  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for a Sunset Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool: 495 m² of indoor and alfresco space with a private pool, on the sand overlooking the aquamarine lagoon: ideal, says the resort, for couples and families alike.

  2. The weeks that cost less

In the calendar read on 12 October 2026 the lowest run is 2 November to 23 December: 52 nights at $753. From 28 December to 3 January a night costs $3,035 to $3,868.

  3. On top of the rate

The seaplane is extra: Booking.com’s listing, read on 3 October 2026, asks $695 per adult and $450 per child, return. Watersports and excursions carry a 10% service charge and the prevailing government taxes.

  4. Kata or Azure, by the night

Dinner à la carte alternates: Kata, the overwater Japanese restaurant, is closed on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; Azure, seafood and grill, is closed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Both seat from 7pm to 10pm.

What Sirru Fen Fushi is

Sirru Fen Fushi, «secret water island» in Dhivehi, is an independent member of The Leading Hotels of the World on Gaakoshibee, in Shaviyani Atoll. Before its change of management it was Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi: the website's photographs still carry that name, and a guest in February 2025 wrote of booking «when it was still the Fairmont». The island is about 1.5 km long, with jungle in the middle and 120 villas across beach, jungle and water, from Sunrise Beach Villas of 360 m² to the 7-bedroom Sirru Residence of 2,500 m².

The reason to come is the sea: the house reef runs for 9 km and is reached from the beach without crossing seagrass, with manta cleaning stations, nurse sharks and more than 40 turtles the resort calls residents. In front of the 200-metre infinity pool stands Jason deCaires Taylor's Coralarium; the kids' club takes children from 4 to 12, and the spa has a 50-metre adults-only pool.

The 55-minute seaplane costs $695 a head and $450 for children, according to Booking.com on 3 October 2026; in August 2026 a guest praised the resort’s car between the airport and the seaplane. The website publishes no meal-plan prices; on Google Hotels a night for 2 ran from $886 to $4,207 between October and January, with nights from 28 December to 6 January above $3,800.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Sirru Fen Fushi’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Guests describe the reef off the villa, turtles, mantas and dolphins, on an island about 1.5 km long with jungle in the middle.

  2. Room

Guests write about the space in the villas, the privacy of those over the water and the private pools.

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about the butlers, often thanked by name, the waiters who remember each guest’s habits and the dive centre’s guides.

The scores come from 51 Google reviews with text, left from 27 January 2025 to 7 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the northern Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the northern Maldives:

Price: for two on the night of 2 November 2026, from $753 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

I would take 2 to 8 November 2026: 7 nights at $753, in the season the resort says brings the finest visibility of the year, calm seas and the most mantas.

What kind of resort is Sirru Fen Fushi?

A resort of 120 pool villas on a natural island in Shaviyani Atoll, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and privately managed, as its about page puts it; the site terms name GBH Maldives as owner. Google Hotels lists it as 5-star, and it holds Green Globe Gold certification.

Before the change of management it was Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi: the site's photo file names, a Fairmont email address left on a dining panel and a February 2025 guest who had booked «when it was still the Fairmont» all recall it. The oldest Google review collected dates from 14 January 2018; the website does not give the date the management changed.

When is it open, and when is the best season?

It is open all year: on Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, all 117 nights from 7 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 had prices, and the website mentions no closure.

The house reef page divides the year like this: October to 20 December for the best visibility and most mantas; 23 December to 10 January for the festive season; 11 January to 30 April for calm seas; May to September for some cloud and fewer guests. There is no parasailing from May to October.

How much does a night cost?

The calendar names neither the villa nor the meal plan. For 7 October the official website asked $972.52, of which $235.52 was tax; Booking.com sold the Sunrise Beach Villa at $1,142 and Priceline at $1,257. The peak falls in the festive season, which the resort sets from 23 December to 10 January. The seaplane, $695 a head, comes on top.

Of the 51 Google reviews with text written since 2025, after the change of management, 95% of those discussing the staff are positive, as are all 12 on the villas and all 18 on the location; only 4 discuss price and 3 breakfast.

The reef, the turtles, the dolphins, the size of the villas, the buffet and the butlers, often thanked by name, keep coming back. The 251 earlier reviews, from 2018 to 2024, tell of the Fairmont.

What taxes and charges are added?

Google Hotels prices for the Maldives include taxes and fees: for 7 October the official site's booking link showed a total of $972.52, of which $235.52 was tax. The seaplane is extra, $695 per adult.

Spa, excursions and watersports are charged with 10% service and government taxes, as the spa price list shows, GST at 17% since 1 July 2025 (MIRA, read on 15 October 2026); the wedding packages in the brochure already include them.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to Booking.com and Google Hotels; the official site's structured data says 3pm instead. Booking through Book Direct guarantees early check-in and late check-out; the villas page offers them subject to availability.
