ROBINSON MALDIVES, 124 adults-only villas on the club’s all-inclusive plan, on the island of Funamadua in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, 60 km north of the equator
It suits couples and solo travellers who like days full of sport and classes in company, with the club’s own reef 20 to 200 metres from the beach. If you want to be on the island soon after landing at Malé, the 1 hour and 40 minutes of flight and speedboat, plus waits there of up to 5 hours, may weigh against it.

I would ask for the Beach Villa Superior Sea View: front row on the beach, 71 m² and a partly open bathroom with shower and bath. A guest who wrote in November 2025 recommends a beach villa with a direct sea view.
The months that cost less
On the club’s engine, read 7 October 2026, the cheapest villa for 2 adults, all-inclusive and non-refundable on a 2-night stay, cost $457 a night from 10 November and $483 from 8 or 22 December, against $575 from 12 January 2027.
What comes on top
Budget for the $12 environment fee per person per day, paid on the island, and for the transfer, which the total price leaves out. Late check-out costs 50% of the club’s daily rate for the villa category, and the teppanyaki restaurant is charged.
The club’s app
The club’s page puts the daily programme and spa bookings in the ROBINSON app. 2 guests who wrote in November 2025 and July 2026 installed it before arriving or advise it; 2 more in 2026 found it handy for planning activities or booking padel.
What ROBINSON MALDIVES is
ROBINSON, the TUI group’s club brand, has run the whole of Funamadua since 2009: 10.7 hectares in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, about 60 km north of the equator. All 124 units are villas, in the garden and on the beach at 65 to 77 m², or over the water at 56 to 87 m² with a private pool on the deck. Guests must be 18 or over, and they come from everywhere: classes run in German and English.
The «made by ROBINSON» all-inclusive plan covers the main restaurant’s buffets and almost everything poured at the bars; the teppanyaki, the minibar and room service are charged. The house reef, 20 to 200 metres off the shore by the club’s reckoning, is the reason to come: masks and fins are free, and guests in 2026 describe blacktip sharks, rays, turtles and, with luck, dolphins. Of the 472 Google reviews with text, 92% of those discussing staff and services are positive, and 90% of those discussing the location.
It is a club to choose for the house reef and for days of sport and classes in company; anyone who wants a short journey from Malé will be happier elsewhere. On top of the stay come diving, excursions, the teppanyaki and the minibar, plus the $12 green tax per person per day, paid on the island. Guests describe building work through 2024 and 2025, which produced the new water villas they praise highly.

The scores come from 472 Google reviews with text, left from 9 September 2012 to 2 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the far south of the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 7 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in the far south of the Maldives:
The main restaurant serves breakfast from 8 to 11, lunch from 1 to 2.30 and dinner from 7.30 to 9.15, with buffets that change daily and Ayurvedic, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The teppanyaki opens on selected evenings from 7.30 and is charged; guests come back to the food more than to anything else, and one likens it to a starred restaurant.
The treatment rooms, couples’ rooms among them, open onto the garden beside a Finnish sauna and a relaxation area; a little further on are the gym with its Power Plate and an open-air WellFit space. Balinese, Thai, Indian and Ayurvedic massages are charged, and the site publishes neither prices nor hours.
The reef rings the island 20 to 200 metres from the beach, and the dive centre rates it well suited to beginners and very suitable for the experienced, with current and big fish. Mask, fins and snorkel are free to borrow; PADI dives, guided snorkelling and the boat trips for turtles and dolphins are charged.
Good to know before you book
A hotel-only rate leaves the transfer out: on 7 October 2026 Booking.com built it into its totals at $910 per person. Source: booking.com
It is a long way: from Malé a domestic flight of about 70 minutes to Kaadedhdhoo, on 17- or 50-seat aircraft, then 30 minutes by speedboat, with waits at Malé the club puts at up to 5 hours. Land after about 11 pm and you sleep in the capital; the speedboat, says Booking.com, leaves at 3.30 pm. A hotel-only rate leaves the transfer out.
The plan covers the buffets, house wine, beer and soft drinks with meals and the bars’ drinks all day, bar selected wines, sparkling wines and premium spirits. On top come the teppanyaki, minibar, room service, diving, excursions, laundry and the $12 green tax per person per day.
Adults only, from 18, and no extra beds or cots according to Booking.com: there is no children’s club. The crowd is international with a strong German-speaking share, and classes are held in German and English.
Only the water villas have a private pool; the garden and beach villas have a terrace and a part-open bathroom, and everyone shares the 30-metre freshwater main pool.
Guests describe building work through 2024 and 2025 and new water villas they praise highly.

Robinson Maldives reviews
The platforms’ scores, read on 3 October 2026, and what guests say about the reef, the food and the upkeep.
On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 688 ratings. The figures by theme come from the 472 reviews with text, from September 2012 to October 2026, more than half of them in German. They are accounts of stays we have not checked.

A fortnight’s honeymoon
A Norwegian couple on honeymoon stayed 14 days: a water villa the management upgraded them to as a wedding present, the outdoor cinema tried among the first, and perfect snorkelling with kit lent free.
In July 2026 a guest who knew the Maldives spent most of the stay in a beach villa: straight into the sea each morning, the island walked round in 30 to 40 minutes, the last night in a villa on the reef.
In June 2026 a beginner couple were guided to the edge of the drop-off among clownfish, lionfish and blacktip reef sharks, then tried scuba with one of the dive centre’s instructors.
In September 2026 a guest gave 4 stars: the kindest staff and good food, but a week of overflowing bins, the previous night’s dishes still out at 11 and cables hanging loose by the paths. The best memory was the new Sundowner Bar.
In January 2026 a couple in the Funamadua water villa gave 2 stars: half the shore lined with slippery sandbags, a 3-metre steel ladder down to the sea and a club that shows its years. The staff, they write, try very hard.
In April 2025 a couple found the island still under construction, the speciality restaurant shut and work next to the main pool; in their new water villa the bathroom flooded when it rained. Their complaint, they say, was turned down.
What people ask before booking ROBINSON MALDIVES, answered from the sources read between 3 and 7 October 2026.
What kind of resort is ROBINSON MALDIVES?
An adults-only all-inclusive club of the ROBINSON brand, part of the TUI group, rated 5 stars locally, on a private island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The official page counts 124 units on 107,000 m² and dates the club to 2009; floors, the jetty and the terrace were redone in 2013, and in 2015 the jetty was rebuilt with 20 more water bungalows.
Its club profile rates it excellent for couples, the beach, the spa and diving, and suitable for solo travellers. The brand’s second Maldives club, ROBINSON Noonu, in Noonu Atoll, also takes families.
Which villas can you book, and how big are they?
There are 7 official categories, all villas with a king bed, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a safe, a fridge and a coffee and tea maker. The garden holds 2 types of 65 m², the cheaper in what the site calls a non-optimal location; the beach 2 types of 71 and 77 m², one in the front row on the sand.
Over the water there are 3 types, each with a private pool: the classic of 56 m² with a 45 m² deck, the reef villa of 58 m² for 2 adults and the one-bedroom villa of 87 m² for up to 4. The total is 124 units, but the cards print «1» room per category beside «at least 10 available», so the count per type is uncertain; Expedia lists 121.
Where is it, and is the island quiet?
On the island of Funamadua in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, in the far south of the Maldives, about 60 km north of the equator and more than 100 km from Malé, according to the official page. The Google listing puts it 22 km from Kaadedhdhoo Airport, and Tripadvisor files it under Dhevvadhoo, another island of the atoll.
The club’s own FAQ calls it secluded, with no inhabited island in view and nowhere to walk to for a meal. The evenings are a club’s, though: the site promises plenty of events and beach parties, while the club profile rates its shows of «limited suitability», and the German page calls it less about entertainment and parties.
How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?
By the local airline’s domestic flight to Kaadedhdhoo, about 70 minutes, and then 30 minutes by speedboat, says the official page: some 1 hour 40 minutes in all, plus waits at Malé of up to about 5 hours, because successive arrivals travel on together. The flight depends on the airline’s timetable, and from about 11 pm, or in bad weather, guests stay the night in Malé.
The transfer is not part of a hotel-only price; the German page includes it in TUI and airtours packages. Booking.com, on 7 October 2026, built it into its totals at $910 per person per stay, and Expedia leaves the rate to the property. Booking.com adds that the speedboat leaves Kaadedhdhoo at 3.30 pm.
Can you drive there or park?
No: Funamadua is an island reached only by air and sea, with no roads or cars, and you walk round it in half an hour. None of the club’s pages mentions parking; the last stretch, from Kaadedhdhoo, is by speedboat.
What is the beach like, and how do you get into the sea?
The club is on the beach: the official page calls it «direct», of sand, with winds of force 1 to 3 and waves from none to moderate. The Superior villas stand in the front row, and the classic water villas’ decks give straight onto the sea.
Guests describe the reef a few metres out, within swimming reach of the beach. The one-bedroom villa, says a couple in January 2026, reaches the water by a steel ladder of about 3 metres.
Is there a house reef you can swim to?
Yes: the club’s own house reef lies about 20 to 200 metres out, depending on where you are, and the PADI dive centre rates it well suited to beginners and very suitable for the experienced, with current and big fish. Mask, fins and snorkel are lent free; dives, including trial and drift dives, courses and guided snorkelling are charged.
In 2026 guests report blacktip sharks, rays, turtles and lionfish, and some dolphins; a guest in 2023 adds manta rays.
What are the pools like?
One freshwater main pool, 30 metres long, 10 to 17 wide and 80 to 200 cm deep, with a pool bar, according to the club’s fact sheet; loungers, parasols and towels are included. The 3 water-villa types each have a private pool on the deck, about 10 m² on the reef villa and about 24 m² on the one-bedroom villa.
The garden and beach villas have no pool of their own. Google Hotels lists a hot tub and an adults-only pool, and Booking.com villas with spa baths; the site mentions neither.
Is the pool heated, and when is it open?
It does not need to be: the club’s fact sheet calls heating unnecessary, and the club is open all year. The site publishes no pool hours; the pool bar runs from 11 am to 6 pm.
Where do you eat, and until when?
According to the Eat & Drink section there are 2 restaurants and 3 bars. The main restaurant serves breakfast from 8 to 11 am, lunch from 1 to 2.30 pm and dinner from 7.30 to 9.15 pm; the teppanyaki opens from 7.30 pm on selected evenings and is charged. The main bar opens at 11 am and closes late, the pool bar runs from 11 am to 6 pm and the Sundowner Bar from 5.30 to 8 pm.
The kitchen does vegetarian, vegan, wholefood and lactose-free dishes, and allergy menus by arrangement with the club; under the BalAyur concept there are Ayurvedic dishes every day. The site asks for smart dress at dinner. Booking.com names the second restaurant «Maa in veligadu»; the site calls it the teppanyaki.
What does the all-inclusive plan cover, and what is extra?
It is the only plan the booking engine sells. The «made by ROBINSON» plan, says the official page, covers the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets and, with meals, speciality coffee, tea, water and juices in the morning and house wine, beer, water and soft drinks at lunch and dinner. At the bars drinks are included all day, bar selected wines, sparkling wines, spirits and specialities; water is free from refill stations.
Charged: the teppanyaki, the minibar, room service, the Wine & Dine dinner with a bottle, champagne and a barbecue on the villa terrace, diving, excursions and laundry. In April 2026 a guest found a 10% service charge on the bills, and in November 2025 another paid for breakfast served at a table on the beach.
What is the spa like?
The WellFit Spa, which the site says is run by an outside company, has a Finnish sauna, a relaxation area and rooms for massage and beauty treatments, couples’ rooms included. The site gives no floor area and no steam room.
Next to it are the gym, with cardio and strength equipment and a Power Plate station with on-screen programmes, and an open-air WellFit area; once a week a WellFit Day brings special classes. The club profile rates the spa excellent.
Is the spa included or charged, and can outside guests use it?
Treatments are charged: the official page lists cosmetic treatments, massages and Ayurveda as extras, while Pilates and yoga sit among the club’s classes. The site says nothing about sauna entry; Booking.com, on 7 October 2026, printed «unlimited spa access» beside its 10 November rates.
No page offers a day pass to anyone not staying, on a private island reached only by the club’s transfer. The Loabin Ekugai wedding package includes a 60-minute couples’ massage.
What are the spa’s hours?
The official page publishes no hours for the WellFit Spa or the sauna; treatments are booked in the ROBINSON app, which also shows the day’s programme. Sunrise yoga takes place on the timber deck over the sea.
Which treatments are offered, and at what prices?
From the site: standard and natural cosmetic treatments, standard and wellness massages, Balinese, Thai and Indian massages, and Ayurveda, with Abhyanga for the whole body, Pristabhyanga for the back and Padabhyanga for the feet, singly or as a package.
Prices are not published and are given on the island. Guests in 2023 and 2026 count the spa and its massages among the best of their stay.
Is it suitable for children? Is there a kids’ club?
No, the club is adults-only: the official fact sheet admits guests from 18, and alcohol is served only from 18. Booking.com and Expedia agree, with no extra beds or cots.
For a holiday with children the brand points to ROBINSON Noonu, in the north, with its ROBY CLUB from age 3.
What is on the island besides the villas?
According to the club plan: reception, the main restaurant and the teppanyaki, the main bar, pool bar and Sundowner Bar, the pool, the WellFit Spa, the Body & Mind room, the gym with the sauna, the padel court and the beach volleyball and football pitches, the dive and water-sports centre, the doctor and the ROBIN Store with a bridal atelier.
Included sport runs from beach volleyball and badminton to table tennis, billiards and padel with rackets; catamaran, stand-up paddling and water skiing are charged through an outside company. Wi-Fi is included in many public areas and every villa, with faster packages for a fee, and a medical assistant is on call around the clock.
What offers and packages are there?
On 7 October 2026 the club page offered 7 nights from 12 to 19 May 2027, 2 adults, hotel only on the all-inclusive plan, at a total price per night of £280 for the Villa Economy, £294 for the Classic Garden View and £649 for the reef water villa; the Italian page quoted €330 and €347 for the first 2.
Guests with flexible dates can book as a RoomHopper, at the cheapest category’s price, moving villa up to 4 times. Couples’ packages are booked on the island, and November 2026 brings 2 themed programmes at no charge: qigong from 3 to 20 November and a back-fitness programme from 6 to 29 November.
Can you get married at ROBINSON MALDIVES?
You can hold a ceremony on the beach, which the site says has no legal standing. The Umurah Loabin package includes the bride’s hair and make-up, a bouquet, decoration, a palm planted in the couple’s name, a certificate, champagne, canapés and a one-tier cake; Loabin Ekugai adds a 60-minute couples’ massage, breakfast in the villa and a 2-tier cake.
Prices are on request and paid on the island in dollars; bookings are confirmed only on site, 12 hours ahead at the earliest. The site does not say how many guests may attend; couples between 2016 and 2018 describe marrying here.
Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?
The official page publishes no programme for 31 December. It lists the fixed evenings instead: the ROBcarpet gala once a week, tasteJAM street food every 14 days, the Hawaiian LUHANA day every fortnight and the Sundowner nightly with live music or a DJ.
On 7 October 2026 the booking engine accepted no arrivals on 27, 29 or 31 December 2026. A guest back in February 2023 describes 10 days on the island over New Year, without describing the dinner.
Can you play golf?
No: the club plan has no golf course, and the site publishes no golf packages or green fees. The island plays padel instead, on an artificial-turf court, with taster sessions, court time and rackets included.
When is it open, and which are the arrival days?
All year, says the official page. Guests arrive daily, and the main arrival days are Thursday and Sunday, around which the club sets the week’s programme.
The booking engine, read on 7 October 2026, required at least 2 nights for 10 November, accepted no arrivals on 27, 29 or 31 December and offered no Villa Economy on 20 October or 8 December. Agoda, the same day, showed the resort sold out for 10 to 12 November.
How much does a night cost?
On the official booking engine, read on 7 October 2026, for 2 adults on the all-inclusive plan, taxes and fees included, at the non-refundable rate and a 2-night minimum: $502 a night on 20 October 2026, $457 on 10 November, $483 on 8 December and on 22 December, and $575 on 12 January 2027. Each is the cheapest villa left that night, the Villa Economy on 10 November and the Villa Classic Garden View on the others.
Booking.com, read the same day for the same nights, asked $396 a night on 20 October, $411 on 10 November and $435 on 8 December, before its 10% service charge, the 17% GST and the green tax. The site’s flexible rate costs about 15% more and can be cancelled free up to 14 days ahead. On Google Hotels, on 6 October 2026, none of the 117 nights to 31 January 2027 showed a price.
What do the reviews say?
On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 688 ratings, Tripadvisor 4.8/5 from 1,407 with a 2026 Travellers’ Choice award, Booking.com 9.5/10 from 22, with Wi-Fi at 7.5, and Expedia 9.8/10 from 71.
Across the 472 Google reviews with text, 86% of those discussing the villas are positive, and 81% of those discussing breakfast. The waits on the transfer at Malé, up to 5 hours by the club’s estimate, also recur, with diving and excursions, which are charged separately.
What taxes and charges are added?
The official page lists an environment fee of $12 per person per day, paid on the island. The booking engine shows its rates with taxes and fees included; Booking.com puts the 10% service charge and the transfer in its totals and leaves out the 17% GST and the environment fee.
Late check-out costs 50% of the club’s daily rate for the category, and excess luggage about $7 a kilo. Booking.com says the club takes no cash.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Villas are ready from 3 pm and must be left by noon, according to the official page and Expedia. Late check-out is booked at reception, subject to availability. Booking.com instead gives check-in «from 00:00» and «24 hours».
