-minute Inner Beauty Facial $190.

Prices are in Bahamian dollars, and a 20% service charge and VAT are added to every bill. Outside the spa, Flamingo Yoga costs $100 plus VAT and studio classes $30 plus 10% VAT.

Is it good for children?

It is built for them. Baha Bay has a children’s island as well as slides and a river, the sanctuary keeps turtles, nurse sharks and stingrays, the flamingos parade at 9:30am, and there are a playground with a giant wooden octopus, an 18-hole mini golf course at $25 a head plus VAT, free for under-6s, and the Game Zone arcade, open from 10am to 11pm.

Children of 12 and under share the room at no charge; cots and high chairs are supplied on request, and the Family Suite has bunk beds. The Explorers Kids Club is for ages 3 to 12 and is paid, as are babysitting and the animal encounters, which have their own age limits.

2 cautions from guests: the casual places to eat shut at 5pm, so dinner needs a booking, and thunder closes the water.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs only, with 3 days’ notice: one of up to 50 lb or 2 of up to 75 lb together. The policy sets a cleaning fee of $250 for a stay of 1 to 6 nights and $300 for 7 or more, and a card is held against damage.

Dogs must be settled by 9:30pm and walked in set areas. Housekeeping enters only when the owner is in the room, and restaurants, the pools, the gym and the golf course are closed to pets; service animals are the exception.

What else does the resort have?

The casino: 100,000 square feet, which the resort calls the largest in the Caribbean, with 1,100 slot machines, more than 100 tables and a sports book, for over-18s. Then the John McEnroe Tennis Center, open 8am to 8pm, with hard and clay courts and pickleball, Mini Blue, basketball, bocce and croquet, and The Current, a gallery of more than 2,500 Bahamian works.

The Yeshiva Winter Break offer takes 15% off stays of 5 nights or more and adds a $350 credit. A Gold Weekend Package bundles 2 passes to the Bahamas Culinary & Arts Festival of 21 to 25 October 2026.

The weddings page offers a waterside chapel that seats 100 in pews or 150 on chairs, ceremonies on Cable Beach, 2 gazebos, one of them for 2 to 10 people, 13 lawns, terraces and gardens, and the convention centre’s 3 ballrooms, the largest for 3,000 guests. Catering comes in 5 styles, and kosher menus are available.

No prices are published: the page takes requests for a quote, and the team answers on +1 242 788 7339. World of Hyatt members who marry here earn points towards honeymoon nights.

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner or party?

The resort holds one each year, but the 2026 edition had not been announced: its holiday page still described the last one, a New Year’s Eve Spectacular with a concert by Sean Paul after a pre-party called Taste of Baha Mar, and a children’s party from 6:30pm to 1:30am at $150 before service and VAT.

What is certain is the booking rule. For 31 December the hotel’s booking engine answers that the dates need a stay of at least 3 nights; the 4 nights from 29 December to 2 January came to $1,420 a night, fees in and taxes out, for the entry room.

Does the hotel offer golf?

Royal Blue, the resort’s Jack Nicklaus Signature course, has 18 holes and a par of 72, across the road. A free shuttle leaves the Grand Hyatt’s drive every 15 minutes and takes 3 minutes, says the resort’s FAQ; the pro shop opens from 7am to 6pm and tee times are booked online.

None of the hotel’s 5 offers is a golf package, and green fees are not on the pages read.

Is it open all year, and what about hurricane season?

Yes. There is no seasonal closure and no works notice on the official pages, and the booking engine sold the nights we asked for in November, December and January. Single venues do shut: The Studio café was marked temporarily closed, and several restaurants listed closed evenings in October.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, by the US National Hurricane Center. Hyatt’s Hurricane No-Risk Guarantee applies to direct bookings: if a hurricane watch or warning is issued for New Providence or for your home within 7 days of your planned departure, you may cancel for a full refund or rebook without fees, and guests who leave early because of a storm are refunded the unused nights.
