For families and couples after an all-inclusive island in the far south of the Maldives, Pullman Maamutaa starts at $954 a night between 16 April and 7 September 2027 for 2 adults, the lowest seller’s single-night price on Google. The flight to Kooddoo is $700 per adult, return; those after an adults-only island will be happier elsewhere.

Like a regular

A couple in the hammock slung over the lagoon beside a water villa’s deck.
  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for the Ocean Pool Villa: 165 m² above the lagoon, with a private pool, tempered glass flooring and direct access to the lagoon, as the resort’s own villa page lists.

  2. The weeks that cost less

    Single nights for 2 adults read $954 from 16 April to 7 September 2027, against $2,759 to $4,889 from 27 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, on Google, read 12 October 2026.

  3. The flight on top

Add the flight from Malé to Kooddoo: $700 per adult from age 12 and $500 per child from 2 to 11, return, on the resort’s location page. A private seaplane is $19,000 each way.

  4. Book spa and excursions

The all-inclusive page requires advance reservations on arrival for spa treatments, activities and excursions, so I would book them on the first day. The Pullman Spa opens daily from 8am to 8pm.

What Pullman Maldives Maamutaa is

Pullman Maldives Maamutaa has an 18-hectare island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll to itself, grown around a natural lake, and its website calls it the first all-inclusive Pullman in the world. Its 122 villas stand on the beach, over the water and, in the 2 Aqua Villas, with a bedroom below the surface: 12 types from 160 to 1,474 m², 9 of them with a private pool.

You choose it for the sea and for the plan. The Suvadiva dive centre is PADI 5 Star and an Eco Center, with 26 dive sites in the atoll, and guests in 2026 describe reef sharks, turtles and rays under the jetties. The all-inclusive covers breakfast, lunch and dinner in 3 restaurants, drinks in 3 bars with more than 130 alcoholic labels, the minibar, the kids’ club for ages 4 to 11, the Skillz teen area, tennis and 1 hour a day of non-motorised water sport.

The bill, though, goes beyond the night. The flight from Malé to Kooddoo is $700 return from age 12 and $500 for children; on Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 ran from $954 between 16 April and 7 September 2027 to $5,077 on 31 December 2026, the evening of a compulsory gala dinner. Outside the plan sit the extras, from lobster to in-villa dining and rentals; Souq Oven and Phat Chameleon are best booked on arrival, and for a buggy, guests in 2025 and 2026 say, the wait can be 15 to 30 minutes.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Pullman Maamutaa’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe a green island of shaded, palm-lined paths and beaches, with turtles, reef sharks and rays passing under the water villas.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write of the villas’ space, the private pool, the outdoor shower and the ladder that drops into the lagoon.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests thank by name the bar and restaurant staff, the spa therapists, the guides at the Suvadiva dive centre and the team who meet them at Malé airport.

  4. Breakfast

6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is the Mélange buffet, with eggs cooked to order, dosas and Indian and Asian dishes; the alternative is à la carte at Sol Rising, from 7am to 9.30am.

  5. Price

The all-inclusive covers meals in 3 restaurants, drinks in 3 bars and the minibar, and that is what guests write about; lobster, in-villa dining and rentals are charged separately.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 1 December 2023 to 3 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Gaafu Alifu Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in Gaafu Alifu Atoll:

Price: for two on the night of 16 April 2027, from $954 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

Single nights for 2 adults cost $954 from 16 April to 7 September 2027 and $1,337 to $1,351 from 1 March to 15 April, against $2,759 to $4,889 from 24 December to 1 January. I would start with dates from 16 April 2027 and watch the calendar: it rose by more than 5% on 87 of the 265 nights compared between 4 and 12 October 2026, and fell on none.

What to expect

The reef, the kids’ club, the overwater spa and a dinner among the plants.

Suvadiva and the atoll’s reefs

The dive centre is PADI 5 Star and an Eco Center, one of 4 in the Maldives by its own account, and runs to 26 dive sites: the atoll, the resort says, is the only place where divers can see up to 13 species of shark. Snorkelling gear is included; diving needs a licence and insurance, which the centre sells for short stays.

The Kids Playground and Skillz

The club takes children from 4 to 11, with indoor games, an outdoor pool with slides and a nanny on request. Teenagers have Skillz, with snooker, table tennis, karaoke and a golf simulator, and from 10 children can dive with their parents.

Phat Chameleon and Maldivian cooking

The à la carte restaurant among the plants cooks the Maldivian tradition with many vegetarian and vegan dishes, responsibly caught fish, coconut, curry leaf and breadfruit. It opens for dinner from 7pm to 10pm, closes on Fridays and is part of the plan.

Good to know before you book

  • You get around the island on foot, by bicycle or by buggy, which you call for: in reviews from 2025 and 2026 the wait runs from a few minutes to half an hour. Source: 500 Google reviews read, 1 December 2023 to 3 October 2026

  • The domestic flight is extra. Malé to Kooddoo takes 55 minutes and the website asks $700 return from age 12 and $500 from 2 to 11; a private seaplane is $19,000 each way. Guests in November and December 2025 waited up to 4 hours in Malé for their flight.

  • The all-inclusive has its rules. You eat in one restaurant per meal, at The Hub you pick 3 dishes between 11am and 2pm, and the rest is charged; in 2025 and 2026 guests found lobster and king crab, in-villa dining and rentals on the bill, and Souq Oven and Phat Chameleon full for days.

  • The reef is far from the beach. From the sunset beach it takes 15 to 20 minutes, guests in 2025 and 2026 say; on the sunrise side the lagoon is shallow, with dead coral and seagrass. From the water villas, by contrast, guests watch sharks and rays from the ladder.

  • Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve carry a compulsory gala dinner, according to Booking.com: from $320 a head from age 12 on 24 December and $600 on the 31st, with children from 6 to 11 at $180 and $400. Under-sixes are free.

  • Flight times and island times do not line up: check-in is at 2pm and villas are vacated at noon. Between January 2025 and July 2026, 5 Google reviews say that after check-out you pay: meals and drinks drop out of the plan and, in July 2026, $100 to $130 an hour was asked to keep the villa until the afternoon flight. The Romantic Escapes offer, with at least 4 nights, moves check-out to 2pm.

  • Between February 2025 and August 2026, 5 Google reviews mention mosquitoes around the villas, the beach villas above all; one, in November 2025, says the resort treats the grounds and advises bringing repellent.

  • Between June 2025 and May 2026, 4 Google reviews describe a villa that had not been cleaned thoroughly: drawers, sofas and towels, floors and the shower.

Questions before you go

What people ask before booking Pullman Maldives Maamutaa, with sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Pullman Maldives Maamutaa?

An all-inclusive resort of Accor’s Pullman brand, on its own 18-hectare island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll; the offer page calls it the first all-inclusive Pullman in the world. The villa pages count 122 villas in 12 types, Google Hotels lists it as 5-star, and the sustainability page publishes its Green Globe certificate for 2025–2026.

The website does not say which year it opened. The home page sells it as an island for both work and play, and guests describe it above all for families, honeymoons and diving.

Which villas can you choose, and how big are they?

12 types, on the villa pages. On the beach: Beach Villa, 200 m²; Beach Pool Villa, 240 m²; Family Beach Villa, 270 m²; Family Beach Pool Villa, 300 m²; Two Bedroom Beach Pool Villa, 580 m². Over the water: Ocean Villa, 160 m²; Ocean Pool Villa and Sunset Ocean Pool Villa, 165 m²; Ocean Pool Suite, 184 m²; Two Bedroom Ocean Pool Villa, 270 m²; Four Bedroom Ocean Pool Retreat, 1,474 m²; and the 2 Aqua Villas with an underwater bedroom.

9 types have a private pool; the Ocean Villas, Beach Villas and Family Beach Villas do not. The website does not say how many villas there are of each type. The minibar is restocked once a day, according to the villa pages, read on 15 October 2026; the resort does not publish a reliable floor area for the Aqua Villa.

Where is it, and is the island quiet?

On Maamutaa island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, in the far south of the Maldives: the website gives «Maamutaa Island, 20219 Gaafu Alifu Atoll», the Google listing «Maamutaa, Island 20219». Kooddoo airport is 8.3 miles away by Tripadvisor, about 13 km, and the airport island also holds Mercure Maldives Kooddoo, Accor’s other resort in the atoll.

The island is large, thick with palms and crossed by paths, and guests find it quiet even when full. It is a resort that welcomes families, with a kids’ club for ages 4 to 11: anyone after an adults-only island will be happier elsewhere.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?

By a 55-minute domestic flight from Malé to Kooddoo and a 15-minute speedboat, according to the location page. The flight is $700 return from age 12, $500 from 2 to 11 and free under 2 on a parent’s lap; the speedboat is included, says the website’s FAQ. A private seaplane costs $19,000 each way.

Booking.com gives a 50-minute flight, and Expedia asks guests to arrange the transfer with the resort 72 hours ahead. The website publishes no timetable: in November and December 2025 some guests waited up to 4 hours in Malé, in the resort’s lounge with food and drinks, and reached the island after 6pm.

Can you arrive by car or park?

No: Maamutaa is an island reached by speedboat from Kooddoo, with no roads and no parking. The Google Hotels card lists free parking and car hire, which is wrong for an island reached only by sea. You get around on foot, by bicycle, at $10 a day per person according to a guest in January 2026, or by buggy, which many guests in 2025 and 2026 waited 15 to 30 minutes for.

How do you get into the sea?

From the water villas by steps off the deck, from the beach villas by a path down to the lagoon, as the villa pages describe; every villa has life vests. The lagoon around the island is wide and shallow.

On the sunrise side the water is shallow, with dead coral and seagrass, and shallower still at low tide; on the sunset side, a guest wrote in March 2026, the shore is silky smooth.

Is there a reef you can swim to?

Yes, but it lies well out from the shore. Guests in 2025 and 2026 reach it from the sunset beach in 15 to 20 minutes, or from Panorama Beach, and describe it as full of turtles, sharks and rays. The Suvadiva dive centre runs to 26 dive sites and leads guided snorkelling.

Under the water villas, meanwhile, guests watch baby reef sharks, rays and fish swim past the ladder, as many of the 2026 reviews describe.

What pools are there?

The main twin pool at The Hub, between the palms and the beach; Sol Rising’s infinity pool over the water; and the kids’ club pool with slides, according to the family page. 9 of the 12 villa types have a private pool, with a jacuzzi in the Ocean Pool Suites and the 2- and 4-bedroom villas.

Google Hotels also lists an adults-only pool, which the website does not mention.

Are the pools heated, and when are they open?

The website does not say whether they are heated or at what temperature, and publishes no pool hours; the bars beside them, The Hub and Sol Rising, are open from 10am to 11pm. The villa pools are private and always available: in March 2026 a guest found theirs warm and pleasant, and in December 2025 another found the water over the reef as warm as a bath.

Where do you eat, and until when?

3 restaurants and 3 bars, according to the dining page. Mélange, the main restaurant, is a buffet with 6 live stations: breakfast from 7am to 10am, lunch from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, dinner from 7pm to 10pm. Souq Oven, Mediterranean over the water, serves lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 7pm to 10pm. Phat Chameleon, Maldivian cooking with many vegetarian and vegan dishes, is open for dinner only, from 7pm to 10pm, and closed on Fridays.

The bars are Sol Rising, with à la carte breakfast from 7am to 9.30am and the bar from 10am to 11pm, The Hub, from 10am to 11pm, and Saffron Affair, from 4pm to 1am. Guests advise booking Souq Oven and Phat Chameleon on arrival.

What meal plans are there, and what do they include?

The resort sells all-inclusive, which the website’s offer sets out as breakfast at Mélange and Sol Rising, lunch at Mélange and Souq Oven, dinner at Mélange, Souq Oven and Phat Chameleon, and drinks at The Hub, Saffron Affair and Sol Rising from more than 130 alcoholic labels, plus the minibar restocked daily, the kids’ club, Skillz, tennis, beach volleyball, snorkelling gear and 1 hour a day of paddleboard, windsurf or kayak. The all-inclusive page says more than 80 labels.

The rules are tight: one restaurant per meal, 3 dishes of your choice at The Hub between 11am and 2pm, everything else charged. From 7 nights, for arrivals from 15 April 2026, each guest gets a sunset cruise or sunset fishing trip, a 30-minute spa add-on and $20 of laundry; from 10 nights, also $50 of excursions per person and $200 of spa per villa. Guests in 2025 and 2026 paid extra for lobster, king crab, in-villa dining and late check-out.

What is the spa like?

The Pullman Spa stands over the lagoon and works with Phytomer products: massages of 60 or 90 minutes, also for couples, facials such as the Pioneer, algae and sea-salt body treatments, and a beauty salon for hair, waxing and manicures. The Spa Journey programme spreads 5 treatments over several days.

Expedia lists a sauna and a steam room; Google Hotels lists the sauna but marks the spa as absent, an error on the card. The website gives neither the spa’s size nor its number of treatment rooms. The Pullman Fit gym is open 24 hours, and the Four Bedroom Ocean Pool Retreat has its own treatment room and steam room.

Is the spa included, is it extra, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are extra. The all-inclusive adds only, for arrivals from 15 April 2026, a 30-minute add-on to a booked massage from 7 nights and a $200 credit per villa from 10 nights, both between 9am and 12.30pm and for massages only.

No page publishes a day pass for anyone not staying on the island, which is reached by the domestic flight and the resort’s speedboat; the spa serves resident guests, who book on arrival.

What are the spa’s opening hours?

From 8am to 8pm every day, according to the spa page, read on 6 October 2026. The all-inclusive page asks guests to book spa, activities and excursions on arrival, and the long-stay credits apply only from 9am to 12.30pm. In June 2026 a guest warned that the spa and excursions fill up straight after the restaurants.

Which treatments are offered, and what do they cost?

The website prints no prices. Guests quote 2: in May 2026 a 60-minute couples’ massage cost $320, and in February 2026 the cheapest massage was $260.

Is it good for children?

Children can dive with their parents from 10; dry excursions start at 3 and snorkelling at 5, according to the all-inclusive page.

2 villa types are built for families, with a children’s room and bunk beds. On Booking.com an extra bed costs $375 a night up to age 11 and $500 from 12, and a cot is free; Expedia says neither cots nor extra beds are available. Booking.com says children of every age are welcome.

What is there on the island apart from the villas?

The overwater spa, the 24-hour gym, the Fit Trail, one court for tennis, padel, pickleball and badminton, beach volleyball, Skillz with karaoke and a golf simulator, the Kids Playground, the dive and water-sports centre, and the natural lake, where the resort’s naturalist takes families walking. Wi-Fi is free throughout.

The resort makes the whole island’s water from the sea, captures rainwater and recycles with Parley for Oceans, says the sustainability page. Drones may fly only over Panorama Beach, with the front office’s approval.

What offers are there?

Read on 6 October 2026: the All-Inclusive Offer takes 10–25% off when you book 7 days ahead and 15–30% when you book 21 days ahead, rising with the nights, from 10% under 5 nights to 30% from 10. Romantic Escapes adds a bottle of champagne, a fruit basket and a 2pm check-out to the all-inclusive, for at least 4 nights.

Longer stays get the all-inclusive’s 7- and 10-night benefits. Guests in 2026 who booked through agencies report lower prices than the website’s: in March 2026 an Accor member found the same stay at $23,119 with transfers, less than the resort had quoted.

Can you get married at Pullman Maldives Maamutaa?

The ceremonies page offers 3 packages for a wedding or a renewal of vows. Romeo & Juliet on Panorama Beach, at the tip of the island, with bodu beru drums, a one-tier cake, champagne, a bouquet, a decorated buggy and a certificate; Paradise Romance adds a 4-course dinner in a private spot; L’Amour a 2-tier cake, a 90-minute couples’ spa treatment and a floating breakfast.

Can you play golf?

It is open all year: on Google Hotels, read on 12 October 2026, all 117 nights from 7 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 were priced, and the website lists no closures. Prices rise from 1 November and stay at $2,759 or more from 24 December to 5 January.

The website does not describe the seasons. A couple in June 2026 had good weather for more than half their low-season stay, and a guest who came in September 2025 found fine weather and low-season prices.

How much does a night cost?

On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 adults cost $1,169 on 7 October 2026, $806 on 19 October, a date less than 21 days after the reading, $1,774 on 1 November, $1,776 on 12 December, $5,077 on 31 December and $2,441 on 7 January 2027, taxes and fees included.

Guests pleased with the price mention the all-inclusive and drinks; others discuss extras, from lobster to late check-out.

The big villas, the marine life under the jetties, Souq Oven and the bar staff recur. The journey is long, the all-inclusive has its rules, the à la carte restaurants are best reserved on arrival and there is a wait for the buggies.

What taxes and charges are added?

Google Hotels prices for the Maldives include taxes and fees: for 7 October 2026 the Booking.com link showed $1,169.38, of which $279.38 was tax. On Tripadvisor partners started at $620 for 11 October, «Taxes not included», where Google Hotels showed $869 with tax.

The domestic flight, the spa, diving, excursions, motorised sport and anything outside the plan are charged separately. A guest in November 2025 found a government tax added at check-in; the website lists no taxes.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to the all-inclusive page, Booking.com and Google Hotels. Romantic Escapes moves check-out to 2pm.

Domestic flight times often fall outside those hours: in July 2026, 2 couples leaving the island at 3.15pm were asked $130 an hour to stay in their villa after 12.15pm, and another guest was quoted $100 plus tax and service.
