For couples who want the Maldives simple and all inclusive, Medhufushi starts at $209 for one night taken alone, from May 2027, for 2 adults: the lowest price any seller showed on Google. A reef under the villa suits it less: guests in 2025 and 2026 write that the island has none, and a daily boat takes snorkellers out to nearby reefs.
Co-founder & CEOMarco Di CesareHe spent weeks comparing hotels and kept finding that the detail deciding the trip was missing from the hotel website. 10 years in marketing technology, 2 of them building with AI.About MarcoHow we write the guideLinkedIn
I would ask for a water villa: 60 m², facing sunrise or sunset, with windows that fold back across the whole wall and steps from the private sundeck into the lagoon.
The week to consider
Consider 1 to 7 May 2027: one night taken alone was $209 on Google, every night, read 12 October 2026. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller asked $374 a night; the same nights taken alone, $271.
Transfer, luggage and menus
The transfer from Malé is mandatory: about 35 minutes by seaplane or 2 hours 30 minutes by speedboat; luggage over 20 kg costs $8 per kg for the return trip. Prices on Alfresco’s menu already include 10% service and 17% government tax.
Evenings at Vilu Bar
Vilu Bar, under the thatched roof of the over-water pyramid, has billiards, darts and a library corner, and hosts crab racing and bodu beru, the traditional Maldivian drumming.
What Medhufushi Island Resort is
Medhufushi Island Resort has a 10-hectare island in Meemu Atoll to itself, 130 km south of Malé and a short hop from Muli, the atoll’s capital. It is one of 3 resorts run by AAA Hotels & Resorts, the Maldivian group behind Filitheyo and Hondaafushi: 112 villas of 5 types, 66 on the beach and 46 over the water, built in dark timber with a Maldivian swing seat on the deck.
People come for the island’s character. Sandy paths run under tall trees, the restaurants have sand floors, and at night the pyramid-roofed pavilion over the water serves as bar and stage while blacktip reef sharks come in to feed alongside. In the most recent Google reviews more than half of those who mention the staff speak well of them, many thanking their waiter by name.
It is an island to choose for what it is: a simple resort of timber and sand, where the water villas were being refurbished in the summer of 2025. The beaches carry a lot of seagrass, especially on the jetty side, and a proper reef means a boat. The compulsory transfer is added to the bill: $499 a head by seaplane, or 2 hours 30 by speedboat, a demanding ride when the sea is rough.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 1 December 2021 to 1 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Meemu Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 7 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
Price: for two on the night of 1 May 2027, from $209 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).
What a night costs, season by season
A night taken alone costs from $357 to $537 between 25 December 2026 and 31 March 2027, and from $209 to $413 between 1 May and 7 September 2027. I would look at May to July 2027, when one night taken alone was $209 on each of the 92 nights.

The lowest price any seller showed on Google Hotels for one night searched alone, for 2 adults, read 12 October 2026; no room or meal plan is specified. The calendar stops on 7 September 2027; the nights of 24 and 31 December 2026 are priced far above their neighbours and sit outside the ranges. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed that day asked $374 a night.
Medhufushi, Kandima or Hondaafushi
Choose Medhufushi for a green, quiet island 35 minutes by seaplane, or Kandima for a large, lively island reached by domestic flight and boat, with a house reef 5 minutes away by boat. Hondaafushi, one of the group’s 3 islands, suits a trip to the far north: Haa Dhaalu, 280 km from Malé, a 50-minute domestic flight to Hanimaadhoo and then 10 minutes by speedboat.
The lowest single-night seller price in the week of 16–22 November 2026, for 2 adults, read on Google on 12 October 2026; no room or meal plan is specified.
What to expect
A buffet by the pool, a pavilion over the water for the evenings, a spa on the lagoon and boat trips.
Malaafaiy, beside the pool, serves buffet breakfast from 7.30 to 9.45am, lunch from 12.30 to 2.30pm and dinner from 7.30 to 9.30pm, with chefs at live stations. Alfresco, in the pavilion over the water, has an à la carte menu from $15.44 to $57.92, service and tax included.
Under the same thatched roof over the lagoon, Vilu Bar has billiards, darts and a small library, and at night DJs, karaoke, films and bodu beru drumming. Guests in 2026 describe the blacktip reef sharks that come to feed beside the bar.
4 treatment suites over the water at the island’s southern tip, near the water villas, with a herbal steam bath and a jacuzzi. The March 2026 menu runs from a 30-minute back massage at $57.92 to a 2-hour Ayurvedic ritual at $205.92.
Trips leave by boat: dolphins, whale sharks, snorkelling on the atoll’s reefs, sunset, sunrise and night fishing, and a visit to an inhabited island with its mosque and school. The dive centre teaches in small groups of one instructor to 2 students.
Good to know before you book
The island is covered on foot: several guests, between 2022 and 2026, write that there are no buggies. Source: 500 Google reviews read, 1 December 2021 to 1 October 2026
The reef is a boat ride away: guests in 2025 and 2026 write that the island has no house reef. A daily snorkelling trip takes guests out to nearby reefs, and in the lagoon, under the water villas, rays, small sharks and turtles swim past.
The beaches have a lot of seagrass, on the sand and in the water, and staff rake it up early each morning. On the west side, by the jetty and the seaplanes, the water is shallow; swimmers ask for a villa on the east side, where it is deeper and catches a breeze.
The transfer is compulsory and extra: $499 per adult by seaplane, return, or $220 by speedboat until 30 November 2026 and $250 after. The speedboat takes 2 hours 30, and in a swell several guests call it the hardest part of the journey.
The water villas were being refurbished in the summer of 2025: 3 Google reviews, between April and October of that year, describe work on the roofs and the villas, one of them with noise early in the morning. Between November 2024 and June 2026, 13 Google reviews describe a resort that shows its years: among the things they mention are furniture in the villas marked by use and boards in need of repair on the walkways and around the pool.
Outside all inclusive, extras are charged separately: water at the table is charged on half board, and excursions and the spa are extra. On all inclusive, fresh juices, cocktails off the list and drinks after midnight are still paid for.

Price
Return: seaplane $499 per adult and $331 per child; speedboat $220 and $110 until 30 November 2026, $250 and $115 after; domestic flight $350 and $170 on Booking.com; free under 2
From the official transfer page, the home page and the fact sheet, read on 7 October 2026, and Booking.com and Expedia on 3 October 2026. Expedia lists only 2 speedboats, at 11am and 5pm, and seaplanes from 9am to 3pm; the official site asks for speedboat bookings 96 hours ahead, Booking.com for flight details 7 days ahead.

Medhufushi Island Resort reviews
Platform scores read on 3 and 6 October 2026, and what guests say about the villas, the sea and the service.
On 6 October 2026 Google showed 4/5 from 1,093 ratings, 54% of them 5 stars. The figures by theme come from the 500 most recent reviews with text, from December 2021 to October 2026, in many languages: accounts of stays we have not verified.

Google
Snorkelling by boat
In September 2026 a woman travelling alone on all inclusive found the island has no house reef: a free boat takes guests to a nearby reef every day, and even among the seagrass off the beach there are fish to see, if less colourful. She came by seaplane, and heard that many on the speedboat had been seasick.
In March 2026 a couple who were moved here at the last minute from another of the group’s islands feared murkier water and wilder nature, even in the sea. They spent 4 nights over the water and 3 on the beach, among turtles and sharks, handline fishing and eating their own catch, and left reluctantly.
In December 2025 a guest who knows 4 other Maldives resorts liked the narrow island, with the sea visible on both sides of the central path, and the caring staff. Against it: seagrass turning the water grey, a tired resort, no safe in the room and a buffet that was mostly Indian.
In June 2025 a couple in a water villa snorkelled with turtles, sharks and stingrays straight off their steps. The rooms could do with some care, they write, but the staff and scenery make up for it; the buffet suits those who like Indian food and fresh grilled fish best.
In January 2026 a couple in a water villa had the same waiter throughout, and staff who looked after her gluten intolerance. They paid extra for the dolphin trip and found it worth it; they see the island suiting couples and adults, as there is no playground for children.
In July 2026 a couple who arrived by speedboat after 2 flights describe their beach villa with its open-air bathroom and the sea straight off the deck. Every evening by Vilu Bar guests watch the small sharks feed, and from 9.30pm there is karaoke or a DJ.
Answers to the questions people ask before they go, from sources read between 3 and 7 October 2026.
What kind of resort is Medhufushi Island Resort?
A 4-star resort, as Google Hotels and Tripadvisor rate it (Expedia gives it 4.5), with 112 villas on Medhufushi, a 10-hectare island in Meemu Atoll with nothing else on it. It belongs to AAA Hotels & Resorts, the Maldivian group that also runs Filitheyo and Hondaafushi, and the official site pitches it as affordable, laid-back and rustic, with sand floors in the restaurants.
The site does not give an opening year; an Italian guest in 2025 put the resort at 20 years old. It still calls it one of just 2 resorts in Meemu, where the guide also covers Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa and Madifushi Private Island. The number Google shows, +960 672 0026, is the one AAA’s FAQs give for Hondaafushi: Medhufushi’s is +960 650 0109.
Which villas are there and how big are they?
5 types, on the villas page: 44 beach villas of 65 m², plus 14 of the same size paired by a connecting door; 8 beach suites of 178 m², 2 villas joined by an outdoor sitting area; 44 water villas of 60 m², facing sunrise or sunset, and 2 lagoon suites of 152 m², standing alone in the water.
All have a deck, air conditioning, a minibar and a kettle; the beach villas add a four-poster bed and an open-air rain shower, the water villas windows that fold back across the wall and steps into the lagoon. The home page counts the 14 connecting villas among the 44 beach villas, while the villas page adds them separately to reach 112; the villa pages also list a safe.
Where is it, and is the island quiet?
In Meemu Atoll, 130 km south of Malé on the fact sheet, 35 minutes by seaplane or 2 hours 30 by speedboat. The nearest airport is Muli’s, says the home page, which puts the domestic flight and boat at about an hour; the centre of Muli, the atoll’s capital, is about 4 km away according to Booking.com.
By day it is a quiet island, very green and with few people about, guests say; in the evening the entertainment gathers at Vilu Bar. The seaplanes land on the west side, by the jetty.
How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?
By the resort’s transfer, which is compulsory according to the transfer page. The seaplane, shared with other guests and flying from 6am to 3pm, costs $499 per adult and $331 per child under 12, return; the speedboat costs $220 and $110 until 30 November 2026, then $250 and $115 from 1 December. Children under 2 travel free.
There is also the domestic flight to Muli with a boat, which Booking.com prices at $350 per adult and $170 per child. Sources give the seaplane as 35, 40 or 45 minutes; at the airport, head for AAA’s counter C2. The seaplane allows 20 kg of luggage and 5 kg of hand luggage each, and excess costs $8 a kilo.
Can you drive there or park?
No: Medhufushi is an island without roads, reached only by seaplane, by speedboat or by domestic flight and boat, says the transfer page. The Google Hotels listing includes «Parking» among its amenities, but no official source mentions any parking.
What is the sea like, and how do you get in?
From the beach in front of the villas and from the water villas, by steps from the deck into the lagoon, according to the water villa page. On the east side, the sunrise side, the water is deeper and there is a breeze; on the west side, by the jetty, it is shallow, guests reported in 2025.
Seagrass gathers on the shore and in the water, thicker on the jetty side, many guests wrote in 2025 and 2026; staff clear it early in the morning. A guest in March 2026 warns that currents can be strong, though not dangerous.
Is there a house reef?
No, write several guests in 2025 and 2026, and the official pages describe none. A boat takes guests snorkelling on a nearby reef every day: free for everyone according to 2 guests in 2026, part of all inclusive according to another. In the lagoon, under the water villas, there are rays, small sharks and turtles.
The fact sheet counts more than 30 dive sites in the atoll, and the dive centre runs PADI, SSI, CMAS and IAC courses. Its name is unclear: Tripadvisor gives Werner Lau, a guest in May 2026 EQ Dive. A guest in August 2026 was asked to pay for a life jacket for snorkelling.
What are the pools like?
One outdoor pool beside Malaafaiy, according to the home page, where a floating breakfast can also be ordered; Expedia calls it an infinity pool with lagoon views, and the all-inclusive sheet mentions a pool bar. A guest in 2025 gave its greatest depth as 152 cm. Expedia adds a children’s pool and Booking.com counts 2 pools, neither of which the official site mentions; no official villa page lists a private pool.
Is the pool heated, and when is it open?
The site gives no temperature, no heating and no opening hours. A couple in July 2026 found it in full sun all day; a guest in September 2026 describes free towels and lounger cushions and drinks served by the pool.
Where do you eat, and when?
According to the dining page: Malaafaiy, by the pool, with breakfast from 7.30 to 9.45am, lunch from 12.30 to 2.30pm and dinner from 7.30 to 9.30pm, a buffet with chefs at live stations; Alfresco, à la carte, in the pyramid-roofed pavilion over the water; and Vilu Bar, under the same roof, for cocktails, wine and snacks. The Alfresco menu runs from a Caesar salad at $15.44 to the seafood platter with lobster at $57.92, service and tax included.
There are also dinners on the beach, a champagne breakfast and Drift & Dine, a floating table in the lagoon: $200 per couple for breakfast and $300 for lunch or a sunset dinner, plus 10% service and 17% GST. Guests describe an Indian-leaning buffet, loved by fans of that cooking; anyone who prefers European dishes has the Alfresco’s à la carte menu.
Which meal plans are there, and what does all inclusive cover?
4, on the meal plan sheet: bed and breakfast, half board, full board and all inclusive, all served at the Malaafaiy buffet. Without all inclusive, water in the restaurant is charged, and the room gets 1 litre of water a day.
All inclusive adds drinks by the glass from 10am to midnight at Malaafaiy, Vilu Bar and the pool bar: beer, house wine, spirits and a list of cocktails and mocktails, 2 glasses at a time. It also brings 8 soft drinks a day from the minibar, tea and snacks from 4 to 6pm, a night-fishing trip and an island-hopping trip on stays of 5 nights or more, 20% off à la carte and 10% off the spa. Room water is 1 litre per person a day on one sheet and 2 litres per room on the other.
What is the spa like?
Medhufushi Spa stands over the water at the island’s southern tip, near the water villas, with 4 treatment suites, according to the home page and the fact sheet. The spa page mentions a herbal steam bath and a jacuzzi for guests who arrive 30 minutes early, and a lounge for herbal tea after the treatment; some treatments are given in the open air.
The site gives no floor area, and no official source mentions a sauna, which Google Hotels lists among its amenities. Treatments are for women and men, and for couples.
Is the spa included, is there a fee, and can non-residents use it?
Treatments are paid for, with 10% off on all inclusive. No official page publishes spa access included in the rate, or a day pass for anyone not staying on the island, which has only the resort on it.
What are the spa’s opening hours?
10am to 8pm daily, according to the spa page; the March 2026 spa menu says 9am to 7pm. Booking ahead is wise, though same-day requests are taken. Cancelling with less than 6 hours’ notice costs 50% on the website, with less than 4 hours on the menu, which charges the full price for a no-show.
Which treatments does it offer, and at what prices?
From the March 2026 spa menu, net prices with service and tax included: Balinese massage and aromatherapy at $102.96 for 60 minutes and $140.28 for 90, the Medhufushi Fusion, a blend of 5 techniques, at $140.28 for 90 minutes, the white-sand massage at $127.41 for 60 and hot stones at $148.01 for 90.
A 4-hand massage costs $162.16 for 60 minutes, the Ayurvedic ritual with shirodhara $205.92 for 2 hours, a back massage $57.92 for 30 minutes and facials $96.52 to $102.96; there is a massage for expectant mothers. The spa page, by contrast, says a 10% service charge is added to the price.
Is it good for children?
Children are welcome: according to Booking.com all ages are accepted, those of 12 and over pay as adults, a cot up to 2 is free and an extra bed costs $121 a night, while Expedia gives $40. Beach villas take 2 adults and a child, beach suites 3 adults and 2 children; the water villas are for 2 adults.
The site publishes no kids’ club. The island is covered on foot: several guests, between 2022 and 2026, write that there are no buggies. Google Hotels lists babysitting for a fee. Children pay $331 for the seaplane.
What is there on the island besides the villas?
According to the home page: the buffet and à la carte restaurants, Vilu Bar and the pool bar, the pool, the spa, a gym, the dive centre and the water-sports centre, with jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards and tube rides, a souvenir shop, a library, laundry, billiards, darts, table tennis and a photographer.
In the evening, from 9.30pm according to a couple in July 2026, Vilu Bar has DJs, karaoke, films, Asian dance and bodu beru drumming. Wi-Fi is free, according to Google Hotels and the official offers. Pets are not allowed, say Booking.com and Expedia.
What offers are there?
The offers page, read on 7 October 2026, had 2 running. A stay of 7 nights in a water villa booked direct, valid until 31 October 2026, with wine and fruit on arrival, $25 a head at Alfresco and $35 at the spa, non-refundable; and 3 nights, 2 on the beach and one over the water, for travellers from Asia and the Middle East, with the transfer and Green Tax compulsory.
The honeymoon offer and a 30% discount were still on the page, but their terms ran out on 30 September 2025. AAA’s FAQs say booking on the website gives the same rates and benefits as the portals.
Can you get married at Medhufushi?
The official site mentions weddings and a vow ceremony, but publishes no packages, prices or capacities. A couple married here in September 2026 and spent the honeymoon in a water villa, and a review quoted on the home page tells of a guest asked to officiate another couple’s wedding.
Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?
The official site publishes no New Year’s Eve dinner and no price for one. On Google Hotels, read on 12 October 2026, the night of 31 December cost $1,188 for 2 and 24 December $1,008, against $537 on the 30th: a jump the sources we read do not explain.
The terms of the offers define the festive period as 23 December to 5 January, with supplements for changing dates. One family remembered the 2023 Christmas dinner as special and festive.
Can you play golf?
No: no official page mentions golf. The activities are on the water, from diving and water sports to fishing at sunrise, at sunset, at night and out at sea, dolphins and whale sharks, according to the experiences page and the fact sheet.
When is it open, and when is the best season?
All year, as far as the official pages go, with no closures announced; on Google Hotels every night from October 2026 to January 2027 had a price. The site names no best season: guests in June and September describe short downpours between sunny days, and one in October 2025 a calm enough speedboat ride in poor weather.
How much is a night?
Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night, taxes and fees included: $215 on 7 October 2026, $201 on 9 October, $254 on 23 October, $320 on 10 November, $271 on 11 December, $357 on 10 January 2027 and $631 on 31 January 2027.
All 117 nights read, from 7 October 2026 to 31 January 2027, had a price, from $201 to $1,188; the calendar shows the lowest price and names neither the villa nor the meal plan. The holidays cost far more: $1,053 on Christmas Eve and $1,188 on 31 December, against $490 on the 30th. The transfer is extra.
What do the reviews say?
On 6 October 2026 Google showed 4/5 from 1,093 ratings and Trip.com 4.2/5 from 41; on 3 October Tripadvisor gave 4.3/5 from 1,948, with a 2026 Travellers’ Choice award, Booking.com 8.4/10 from 60, with staff at 9.3, value for money at 7.7 and Wi-Fi at 7.5, and Expedia 8.6/10 from 216.
In the 500 most recent Google reviews with text, from December 2021 to October 2026, 60% of those who mention the location are happy with it, as are more than half of those who mention the staff. Praise goes to the green, quiet island, the lagoon with its small sharks and rays, the waiter assigned for the whole stay and the all-inclusive plan. Seagrass on the beaches, a reef reached by boat, the resort’s age and an Indian-leaning buffet come up too; guests mention extras outside the all-inclusive and the separately charged transfer.
Which taxes and charges are added?
Google Hotels’ figures for the Maldives include taxes and fees. The resort’s own price lists differ: the Alfresco menu and the spa menu are net, with the 10% service charge and 17% GST included, while Drift & Dine is charged plus service and GST. On 7 October 2026, on Google Hotels, Priceline asked $310 for a semi-detached beach villa and Booking.com $319 for a beach villa.
The transfer and the Green Tax are extra; the 3-night package calls the tax compulsory, but no page we read gives the amount. So are excursions, diving, the spa, drinks outside all inclusive and room service. On the island you can pay by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or in cash.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to Google Hotels, Booking.com and Expedia; on arrival you show ID and the card used to book. The transfer is planned around the international flight, and in 2025 some guests had to leave the island at 6am for an evening flight.
