I would go to the Trois Couronnes for the lake and the bar: the Bar Anglais looks over Lake Geneva from 11am to 11pm, and in early December 2026 a night for 2 starts at CHF 316. If you want a design hotel, a newer address will suit you better.

Breakfast on a balcony facing the lake
  1. The Junior Suite Lake

I would ask for a Junior Suite Lake: 40–50 m² facing south, with a sitting area and usually a balcony over the lake and the Alps. If you can do without a balcony, the top-floor Superior Lake Room has the same area.

  2. Autumn nights

From 11 to 15 November 2026 a night for 2 costs CHF 319, each taken alone, and from 16 to 18 December it stays between CHF 316 and CHF 318. On 31 December 2026 a night reaches CHF 563.

  3. What comes on top

Outdoor parking costs CHF 35 a night and a dog CHF 30. Tourist tax adds just over CHF 6 a day from age 16, and breakfast, when the rate leaves it out, CHF 42 per person.

  4. Chasselas in the room

A welcome in the room is ordered before arrival: a half-bottle of Chasselas costs CHF 32, and a personalised cake starts at CHF 30. I would ask the reservations team a few days ahead.

What the Trois Couronnes is

Guests go home talking about the view and the lakeside setting; they are cooler about the bill, so I would look at the offers. Hotel Credit adds CHF 100 to spend in the hotel, and there are 4 nights for the price of 3.12

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Trois Couronnes’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about the lake and the Alps outside the windows and about exploring Vevey on foot.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the spacious rooms and the lake view, sometimes with a large terrace; some find the style dated.

  3. Staff and service

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Staff come across as attentive and friendly, dogs included; some guests describe a cool welcome and waits in the restaurant.

  4. Breakfast

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast wins guests over with its choice, and some call it the best moment of the stay.

  5. Price

Those who mention the bill find it high for the welcome and the restaurant; those who praise it cite the rooms and the spa.

500 guests said so on Google, from 3 April 2015 to 17 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Vevey and on the Lake Geneva Riviera: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 20 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Vevey and on the Lake Geneva Riviera:

Price: for 2, the night of 22 December 2026, from 315 CHF on Google Hotels on 20 October 2026.

What a night costs, period by period

I would choose November or the first half of December, when a night for 2 starts at CHF 316. From 1 to 17 July 2027, by contrast, a night runs from CHF 706 to CHF 1,075.

The terrace under its awnings, towards the lake

The Sunday Late Breakfast

On Sundays, from noon to 2.30pm, the Late Breakfast lays out breads, eggs to order, waffles and a glass of Prosecco, at CHF 69. I would keep it for the last day.1

The Le 3C dining room

Lunch at Le 3C

Le 3C is a brasserie with a Mediterranean bent, from the club sandwich to perch fillets, daily from noon to 2pm and 7pm to 10pm.12

Before booking

What kind of hotel is the Trois Couronnes?

A 5-star hotel classified by HotellerieSuisse, opened in 1842: the third oldest palace in Switzerland. It has 71 rooms, including 16 Executive Suites and 9 Junior Suites, and half of them face south over the lake and the Alps.123

What does a night cost?

Google Hotels, read on 20 October 2026 for 2 adults, shows CHF 318 on 14 December 2026, CHF 471 on 12 January 2027 and CHF 597 on 14 August 2027; 31 December 2026 costs CHF 563.1

What are the rooms and suites like?

The categories on sale all face the lake: from the 30–40 m² Deluxe Lake View to the 155 m² Tchaikovsky Imperial Suite with a 90 m² terrace. The Superior Lake Room, on the top floor, is larger than the Deluxe but has no balcony. I would take a Junior Suite Lake, 40–50 m² with a sitting area. The style is classic throughout.12345

Where would I have dinner and a drink?

Le 3C is the brasserie, open daily from noon to 2pm and 7pm to 10pm; Kaiseki by Manabu serves Japanese kaiseki from Tuesday evening to Saturday. The Bar Anglais is open daily from 11am to 11pm, with house cocktails, a Lavaux Chasselas and a short menu from noon to 10pm. On Sundays there is the Late Breakfast at CHF 69.123

Is breakfast included?

It depends on the rate. The buffet is served from 7am to 10am in the restaurant and in the room until 11am; without it in the rate it costs CHF 42 from age 12, CHF 25 for ages 8 to 11, and children up to 7 eat free.1

What is the spa like?

The Puressens spa has the 24-metre indoor pool at 28°C, a 34°C hot tub, a steam room, a sauna and a gym with a terrace on the lake. Treatments use Oskia London and run daily from 9am to 6pm.12

Is the spa included, and can outside guests come?

For hotel guests it is included, from 6.30am to 10pm, with the gym and classes; children use it from 9am to 11am and 4pm to 6pm. Visitors come in from 9am to 8pm, with a Puressens club membership.123

What is the pool like?

It is indoors, 24 metres long and heated to 28°C, with a 34°C hot tub beside it. Hotel guests can use it from 6.30am to 10pm, children from 9am to 11am and 4pm to 6pm.1

Can you hold a wedding or a private event here?

Yes. Wedding packages start at 50 people, and the banquet room with its private terrace holds up to 150 guests; the 7 function rooms take from 10 to 250 people. As a spending marker, the 2025 New Year’s Eve dinner cost CHF 350 per person.123

What do guests say?

On Google, 188 of the 193 guests who mention the location speak well of it, and 117 of the 135 who mention their room praise it. They are cooler about the bill: 21 of the 33 who talk about it find it high.1

Is there parking?

Yes: outdoors, at CHF 35 a night subject to space, with a valet. Electric charging costs CHF 15 up to half a charge and CHF 30 beyond.12

Where is it, and is it quiet?

On the Vevey waterfront at Rue d’Italie 49, 5 minutes on foot from the old town and 10 from the station; Montreux is 6.5 km away and Geneva Airport 88 km. For a quiet night I would ask for the upper floors on the lake, such as the top-floor Superior Lake Room.123

Is it open all year?

Yes: nights are on sale in every month from October 2026 to September 2027, and the bar is open all year.12

What else is there?

The Puressens spa with its gym and classes, 7 function rooms, some with a lake terrace, room service, laundry and a multilingual concierge. A limousine transfer from Geneva starts at CHF 350 for 2.12

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

Yes: for New Year’s Eve 2025 the dinner cost CHF 350 per person with a welcome aperitif, a piano and voice duo and a photobooth; wine pairing added CHF 105, and the children’s menu up to age 11 cost CHF 80.1

Are there special offers?

Yes: 4 nights for the price of 3, 5 for 4 and 7 for 5; Hotel Credit with CHF 100 per room to spend in the hotel; Pure Relax for the spa and Birthday for a celebration for 2.1

Which room would I choose with children?

With one child a room is enough: rooms take up to 3 guests, with CHF 90 a night for the extra bed from 12 to 16. With 2 children I would take a Belle Epoque Lake Suite, 60–80 m² with a separate living room and bedroom.123

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs, at CHF 30 a night; the hotel provides a mattress, bowls and a few treats.1

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by noon.1

Still choosing?

The Belle Époque façade facing Lake Geneva

Grand Hôtel du Lac

The 1868 Belle Époque façade looks straight out over Lake Geneva from the Vevey quay. I would book a lake-view Deluxe with a balcony facing the French Alps, and keep one evening for Emotions.

The Bellevue Suite bedroom, with the Jet d’Eau beyond the balcony door

Hôtel d’Angleterre

At the d’Angleterre I would choose the Bellevue Suite: 70 m² with a balcony on the lake, and the Jet d’Eau in the doorway. There are 45 rooms on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the Leopard Bar has live music 6 nights a week.

The hotel façade at dusk, its sign lit in the Old Town

Hôtel Les Armures

Les Armures is a 17th-century house one minute from St Peter’s Cathedral. Its 32 rooms share the house with Geneva’s oldest café, where the evening means a moitié-moitié fondue.

The lounge with the fire lit and the murals of the city

Hôtel de la Cigogne

At La Cigogne, on Place Longemalle, the lounge fire is lit on winter evenings beneath murals of the city. Its 49 rooms are all different, a short walk from the lake and the Old Town.

An open French window onto the balcony, with the lake and the Jet d’Eau

Beau-Rivage Genève

At the Beau-Rivage I would choose the Junior Suite Lake View Panorama: 45 m² facing the Jet d’Eau, with balconies. There are 95 rooms and suites on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the same family has run the house since 1865.

The Dolder Grand from the air at sunset: the turreted 1899 building between its two curved modern wings, on the wooded hillside above Zurich

The Dolder Grand

Curhaus towers above Zurich, art in the corridors and warm water facing the city.

The Belle Époque façade on Rue du Grand-Chêne: red awnings, wrought-iron balconies and the carved gable above the columned entrance porch lettered “Lausanne-Palace”, with flags; the brasserie’s green awning on the left

Lausanne Palace

Lausanne climbs behind the palace; from the right rooms, the lake appears beyond the rooftops.

Steam rising in the morning from the outdoor sports pool, with frost on the shrubs and the garden, the chalet wings with their wooden balconies on the right and rocky peaks against a clear sky on the left

ERMITAGE Wellness- & Spa-Hotel

In Schönried the brine pool runs outdoors; inside, the Stuben and cake table slow the day.

The palace lit up at blue hour in winter, its towers above the snow-covered chalet roofs of Gstaad, with ski slopes on the mountain behind

Gstaad Palace

The palace Gstaad looks up to, from fondue in an old vault to music at GreenGo.

The Alpine Spa’s outdoor infinity pool at dusk: two bathers at the edge, a lit fountain bowl, and the lake and its shores under a pink and violet sky

Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa

From boat to ridge, Lake Lucerne returns in the view from the warm pool.

The view over the hotel’s roofs in summer: flags over the park, the Schanzengraben canal lined with boats, and Lake Zurich with the Alps on the horizon

Baur au Lac

A park between city and lake, Le Hall under glass and Zurich just beyond the trees.

The tower and green roofs of Badrutt’s Palace under a pale pink sky, with a Swiss flag and the snow-covered Engadin mountains behind.

Badrutt’s Palace Hotel

163 rooms and suites in the Badrutt family’s towered grand hotel of 1896, with 11 restaurants, 2 pools and Via Serlas at the door; open in winter and summer
