Borgo Egnazia suits a week without driving, as a family or a couple: clubs for ages 3 to 16, golf next door, 2 beaches guests reach by shuttle, and in late March 2027 a single night for 2 from €405, the lowest Google Hotels showed. Anyone wanting the sea outside the window will be happier elsewhere.

A Puglia spa resort: Vair Spa, its Roman baths and its rules

Would you go?

Keep it among your hotels and see it on the budget globe, month by month.

Like a regular

One of La Corte’s pools by day: white loungers and parasols, 2 canopied daybeds, a stone wall with bougainvillea and stone buildings beyond the trees.
  1. Corte, Borgo or Casa

As a couple I would ask for La Corte, whose rooms, 2 pools and restaurants are closed to under-13s from June to September and at Easter, Christmas and New Year. With 2 children, a Casetta Splendida in Il Borgo: 2 floors, a kitchenette, bunk beds.

  2. The weeks that cost less

On 13 October 2026 the cheapest week in Google Hotels’ calendar was 22 to 28 November 2026: €450 to €555, its lowest price for a single night for 2. Booked together on the hotel’s own site that day, the 7 nights were €554 a night: a Borgo Bella room, breakfast included, prepaid.

  3. On top of the rate

The hotel adds a discretionary 5% service charge to the final bill. Fasano’s tourist tax, the same since 2021, is paid at check-out: €5 per person per night from 15 June to 15 October, €4.50 in the other months from April to December, 7 nights at most, under-12s exempt.

  4. Saturday night in the piazza

The Feste del Borgo are held in the Piazza on fixed evenings from June to October, each around its own theme, and the hotel publishes the year’s calendar: in 2026, 13 of the 15 fell on a Saturday. Each evening has its own booking, online or by phone.

What Borgo Egnazia is

Borgo Egnazia is a Puglian village built from scratch, in local stone, among the olive groves of Savelletri: it opened in 2010, and in 2024 the G7 met here. From the piazza you take one lane, lose yourself in the next, and meanwhile decide whether today belongs to the sea or to warm water.

The sea here has 2 faces. Cala Masciola is a rocky bay with the beach club, open from May to non-residents too; La Fonte is sand, a beach the hotel dedicates to families staying at the Borgo, with room to play. Guests reach both by shuttle, because the resort itself is not on the sea.

Or you go underground. Vair Spa plays with temperature: the heated indoor pool, the sauna, then the ice fountain; in 2023 the World Spa Awards named it Italy’s Best Hotel Spa. In the evening, everyone drifts back to the piazza. It is a resort for a different day every morning, and the bill is to match: choose the room, beach and treatments with the terms of your rate in front of you.

Borgo Egnazia has 2,918 reviews on Google: on 27 September 2026 we gathered 2,000 of them, and 940 had text. We chose 7 videos by 6 creators and 32 photographs, and measured 4 walks on the map, from the gate to the harbour, the sea, the golf course and the ruins. The surprise in those texts was the festivals: 23 reviews describe the Borgo’s festival nights, with long tables, music and dancing in the piazza, and 20 of them give 5 stars. Some guests call them by name: the pumpkin, the cherry, the lights, the phoenix, the summer solstice.

Two Lumi

Lumina Guide 2027

Exceptional: two of our three readings say so.

Borgo Egnazia looks like a Puglian village that has always stood there, yet it was built stone by stone among the olive groves of Savelletri.

How Lumi are awarded
  • Guests

500 reviews read: breakfast pleases more than 9 guests in 10 who mention it, the location 9 in 10.

  • Critics (exceptional)

  • Ours (exceptional)

We found 8 restaurants, from the MICHELIN star at Due Camini to the trattoria La Frasca, the Vair Spa, Italy’s Best Hotel Spa at the 2023 World Spa Awards, and Case of 250 m² with a private pool.

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

Among the olive groves, with the Adriatic a few minutes away by shuttle; by car, Polignano a Mare is 26 minutes off, the airports of Brindisi and Bari 50 and 71.

  2. Character

A stone village born in 2010 and designed as if it had stood for centuries: the piazza, the lanes, the courtyards.

  3. Rooms

From 33 m² in a La Corte Bella to 500 m² in the Casa Padronale, with stone bathrooms; the Casette have 2 floors and a kitchenette, the Case 250 m² and a private pool.

  4. Food and social life

8 restaurants, from the MICHELIN star at Due Camini to the trattoria La Frasca, plus one just for children. Guests write about the breakfast, included in the flexible rate and, in the Case, cooked in the kitchen.

  5. Wellness

Vair Spa was named Italy’s Best Hotel Spa at the 2023 World Spa Awards. The indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym come with the room; the Roman baths and treatments are extra.

  6. The stay as a whole

For a spa holiday in Puglia, as a couple or with children, this is the resort to book. On a tight budget, or if you want to open the window onto the sea, look elsewhere.

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

What the badges are

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Borgo Egnazia’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the stone village among the olive trees, the lanes where getting lost is half the fun, and the piazza with its long tables and music on feast nights.

  2. Room

7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The Case, villas with a private pool, delight families, who write about the 3 floors, the space and the bicycles for getting round the resort.

  3. Staff and service

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about attentive staff and remember by name their Local Adviser, the person who arranges outings and bookings throughout the stay.

  4. Breakfast

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about a generous buffet, with produce from the garden and Puglian dishes; in the Case breakfast is cooked in the kitchen, at the hour you choose.

  5. Price

The bill guests write about here is the one at table: the village restaurants, the grill, drinks at the bar.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 4 October 2022 to 27 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay on the Fasano coast: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 1 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against on the Fasano coast:

  • Masseria Torre Maizza
  • Masseria Torre Coccaro
  • Masseria San Domenico
  • Il Melograno
  • Canne Bianche Lifestyle Hotel

Price: for two on the night of 23 March 2027, from €405 (seen on Google Hotels on 13 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

On 13 October 2026 the lowest price Google Hotels showed for a single night for 2 started at €450 from early November to early December, at €405 in late March 2027 and at €1,135 from July to early September, when it reached €1,780. For the sea without July’s prices I would look at 2 to 19 May 2027: no night was above €978, and the beach club at Cala Masciola opens in May.

Each figure is the lowest price Google Hotels showed for that night searched as a single night, for 2 adults, read on 13 October 2026; the calendar ran to 8 September 2027. It gave no price from 6 January to 19 March 2027, when the hotel’s own booking calendar had no night on sale, or on 44 other nights. Left out of the rows: 15 December 2026, at €1,114 with no priced night either side, and 30 May 2027, at €5,000 with €1,410 the night after.

Frequently asked questions

19 questions, each answered from sources read on 27 and 28 September 2026.

How much does a night at Borgo Egnazia cost?

In Google Hotels’ calendar, read on 13 October 2026, the lowest price shown for a single night for 2 adults was €450 on Monday 23 November 2026 and €405 on Tuesday 23 March 2027, the lowest night in the calendar; New Year’s Eve was €1,020, and in July 2027 it was €1,426 on Saturday the 10th and €1,780 on Friday the 2nd. On the hotel’s own booking site the same day, the 7 nights from 22 November 2026 booked together came to €554 a night for 2 in a Borgo Bella room, on the prepaid rate. Google’s calendar gave no price from 6 January to 19 March 2027, and the hotel’s own booking calendar had no night on sale in those weeks. The hotel’s rates include breakfast, and the spa’s wet area comes with the room. On top come Fasano’s city tax, €4.50 to €5 per person per night for up to 7 nights and nothing from January to March, and a discretionary 5% service charge on the final bill.

What do guests say, and is it worth it?

For a spa holiday, with or without children, the scores say yes. On Google it has 4.7 out of 5 from 2,917 reviews; on Tripadvisor 4.5 from 2,049, with a Travelers’ Choice 2026 award and 4 out of 5 for value; on Booking.com 9.5 out of 10 from 403, with breakfast at 9.5; on Expedia 9.6 from 337. Among the themes Google counts, the property and service receive the most praise, followed by family stays and breakfast; guests discussing the rooms mention the Case with their private pools and, in summer 2026, the air conditioning. Tripadvisor’s summary of its reviews also names expensive meals and service that can be uneven.

Which restaurants are there, and what is Due Camini like?

8, according to the official site: Due Camini, with a MICHELIN star and cooking built around vegetables, serving dinner Tuesday to Saturday from 7.30pm to 10pm and closed on Sundays and Mondays; La Frasca, a Puglian trattoria; Il Porticato, open all day above La Corte’s pools; the Ossolungo grill; A pizzeri, with its wood-fired oven, outdoors; Cala Masciola, the beach club’s seafood restaurant, in summer; Da Frisella, the restaurant for children up to 12; and La Cantina. There are 3 bars: Bar del Portico, with live music, and Capanno and Angoletto by the pools. Tables are booked online through SevenRooms; the site does not publish the other restaurants’ hours. Gambero Rosso’s 2026 guide named Due Camini the best vegetarian experience.

Is breakfast included?

On the flexible rate, yes: it is a buffet, which guests rate 9.5 out of 10 on Booking.com, and Google lists it as free. In the Case, a local housekeeper cooks breakfast in the kitchen. On a room-only rate, the price of breakfast is not published.

What is Vair Spa like?

It lies underground, along stone corridors, Vogue writes, and it has everything: a wet area with sanarium, sauna, steam room, ice fountain and relaxation room, the heated indoor pool, infrared chairs, a Technogym gym with an indoor room and an outdoor area, the Roman baths, a circuit of hot and cold waters, and a flotation tank. Booking.com gives it 1,800 m², Gemini 2,000; the hotel publishes no size. In 2023 the World Spa Awards named it Italy’s Best Hotel Spa, and in 2025 Vogue added it to its Global Spa Guide.

Is the spa included in the stay, and can outside guests use it?

Largely, yes, and outside guests can come in for a fee. Hotel guests have the sauna, steam room, sanarium, ice fountain, relaxation room, indoor pool and gym included, Vogue wrote in 2024; the Roman baths and treatments are extra. On 27 September 2026 Perplexity wrote that the spa costs €40 a day for hotel guests too: on the spa’s website, that €40 is paid by those not staying. Outside guests book and prepay treatments 24 hours ahead, plus €40 each to use the spa all day; without treatments, the wet area and gym cost €80 per person for the day. Spa days for outside guests cost from €375 to €555.

What are the spa’s hours, and do I need to book?

From 9am to 7pm according to Vair Spa’s website, from 10.30am to 8pm every day according to the Leading Hotels of the World page; the indoor pool is open all day, the hotel says. And yes, you book: every experience goes through the spa’s reception or Guest Service, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before; after that, you pay in full.

How much do treatments cost?

Massages run from €155 for 45 minutes to €245 for 75, according to Vair Spa’s menu; the sea-inspired U Mâre is €165 for 50 minutes. Face and body treatments go up to €305 for 75 minutes; the Roman baths run from €125 for 50 minutes, €170 for 2, to €245 for 120 minutes, €425 for 2; the flotation tank is €75 for 20 minutes. The products are made from local ingredients, from Mediterranean sea salt to olive oil and herbs.

What is the beach like, and how far is it?

There are 2 private beaches, and the resort overlooks neither: guests reach them by shuttle, which one guest says runs every 20 minutes. Cala Masciola is a rocky bay with the beach club, loungers, private cabanas, the seafood restaurant and the water-sports centre, open from May and to non-residents too; La Fonte is an equipped sandy beach that the hotel dedicates to families staying at the Borgo. By public road Cala Masciola is 2.1 km, about 5 minutes by car. The resort’s own pages, read on 15 October 2026, give no distance for the path inside the estate, which is not on public maps.

What are the pools like, and are they heated?

There are 4 shared pools. Vair Spa’s indoor pool is heated and open all day, and children can swim there with an adult; the 2 outdoor pools in La Corte are for guests over 12 in summer and over the holidays; the family pool in Il Borgo, beside the kids club, is heated from mid-September to mid-June, according to Mr & Mrs Smith. On 27 September 2026 Gemini wrote that the outdoor pools are not heated in November: Mr & Mrs Smith says otherwise. Water temperatures are not published; a July 2026 guest puts La Corte’s 2 pools at 32 and 36 metres long. The 28 Case and the La Egnazia suite have private pools.

Is it good for children?

Yes, with one rule: from June to September, and at Easter, Christmas and New Year, La Corte, with its pools and restaurants, is kept for guests over 12, and families stay in Il Borgo or the Case. There are 3 clubs: Trullalleri for ages 3 to 7, Marinai for 8 to 12 and Tarantari for 13 to 16; Da Frisella is the restaurant for children up to 12. At Vair Spa under-16s can only have the treatments designed for them, and under-18s need written consent from a parent; Mr & Mrs Smith calls the spa adults-only, which is wrong. A cot is free and an extra bed costs €150 a night, according to Booking.com.

Can you hold a wedding there, and what does it cost?

Yes: enquiries go to the hotel’s celebrations office, and the whole resort can be booked for exclusive use. La Piazza seats about 350, Italian Venues writes, and the 2018 events brochure lists 11 rooms, up to the Arena of 600 m², with 532 seats in theatre style. The hotel publishes no prices: one wedding guide says quotes start from a block of 20 to 30 rooms for 3 or 4 nights plus a minimum spend on food and drink, and the most recent estimate, from Italian Venues on 16 July 2026, is €130,000 to €250,000 for about 50 guests.

What is the golf like, and do guests get a discount?

Yes, guests of the group’s hotels pay less. San Domenico Golf, 18 holes between the olive groves and the sea, is next to La Corte and part of the same group: in 2026 its hotel guests pay €65 for 18 holes in low season, €80 in mid season, €95 in high season, from May to July and in September and October, and €105 in August, against €95, €110, €130 and €150 for everyone else. You need an EGA handicap of 36 or better, and a cart costs €55 for 18 holes. Expedia lists the course as closed from 21 to 25 October 2026. The hotel’s offers page has no golf package.

Is the resort open all year?

Not on its own booking calendar. Read on 13 October 2026, the hotel’s booking site had no night on sale from 6 January to 19 March 2027, from 8 to 22 December 2026, or on 2 to 4, 9 to 12 and 19 to 21 November 2026; Google Hotels showed no price for those nights either, 15 December apart. The hotel’s 3 nights in the Borgo offer leaves out what it calls seasonal closures, without giving dates. Gemini and Perplexity said it is open all year. The Cala Masciola beach club opens from May.

What happens on New Year’s Eve?

A New Year’s Eve in the village: on 31 December, the hotel’s Christmas 2026 page announces dinner, the courtyards, music and a party through midnight. Over the holidays there are also Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas lunch at La Frasca and Quattro Torri, with special menus. Menus and prices are not published: the page links to a package in the hotel’s booking engine. In Google Hotels’ calendar, read on 13 October 2026, the lowest price shown for the night of 31 December alone was €1,020 for 2.
