Kuda Villingili suits families, couples and surfers who want a 150-metre pool, 8 restaurants and the Chickens surf break: the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night is $1,269 for 2 adults, from 6 November 2026. Anyone who wants to snorkel from the beach will be happier at a house reef: here the reef is a boat ride.

The central pool at dusk, lit up, with a table laid at the water's edge and the villas among the trees around it.
  1. The villa to ask for

For 2 adults, I would ask for the Sunset Water Villa with Private Pool: 182 m² over the water, with a pool of 10 by 4 metres, larger than the 9.2 by 3.25 metres of the Sunrise Water Villa.

  2. The weeks that cost less

Read on 12 October 2026, the cheapest week runs from 6 to 12 November 2026: each of its 7 nights at $1,269. The dearest night shown, 24 December 2026, is $3,913, and from 27 December to 10 January the calendar shows no price.

  3. Transfers and minimum nights

Return speedboat transfers are free from 3 nights, the resort’s offers page says; for shorter stays Booking.com lists $310 per adult aged 12 and over, children under 12 free. The all-inclusive offer needs 4 nights.

What Kuda Villingili is

Kuda Villingili is an independent resort on an island of the same name in the north of North Malé Atoll. The island was once a chicken farm, the resort says, which is how Chickens, the surf break just offshore, got its name. The MICHELIN Guide, which lists it, writes that the Maldivian firm GX Associates designed it, with interiors by Singapore's URBNarc, and that it was meant to open under GHM's Chedi brand before launching on its own. There are 75 villas and residences, 36 over the water and 39 on the beach, all with a private pool; guests' Google reviews begin in 2021.

The reason to choose it is how much there is on one island half an hour from the airport: a 150-metre central pool, which the resort calls the largest in the Maldives, 8 restaurants and 3 bars, a whisky and cigar lounge, a spa on its own islet reached by a wooden bridge, the Kuda Fiyo kids' club with its island train, flood-lit tennis courts, padel and pickleball, and surf lessons at Baby Chickens. The speedboat is free from 3 nights.

The bill depends on what the rate covers. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 started at $1,269 with breakfast in October and reached $3,935 on 24 December; all-inclusive is an offer for 4 nights or more. Restaurants and activities outside the plan are paid for separately, so anyone who wants to know the bill before flying books the all-inclusive. The reef snorkelling on the offers is a boat trip, and no official page says whether the pools are heated.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

On one island 30 minutes by speedboat from the airport, Kuda Villingili brings together 75 villas with private pools, a 150-metre pool, 8 restaurants and the Chickens surf break just offshore.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Big, new, spotless villas, each with its own pool: guests who split their stay between beach and water praise both, and remember the water villas for the view and the size of the pool.

The scores come from 198 Google reviews with text, left from 17 May 2021 to 2 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in North Malé Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in North Malé Atoll:

Price: for two on the night of 6 November 2026, from $1,269 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

Good to know before you book

  • For surfing the website gives May to October; the surf offer runs from April to October. Source: kudavillingili.com

  • Breakfast is what most rates include. On 6 October 2026 the website's offers on Google were breakfast or half board; the all-inclusive offer, with drinks from 11am to 11pm, 3-course lunch and dinner and a 60-minute massage, needs 4 nights, and so do the free dinners in 5 restaurants on the direct-booking benefits.

  • The reef is a boat ride. The KV Faru snorkelling trip on the offers goes out once a stay; the resort map marks 2 coral gardens off the island. Anyone choosing an island for snorkelling from the shore will be happier where there is a house reef.

  • No official page says whether the pools are heated, or gives their hours. The main pool is in the middle of the island, among the palms and the restaurants; the villa pools are private and always open to their guests.

  • Some charges come on top. Booking.com lists a green tax of $12 a person a night, paid at the resort, and $310 per adult for the speedboat on stays of fewer than 3 nights; the spa's and the restaurants' prices include 10% service and 17% tax.

Questions before you go

What people ask before booking Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, with sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Kuda Villingili?

A 5-star independent resort on its own island in North Malé Atoll, with 75 villas and residences, 36 over the water and 39 on the beach, all with a private pool, as the website wrote in December 2025. The MICHELIN Guide lists it among its hotels and writes that GX Associates, a Maldivian firm, designed it, with interiors by Singapore's URBNarc, and that it was planned under GHM's Chedi brand before opening on its own.

The island was once a chicken farm, which gave its name to Chickens, the surf break offshore. Guests' Google reviews begin in 2021; the resort is a partner of the GHA DISCOVERY programme, and in 2025 it was named among the 5 best overseas leisure resorts in the Condé Nast Traveller Middle East readers' awards.

Which villas are there and how big are they?

10 types, all with a pool, on the accommodation pages. Over the water, the Sunrise and Sunset Water Villa, 182 m²; on the beach, the Sunrise and Sunset Beach Villa, 152 m², each for 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults. Then the Two Bedroom Beach Villa and Residence, 400 m²; the Three Bedroom Beach Residence, 664 m², and Retreat, 764 m²; the Four Bedroom Beach Villa and Residence, 664 m², for up to 12 adults.

The website gives the 3-bedroom Residence the same 664 m² as the two 4-bedroom houses, and prints one pool size, 10 by 4 metres, for every residence. On 7 October 2026 its offers on Google started at $1,269 for a Sunrise Beach Villa with breakfast and reached $4,695 for the Retreat.

Where is it, and is the island quiet?

On Kuda Villingili, in the north of North Malé Atoll, 30 minutes by speedboat from Velana airport, as the home page says; the MICHELIN Guide places it by the local island of Thulusdhoo. The resort map shows a main island with a sunrise and a sunset beach, the jetty of water villas and the spa's islet, joined by paths.

Guests describe it as quiet and private even when busy: in October 2026 one wrote that it was 80% full and still felt calm.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?

By speedboat, 30 minutes from Velana International Airport, with transfers around the clock, according to the home page. The offers page gives free return transfers for stays of 3 nights or more; for shorter stays Booking.com lists $310 per adult aged 12 and over, children under 12 free, and asks for flight details 3 days ahead.

The website mentions only the speedboat. Guests in 2025 and 2026 describe a representative at the airport and a boat ready within minutes; a Japanese guest in July 2026 timed the crossing at about 20 minutes.

Can you drive there or park?

No: it is an island reached only by boat, with no roads for cars. The Google Hotels card lists free parking, an error for an island. Guests get about on foot, by bicycle, which the residence pages list among the amenities, and children ride the island train in the evening, as the website describes.

How do you get into the sea?

From the beach villas and residences you step onto the sand of the sunrise or the sunset beach, on the resort map; the water villa pages describe the lagoon right below the deck. Kayaks and paddleboards are free with direct bookings, says the book-direct page.

On the surf side the sea is rough, as the break needs; for swimming there are the lagoon below the water villas and the 150-metre pool.

Is there a reef you can swim to?

The resort map marks 2 coral gardens off the island, one beyond the water villas and one by the spa, and the water activities page promises manta rays and reef sharks on snorkelling and dives. The reef trip on the offers, KV Faru, is an excursion by boat, once a stay.

Snorkelling here means going out by boat: from those trips guests report turtles, sharks and rays, in October 2025, and in July 2026 a family wrote of fantastic snorkelling with plenty of fish.

What pools are there?

The central pool is 150 metres long, the largest in the Maldives according to the pool page, with open-air jacuzzis, sun loungers set partly in the water, cabanas and shallow sections for children; the experiences page also lists an Olympic-length lap pool. Every villa has its own pool: 6 by 3 metres in the beach villas, 9.2 by 3.25 in the Sunrise Water Villa and 10 by 4 in the Sunset Water Villa, as their pages say.

Booking.com’s summary mentions a rooftop pool, which no official page shows.

Are the pools heated, and when are they open?

No official page says the pools are heated or gives their hours. The villa pools are private and always open to their guests. Aqua yoga and aqua fitness take place in the main pool, as the weekly schedule shows.

Where do you eat, and until when?

The direct-booking benefits add a free 3-course dinner every day in Spice, East, Earth, Fire and Ocean for stays of 4 nights on half board or all-inclusive, and up to 2 children under 12 stay and eat free from the children's menu. Teppanyaki stays outside even the all-inclusive offer, and Mar-Umi is 15% off on half board.

The Spa stands on its own islet over the water, reached by a wooden bridge, as the website describes. The spa page counts 8 treatment villas, the spa menu 9, with a floral bathtub, steam rooms, facials, a nail bar and a salon; the menu uses steam in its body polishes.

No official source publishes the spa's size or a sauna. On the main island the gym has Technogym equipment and trainers, and group classes run every day.

Is the spa included, is there a charge, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are paid, with one exception per offer: the all-inclusive offer and the Family Getaway include a 60-minute massage per adult once a stay, the Surf & Relax offer a 60-minute deep-tissue massage. Resort credit on direct bookings of 4 nights or more can be spent at the spa.

No page publishes a day pass for people staying elsewhere; the island is reached by the resort's boat. The spa menu sets the minimum age at 18.

What are the spa's hours?

From 10am to 7pm, booked through your butler, according to the spa menu. It asks you to arrive 10 minutes early and charges 50% for a treatment cancelled or moved less than 6 hours ahead, and 100% within 2 hours or for a no-show.

Which treatments are offered, and at what price?

According to the spa menu, prices include service and tax: a 60-minute Balinese or aromatherapy massage costs $242, Thai or deep tissue $262, the 4-hands Kuda Villingili Signature Massage $343 for 60 minutes and $403 for 90, an Ayurvedic massage $261 for 75 minutes and Shirodhara $296.

Body polishes with 15 minutes of steam start at $202, the You and I ritual for couples costs $706 for 180 minutes, and the 2-day Pearl package $454 a person.

Is it good for children?

Yes, and families are a large part of its guests. Kuda Fiyo, the kids' club, has indoor and outdoor play areas and weekly activities such as crab discovery, landscape painting and treasure hunts, and the website describes an evening island train; the main pool has shallow sections. The website publishes no ages or hours for the club.

On direct bookings up to 2 children under 12 stay and eat free, says the book-direct page. Booking.com lists children aged 12 and over at the adult rate, meals free for under-6s and an extra bed at $300 a night, while the same page says there are none; the Sunset Beach Villa’s page offers one on request.

What is there on the island besides the villas?

A dive and water sports centre, The Spa, a Technogym gym, the yoga pavilions, 2 flood-lit tennis courts, padel, pickleball, futsal and beach volleyball, as the website lists, the Kuda Fiyo kids' club and recreation centre, a library, The Club for private events, a retail village with boutiques and a photo studio, a clinic and a mosque, all on the resort map.
