Roast at Maison 1913
Maison 1913 is the palace’s rôtisserie, open daily from noon to 10.45pm. For a cocktail without booking there is the Lounge, open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.1
In Villars you can swim outdoors in January: the Palace heats its pool to 30°C. I would book a south-facing Panorama room with a balcony and leave the forest side to others.
A week here, month by monthAt Villars Palace I would pick winter: the train to the slopes is a short walk away, breakfast is included and at the end of November 2026 a night for 2 starts at CHF 305. If you want a large room without paying for a suite, a chalet in the village will suit you better.

Keep it among your hotels and see it on the budget globe, month by month.
I would ask for the Junior Suite Panorama: 44–48 m² on the top floor, with a private balcony facing south over the mountains and valley. On a smaller budget I would keep the same side with the 34 m² Superior Panorama.
From 29 November to 1 December 2026 a night for 2 runs from CHF 305 to CHF 306, each taken alone, and from 12 to 19 December between CHF 306 and CHF 319. On 27 February 2027 a night reaches CHF 915.
Tourist tax is added to the bill: just under CHF 4 per adult per night and just under CHF 2 for children aged 6 to 15. Outdoor parking is booked in advance and costs CHF 30 a night per car.
There is no minibar in the room; instead each floor has a small room with coffee, water and soft drinks on the house. 3 guests describe it as a good choice.

What do Villars Palace’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the Alpine view from the pool and the balconies, and about the train to the slopes a short walk away.
7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests like the beds and the balconies; some find the bathrooms and entry-level rooms small, and in summer the rooms run warm without air conditioning.
8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Staff come across as kind and attentive, with touches for birthdays and anniversaries; some guests describe waits on arrival and slow service in the restaurant.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The buffet wins guests over with local produce, eggs cooked to order and gluten-free options.
Those who mention the bill find it high for small rooms and bar prices; one guest writes that the view is worth it.

272 guests said so on Google, from 25 June 2022 to 13 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Villars-sur-Ollon and Gstaad: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 20 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Villars-sur-Ollon and Gstaad:
Price: for 2, the night of 28 November 2026, from 289 CHF on Google Hotels on 20 October 2026.
I would go after the holidays: from 3 January to 11 February 2027 a night for 2 starts at CHF 337. Between 25 December and 2 January it never drops below CHF 511.
| Period | CHF a night |
|---|---|
| 20 Oct–24 Dec 2026 | 289–529 |
| 25 Dec 2026–2 Jan 2027 | 511–725 |
| 3 Jan–11 Feb 2027 | 337–613 |
| 12–27 Feb 2027 | 548–915 |
| 28 Feb–31 Aug 2027 | 379–598 |
Each figure is the lowest price for 2 adults of one night taken alone, whatever the room. From 2 to 26 November 2026 and from 12 April to 23 May 2027 the calendar has no prices; it runs to 31 August 2027.

The 1895 festival hall is now the hotel’s theatre, with concerts and shows on its programme. The stage is more than a century old; the applause is this season’s.12

The hammam, sauna, bio-sauna and relaxation room are open to guests from 9am to 8pm; the gym stays open around the clock. Under-16s stay in the pool.12
Instead of a minibar there is the Origins Bar, a small room of hot and cold soft drinks, free for hotel guests.12

I would start at the buffet in the Ballroom, with eggs cooked to order.
Then I would go down to the pool, which opens to guests at 9am.
I would have lunch at Maison 1913, which opens at noon.
The afternoon is for the hammam and sauna, open until 8pm.
In the evening I would check the programme at Theater 1895, where the hotel holds its concerts.
I would end at the Lounge, open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The reviews cover stays, the restaurant, the bar and the spa since the hotel reopened in 2022.
A coeliac guest describes 2 nights with the heated pool facing the mountains, the hammam and sauna, and gluten-free croissants at breakfast.
A guest describes 2 nights in a Deluxe room with a view for a birthday, and remembers above all the touches waiting in the room.
In July a guest finds the room spacious and the drinks lounge on each floor a fine idea; in the heat, air conditioning would have been welcome.
A 5-star Superior hotel classified by HotellerieSuisse, with 105 rooms and suites, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and Swiss Deluxe Hotels since 2024. It opened on 24 December 1913, belonged to Club Med from 1968 to 2018 and reopened on 24 June 2022 after 18 months of work.123
Google Hotels, read on 20 October 2026 for 2 adults, shows CHF 305 on 29 November 2026, CHF 337 on 7 January 2027 and CHF 471 on 4 July 2027. The dearest night on the calendar is 27 February 2027, at CHF 915; 31 December 2026 costs CHF 702.1
They run from the 18–20 m² Standard to the 181 m² Royal Suite on the top floor. The real choice is the side: Panorama rooms face south, with a balcony over the mountains and valley; the others face north, over the forest and alpine garden. I would take the Junior Suite Panorama, 44–48 m² on the top floor with a private balcony. Breakfast is included in every room.123
The hotel’s restaurant is Maison 1913, a rôtisserie cooking over an open fire, open daily from noon to 10.45pm. The Lounge takes no bookings: 10am to midnight from Sunday to Thursday, until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, with the kitchen open until 11pm. The resort has more restaurants at the Victoria Hotel & Residence and at Villars Lodge, which serves Swiss dishes.12
Yes, it comes with the room. The buffet runs from 7am to 10.30am in the Ballroom or at the 1913, with eggs, crêpes and waffles made to order; without it in the rate it costs CHF 65, CHF 35 for ages 5–14, and under-5s eat free.12
The KAEA spa has a hammam, a sauna, a bio-sauna, a relaxation room, 2 terraces and the open-air pool. Treatments run from 10am to 7pm in 4 single rooms, a room for 2 and a manicure and pedicure room; the gym has 9 cardio and 16 weight machines.123
For hotel guests it is included: the wellness area is open from 9am to 8pm and the gym around the clock. Visitors come in from 9am to 8pm with a day entry or a weekly, monthly or season membership; Villars residents get 10% off memberships. Under-16s cannot use the hammam, sauna or relaxation room.123
It is outdoors, facing the mountains, and heated to 30°C. Children are welcome from the age of 3, between 9am and 6pm; swimwear is required, bathrobes and slippers are in the room and towels at the spa.12
Yes. The Ballroom has 562 m², 270 seats and room for up to 480 standing; there is also a chapel, and the private park covers 8 hectares. The events team quotes on request; as a marker, bringing your own wine costs CHF 35 a bottle and champagne CHF 60.123
On Google, 106 of the 113 guests who mention the setting and the view speak well of it, and 48 of the 54 who mention breakfast praise it. The bill is the reverse: 17 of the 21 who talk about it find it high for what they got.1
Yes, outdoors: it is booked ahead and costs CHF 30 a night per car.1
At Route des Hôtels 28 in Villars-sur-Ollon, about 20 minutes by car from Aigle and 45 from Lausanne. For quiet the side matters: north-facing rooms look onto the forest and alpine garden, the Panorama rooms south over the valley.123
No, it runs in seasons. Nights are on sale until 1 November 2026, then from 27 November to 11 April 2027 and again from late May; there is no price from 2 to 26 November 2026 or from 12 April to 23 May 2027.12
A theatre built in 1895 as the festival hall, the Ballroom, an exhibition gallery, a football pitch and a tennis court, and the Origins Bar with free soft drinks for guests.1234
Yes. On 31 December 2026 the party is «Cabaret Royal», curated by the Montreux Jazz Festival. The 2025 one gives the idea: drinks at 7pm in the lobby, a buffet in the Ballroom at 8pm, then a party in the bar until 3am with fireworks from the terrace, at CHF 570 per person with the drinks for the aperitif and dinner, CHF 200 for ages 6–15.12
Yes. Early Birds takes 15% off when you book at least 21 days ahead, non-refundable. There are 3 nights for the price of 2 and 7 for the price of 5, Sleep & Dine with CHF 100 per adult a day to spend on dining, and for families the second room at half price.12345
With 2 children I would book 2 connecting rooms, which the Classic, Superior and Junior Suite offer on request: with the Family offer the second costs half. For a bigger family there is the Palace Suite, 151 m² with 2 bedrooms and a kitchenette.123
The room is yours from 3pm and is to be left by noon; a later check-out is asked of the hotel and may cost extra.1

RoyAlp is 4 chalets of wood and stone in the Villars snow, with the slopes running to the door. I would book a mountain-view Executive with its private terrace, and leave the evening to Le Grizzly.

The 1868 Belle Époque façade looks straight out over Lake Geneva from the Vevey quay. I would book a lake-view Deluxe with a balcony facing the French Alps, and keep one evening for Emotions.

Since 1842 the Trois Couronnes façade has looked out over Lake Geneva from the Vevey waterfront. I would book a Junior Suite Lake, south-facing with a sitting area, and keep an hour for the 24-metre indoor pool.

At the d’Angleterre I would choose the Bellevue Suite: 70 m² with a balcony on the lake, and the Jet d’Eau in the doorway. There are 45 rooms on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the Leopard Bar has live music 6 nights a week.

Les Armures is a 17th-century house one minute from St Peter’s Cathedral. Its 32 rooms share the house with Geneva’s oldest café, where the evening means a moitié-moitié fondue.

At La Cigogne, on Place Longemalle, the lounge fire is lit on winter evenings beneath murals of the city. Its 49 rooms are all different, a short walk from the lake and the Old Town.

At the Beau-Rivage I would choose the Junior Suite Lake View Panorama: 45 m² facing the Jet d’Eau, with balconies. There are 95 rooms and suites on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, and the same family has run the house since 1865.

Curhaus towers above Zurich, art in the corridors and warm water facing the city.

Lausanne climbs behind the palace; from the right rooms, the lake appears beyond the rooftops.

In Schönried the brine pool runs outdoors; inside, the Stuben and cake table slow the day.

The palace Gstaad looks up to, from fondue in an old vault to music at GreenGo.

From boat to ridge, Lake Lucerne returns in the view from the warm pool.
