4 couples’ treatment rooms, according to the reimagining announcement, and appointments from 10am to 8pm. Current treatment prices and separate steam or thermal access are unspecified in the pages read.
On Fesdu in North Ari Atoll: 77 villas with private pools, on beach and water.
A week here, month by monthW Maldives suits couples who want a reef round the island and an evening at the bar; on Google one night taken alone read $3,079 in August 2027, while 7 nights booked together from 16 November 2026 asked $1,796 a night. Anyone after silence at every hour will be happier elsewhere.
Official siteDoes it suit you?
5 pairs of hotels, and the guide tells you whether this one suits you.
For the reef I would ask for a Superior Overwater One-Bedroom Villa: the resort promises direct access to the house reef from each overwater villa. The Premier has the same published 146 m², with what the resort calls upgraded perks.
Consider 15 to 21 August 2027: 7 nights at $3,079 for 2 adults on Google, read 12 October 2026. The dearest week, 2 to 8 January 2027, ran from $4,444 to $4,894 a night.
The return seaplane to and from Velana airport is mandatory and charged separately, at $730 net per adult and $365 net per child aged 2 to 11, read 15 October 2026.
6 guests who wrote between April 2025 and October 2026 mention a turtle they call Bob; a guest who wrote in December 2025 swam beside her for almost an hour.
The house reef runs round the island. One guest puts it 10 metres from the beach (September 2026); others recognise a turtle they call Bob. These are the details behind the choice of villa. A guest who tried both sides in February 2026 snorkelled straight from the deck on the reef side, where the seaplanes were louder; from the sandy side, the reef took a 5-minute swim and there was much less aircraft noise. SIP is the place for the sunset, FISH for dinner above the sea.
For families, Escape Beach sleeps 3 people in total, and only some of these villas connect. The current 2-bedroom descriptions sleep 4. That includes Oasis Overwater: 4 is the largest occupancy on the rooms page of the official site, read on 15 October 2026. All 6 villa types have private pools; on Oasis Beach a slide runs from the upper deck into the pool.
We read 84 Google reviews published after the March 2025 renewal announcement, leaving out one that describes a stay years earlier. Guests return to the reef, the turtles, rays and sharks, and to staff who remember their names and preferences. A couple went back to FISH 4 times for the catch of the day (August 2026). The mandatory seaplane comes on top of the villa; W All Access and Full Board cover selected courses and venues, leaving some food and drinks to pay for.
Lumina Guide 2027
W Maldives is on Fesdu island, in North Ari Atoll: 77 villas on the beach and over the water, each with a private pool, and snorkelling close to the island.
How we choose the hotelsWhat we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.
The reef runs round the island; a guest in September 2026 puts it 10 metres from the beach. The seaplane lands nearby.
A pool at every villa and evenings at SIP; a guest in January 2026 enjoyed the daytime DJ and evening singer.
6 types, from the one-bedroom villas to the 2-bedroom Oasis; Oasis Overwater sleeps 4, per the official rooms page, read 15 October 2026.
3 restaurants and 2 bars. At FISH a couple returned 4 times for the catch of the day; the meal plans leave premium dishes and in-villa meals extra.
AWAY stands over the water; FIT and the WET pool open 24 hours. The spa pages read give no current treatment prices.
A stay built around the reef and a private deck. Add the seaplane, then check which meals and drinks the rate covers.
A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.
Here: the “Whatever/Whenever” team answers fast on WhatsApp; waiters know your favourite cocktails, and for honeymoons and birthdays there are petals in the villa and a bubble bath run.
75 of the 76 guests who write about the staff and service are pleased. 18 hotels of 335 hold it.
Every hotel with this badgeHere: every villa, on the beach or over the water, has its own pool, and the WET pool stays open round the clock.
129 of the 131 guests who write about the beach and the lagoon are pleased. 18 hotels of 335 hold it.
Every hotel with this badgeWhat do W Maldives’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The reef within a swim of the beach comes up in almost every account: turtles, rays and small reef sharks seen while snorkelling round the island.
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the renovated interiors, about spacious villas with every detail thought through, and about the overwater villas, for the view and for the reef a few steps from the deck.
Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Of the staff, guests remember requests kept in mind, the villa dressed for an anniversary and the help at Malé airport before the seaplane.
Breakfast is at KITCHEN, from 7 to 10.30am: guests remember the wide choice and the dishes made to order.
On top of the villa rate come the meals, drinks and supplements the chosen plan leaves out: that is what guests write about when they mention the bill.
| What | Score out of 10 | Guests who mention it | Happy |

The scores come from 84 Google reviews with text, left from 18 March 2025 to 5 October 2026. 516 Google reviews with text collected on 5 October 2026; 84 remain from 11 March 2025 after the renewal announcement, excluding a text describing a stay several years earlier. These are dated accounts, rather than all 720 listing ratings. Comparisons use different windows: Huvafen after its 2023 work, Kandolhu after the November 2025 villa work announcement, COMO after its 2019 renovation; Baros retains its historical sample. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:
Price: for two on the night of 15 August 2027, from $3,079 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).
Read on 12 October 2026, a night for 2 adults ran from $3,079 to $4,122 between 6 April and 5 September 2027, against $3,736 to $4,482 from 8 January to 5 April. I would choose 6 April to 5 September 2027 over 8 January to 5 April 2027.
| Period | Dollars a night |
|---|---|
| 13 Oct. to 26 Dec. 2026 | 3,093–3,543 |
| 27 Dec. 2026 to 7 Jan. 2027 | 4,572–4,894 |
| 8 January to 5 April 2027 | 3,736–4,482 |
| 6 April to 5 Sept. 2027 | 3,079–4,122 |
The lowest price any seller showed on Google Hotels for one night searched alone, for 2 adults, read 12 October 2026; no room or meal plan is specified. The calendar stops on 5 September 2027; 30 December 2026 to 1 January 2027 has no price. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed that day asked $1,796 a night; the resort’s own listing, $1,970.
Choose W Maldives for the reef round the island and a drink at SIP at sunset. Huvafen Fushi suits a reef 25 metres out and a speedboat of 30 minutes; Soneva Jani suits a private lagoon, 40 minutes by seaplane, with the reef reached only by boat.
| Hotel | A night, from |
|---|---|
| W Maldives | $3,093 |
| Huvafen Fushi | $2,304 |
| Soneva Jani | $2,850 |
A night: the lowest price in the week of 16 November 2026, in a search for 2 adults, read on Google on 12 October 2026, and on 13 October for Huvafen Fushi; no room or meal plan is specified.

A day can stay on the island, with space for dinner or a treatment.

4 couples’ treatment rooms, according to the reimagining announcement, and appointments from 10am to 8pm. Current treatment prices and separate steam or thermal access are unspecified in the pages read.

The shared pool adds an alternative to private villa pools. WET bar opens from 11am to 11pm; that does not establish pool opening hours or water temperature.

KITCHEN for meals, FISH by the sea and FIRE for the grill; SIP and WET are the 2 bars. FIRE’s table says daily, while its prose says selected days: the 2 statements do not resolve actual openings.
The return seaplane is compulsory: $730 net per adult and $365 for children aged 2 to 11. Source: marriott.com
The mandatory return seaplane is US$730 net per adult and US$365 per child aged 2–11, according to the official site, read on 15 October 2026; it gives no fare for children under 2.
All Access excludes premium items and in-villa meals; selected drinks are served by the glass and consumed at outlets. The included minibar covers non-alcoholic drinks.
The one-bedroom villas sleep 3 people in total; the current 2-bedroom descriptions sleep 4, children included in those totals. That includes Oasis Overwater: 4 is the largest occupancy on the rooms page of the official site, read on 15 October 2026.
The resort lends snorkelling equipment and has a marine biologist and guided outings, including beginner sessions. 20 of the 84 reviews describe seeing turtles, 18 describe sharks; manta rays and whale sharks are sought by boat. The reef is close, but the day’s current and your swimming ability still decide where to enter.

At Malé guests describe being met by staff, helped with check-in and taken through to the seaplane; on the return, guests describe being escorted towards security. Fesdu is about 57 km from the airport.
| Return seaplanes | USD 730 net per adult; USD 365 net per child aged 2–11 on the current overview. |

| Island access | The resort makes seaplane transfers mandatory and does not allow external boats. |
| Villa arrival and departure | Check-in from 3pm; check-out by noon. |
| Check-in age | The minimum check-in age is 18; that is not an adults-only resort rule. |
Google describes a flight of about 25 minutes. A guest in May 2026 waited almost 3 hours at Malé; one in July 2026 reports a 25 kg baggage allowance and charges above it. The official prices read give no infant fare or flight timetable.

84 Google reviews published after the 11 March 2025 reimagining announcement. Google’s overall 4.8/5 from 720 reviews on 5 October 2026 also includes earlier history.
The comparison uses 4 hotels: for Baros we read reviews going back many years, for Huvafen Fushi those written after its October 2023 renewal, for Kandolhu those from December 2025 after the partial Deluxe Ocean Pool refurbishment, and for COMO Cocoa Island those from 2020 after its December 2019 renewal. Dates and numbers of reviews differ; these are not 4 equivalent measurements of current rooms.
The turtle Bob is a recurring acquaintance: one guest spent almost an hour swimming beside him (December 2025). In July 2026 another counted 3 to 8 turtles in one outing. One February 2026 guest had seen finer seabeds elsewhere but found the sea calm and gentle, good for families.
The staff are what guests write about most: they greet you by name, remember preferences and dress the villa for an anniversary; many guests thank by name the people who looked after them.
When guests mention the bill, they write about the restaurants and the seaplane: the transfer, which is mandatory, and the meals and drinks the chosen plan leaves out come on top of the villa rate.
Areas, capacities, packages and prices from sources read on 5 October 2026. Where official pages differ, the answers give the one read on 15 October 2026.
For 2 adults staying 16–19 November 2026, read on 5 October 2026, Google’s overview showed USD 2,011 a night from TUI.com including taxes and fees. The lowest price did not identify a villa category, meal plan or transfers. The official seller separately showed USD 2,119 for Superior Overwater, one king bedroom with a private pool, for 2 guests. Have the resort confirm the final total. The calendar covered single nights with unspecified categories and meals: $3,093 for 16–17 November, $3,864 for 21–22 December and $4,894 for 6–7 January 2027. Its lowest returned price was USD 3,079 for 21–22 August 2027. These are separate searches from the 3-night stay and do not name Superior. Taxes and fees were verified in the selected 3-night overview; the calendar follows Google’s Maldives market basis, without separate verification of each date.
141 of the 380 dates returned a price and 239 did not. Gaps, including 10 May and 15 August 2027, do not establish closure or unavailability. The official offer indicated cancellation on 16 October, while another field gave the already-past 15 June: ask which cancellation date applies before paying. Mandatory transfers remain separate in the resort’s terms.
Marriott’s 11 March 2025 announcement describes 77 villas after the complete reimagining. These are published total areas, without an interior/deck split.
Escape Remix is an itinerary of at least 4 nights combining beach and water, rather than a seventh physical villa type. Its description prints 146 m², while the programme includes 188 m² Escape Beach and 146 m² overwater types; the 2 areas belong to different villas. The April 2025 sheet lists 21 Superior and 25 Premier; the September 2024 sheet lists 25 and 21 respectively.
Current descriptions allow 3 guests in total in Superior Overwater, Escape Beach and Premier Overwater; 4 in Supreme Overwater, Oasis Beach and Oasis Overwater. Those totals include children. Ask the resort to confirm the beds or cot for your party within that limit.
Only some Escape Beach villas connect. The other 5 physical types say connecting rooms are unavailable; Escape Remix mentions some connections within its itinerary. Oasis Overwater takes 4 guests in total, the largest occupancy on the rooms page of the official site, read on 15 October 2026. Oasis Beach and Remix also describe paid Wi-Fi, while the overview offers complimentary Wi-Fi to Bonvoy members booking directly; check whether your chosen rate includes it.
The current overview makes return seaplane transfers from Malé mandatory and separately payable: USD 730 net per adult and USD 365 net per child aged 2–11. It also uses USD 365 for an adult one-way leg; that is not the return fare. The price section gives no infant fare, baggage allowance or timetable. External boats are not allowed.

A new-bookings-only rule and common child-benefit ages are also not stated; ask the resort which apply to your booking. The offers’ additional-tax basis is separate from Google’s selected tax-and-fee-inclusive price. MIRA states Green Tax of USD 12 per person per day from 1 January 2025, exempting children under 2 at check-in, and 17% TGST from 1 July 2025; ask for a total with those charges shown.
The current site describes honeymoon benefits from 4 consecutive nights: wine, a chef’s amenity, an aromatic bath, bed decoration and a sunset cocktail at SIP. Benefits marked as once per stay are not daily. The window since marriage and proof required are unspecified in the pages read; confirm eligibility with the resort.
The resort presents proposals, private experiences and overnight stays on Gaathafushi with a chef. The experiences and holidays pages and 5 packages read do not establish current ceremony prices, capacity or legal recognition of a marriage. Ask for an individual quote and date. The holiday page lists 23 December–1 January without printing a year; the page does not identify it as the 2026 programme.
KITCHEN publishes breakfast 7–10.30am, lunch noon–3pm and dinner 6–10pm. FISH and FIRE print dinner 6.30–10pm; FIRE retains the difference between a daily table and prose about selected days. SIP, with Nikkei food, opens 5.30–11.30pm; WET 11am–11pm. The renewal factsheet describes 3 restaurants and 2 bars, while an older one counted 4 restaurants; the names above come from the current dining page.
Book a table and discuss dietary requirements before dinner. In the reviews since the renewal, guests often praise the food. In-villa dining is excluded from All Access and Full Board.
The reimagining announcement describes 4 AWAY couples’ rooms and a steam bath; the current page gives appointments from 10am to 8pm. The texts read do not publish current treatment prices, a day pass or separate thermal-facility access charges. The photograph shows 5 roofs; the announcement counts 4 treatment rooms.
FIT opens 24 hours and is described as complimentary; AWAY treatments are charged separately. Private pools belong to the villas. The site describes an island-accessible reef, complimentary equipment, a biologist and guided outings, including beginner and night sessions. Check the current, the route and the excursion charge with the marine team before setting off. Turtles, manta rays and whale sharks are not guaranteed.
The current pages read do not establish children’s club ages, hours, babysitting or prices. A dated account mentions Mini Wavemakers activities, without defining a current service for every age. Villa capacities are total guests; 18 is the minimum age to check in, rather than a prohibition on children staying.
Of 516 Google reviews collected, 85 were published from 11 March 2025. One explicitly describes a stay years earlier and was left out, leaving 84. Google’s overall 4.8/5 from 720 reviews includes earlier history, so it does not describe these 84 alone.

Baros offers a reef alternative with speedboat transfers; its 295 reviews cover a long history. Huvafen Fushi offers a spa and villa comparison with speedboats: its 72 reviews follow the October 2023 renewal. Kandolhu is smaller and focused on reef and meals; its 31 reviews from December 2025 follow the November announcement of partial Deluxe Ocean Pool refurbishment, without applying it to the whole island. COMO Cocoa Island offers an alternative for wellness and overwater villas, with 97 reviews from 2020 after its December 2019 renewal.
These reviews cover different years and different stages of the hotels’ renovations. Use them to read about the stays, rather than as a like-for-like measure of the current rooms.
The official hotel and offer pages read on 5 October 2026 do not specify an annual operating season or closure calendar. Festive Favors covers stays from 20 December 2026 to 10 January 2027; Full Board Getaway ends on 5 December 2026 and All Access on 4 December. These are individual offer windows, rather than the island’s opening and closing dates. Check the villa for your dates directly: Google’s gaps do not establish a closure.
The official address is Fesdu Island, North Ari Atoll, Maldives, 09110: its own island in North Ari Atoll. Marriott gives a distance of 57 km from Velana International Airport. The mandatory transfer is by seaplane; allow for the wait at the airport as well as the flight.
Quiet depends on villa position and activities. A guest writing on 17 January 2026 enjoyed an evening singer and daytime DJ; another on 8 February described a lively atmosphere. The seaplanes land beside the island. Anyone after silence at every hour will be happier elsewhere.
No: W Maldives is its own island in North Ari Atoll, reached by the mandatory seaplane from Malé, and external boats are not allowed, so there is no arriving by car.

The far north, a private pool and 7 dining venues.

Space and greenery in the northern Maldives, with a journey to allow for.

A pool villa close to the airport, with outlook and meals to choose.

Ritz-Carlton Maldives suits couples and families who want a contemporary villa, a private pool and days divided between the spa and restaurants. Budget for meals, treatments and the speedboat when the chosen rate excludes them; reef snorkelling also involves guided boat trips.

Couples and groups choosing between beach and overwater duplex. Transfer prices unspecified; minibar and spa have separate costs

Couples and families wanting meals and activities with explicit terms. Category-specific access; transfers and supplements separate from room quote

Beach, garden or overwater: choose the room first, then the board and transfer.

The Nautilus Maldives suits guests seeking a spacious house, a butler and meals that follow their own rhythm on a small Baa island. Privacy comes at a substantial cost, and transfers, spa and experiences need separate reading from the house rate.

Ifuru Island Maldives suits families and groups seeking a beach, varied restaurants and a pool with music, with arrivals also using the island’s airstrip. Suites and villas have distinct formats, while supplements, transfers and activities do not all become part of Premium All Inclusive.

Brennia Kottefaru suits guests choosing between garden, beach and water, with villas for 2 and residences for a larger family. The variety needs careful reading: counts and areas have discrepancies, and Manta and Sunset Grill require reservations and supplements.

Meyyafushi Maldives suits families and couples seeking a private pool, overwater padel and several restaurants during a Premium All Inclusive stay. Bubble, the underwater restaurant, and Sukun, the teppanyaki, cost extra and need booking; the resort is new, the release of 30 April 2026 announces it officially open, and the earliest reviews describe its opening months.

Safari Island Maldives suits guests seeking traditional bungalows, diving and a sea-centred holiday, with 3 choices between beach and lagoon. Space and facilities are simpler than a large pool villa, and private boats, meal plans and taxes need distinct terms.
