The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in South Malé Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 7 October 2026. The north side at Christmas

A couple who spent Christmas 2025 here had 29 to 30 °C and a light breeze. They found the north side the best for snorkelling, with small sharks coming close to the shore in the morning, and staff at reception and in the restaurant who speak good Italian.

Sharks at the jetty

In February 2026 a guest spent whole days snorkelling: the reef with hundreds of fish, reef sharks seen by day and, in the evening, more watched from the jetty. The room was a couple of steps from the ocean, with its own loungers.

Which Water Villa to ask for

In February 2026 a guest found their Water Villa very spacious, with a bathtub looking out to sea and a large deck. They recommend villas 501 to 506, less windy and facing the sunset, and reckon on almost €200 of Green Tax for 8 nights for 2.

A Water Villa in March

In March 2026, after a stay in a Water Villa, a guest found the island lovely and uncrowded, with sharks to watch from the jetty at night using the torch left in the room. Inside, though, the villa felt very old, and they would not recommend it until the work is done.

In September 2026, 2 guests in a Deluxe Sky found the room a good size and clean, the cooking varied and the spa excellent. At breakfast, on the other hand, the same cold cuts every day, hours from 7 to 9am that felt too short and, at Blue Lagoon Bar, drinks to be ordered at the counter.

Questions before you go

The questions people ask before booking Fihalhohi, answered from sources read between 3 and 7 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Fihalhohi Maldives?

A 4-star resort, as Google Hotels and Tripadvisor class it, with 150 rooms on Fihalhohi, an island in South Malé Atoll with nothing else on it. The sustainability page names its parent company as Fehi Moorthi, «green» in Dhivehi, and says the resort follows Travelife standards.

The official calendar marks Fiha’s 44th anniversary on 20 October, and in 2017 a guest already put it at 35 years old, which dates the opening to 1982. Booking.com and its Facebook page still call it Fihalhohi Island Resort, and guests say you can walk round the island in 20 minutes.

Which rooms can you choose, and how big are they?

The rooms page lists 5 types: 12 Water Villas of 37 m² over the lagoon, 22 Premium Beach rooms of 27 m² on the north beach, 24 Deluxe Superior rooms of 28 m² in the garden, and the Deluxe Beach and Deluxe Sky rooms of 27 m², on the ground and first floors of 2-storey buildings, 46 of each according to the home page. Tripadvisor gives the same total of 150.

All have air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a minibar, a safe and a kettle. There is a bathtub in the Water Villas, the Deluxe Beach and the Deluxe Sky rooms; a TV in the Water Villas, Premium Beach and Deluxe Superior rooms; and a coffee machine only in the Premium Beach rooms. Guests describe the rooms as spacious and clean; some have been renovated, and at the end of January 2026 not all had been.

Where is it, and is the island quiet?

In South Malé Atoll, 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana airport: the official site says 28 km, Tripadvisor 24.9 miles, about 40 km. The nearest island is Rannalhi, 3 km away, and excursions go to the inhabited island of Guraidhoo.

It is a green, quiet island, with hammocks and swings among the palms; in the evening there is karaoke, a film or a DJ at Fisherman’s Bar. A guest in January 2026 writes that with about 400 people on the island everyone still finds their own peace.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the speedboat cost?

By speedboat from Velana airport, in about 45 minutes. The shared transfer costs $180 per adult and $90 per child aged 2 to 14, return, taxes included, and children under 2 travel free, according to the official FAQ; the wait at the airport runs from 30 to 60 minutes.

A private transfer is arranged through reservations, and Booking.com gives $1,100 return for up to 4 people. Flight details are due 72 hours ahead; guests time the crossing at 30 to 60 minutes.

Can you arrive by car or park?

No: Fihalhohi is an island with no roads, and Booking.com notes that it can be reached by speedboat only. No source describes any parking, and guests say they go barefoot everywhere, even to the restaurant.

How do you get into the sea?

From the beach, which runs right round the island apart from 2 short stretches where boats moor, a guest at the end of January 2026 reports; the Water Villas have direct access to the lagoon.

There are bits of broken coral along the shore, and several guests, in January and September 2026, recommend reef shoes. The entry is long and shallow, with the tide rising from 9am to midday, a guest wrote in September 2025.

Is there a house reef you can swim to?

Yes: Fiha Dive’s dive site map starts with the north and south house reefs. A guided snorkel on the house reef costs $20 for 2 hours, a night snorkel with a torch $35, according to the activities price list.

Between January and September 2026 guests write differently about the coral: some describe it as largely dead, one describes reefs that are recovering, with branching and fan corals, and fish, turtles and sharks around them; for a family in September 2026 the snorkelling is world-class. Mask, snorkel and fins can be hired for $13 a day or $65 for 6 days.

What pools are there?

None. The official facilities and room pages list no pool, guests remarked on its absence in 2017, 2023 and 2024, and no room has a private pool.

You swim in the lagoon that rings the island and on the reef. A guest in 2024 explains that this is why dive training takes place in the sea itself, where the water is warm.

Is the pool heated, and when is it open?

Fihalhohi has no pool, so there are no hours or temperatures to give. At Christmas 2025, says one couple who were there, the sea was warm and the air 29 to 30 °C.

Where can you eat, and until when?

According to the dining page: Palm Grove, the only restaurant, a buffet of international and Maldivian cooking, with breakfast from 7 to 9am, lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 7 to 9pm, themed dinners and a Maldivian night on Fridays. Blue Lagoon Bar, by the water, serves an à la carte menu from 8.30am to midnight, and Fisherman’s Bar has cocktails, shakes and shisha until the same hour.

The Beach Hut, on the north beach, sells beer, juice and soft drinks from 10am to 6pm. The private dining menu offers dinner on the beach: lobster at $100 a person, a seafood platter at $110, a champagne breakfast at $150 a couple, plus service and GST. Guests praise the variety of the buffet and its Italian and Indian dishes.

Which meal plans are there, and what do they include?

On the official booking engine, read on 7 October 2026 for 10 January 2027, there were 2 rates: buffet breakfast and all-inclusive, which cost $160 more a night for 2 in every room, $635 against $475 in a Deluxe Beach room and $983 against $823 in a Water Villa, taxes included.

According to the all-inclusive page the plan covers buffet meals at Palm Grove, afternoon snacks at Blue Lagoon Bar and a choice of cocktails, mocktails, wines and soft drinks; the Beach Hut is not part of it. Guests in 2025 and 2026 recommend it, and a review from August 2026 also mentions half board, which the engine did not show for that night.

What is the spa like?

Huvandhumaa Spa, the «jasmine spa», sits in a garden and has 5 treatment rooms, according to the facilities page; the menu speaks of a quiet, private spa bungalow. It offers Asian massage, Ayurvedic treatments, facials and body treatments, a range for men and one for children.

A sauna and a jacuzzi appear in the menu’s couples’ packages, such as Couple Connect, 120 minutes for $263 with a massage, a face massage and a bubble bath, and Booking.com lists both among the facilities. The site gives no size for the spa and does not mention a steam room.

Is the spa included, is there a fee, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are paid for separately, plus a 10% service charge and 17% GST, and the spa takes walk-ins when it has room, according to the spa menu. No official page publishes a day pass for anyone not staying on the island.

Day packages do exist: a group of visitors bought one in August 2026, and they describe day visitors having their own loungers and their own dining area, apart from guests staying on the island. The site does not present the package or say whether it includes the spa.

What are the spa’s hours?

From 9am to 6pm every day, according to the 2025 spa menu, which advises booking ahead. Arrive 15 minutes early for the health form, as a late start shortens the treatment; cancelling with less than 4 hours’ notice costs 50%, and a no-show pays in full.

Which treatments does it offer, and at what prices?

From the spa menu, prices plus a 10% service charge and 17% GST: the 90-minute signature massage with warm jasmine oil at $130, Swedish and Balinese massages of 50 minutes at $90, a 60-minute 4-hand massage at $145, and Ayurvedic shirodhara of 90 minutes at $135, or $390 for 3 sessions.

For couples, Couple Chocolate Delight lasts 135 minutes and costs $290, and Swept Away 175 minutes and $335, with a sauna, a scrub and a jacuzzi with 2 glasses of wine. A 50-minute private yoga class costs $35, and children aged 5 to 12 have a 45-minute massage at $40.

Can you go with children?

Yes, within limits. Under the official terms children may stay in a Water Villa only if a waiver is signed on arrival, and they are not allowed in the Deluxe Sky rooms; the Premium Beach, Deluxe Superior and Deluxe Beach rooms sleep 2 adults and 2 children. Booking.com gives a free cot under 2, an extra bed at $82 a night and adult rates from 12.

The site presents no kids’ club. There is the Bubblemaker, a first go with scuba gear down to 2 metres for children aged 8 and 9, at $110, the spa’s children’s corner for ages 5 to 12, and 25% off diving under 12. A family in September 2026 loved the reef.

What is there on the island besides the rooms?

According to the facilities page: 24-hour reception, in-room dining, laundry, free Wi-Fi, a boutique, a photographer, a medical clinic, a gym and free land sports, with badminton, table tennis, billiards, table football and board games. Then the PADI 5-Star dive school, the water sports centre and the spa.

On the water you can hire a catamaran, canoe, paddleboard, windsurf or kitesurf, and go out on a jet ski, a banana boat, a flyboard or a parasail, according to the price list: jet skis start at $50 for 15 minutes. There is an organic garden, which a guest in January 2026 recommends seeing on the free Chef’s Garden tour. Pets are not allowed, says Booking.com.

What offers are there?

The official offers page, read on 3 October 2026, had one: up to 25% off stays of 7 nights or more, with early check-in if the room is ready, bookable only by writing to reservations. The same page gives it as valid until 31 October and, further down, until 31 July 2026.

Booking on the official site lets you pay later, with a best-rate guarantee and flexible cancellation, as the home page says. Booking.com describes a honeymoon package, within 6 months of the wedding, with a bottle of sparkling wine, a basket of fruit and a cake.

Can you get married at Fihalhohi?

The official site publishes no wedding packages, prices or capacities. The facilities page lists a renewal of vows, «simple or special», and a photographer, and Booking.com the honeymoon package.

In December 2025 a guest proposed during a sunset dinner, under an arch of flowers and candles the resort had set up; other couples describe private dinners on the beach.

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

Yes, and it is compulsory, but the official sources give 2 prices: the FAQ asks $250 for adults from 15 and $125 for children aged 2 to 14, drinks excluded, the terms $200 and $100, service and GST included. Booking.com gives $250 and $125, with adults from 12. For Christmas Eve the FAQ asks $170 and $85, the terms $160 and $80.

The events calendar promises fireworks, live music and a countdown on the beach, and on Christmas Eve gala dinners, carols and Father Christmas. A guest in January 2026 found the New Year’s Eve dinner spectacular.

Can you play golf?

No: no official source mentions golf. The island’s activities are the sea, diving, water sports, dhoni excursions and land sports, from badminton to billiards.

When is it open, and when is the best season?

Google also showed no prices from 22 to 26 October and from 2 to 4 January 2027, and for 23 October the engine showed the rooms as unavailable. The manta season runs from May to November, according to Fiha Dive’s FAQ; a couple who were there at Christmas 2025 had fine weather.
