A row of thatched water villas on stilts over the blue lagoon, the island’s palms behind them.
  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for the Beach Villa with Pool for days divided between the sand and the courtyard: 188 m², a sunken living area and a deck with loungers.

  2. The nights that cost less

The calendar read on 12 October 2026 shows 7–9 November at $913 for each night searched alone. The dearest nights shown are 3 and 4 March 2027, at $2,524 each.

  3. Add the return speedboat

The shared speedboat costs $308.88 per adult return, taxes included, through 4 January 2027; from 5 January 2027 it is $321.75. Add the transfer when comparing the cost of a stay.

  4. Cinema on Latitude beach

Ask which evening the screen goes up on Latitude beach: the resort holds a weekly cinema night there. For a private screening, it can arrange popcorn, drinks and beach chairs.

What Coco Bodu Hithi is

Bodu Hithi is a small island, 410 metres by 140 according to the resort’s own answers, and Coco Collection, the Maldivian group that runs it, has fitted 98 villas onto it: 56 on stilts in the lagoon, 42 on the beach or among the trees, every one with its own pool and between 109 and 198 m². The water villas step straight down to the house reef, where guests in 2025 and 2026 describe hawksbill turtles, reef sharks, moray eels and rays. Velana is 35 minutes away by speedboat.

The resort lives by its table and its staff. Air’s buffet, with themed dinners and a Maldivian night on Fridays, persuaded one couple in April 2026 to cancel their à la carte bookings twice; Tsuki, the Japanese restaurant, draws the most praise. Of the latest 500 Google reviews, 91% of those mentioning the location are positive, and 82% of those mentioning the staff and services.

The bill is worth reading in full. On 7 October 2026 the official site asked $1,118 a night for 2 in an Island Villa with breakfast and $1,927 all-inclusive, taxes included; the shared speedboat is $308.88 a head, return. Guests who write well of the price booked on an offer or took the all-inclusive; the spa, diving and excursions carry a 10% service charge and 17% GST on top. From the even-numbered Coco Residences, since 2025, the building site and its lights on the next island are in view: anyone who wants a dark night over the lagoon asks for a villa on another side.

In the Lumina Guide

Coco Bodu Hithi gives each of its 98 villas a pool of its own, 56 of them on stilts over the lagoon with the house reef below the ladder, on a 410-metre island 35 minutes by speedboat from Velana airport.

Back after 2021

In September 2026 a guest who has been to the Maldives about 11 times gave 3 stars: the food, varied and consistently good, is the strength, but the Coco Residences, handsome and full of character, are starting to feel dated, and against a 2021 stay upkeep and quality had slipped.

Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night, taxes and fees included: $1,195 on 1 November 2026, $913 on 8 November, $913 on 4 December, $1,770 on 24 December, $1,878 on 31 December, $2,042 on 1 January 2027, $1,662 on 15 January and $2,524 on 27 January, the calendar’s peak.

The calendar names no villa or meal plan. October nights cost far less, from $346, but they come from an official-site link that names neither villa nor rate, and the jump on 1 November matches the end of the Local & Expat Exclusives offer, open to residents only: for 7 October the same site asked $1,118 for an Island Villa with breakfast, as did Booking.com. The speedboat and the gala dinners of 24 and 31 December are extra.

What do the reviews say?

On 6 October 2026 Google showed 4.6/5 from 1,484 ratings; on 3 October Tripadvisor showed 4.7/5 from 3,936, with a Travellers’ Choice 2026, Booking.com 8.9/10 from 234, with staff at 9.4 and value for money at 8.4, and Expedia 9/10 from 170.

In the latest 500 Google reviews, March 2022 to September 2026, 91% of those discussing the location are positive, 82% of those discussing the staff and 75% of those discussing the villas. The reef, the waiters and the hosts who look after guests on WhatsApp recur. Service charges and taxes are added to extras, and the speedboat is charged separately. Between 2025 and 2026 the view of the building site on the next island, from the Coco Residences side, and calls for the villas to be refurbished also recur.

What taxes and charges are added?

The website’s rates are subject to a 10% service charge, 17% Goods & Services Tax and a Green Tax of $12 per person per night, according to the terms of its offers; service charge and GST are also added to spa, diving and excursion prices.

Google Hotels’ prices for the Maldives already include taxes and fees: the Booking.com link for 7 October declared $267.94 of $1,117.94 as tax. The speedboat, $308.88 per adult return, and the compulsory gala dinners of 24 and 31 December are extra.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to the FAQ; early arrival and late departure depend on availability. Coco Residences guests get early check-in or a courtesy villa when one is free, according to their benefits.
