An indoor swim
The indoor pool measures 12×6 metres, with a jacuzzi, sauna and hammam nearby. For a swim I would avoid 18–29 January 2027 inclusive, when the wellness facilities are closed.12
Lake Geneva stretches to the Alps beyond the Junior Suite balcony. I would choose those 45 m² at Royal Plaza and leave an afternoon for the indoor pool; someone wanting more contemporary bedrooms may prefer another hotel.
A week here, month by monthI would leave the lake for the balcony and the pool for the afternoon: my choice at Royal Plaza would be the 45 m² Lakeview Junior Suite. The hotel’s calendar starts at CHF 158 for 2 on 23 November 2026. If you want contemporary furnishings, I would choose another hotel.

I would choose Lakeview Junior Suite: 45 m², a living area and a furnished lake-facing balcony. White Junior Suite has the same area, but a small terrace on the second floor and a double bed.
From 22 to 24 November 2026 a night for 2 runs from CHF 158 to CHF 159, each taken on its own. I would start with those dates; on 31 December a single night reaches CHF 781.
I would allow CHF 25 per 24 hours for parking, or CHF 40 during Jazz Festival. Pets cost CHF 29 a day up to 10 kg, CHF 49 if larger; a mat, bowl and treat are provided.
I would choose the American buffet at Café Bellagio from CHF 30, served 7am–10am. For something lighter, Sunset Bar has the CHF 15 Express buffet, with bread, pastries, cereals, juice and hot drinks.

What do Royal Plaza Montreux’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe walking straight onto the lakeside promenade, then spending time on the balcony looking over the lake and mountains.
5 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the balconies and space; others find the furnishings, carpets and finishes dated.
7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. One guest describes an arrival made easier by the valet, another praises room service. Others report late-night music from the bar.
6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Some praise the generous buffet and attentive staff; others want more variety from day to day.
Some find the price good for staying by the lake; others find rooms and furnishings too dated for the rate.

497 guests said so on Google, from 22 January 2023 to 17 October 2026. 497 eligible texts from 2023–2026: overnight stays, dining, spa and use of Royal Plaza shared facilities. These are not all overnight stays. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
Price: for 2, the night of 23 November 2026, from 158 CHF on Google Hotels on 19 October 2026.
I would choose 22–24 November 2026, when individual nights for 2 cost CHF 158–159. 31 December reaches CHF 781.

In warm weather I would choose a terrace table at Café Bellagio. Dinner begins 7pm; January–March last orders are 9pm, half an hour earlier than usual.1

Sunset Bar and the lobby have board games, from Trivial Pursuit to Mikado. I would keep a table here for family time, with the lake beyond the windows.1
Montreux station is about a 10-minute walk away. The Riviera Card that overnight guests receive gives free regional travel between Vevey and Villeneuve on VMCV buses and CFF trains.12
On 2–17 July 2027 the Jazz Festival is immediately outside the hotel, with evening and night noise audible in rooms. For a quiet holiday I would choose other dates.1
Guest parking costs CHF 25 per 24 hours, or CHF 40 during Jazz Festival. Pets up to 10 kg cost CHF 29 a day, larger pets CHF 49.1
