NAKAI Alimathà Resort, 96 beach bungalows and 34 over the water on an island in Vaavu Atoll, 1 hour 30 minutes by speedboat or 25 minutes by seaplane from Malé
Alimathà suits Italian-speaking families and couples who want the Maldives all-inclusive, with entertainment, a beach right round the island and Vaavu’s dive channels 5 minutes away by boat. Anyone after silence, or without Italian, will be happier elsewhere.

Alimathà is an island in Vaavu Atoll with nothing on it but the resort: from the air it is shaped like a heart, says the official site, and a guest in 2024 put it at about 300 metres a side. It belongs to the NAKAI group, which has worked in the Maldives for more than 20 years and also runs Dhiggiri and Maayafushi, and in Italy Alpitour sells it as Bravo Premium Alimathà, with Bravo’s entertainers and Italian-speaking reps.
People come for the sea and for the formula. The beach runs round the whole island, the 550 m² infinity pool looks out over the ocean, the main restaurant cooks Italian with 3 grills and live cooking, and the dive centre is minutes from Miyaru Kandu, where sharks patrol beneath the overhang. Of the Google reviewers who mention the location, 89% are positive.
The extras are the thing to budget for. Espresso, fresh juices and bottled drinks sit outside the all-inclusive plan, extras carry a 10% service charge plus GST, and Wi-Fi was free only in the water bungalows until 2025, by guests’ accounts, with Alpitour listing it in every room from 19 December 2026. The rooms are simple, shower only, and island life runs in Italian, from the entertainment to the excursions.

The scores come from 171 Google reviews with text, left from 13 February 2021 to 14 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Vaavu Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 7 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The main restaurant, recently refurbished, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet with 3 grill stations and live cooking; water, white wine, draught beer and soft drinks by the glass come with meals, says Alpitour. Barabaru, on the beach, offers tasting menus of Maldivian fish cooked the Italian way, by reservation and outside the plan.
The infinity pool covers 550 m², according to the official site, on the side of the island facing the water bungalows, beside a large whirlpool built out over the sea. Alpitour adds that both are filled with ocean water, constantly renewed.
Miyaru Kandu, 5 minutes away by boat (25, according to a blog post of 2019), is known for an overhang where sharks gather; at Fotteyo Kandu hammerheads are possible. Boats leave every morning and afternoon, and the site rates its night dives among the best in the Maldives.
Couples’ massage, Thai shiatsu, Balinese, hot stones or the rice bundles of Ayurvedic kizhi, with natural frangipani, jasmine and lemongrass oils. Treatments are charged, and the site publishes neither a price list nor opening hours.
The NAKAI group keeps an astronomer on its staff and is building a photographic archive of the Maldivian sky. On some evenings, Alpitour says, guests go out by dhoni just beyond the island to pick out the constellations and watch the bioluminescence.

Residents of Italy and Switzerland cannot book on the official site, which bars them under a commercial exclusivity and may ask for proof of residence: from Italy, Alimathà is bought as an Alpitour package with flights.
Espresso, cappuccino, fresh juices, bottled drinks and anything ordered after midnight are not in the all-inclusive plan. Every extra, excursions included, adds a 10% service charge and GST, 17% since 1 July 2025 (MIRA, read on 15 October 2026).
From 2021 to 2025 guests describe Wi-Fi as free only in the water bungalows, charged elsewhere and often slow; Alpitour’s listing gives it in every room from 19 December 2026.
Nearly every guest is Italian, and entertainment, excursions and briefings are in Italian; couples are often seated at a shared table.
By speedboat or seaplane from Malé airport, about 65 km to the north
Speedboat
About 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the sea; not with flights leaving Malé before 9:00 or landing after 16:00
Seaplane
About 25 minutes, at a supplement of €245 an adult at 4Viaggi; not with flights leaving before 9:15 or landing after 15:30
In the packages
The shared transfer is included in the Alpitour weeks read on 7 October 2026; the seaplane costs extra
On the island
The Green Tax, $12 a person a night from age 2, is paid at the resort

Alimathà reviews
The platforms’ scores, read on 3 and 6 October 2026, and what guests say about the sea, the food and the entertainment.
On 6 October 2026 Google Hotels showed 4.6/5 from 271 ratings, 82% of them 5 stars. The figures by theme come from the 171 Google reviews with text, written between February 2021 and September 2026 and nearly all in Italian: accounts of stays we have not verified.
6 stays described on Google between December 2025 and September 2026.

The reef within swimming distance
In December 2025 a guest travelling with an 8-month-old snorkelled alone over the reef you can swim to, and saw more sharks, turtles, eagle rays and stingrays there than on the paid trips. Take the seaplane, he says: coming back by boat in any swell is miserable.
A family with children of 18 months and nearly 4 dreaded the journey of more than 23 hours, which went well. They praise the entertainers and the babysitter, the waiter who looked after them from the first day, and the dive centre, where they dived with tanks.
On honeymoon in late May 2026, in the calm of the low season, a bride with coeliac disease found a cook who told her at every meal what she could eat and made her gluten-free dishes.
A non-Italian couple stayed in a newly furnished garden room with a big bathroom, cleaned twice a day. The food was tasty but heavy on pasta for the Italian guests; they missed Maldivian dishes and fresh juices at breakfast, and skipped the Italian entertainment.
5 stars for the beach, the cleaning, the kitchen and the staff, one for the extras: espresso at €4 plus tax, the shop’s prices, the shared table given to couples. So this guest, writing in September 2026, would not recommend Alimathà to couples, while saying it was worth it.
In January 2026 a guest found the island tidy, the rooms basic but comfortable and the infinity pool over the ocean spectacular, with the best entertainment of any Bravo village. Against it: a reef poorer than other atolls, the wait for the seaplane at Malé and too many children on the beach.
What people ask before booking Alimathà, answered from sources read between 3 and 7 October 2026.
What kind of resort is NAKAI Alimathà?
A 4-star resort, as Google Hotels and Tripadvisor rate it, that has the island of Alimathà in Vaavu Atoll to itself. It is run by the NAKAI group, in the Maldives for more than 20 years according to the official site, and in Italy Alpitour sells it as Bravo Premium Alimathà, with Bravo’s entertainers, kids’ club and Italian-speaking reps.
The room count depends on the source: 173 in Alpitour’s listing, 156 on Tripadvisor; the official site counts 96 beach bungalows, 34 water bungalows and 29 garden villas, but not the garden rooms. Tripadvisor also lists it as «alimatha aquatic hotel», and many Italians still search for it as Alimatha Aquatic Resort.
What rooms are there, and how big are they?
4 types, according to the rooms page and each room’s own page, read on 15 October 2026: beach bungalows of about 35 m² for 2 and 45 for 3 or 4; water bungalows of about 40 m² with a deck, for up to 3; garden villas of about 40 m² for 2 and 44 for 3; and the newest garden rooms, in a 2-storey block, of 40 or 44 m².
All have air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a safe, a minibar charged by consumption and a shower; a guest in 2025 notes there is no bathtub. The beach bungalow’s page gives about 35 m² for 2 guests and the garden villa’s page about 40 m² for 2 and 44 for 3, according to the official site, read on 15 October 2026.
Where is it, and is the island quiet?
In Vaavu Atoll, also called Felidhoo, about 65 km south of Malé airport by Alpitour’s reckoning. The island has only the resort, with a white beach all round, says the official site; the nearest resort, Cinnamon Velifushi, is about 11 km away.
Quiet only in part: this is a holiday village with entertainment, after-dinner shows and plenty of families. The water bungalows are in the quietest corner, the site says.
How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?
By speedboat, in about 1 hour 30 minutes according to Alpitour’s listing, or by seaplane in about 25 minutes, at a supplement. In the packages read on 7 October 2026 the shared transfer is included; the official site publishes no fare for either, while 4Viaggi charges €245 more an adult and €130 a child for the seaplane on its 12 December group departure.
The boat does not run with flights leaving Malé before 9:00 or landing after 16:00, nor the seaplane with flights before 9:15 or after 15:30. The seaplane saves more than an hour on the boat.
Can you arrive by car or park?
No: Alimathà is an island with no roads, reached only by boat or seaplane. The Google Hotels card lists free parking, but no official source describes any, and on the island everyone goes on foot, barefoot on the sand.
How do you get into the sea?
Straight from the beach, which the official site describes as fine white sand all round the island: the beach bungalows are a few steps from the water, and the water bungalows have a ladder down into the lagoon, a guest wrote in January 2025.
The seabed varies around the island: in front of the bungalows near the restaurant the coral comes almost to the shore and reef shoes help, while by the jetty and on the small beach beside the water bungalows it is easy on bare feet, guests wrote in 2024 and 2025.
Is there a house reef you can swim to?
Yes: according to Alpitour’s listing you can swim out to the reef from the beach, and a guest in December 2025 saw sharks, turtles, eagle rays and stingrays there, swimming alone. The dive centre runs snorkelling and diving trips every day, morning and afternoon.
Snorkelling gear is hired at a charge, says Alpitour, and the centre is a PADI 5-star school.
What are the pools like?
A 550 m² infinity pool looking out to the ocean, with a large whirlpool, according to the official site. Alpitour calls it the Alimathà Sunset Pool, places it on the side of the water bungalows and adds that the whirlpool is built entirely over the sea.
It is fairly new: in April 2022 a guest wrote that there was no pool, and one in March 2023 already describes it. No source read mentions private pools or a children’s pool.
Is the pool heated, and when is it open?
The pool and the whirlpool hold seawater drawn from the ocean and constantly renewed, according to Alpitour’s listing, which gives no heating, temperature or opening hours. Nor does the official site.
Where do you eat, and until when?
2 restaurants and 3 bars, according to the restaurants page: the main restaurant, with Italian and Maldivian cooking, and Barabaru on the beach, with fish tasting menus indoors or under the stars. The bars are the main bar, open on every side and with a piano bar, the west-facing Beach Bar, and the Sunset Bar beside the water bungalows.
Alpitour gives no mealtimes; the open bar runs from 10:00 to midnight. Guests praise the Italian cooking and the care for coeliacs and food intolerances; Maldivian dishes have their own evening, the Maldivian dinner included in the plan, and one guest in February 2026 recommends the lobster night.
Which meal plans are there, and what does the all-inclusive cover?
Just one, all-inclusive, which the official site pairs with à la carte. Alpitour’s listing covers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant with water, white wine, draught beer and soft drinks by the glass; snacks at the Sunset Pool Bar and the Beach Bar; the open bar from 10:00 to midnight, with wine, beer and local spirits from noon; a Maldivian dinner, a farewell dinner and water in the room.
Extra: canned and bottled drinks, international spirits, fresh juices, smoothies, espresso, cappuccino, ice cream, anything ordered after midnight and Barabaru’s menu. An espresso costs €4 to €4.50, guests wrote between 2024 and 2026, and like every extra it carries the service charge and GST.
What is the spa like?
Maadhiga Spa, spelt Maadigha on its own page, offers oriental massage techniques with Frella’s natural citrus, frangipani, jasmine and lemongrass oils and cold-pressed coconut oil, according to the official site; the couples’ massage ends with a juice and a soak in the tub.
The site gives no floor area, and no source read mentions a sauna, a steam room or a spa pool. The island does have a gym, says the sports page.
Is the spa included, is there a fee, and can outside guests use it?
Massages are charged: Alpitour lists Maadhiga Spa among the paid services, and the Early Bird 30 offer on the official booking engine gives 10% off treatments. No source publishes a day pass for anyone not staying, on an island that holds only the resort and is reached by boat.
What are the spa’s opening hours?
Neither the official site nor Alpitour publishes the spa’s or the pool’s hours, and no source read explains how to book a treatment. The Romantic Escape offer on the official engine includes a 60-minute couples’ massage.
Which treatments does it offer, and at what prices?
The spa page lists a couples’ massage, Thai shiatsu, which blends Thai and Japanese techniques, Balinese massage, a hot-stone massage with 14 stones and kizhi, an Ayurvedic treatment with rice bundles soaked in warm oil. Neither the site nor Alpitour publishes prices.
Is it good for children?
Yes, the village is built for families too: according to Alpitour’s listing, Bravo Bimbo takes children from 4 to 11 with games, classes and a mini disco, and B.Free those over 12. There are reductions for the first and second child aged 2 to 12 and an offer for teenagers aged 12 to 16.
The family beach bungalows, with a mezzanine, sleep up to 6 adults, while the water bungalows take no children under 12. Families in 2025 praise the kids’ club, the babysitter and the cooks who make baby food, and there is a doctor on the island; anyone travelling without children will find a family island, with children on the beach.
What is on the island besides the rooms?
According to the official site and Alpitour: a gym, a tennis court, a five-a-side pitch and 3 padel courts, beach volleyball, beach tennis, bowls, table tennis, table football, windsurfing, canoes and SUP, a boutique and a bazaar, and a first-aid post with a doctor. The catamaran, jet skis, fishing and dhoni hire are charged.
The excursions go to a fishing village, an uninhabited island, Maldivian-style fishing and dinner under the stars; in 2020 the resort’s blog also described dolphin trips and speedboat outings with whale sharks. Guests write well of them, the boat trips and the snorkelling above all; the listed price is before the 10% service charge and GST.
What offers are there?
On 7 October 2026 the official booking engine showed Early Bird 30, for 5 nights or more booked at least 30 days ahead, with all-inclusive, fast Wi-Fi, 10% off the spa and the à la carte restaurant and airport assistance, and Romantic Escape, with a couples’ massage, a lobster dinner and a dolphin cruise. Neither shows a price.
For residents of Italy the offers that count are Alpitour’s: the honeymoon offer, with a renewal of vows on the beach for stays of at least 7 nights, and the reductions for children and teenagers.
Can you get married at Alimathà?
The official site says nothing about weddings. Alpitour’s listing names a beach wedding ceremony among the village’s best-loved services, with no prices or capacity, and its honeymoon offer includes a renewal of vows at sunset, «barefoot in paradise», for stays of at least 7 nights.
In 2025 a family marked the parents’ 30th wedding anniversary on the island with a ceremony, all in Italian, one of the children wrote on Google.
Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?
Yes, and it is included: Alpitour’s listing says the all-inclusive plan covers the Christmas, New Year’s Eve and mid-August dinners, served as a buffet in the main restaurant. No source publishes the menu or the evening’s programme, and on Riu Vacanze’s calendar, read on 7 October 2026, the 25 December departure was the season’s dearest.
Can you play golf?
No: on an island about 300 metres across there is no golf course, and no source mentions one. Tennis and padel are played instead, with racket hire included, says Alpitour.
When is it open, and when is the best season?
All year, as far as the sources go: the official site announces no closure, Riu Vacanze’s calendar of 7 October 2026 has weekly departures from October to January, and Google carries reviews written in every month of the year. On Google Hotels, on 6 October, none of the 117 nights to 31 January 2027 had a price: the resort sells almost entirely through packages.
The site names no best season. Guests describe short showers even in December, «on paper the best time», a July at 31 degrees and the calm of late May in the low season.
How much does a night cost?
Alimathà is sold as a package, so a night’s price comes from the week: for 2 adults with flights from Milan or Rome and all-inclusive, the packages read on 7 October 2026 at Riu Vacanze and 4Viaggi, 2 agencies selling Alpitour’s Bravo, average €596 a night from 24 October 2026, €765 from 28 November, €849 from 13 December and €925 from 9 January 2027.
Each figure is the cheapest room offered that week, a garden or beach bungalow, divided by the 7 nights on the island, and covers economy flights, the shared transfer, the all-inclusive plan, airport taxes and basic insurance. Not included: the Green Tax of $12 a person a night, paid on the island, the ETS charge, the seaplane and extras.
We found no room-only price: the official engine had nothing free in any week from October to April, Agoda showed it sold out, Booking.com has no listing for the resort, Trip.com asks you to sign in and Google Hotels showed no prices.
Can you book direct, and what does a week cost?
On the official booking engine, yes, unless you live in Italy or Switzerland, which the site excludes under a commercial exclusivity. On 7 October 2026 the engine had nothing free in any of the 6 weeks read, from 20 October 2026 to 10 April 2027.
From Italy the week is bought from Alpitour and its agents. At Riu Vacanze, for 2 adults flying from Milan Malpensa: €4,171 in a garden bungalow leaving on 23 October, €5,356 on the beach from 27 November 2026, €6,473 in the garden from 8 January 2027. At 4Viaggi the escorted group departure from Rome on 12 December cost €2,970 a person; the other weeks tried had no online offer.
What do the reviews say?
On 6 October 2026 Google showed 4.6/5 from 271 ratings, 82% of them 5 stars; on 3 October Tripadvisor showed 4.5/5 from 2,732, with a Travellers’ Choice 2026 award, 4.7 for location and 4.1 for value.
Among the 171 Google reviews with text written since 2021, nearly nine in ten guests who mention the location are positive, and 78% of those who mention staff and services: the beach, the reef within swimming distance, the waiters who look after the same family all week and the kitchen’s care for coeliacs recur. Espresso and bottled drinks are excluded from the all-inclusive, and a service charge and GST are added to every extra. The village runs in Italian, from the entertainment to the excursions.
Which taxes and charges are added?
The Green Tax, $12 a person a night from age 2, is paid on the island, according to Alpitour’s listing. Extras, from the bar to excursions, carry a 10% service charge plus GST: guests put the total at 26%.
The agencies’ packages also leave out the ETS charge on flight emissions, tips and the seaplane supplement; 4Viaggi adds a tax of $8 a night for infants up to age 2, paid on the island.
