A pool facing the lagoon
The shared infinity pool looks across the sea, with loungers and beach around it. A private pool belongs to the villa category you book.
The boat from Malé, a deck in the lagoon and dinner over the water.
A week here, month by monthTaj Exotica suits guests who want overwater villas, personal attention and a simple airport journey, from $713 for one night, 2 adults, in April 2027: the lowest price any seller showed on Google. A trip built on snorkelling a reef straight from the villa suits it less: here reef trips require an outing.
Official site Restaurants and meals at Taj ExoticaDoes it suit you?
5 pairs of hotels, and the guide tells you whether this one suits you.
I would ask for a Sunrise Overwater Villa: 71 m² with a palm-thatched design, poised above the lagoon, with a private sundeck for a quiet morning or a dip in the sea below.
From 18 April to 10 July 2027, single nights for 2 adults held at $713–$733 on Google, read 12 October 2026. The dearest week shown, 30 December 2026 to 5 January 2027, ran from $2,428 to $3,751.
Spa prices are in US dollars, before government taxes and service charges, and a treatment in the villa adds $200. The A Splash of Sea Sport rate charges a mandatory green tax per person per day and says other taxes are extra.
Equator Bar serves High Tea and sharing boards from 4pm to 11pm, in a casual setting the resort places a short walk from your villa.
Life centres on the overwater deck: the sea is there even when you have no plans at all. A boat replaces a second flight after landing in Malé, and the spa and shared pool give you a few places to wander between slow hours at the villa.
A small catalogue still offers markedly different stays. Sunrise Overwater has a deck and lagoon access within its published 71 m²; the 94 m² Overwater adds a pool, while beach villas and suites put more space on the island. Published areas do not distinguish indoor and outdoor space.
The 259 reviews read, from 2022 onwards, put faces to the service. On 2 October 2026 a family described meals prepared for their one-year-old; another guest recalled a dinner tailored to their tastes, alongside buggy waits and a disappointing meal at Mediterraneo. Meals outside your plan cost extra. We would choose it for a contained lagoon holiday with a complete quote; for rich reef snorkelling close at hand, we would also compare Baros.
Lumina Guide 2027
Taj Exotica is a small island in the Emboodhu Finolhu lagoon, 15 to 20 minutes by boat from the airport: overwater villas with a terrace on the sea, a spa over the water and an infinity pool.
Distinctions
What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.
A short airport boat journey and lagoon setting; published durations are estimates.
A small island with 64 accommodations and overwater dining.
8 categories with their own photographs, between beach and jetties.
4 current venues; meal plans and additional spending need attention.
An overwater spa, couples’ suites and a menu with durations and prices.
Google showed $924 a night for 2 on 17 November 2026, taxes included; meals depend on the plan you choose.

Every hotel with this badgeWhat do Taj Exotica’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The reviews keep returning to the lagoon around the island and to the short arrival, 15–20 minutes by boat from the airport; the reef is reached on boat trips.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the space and the decks of the villas; some sit on the beach, others over the water with steps down into the lagoon.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the villa butlers and the chefs, who also cook to request, and about birthdays and anniversaries prepared with care, and remember members of staff by name.
6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is ordered à la carte and served at the table at 24 Degrees, with Indian and international dishes; guests also describe the floating breakfast in the pool.
Guests writing about the price talk about meals and what their rate covers: breakfast alone, breakfast and dinner at 24 Degrees on the Experience More offer, or all 3 meals on Splash of Sea Sport.
On location it shares first place with COMO Cocoa Island among the 4 hotels compared in the Maldives.

The scores come from 259 Google reviews with text, left from 3 January 2022 to 2 October 2026. 614 Google reviews with text collected on 5 October 2026; 259 remain from 1 January 2022, after the contractor’s stated 2021 refurbishment. These are dated 2022–2026 guest accounts, rather than all 1,053 listing ratings or a measurement of current offers. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:
Price: for two on the night of 11 April 2027, from $713 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).
Single nights for 2 adults cost $768–$1,438 from 13 October to 21 December 2026, while the week of 30 December 2026 to 5 January 2027 runs $2,428–$3,751. From 11 April to 6 September 2027 runs of nights hold at $713–$733, and I would look at those months.

Meals and treatments matter to the budget. A Google minimum does not establish a meal plan or included boat transfer.
Official sources estimate 15–20 minutes by boat, available around the clock; arriving at the resort and getting your room are separate timings.
Lagoon steps and snorkelling activities do not establish a continuous reef beneath every villa.
Families can stay; distinguish catalogue and portal rules for ages, cots and extra beds.

Google’s score and what guests talk about: the staff, the villas, the beach and dinners prepared to order.
Google 4.6/5 from 1,053 ratings, read on 5 October 2026. We read the 259 reviews with text written from 1 January 2022, after the contractor’s stated 2021 works; earlier reviews and current offers are separate evidence.
Summaries of the original texts, with dates and ratings: personal experiences rather than guaranteed terms.
A family with a one-year-old appreciates specially prepared meals, comfortable villas, a peaceful beach and thoughtful touches for a celebration.
This guest praises staff, cocktails and a specially prepared dinner, but found buggies less readily available and Mediterraneo’s food below the other meals on the island.
Staff and dishes prepared on request pleased this guest, who found breakfast service slow around 7.30am and excellent around 9.30am.
The family praises dinner, staff and the spa treatment, but reports conflicting information and an unpleasant interaction over a coupon; this does not establish current offer benefits.
The family enjoyed transfers, staff and a vow renewal. They describe marine life by the jetty and complimentary activities during their stay, but found meals expensive and pool towels unavailable on the first day.
This guest liked the setting and courteous staff, but found limited choice and long à la carte waits on their half-board stay. They could not use a promised photo session and found the credit restrictive.
24 Degrees serves Asian and international cooking: breakfast 7–10am, lunch noon–2.30pm and dinner 7–10pm. Mediterraneo by Jeffrey Vella is the overwater Mediterranean dinner restaurant, open 7–10pm; both specify smart casual dress. Mediterraneo Waterfront serves comfort food 11am–4pm, with the bar open 11am–4pm and 7–11pm. Equator Bar opens 4–11pm for high tea and sharing boards; dress is casual here and at Waterfront. These current restaurant pages take precedence over earlier Deep End and Tex-Mex names. In-villa dining operates around the clock; restaurant hours remain separate.
J Wellness Circle is the overwater spa. The original menu describes 4 couples’ suites with Jacuzzi, bath, steam and shower facilities, plus one single suite. It also lists sauna, steam room, jet shower, ice chute and relaxation lounge. Facilities do not establish an admission entitlement for every room rate. The resort is on Emboodhu Finolhu in South Malé Atoll, according to Taj’s page, read on 15 October 2026; the North Malé address in the PDF footer is an old one.
Google read on 5 October 2026, 2 adults, USD per night: $847 on 17 November, $881 on 10 December, $773 on 24 January 2027, $800 on 2 February, $670 on 14 March and $713 on 1 April. These are calendar minima, with taxes and fees on the Maldives market basis; they identify no villa, meals or boat. The separate 16–19 November response listed Agoda 925, Booking 924 and Vio 767 a night. On the later Google screen, explicitly selecting Nightly total with taxes and fees, Agoda remained 925, Booking was 879 and Stayforlong’s minimum 727. These are changing snapshots rather than confirmed quotes. Booking showed a Lagoon Villa Ocean View King Bed with breakfast and cancellation until 1 November; that alias is not automatically equated with the current Sunrise Overwater. Neither reading returned an official Taj seller, so they establish no direct Taj rate, transfer or full-board entitlement.
A 5-star Taj resort on Emboodhu Finolhu, with overwater and beachfront stays. The current facilities list 58 villas and 6 suites, 64 in total, consistent with the factsheet; 8 categories do not mean 8 rooms. Donbez dates work on water villas, spa, jetty, 24 Degrees and diving facilities to 2021. This documents partial refurbishment, without an exact reopening day or evidence of a whole-island rebuild. The sources read do not establish the historical number of units.
The Google listing showed 4.6/5 from 1,053 ratings on 5 October 2026. Of the 614 reviews with text, we read the 259 written from 1 January 2022, after the contractor’s stated 2021 works. 227 guests write about the service: meals prepared on request recur, alongside accounts of waits at the table. Guests appreciate the personal attention and also mention the cost of separately charged meals outside their chosen plan.
The events page offers beach ceremonies, vow renewals and celebrations with Haldi, Mehendi and Sangeet. The same page lists Muraka Boardroom: 44 m², dimensions 12 × 4 m, up to 40 guests, with theatre 40, boardroom 20 and cluster 30. The stated area and product of its dimensions differ; both are retained. The page and factsheet read define no quotation, beach-ceremony capacity or civil validity. Romantic descriptions establish none of those terms. A September 2026 review praises a vow renewal, which remains that family’s experience.
Taj describes a shared outdoor infinity pool facing the lagoon. The catalogue adds private pools in 7 of the 8 categories; Sunrise Overwater does not list one. The home page’s outdoor and infinity descriptions do not establish 2 separate shared pools. A private pool and sea access are different features of your chosen villa.
The spa menu lists paid treatments and excludes guests under 16. The spa and offer pages read on 5 October 2026 define no universal sauna-and-steam admission fee or outside day pass; neither is assumed included. The older suite package with a 45-minute spa treatment for 2 ended on 31 March 2026 and is not part of the current suite page’s terms.
The current catalogue lists Sunrise Overwater 71 m², Overwater with Pool 94, Sunrise Oceanfront with Pool 193, Sunset Beach with Pool 200, One Bedroom Sunrise Overwater Suite with Pool 195, One Bedroom Sunset Beachfront Suite with Pool 270, Two Bedroom Sunset Beachfront Suite with Pool 365 and Rehendhi Presidential Overwater Suite–2 Bedroom with Pool 500. The first 6 hold up to 4 guests, the last 2 up to 6: no adult-only allocation or free extra beds follow. Areas do not split indoors and outdoors. Listings include butler service, 24-hour in-villa dining, basic Wi-Fi included with premium charged, Forest Essentials, Frette and a minibar; its presence does not make the contents free.
The Taj pages and current offers describe year-round stays without specifying a seasonal closing interval. The calendar read on 5 October returns nights from November 2026 to August 2027, but no prices for September–November 2027. These are availability gaps rather than evidence of closure. Published dates and a villa’s availability for your stay remain distinct.
The current address is Emboodhu Finolhu, South Malé Atoll, Maldives, telephone +960 400 6000, coordinates 4.100960, 73.526132. The Taj source takes precedence over the spa PDF’s old North Malé reference and the portal’s Vadoo label. Guests often appreciate the calm, but proximity to the airport guarantees neither freedom from aircraft nor silence in every villa; the sources read give no acoustic measurement.
Stay a Bit Longer and Suite Surprises terms allow possible supplements on 24/25 December, 31 December/1 January, Easter and other festivals. The pages read give no confirmed price, menu or programme for 31 December 2026. A possible supplement establishes neither a compulsory gala nor its meal-plan inclusion.
Taj describes airport access by boat. The arrival pages and factsheet read specify no resort parking, garage or valet rate; a portal’s generic label does not establish a free parking space. The sea transfer is the connection to plan around.
Sunrise Overwater and Overwater with Pool list direct lagoon access from the deck. Sunset Beach and Beachfront suites lead to the beach. Sunrise Oceanfront sits at the island’s edge with a pool, without the same steps promise as Overwater. The catalogue distinguishes a view, beach and water entry; sea conditions and supervising children remain relevant.
The experiences and 8 Taj packages read describe sea activities, spa, dining and stays, without terms for a golf course, green fee or golf package. That is the scope of these readings rather than a claim about every possible service. None of the benefits described here includes golf.
A Splash of Sea Sport requires 4 nights, priced per night for double occupancy: breakfast, lunch and dinner at 24 Degrees; free shared return boat; one weather-dependent sunset cruise, 30 minutes of jet skiing, 15 minutes on an inflatable and 30 minutes by catamaran for 2, once per stay.
Experience More requires 2 nights and membership enrolment before check-in: 10% off Best Available Rate, breakfast and dinner at 24 Degrees, and free shared return boat.
Both list butler service, sparkling wine or juice on arrival, gym, Wi-Fi for 4 devices, snorkelling equipment and non-motorised sports excluding SUP and lessons. No general drinks or snacks entitlement follows. Published year-round, they have blackout dates, availability and allocation limits, changeable rates, a full guarantee deposit and free cancellation by 2pm on the preceding day, otherwise one night plus taxes and fees. The pages do not specify that hour’s time zone.
Breakfast Inclusive includes breakfast and standard Wi-Fi, with flexible cancellation but no exact cutoff hour in the page.
The members’ version advertises up to 25% savings and up to 8% NeuCoins: provide a membership number when booking, verified at check-in, otherwise the rate may be cancelled or amended. NeuCoins require eligible direct Taj/Tata Neu/IHCL channels.
Stay a Bit Longer requires 3 nights, breakfast and savings on room, food and soft drinks without a fixed percentage; the current page is year-round whereas the older object named July–September 2024.
The members’ version requires 3 nights, gives an additional 10%, breakfast, up to 8% NeuCoins and bookings from 15 April 2026; its terms specify premium Wi-Fi.
These offers have blackout dates, allocation and availability limits, taxes and extra-guest charges, standard child charges, separate groups over 5 rooms and no combination with promotions, negotiated rates or outside vouchers. Terms govern modifications and no-shows, with possible full-stay charges plus taxes; flexible does not establish one universal cutoff. Not every page gives a precise final expiry.
Members’ Suite Surprises advertises 25% off suites, breakfast at a designated restaurant, a one-way transfer subject to availability, 10% off food/drink and spa, and up to 8% NeuCoins.
The current non-member page advertises 15%, breakfast and a one-way transfer subject to availability.
Club lounge, 2 meeting-room hours and early check-in are generic conditional benefits varying by hotel, not evidence of a club lounge on this island. The older 25%/return-boat/45-minute-spa-for-two package ended on 31 March 2026 and must not be added to the current page.
Availability, blackout dates, taxes, extra guests and children, separate groups over 5 rooms, non-combination, modifications/no-shows and possible festive supplements apply. The pages read define no current coupon or universal new-bookings-only rule; guest reports of credits are not turned into bookable benefits.
The original menu gives spa hours 9am–8pm and gym 8am–8pm. For treatments it advises arrival 30 minutes ahead and 24 hours’ cancellation notice; under 3 hours incurs 50%, a no-show the full price, while 30-minute treatments carry a full-price cancellation charge. The reading gives no separate shared-pool hours. The spa excludes under-16s; gym hours do not change that rule.
The home page and catalogue describe a shared outdoor infinity pool and private freshwater pools. The listings read specify no guaranteed temperature, heating for every pool or seasonal pool-closing period. Those materials establish no warm-water promise or numerical temperature.
The Taj source lists an outdoor pool, J Wellness Circle, gym, diving and water sports, restaurants, bar, 24-hour in-villa dining, butler service, laundry and event facilities. Snorkelling, kayaking and other activities belong to the experiences and your package’s conditions. Basic Wi-Fi is included in the catalogue, with premium charged and no measured speed. A play area appears in facilities; the pages read define no kids’ club ages or timetable.
The spa menu lists Aroma at USD 245 for 60 minutes or 315 for 90; Pehlwan 315 for 90; Champi head and shoulders 200 for 45; foot massage 215 for 60. Svastha, Nidra and Shodhana cost 450 for 120 minutes; Vishrama, Sushupti and Trupti 415 for 120. Sukha, 240 minutes, costs USD 600; Soma for 2, 120 minutes, 625. Taxes and service are excluded; in-room treatments add USD 200 and cross-gender in-room treatments are not offered. Many durations include 5-minute opening and closing rituals. The menu excludes body treatments during pregnancy; therapeutic descriptions are not measured outcomes. Forest Essentials is a room amenity rather than an established brand for every treatment.
The home page says 15 minutes; Taj highlights 15–20, the factsheet 20. Airport service is described as available around the clock; duration remains an estimate. Splash and Experience More explicitly include shared return boat transfers with their minimum-night terms. Suite Surprises describes one way subject to availability and hotel-specific benefits. Those terms do not establish a free return. The arrival pages, portal and offers read give no certain standalone boat fare, so it is not zero for every booking. Taj asks to book at least 24 hours ahead; Booking requests flight details 2 days ahead. Taj check-in is 2pm versus Google’s 3pm; the resort’s time governs.
Taj Exotica experiences offer snorkelling and diving; Overwater villas have lagoon steps. The pages consulted establish no continuous coral-rich reef beneath every villa, coral-cover percentage or measured current. The Taj destination page’s house reef belongs to Taj Coral Reef, another resort. A 4 September 2026 review describes abundant marine life by the jetty: one guest’s observation rather than a whole-lagoon guarantee.
Breakfast rates include breakfast. Experience More specifies breakfast and dinner at 24 Degrees: that is this package’s half-board scope. Splash of Sea Sport specifies breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Full board establishes neither unlimited drinks, snacks nor every restaurant’s inclusion. Mediterraneo and the bars have their own menus and hours. Google’s all-inclusive-available label defines no Taj Exotica plan; the site’s Coral All Inclusive suggestion belongs to Taj Coral Reef. The 8 Exotica terms read establish no current all-inclusive drinks plan, so none is promised.
Booking allows all ages and prices children from 4 as adults. The Taj catalogue lists free cots on request up to age 2; Booking lists ages 0–5 on request. Taj’s own terms are the ones that apply, as read on 15 October 2026: infant cribs up to age 2, on request and at no charge (Taj catalogue). Booking prices extra beds from age 6 at USD 200 per person per night; Taj specifies a nightly charge without an amount. Capacity does not make an additional guest free. A play area defines no staffed kids’ club ages or timetable, or universal children-eat-free rule. The spa excludes under-16s; water villas and pools need appropriate supervision.
Google’s 16–19 November screen selects Nightly total with taxes and fees: its displayed basis rather than proof of payment or included meals and boat. The separate calendar uses the Maldives market basis. Taj offers and spa prices state taxes and service are extra. MIRA lists tourism GST at 17% from 1 July 2025; resort Green Tax is USD 12 per person per day from 1 January 2025, with under-twos at check-in exempt. Splash and Experience More still state USD 6, outdated against MIRA. Do not add again a charge already included in Google’s total: rate and separate extras remain distinct. The sources read establish no uniform service percentage for every component at this resort.

Lagoon villas and well-liked staff: all-inclusive still requires a close look at venues and dates.

Italian dining and villas of several sizes: distinguish upgrades and seaplane from all-inclusive.

For couples who want a quiet villa, an overwater spa and the option to cross the bridge for a different dinner setting at Dhigurah.

For travellers who put the house reef and a small island ahead of a quick transfer.

For couples and families who want a choice of land and overwater villas, sports and 6 restaurants, with a lower entry quote in the collected comparison.

For travellers who want space, a private pool and facilities for a family or group, with mobility adaptations in 3 specified villa categories.
