Villa Nautica suits families and couples who want a big, lively island, where the bill turns on the meal plan: one night taken alone starts at $279 from 26 May 2027 for 2 adults, the lowest price any seller showed on Google. Anyone after a small, silent island will be happier elsewhere.

The Lagoon, the restaurant on stilts, with water villas either side and the reef beneath the surface.
  1. The villa facing the sunrise

For 2 adults I would ask for a Water Villa with Whirlpool: 86 m² on the east side, facing the sunrise, with an outdoor whirlpool, a private sundeck and access to the lagoon below.

  2. The weeks that cost less

Consider 26 May to 1 June 2027: nights taken alone ran $279 to $285 for 2 adults on Google, read 12 October 2026. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller asked $618 a night; taken alone, those nights start at $384.

  3. On top of the rate

The speedboat costs $185 per adult and $98 per child under 12, return, and outside boats are not allowed. One child under 12 sharing the room stays free but pays half the adult price for breakfast.

  4. Sharks around the Hook

5 guests who wrote between December 2025 and April 2026 saw sharks and fish around Hook, the seafood restaurant at the end of the overwater jetty; one watched them swim beneath the table.

What Villa Nautica is

Villa Nautica is the former Paradise Island, renamed by Villa Resorts, the Maldivian family group that owns and runs it: 282 villas on an island under a kilometre long, 7 restaurants, a kids’ club for children up to 12, a dive centre and a water-sports centre that takes surfers out to the North Malé breaks. It is a sociable island, with the Captain’s Bar open round the clock, music in the evenings and the lights of Malé on the horizon. The choice is between the sand, from 54 m² Beach Villas to 150 m² pool villas, and the water, from 77 m² Water Villas to the Ocean Suites with their own pools.

In the latest 536 Google reviews, from 3 August to 12 October 2026, 98% of those who mention the staff praise them. Full board covers 3 buffet meals with water, tea and coffee, and everything else is extra, $13 for a soft drink, a September guest explains; others describe lorries and construction noise near their villas, and those who asked were moved. With 282 villas it is a big, lively island: anyone after a secluded hideaway will be happier elsewhere. The speedboat costs $185 per adult, says the resort’s FAQ.

How we choose the hotels

Those who come back

Among the hotel’s regulars, 8 write of the staff’s warmth and 4 write of the reef. One writing in March 2026, back after 8 years, finds more coral than before and plenty of fish on the house reef. One came back only 2 months after the previous stay, and another, writing in August 2026, was offered a dinner at the Japanese restaurant on returning.

  • 16 of the 1,836 reviews with text say it is not a first stay

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Villa Nautica’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. The island is 20 minutes by speedboat from the airport: guests tell of the lagoon, the beaches and the house reef, with its fish, rays and small sharks.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe spacious, clean villas, the Water Villas over the lagoon and, in summer 2026, the newly renovated pool villas, with a large bathroom and an outdoor shower.

  3. Staff and service

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Each guest has a host who looks after them on WhatsApp, and reviews thank the hosts by name; the bar staff and the Wavy Navy Kids Club come up again and again too.

  4. Breakfast

At breakfast guests write of a varied buffet and fresh fruit; it is served at Bageecha, and at The Lagoon for those in the Water Villas, from 7.30am to 10am.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 3 August 2026 to 3 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in North Malé Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Questions before you go

The questions people ask before booking Villa Nautica, with the sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Villa Nautica?

A 5-star resort, according to Google Hotels, on the island of Lankanfinolhu in North Malé Atoll: 931 metres by 201, with 282 overwater and beachfront villas, says the About page. Until its rebrand it was Paradise Island, as the Project Blue Ocean page of Villa Resorts explains; the family-owned Maldivian group was founded in 1986.

The interiors are by the London studio House Nine, the menus were reworked with Food Concepts 360, led by the chef Conrad Gallagher, and the service standards with Forbes Travel Guide. Villa Park, Villa Haven and Royal Island are the group’s other islands.

Which villas are there, and how big are they?

6 types on the beach: the Beach Villa, 54 m² with no pool; the Deluxe Beach Pool Villa, Sunset Beach Pool Villa, Sunset Deluxe Beach Pool Villa and Oceanfront Pool Villa, all 150 m²; and the 2-bedroom Beach Villa with Two Pools, 300 m² for 4 adults and 2 children.

4 over the water: the Water Villa, 77 m²; Water Villa with Whirlpool, 86 m²; One-bedroom Ocean Suite with Pool, 255 m²; and 2-bedroom Ocean Suite with Pool, 391 m². The comparison table gives the One-bedroom 225 m², and the other villas’ pages give the Sunset Beach Pool Villa 140 m².

Is it good for children?

Yes. The Wavy Navy Kids Club is open from 9am to 6pm for children up to 12, with a children’s pool and a nap lounge; babysitting for children from 6 months to 4 years is on request. The dive centre runs Bubblemaker courses for younger divers.

The FAQ says one child under 12 stays free in the parents’ room and pays half the adult price for breakfast. Booked on the resort’s site, the Free-spirited Families offer gives up to 2 children under 12 free stays on full board. Guests between August and October 2026 praise the club and a kitchen that cooks for the youngest.

Where exactly is it, and is it quiet?

On the island of Lankanfinolhu in North Malé Atoll, 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana airport, says the Location page. Its address on Google is Lankanfinolhu, 08420.

Quiet in places. With 282 villas and the Captain’s Bar open 24 hours, the island is lively; the lights of Malé show from the beaches, and in August 2026 a guest sometimes heard aircraft. The resort points to the Cocoon Lounge, a hammock grove, as the quiet end of the island.

How do you get there, and what does the transfer cost?

By speedboat: 20 minutes from Velana, shared with guests from nearby flights. The resort’s counter is E10 in the arrivals hall, says the FAQ, which puts the price at $185 per adult and $98 per child under 12, return; outside speedboats are not allowed.

A 30-day visa is issued on arrival.

Can you drive there or park?

No: Villa Nautica is an island, reached only by the resort’s speedboat, as the FAQ explains. The site says nothing about parking; on the island you walk or ride the buggies, which some guests in the farthest villas had to wait for.

What is the beach like, and how do you get into the sea?

The beach villas open onto the sand and the water villas have private steps into the lagoon, say the villa pages. The Sunset Beach Pool Villas face the turquoise lagoon on the sunset side.

The resort map marks the reef, a snorkelling point, the current and a lifeguard tower. The current changes from one side to the other: in summer 2026 guests describe it as stronger off the eastern beaches and gentle in the lagoon by the Water Villas.

Is there a house reef you can swim to?

Yes: the resort map marks the house reef and a snorkelling point, and the water-sports centre supplies masks and fins, says the water-sports page. Booked on the resort’s site, snorkelling gear is free.

In summer 2026 guests describe fish, rays, small sharks and turtles beneath the Water Villas and near the Italian restaurant. The reef has rules because of the strong current.

What pools are there?

The facilities page lists a free-form infinity pool and a pool with a children’s section; the Kids Club has its own. Aqua Zumba and water polo take place in the infinity pool.

Private pools come with the Deluxe Beach Pool Villa, the Sunset Deluxe Beach Pool Villa, the Oceanfront Pool Villa, the 2-bedroom Beach Villa, which has 2, and both Ocean Suites, which add a whirlpool; the Water Villa with Whirlpool has the whirlpool only.

Are the pools heated?

The resort publishes neither heating nor a temperature for its pools. The only warm water it describes is the whirlpool at Araamu Spa, beside a sauna and steam room, all paid; the pools are outdoors and the resort announces no seasonal closure.

Where do you eat, and when?

The dining page lists 7 restaurants. Bageecha and The Lagoon, the second for Water Villa guests, serve the buffets: breakfast 7.30 to 10am, lunch 12.30 to 2pm, dinner 7 to 9pm. Hook, the seafood restaurant at the end of the jetty, serves lunch from 11am to 3pm and dinner from 6 to 11pm, and closes on Mondays.

Ristorante al Tramonto, the Italian, closes on Wednesdays and Fukuya Teppanyaki, the Japanese, on Fridays. Press & Pot roasts its coffee on the island, Dhaavani Coffee Shop and the Captain’s Bar are open 24 hours and the Beach Bar from 9am to 6pm. Private dinners can be booked on the beach and at the Crow’s Nest.

Is Villa Nautica all-inclusive? What do the meal plans include?

Guests choose between full board, all-inclusive and Premium All Inclusive, the last named in the Winter Escape offer; the FAQ says you can upgrade to all-inclusive on the island, though it costs less booked in advance. The resort does not publish what each plan includes.

Guests in summer 2026 fill the gap: full board covers 3 buffet meals with water, tea and coffee, and the rest is extra; all-inclusive adds drinks at the bars, the minibar, wine by the glass, snorkelling and kayaks, while the Italian restaurant is still charged. For 4 October the resort’s own rate on Google Hotels was $412 on full board and $556 all-inclusive.

What is Araamu Spa like?

Araamu Spa is a tropical garden with private treatment pavilions, says the resort. Its menu lists unisex wet facilities with a whirlpool, sauna and steam room, herbal and flower baths, Ayurvedic therapies, Elemental Herbology facials, manicures and pedicures.

The resort publishes neither the spa’s size in square metres nor its number of treatment rooms. The gym is separate, open early until late.

Is the spa included in the room rate, and can outside guests use it?

It is paid for: the spa menu prices an hour in the whirlpool, sauna or steam room at $59 for one and $89 for 2, service and tax included; all-inclusive guests get a discount on selected treatments, and honeymooners booking direct get 15% off the first.

No day pass for non-residents is published, and the island is reached only by the resort’s speedboat. The one package for outside guests is the Ramadan iftar, a dinner with a return transfer from Malé.

What are the spa’s opening hours?

9am to 8pm, with the last treatment at 7pm, says the spa page; out-of-hours sessions can be requested 24 hours ahead. The spa suggests booking a day ahead and arriving 15 minutes early; cancelling with under 3 hours’ notice costs 75%.

Which treatments are offered, and at what price?

From the menu, titled April 2024: Swept Away, the signature ritual, 100 minutes for $195; Loabi Loabi for couples, 90 minutes for $380; hot stones, 90 minutes for $210; Exotic Cocoon with coconut, 60 minutes for $150; Ayurvedic Shirodhara, 90 minutes for $210; 60-minute massages from $160.

Prices include the 10% service charge and 17% T-GST. There is a prenatal massage for mothers-to-be, and 30-minute treatments for children aged 4 to 10 at $69.

What else is on the island?

The diveOceanus dive centre, with PADI courses and trips to Manta Point and the Victory wreck, and Qadventure’s water-sports centre, open 9am to 6pm: windsurfing, kitesurfing, parasailing, jet skis and surf lessons on the nearby breaks, the closest 3.67 km away, says the surfing page.

On land, floodlit tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, squash, badminton and billiards; a clinic with a doctor round the clock; free Wi-Fi. For meetings there are the Dhinasha room for 460 and Burunu for 243. Check-in is at 2pm, check-out at noon.

What offers are there?

Read on 6 October 2026 on the offers page: Winter Escape, 20% off stays from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027 booked by 31 October, except 24 December to 10 January; Stay Longer for Less, up to 35% off for 10 nights or more; and Advance Purchase, up to 25% off when booked 180 days ahead.

Free-spirited Families gives up to 2 children under 12 free stays; Romantic Honeymoons brings spa and dinner discounts for couples married within the year, for at least 4 nights. Booking direct includes free snorkelling gear and Wi-Fi, and payment on arrival.

Can you marry or honeymoon at Villa Nautica?

Yes, with a symbolic ceremony: the weddings page offers 2 packages with a beach ceremony, a barbecue dinner, boduberu drummers and a photographer; the second adds refreshments for 25 guests, a flower bath and a couples’ massage. Beyond 25 guests a bespoke package is arranged.

The linked price list dates from 2023: $1,999 and $2,999 plus tax and service, and it states that the ceremony is not legally binding. Honeymooners married within the year receive sparkling wine and a fruit basket.

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

The resort had not yet published a programme for 31 December 2026: its festive page still carries the 2025-2026 brochure. That year the New Year’s Eve gala dinner, charged extra, was held on the pool deck from 7.30pm to 11.55pm, with shows, a countdown and fireworks, then a disco.

On 12 October 2026 Google Hotels showed $1,211 for 2 for the night of 31 December 2026, the dearest night on its calendar.

Can you play golf?

No: the resort describes no course and no golf packages. Its land-sports page lists floodlit tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, squash, badminton, table tennis and billiards, with a gym open every day.

When is it open, and what is the best season?

The resort announces no seasonal closure, and the Winter Escape offer runs to 30 April 2027. The FAQ gives November to April as the best months, with clear skies and good visibility for diving; for surfing it is the reverse, with the biggest waves in July and August.

In August and September 2026 guests found renovation work in parts of the island; the resort’s pages, read on 6 October, do not announce it.

How much does a night cost?

Google Hotels, read on 3 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night, taxes and fees included: $358 on 4 October, $498 on 15 October, $307 on 1 November, $586 on 10 November, $336 on 16 December, $1,046 on 24 December, $1,216 on 31 December, $1,008 on 5 January 2027 and $500 on 31 January. All 120 nights from 4 October to 31 January had a price; the calendar names no villa and no meal plan.

For 4 October the resort’s own rate on Google Hotels was $412 for a double room on full board and $556 all-inclusive; Booking.com, Agoda and Priceline asked $468 for a Beach Villa. The speedboat and the green tax are extra.

What do the reviews say?

On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 19,149 ratings, Tripadvisor 4.7/5 from 13,462 with a Travellers’ Choice award, and Booking.com 9/10 from 2,731. In the latest 500 Google reviews with text, from 3 August to 3 October 2026, the service is praised by 98% of those who mention it, the location by 95% and the villas by 91%.

Guests who chose all-inclusive call it good value. On top of the nightly rate come the $185-per-adult speedboat, paid activities and drinks outside full board; in summer 2026 guests also write about the renovation work on the villas.

What taxes and charges are added?

The offer terms name a green tax of $12 per person per night, with taxes and service charges on top, and the offers discount the room only. The resort’s price lists, such as the 2026 iftar, add 10% service and 17% T-GST.

Google Hotels’ calendar for the Maldives includes taxes and fees; the speedboat, $185 per adult return, is separate.
