Rahaa suits couples and seasoned Maldives travellers who want a quiet, natural island: on the resort’s own booking engine, read on 6 October 2026, an all-inclusive night for 2 in a Lagoon View Villa cost $420 on a 2-night stay from 20 October 2026, before the green tax and the transfer. Anyone who wants a swimming pool or a short journey from Malé will be happier elsewhere.

Dhirun’Bar’s covered lounge, its armchairs and low tables open to the beach and the palms.
  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for the Ocean View Villa: 77 m², beachfront with an ocean view, a terrace with a daybed and dining table, and a bathroom with an outdoor shower. The Lake View Villa, 75 m², faces the saltwater lake instead.

  2. Dates that cost less

On the resort’s own engine, read 6 October 2026, an all-inclusive Lagoon View Villa for 2 cost $420 a night on 2-night stays from 20 October to 8 December, against $438 on 24 and 31 December and 12 January 2027.

  3. On top of the rate

Booking.com says the environmental fee is excluded from the rates, and lists an extra bed on request at $120 per person per night, for guests of any age, subject to availability; it states that no cribs are available.

  4. Sunset at Ko’Bar

At sunset, Ko’Bar’s page promises a handcrafted cocktail in a hammock, and its signature pizza after a swim; a guest who wrote in April 2026 ended the day there.

What Rahaa is

Rahaa Resort calls itself a 4-star resort and stands on an island in Laamu Atoll, a part of the southern Maldives its website describes as new to tourism, its beaches and reefs shared by just 2 resorts. Its first Google reviews date from August 2019, and a guest who spoke with the management in 2026 wrote that it belongs to a private owner. The villas, about 100 according to Tripadvisor, are all on land and come in 2 types: the Ocean View Villa of 77 m² on the beach and the Lake View Villa of 75 m² facing the saltwater lake inside the island.

The reason to choose it is the island itself: big, green and quiet, with a shallow lagoon you can walk into for up to a kilometre at low tide, baby reef sharks and rays along the shore, flying foxes, free-roaming hens and hermit crabs on the paths at night. On the all-inclusive, guests in 2025 and 2026 had 2 boat trips a day to snorkel the reef, kayaks and paddleboards, the buffet at Kaagé, a short list of cocktails and a minibar refilled every day, and many remember the staff above everything else.

Rahaa is best chosen knowing what it is: an island far from Malé and left in its natural state. The journey takes a domestic flight and a speedboat, and guests in 2025 and 2026 waited between 4 and 8 hours at Malé, because the resort runs 2 transfers a day. There is no swimming pool, meals are a buffet where rice, chicken and beef return most days, Wi-Fi is weak, and hens, crabs, ants and rats are part of the island; the resort closed for about 3 months in 2026 to refurbish. On the resort’s booking engine, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 all-inclusive in a Lagoon View Villa cost $420, plus the green tax and a $450-a-head transfer.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

Rahaa takes up a big green island in Laamu Atoll, with a saltwater lake inside it and a lagoon you can walk a kilometre into on the falling tide; the all-inclusive covers 2 boat trips a day to the reef.

How we choose the hotels

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

A big, natural island in Laamu Atoll, full of wildlife; the journey from Malé takes most of a day.

  2. Character

Owner-run, wild and unpolished: hens on the paths, a saltwater lake and an uninhabited island across a bridge.

  3. Rooms

2 villa types of 75 and 77 m² with large open-air bathrooms; guests remember the space, the ocean view and the cleaning twice a day.

  4. Food and social life

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Kaagé buffet, with theme nights; anything off the all-inclusive list is charged separately, $7 for a coffee in March 2026.

  5. Wellness

A list of massages with no prices, a small gym; no pool, and no sauna or steam room is published.

  6. The stay as a whole

$420 a night for 2 all-inclusive on the resort's own engine, plus the green tax and a $450-a-head transfer.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Rahaa’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write of a big green island, a shallow lagoon you can wade far into, baby sharks along the shore and beaches they had almost to themselves.

  2. Room

7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests remember large villas with open-air bathrooms, the ocean view and cleaning twice a day.

  3. Staff and service

7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The kindness of the waiters and barmen comes up again and again, and so do the guided snorkelling trips, 2 a day on the all-inclusive.

  4. Breakfast

Breakfast is a buffet, served at Kaagé, the resort’s restaurant on the beach.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. To guests happy with the bill, Rahaa is one of the more affordable resorts in the Maldives; the all-inclusive also takes in 2 boat trips a day to snorkel on the reef.

The scores come from 173 Google reviews with text, left from 2 August 2019 to 21 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Laamu Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Kaagé, the beach restaurant

Breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet, with an à la carte menu, live cooking stations on the beach and theme nights, among them a Maldivian night. Rice, chicken and beef return at almost every meal, guests in 2025 and 2026 report.

Rahaa Spa, massages first

Swedish, Balinese, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, 4-hands and couples massages, coffee-salt and honey scrubs and aromatherapy, as the website lists them, with no prices. A guest in March 2026 praised her massage, and in September 2026 a honeymoon couple received a spa voucher.

The boat to the reef

Twice a day, free on the all-inclusive, the resort's boat takes snorkellers to the reef, 10 minutes out according to a guest in September 2025. Turtle, dolphin and sunset trips are extra, at $100 a person or more in November 2025.

Good to know before you book

  • The return transfer from Malé is a mandatory extra: $450 an adult and $350 a child on the resort’s booking engine, read on 6 October 2026, plus the green tax of $12 a person a night. Source: direct-book.com

  • Outside the all-inclusive, extras are charged separately, plus 10% service and 17% tax: in March 2026 a coffee cost $7, and a buffet meal $40 for anyone without meals included. Source: 173 Google reviews read, 2 August 2019 to 21 September 2026

  • The journey is long: a domestic flight from Malé to Kadhdhoo and a speedboat, with waits of 4 to 8 hours at Malé reported in 2025 and 2026, as the resort runs 2 transfers a day. Allow a whole day each way.

  • There is no swimming pool. The website's accommodation page speaks of private pools, yet neither villa page lists one and guests in 2025 and 2026 found none on the island.

  • The resort closed for about 3 months in 2026 to refurbish, reopening shortly before September. The villas have some years on them: before the closure, reviews of 2025 and early 2026 kept returning to stained linen, rust and air-conditioning in need of repair.

  • The island is left natural: hens roam free, and rats, ants and crabs are part of the stay, as many guests warn. Across the bridge behind the lagoon is the resort’s service area, with its machinery and the island’s rubbish.

  • Bring reef shoes: the beaches are full of broken coral, and at low tide the lagoon stays shallow for a long way out, with seagrass in some months.

Just after the reopening

In September 2026, 2 guests writing in German spent 2 weeks on the all-inclusive, about €4,600, and were upgraded to the ocean side. The villa was cleaned twice a day and the island felt almost their own; the resort had only just reopened, and the new team was still finding its feet.

Rays a few metres out

In March 2026 an Italian couple found the reef beginning as soon as they waded in, with rays and turtles a few metres from the beach and baby sharks at the water's edge. The buffet kept to rice, chicken and beef, varied with skill; the buildings are dated.

Questions before you go

What people ask before booking Rahaa Resort, with sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Rahaa Resort?

A 4-star resort, by its own description, on an island in Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives, an atoll the website calls new to tourism, with its beaches and reefs shared by just 2 resorts. Its villas are all on land, in 2 types, about 100 according to Tripadvisor and a guest in May 2025; the website prints no total.

Its first Google reviews date from August 2019. A guest who spoke with the management in May 2026 wrote on Tripadvisor that it belongs to a private owner, who bought the island in 2019. It closed for about 3 months in 2026 to repaint and refurbish, and reopened shortly before 1 September 2026, according to a guest who arrived that day and the resort's reply to a review on 12 September.

Which villas are there and how big are they?

2 types, both beach villas on land, as the accommodation page lists them: the Ocean View Villa, 77 m², on the beach facing the Indian Ocean, and the Lake View Villa, 75 m², facing the saltwater lake inside the island. Each has a terrace with a daybed and a dining table and a bathroom with an outdoor shower, and sleeps 3 adults, or 2 adults and a child.

There are no water villas, and a guest who spoke with the management in May 2026 was told there never will be. The accommodation page mentions «private pools», yet neither villa page lists one and guests found none. Booking.com sells the 2 as Villa with Lagoon View and Villa with Sea View, each with a king bed; several guests who booked the lake side were moved to the ocean side at no charge.

Where is it, and is the island quiet?

In Laamu Atoll, south of Malé: the contact page gives «Laamu Atoll, 15062», and Tripadvisor lists the island as Kudafares, 15.8 miles from Kadhdhoo airport. It is green and wooded, with a saltwater lake at its centre, a lagoon the website calls one of the biggest in the Maldives and, across a bridge, an uninhabited island with a wild beach.

It is very quiet: guests in 2025 and 2026 write of few people and empty beaches, and in May 2025 one was told there were 16 guests on the island. Evenings are calm, with karaoke 3 nights a week in March 2026. Across the bridge behind the lagoon is the resort’s service area.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?

By a domestic flight and a speedboat. The resort's booking policies give 55 minutes from Velana airport to Kadhdhoo, in Laamu, then about 30 minutes by speedboat; its own description on Tripadvisor says 30 to 40 minutes of flight and 20 to 30 of boat, and guests in 2025 and 2026 counted an hour in the air and 40 minutes at sea. The flight lands at an airport, so there is no seaplane.

The booking engine adds the return transfer to every booking as a mandatory extra: $450 an adult and $350 a child, read on 6 October 2026, and warns that the carrier's fare can change; Booking.com counts a $388 shuttle fee a person instead. Guests in 2025 and 2026 waited 4 to 8 hours at Malé for the flight, and one in February 2026 learnt that the resort runs 2 transfers a day; a representative meets you at the airport.

Can you drive there or park?

No: Rahaa is an island reached only by plane and boat, with no roads or cars. Guests get about on foot, along sandy paths where, guests warn, hermit crabs cross at night, so a torch helps.

How do you get into the sea?

Straight from the beach: the Ocean View Villas stand on the shore facing the ocean, and the lagoon is shallow and tidal, so at low tide you can walk out a long way, up to a kilometre in the words of a guest in August 2025. Guest after guest advises reef shoes, because the sand is full of broken coral.

The Lake View Villas face the saltwater lake inside the island; swimming is in the sea and the lagoon. In some months the shore fills with seagrass, as it did in February 2025 and February 2026, and guests note that the beaches are cleaned every morning.

Is there a reef you can swim to?

The snorkelling page promises the longest house reef in the Maldives, just steps from the villas, and daily guided trips. Guests in 2025 and 2026 reached the reef on the resort's boat, which goes out twice a day, free on the all-inclusive; a guest in September 2025 put it 10 minutes away.

From the shore you see baby reef sharks, rays and at times turtles, guests wrote in March and May 2026, and some swam out to the reef on their own; a guest in February 2025 found mostly seagrass and grey coral. The Atlanteans package offers the house reef every morning.

Is there a swimming pool?

No. Guests in March 2025, February 2026 and March 2026 found no swimming pool on the island, one in January 2020 saw the shell of one being built, and in March 2025 another was told a pool was planned. The accommodation page speaks of «private pools», yet neither villa page lists one. Swimming is in the sea and the lagoon.

Are the pools heated, and when are they open?

With no pool, the water is the sea's: warm, guests write, and in the lagoon shallow and changing with the tide, its colour shifting with the hour, as a guest noted in March 2025. The website publishes no hours for the beaches or the bars beside them; a guest in June 2025 found 32 degrees in the air and 84% humidity.

Where do you eat, and until when?

At Kaagé, the beach restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as a buffet, with an à la carte menu, live cooking stations and theme nights, among them a Maldivian night. The bars are Dhirun’Bar on the ocean beach, easy-going by day and a cocktail bar at night, and Ko’Bar by the lake, with pizza and hammocks for the sunset; Kream makes ice cream.

The website publishes no opening hours. A guest in March 2025 found Ko’Bar open from 4pm to 7pm, and one in September 2026 found a single bar open in the evening; Booking.com also lists The Shack, Mexican, for lunch and dinner. The private dining page offers dinners on the beach, on a private island or in the villa. At the buffet rice, chicken, beef and fish return at almost every meal, guests report.

What meal plans are there, and what does the all-inclusive include?

3, on the resort's booking engine, read on 6 October 2026: half board, full board («Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner») and all-inclusive («All meals plus Beverages»), each for at least 2 nights, half board 3 or 5; the website itself publishes none. According to guests between February 2025 and April 2026, the all-inclusive covers the buffet meals at Kaagé, 4 alcoholic and 4 non-alcoholic cocktails from a set list, house wine, canned beer and soft drinks, a minibar refilled daily with 2 cans of soft drink, 2 of beer and 2 bottles of water, 2 snorkelling trips a day, and kayaks and paddleboards.

Everything else is charged separately: in March 2026 a coffee cost $7, a packet of biscuits $10 and a buffet meal $40 for those not on the plan, and in February 2025 a margherita pizza $25. A couple in September 2026 paid about €4,600 for 2 weeks on the all-inclusive and found it good value.

What is the spa like?

Rahaa Spa is a massage spa: its page lists Swedish, deep-tissue, Balinese, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, 4-hands and couples massages, foot reflexology, scrubs and aromatherapy, and the gym has treadmills, exercise bikes and free weights. The website gives no size, no number of rooms and no sauna or steam room; Booking.com lists a yoga studio and an open-air bath.

In January 2020 a guest found the spa set up in one of the lagoon villas, offering massages only. In August and September 2025, 2 guests found it closed, while a guest in March 2026 had a massage there and a honeymoon couple in September 2026 received a spa voucher.

Is the spa included, is there a charge, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are paid for: none appear in what guests on the all-inclusive describe, and the website publishes no prices. Massages come with the Explorer Package, a 30-minute couples massage, and The Romantic Travelers, couples massages on 2 days, and a honeymoon couple in September 2026 were given a one-hour voucher.

No page publishes a day pass for anyone not staying on the island, which is reached only by plane and speedboat.

What are the spa's hours?

The website publishes no spa hours and no booking rules: treatments are booked on the island. In March 2026 a guest booked a massage without trouble.

Which treatments are offered, and at what price?

The spa page lists Swedish, deep-tissue, Balinese, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, 4-hands and couples massages, a back, neck and shoulder massage, foot reflexology, coffee-salt, honey-and-sugar and exfoliating scrubs, and aromatherapy with lavender or lemongrass oil.

No price is published. The only figure found is a $300 voucher for a couples massage that friends of a guest bought from the resort in 2025. Extras carry 10% service and 17% tax, guests write.

Is it good for children?

Children of all ages are welcome, says Booking.com: an extra bed costs $120 a person a night, and there are no cots. The villa pages list a «Kids Corner» and sleep 2 adults and a child; Tripadvisor lists high chairs.

Guests in 2025 found no children’s club, and the play area was closed. A mother with children of 11 and 13 had a very good stay in March 2026, between the snorkelling trip and paddleboarding.

What is there on the island besides the villas?

According to the villa pages: island-wide Wi-Fi, a business centre, a kids' corner, a gym, laundry, airport transfers, a clinic, the spa, a dive centre and water sports. The water sports page lists kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, windsurfing and the inflatable tube, the land sports page table tennis, billiards, beach volleyball and badminton, and the excursions dolphin and sunset cruises, sport fishing, stargazing and visits to a local island.

Anyone coming for one activity in particular should ask the resort what is running on their dates. In September 2026 the PADI courses had not yet resumed, though a guest made a discovery dive in March 2026; in 2025 there were 1 or 2 canoes for the whole island, and Wi-Fi was weak or absent in November 2025 and August 2026. Karaoke and a Maldivian night are the evenings’ entertainment.

What offers are there?

The offers page, read on 6 October 2026, lists 4 packages with no price or dates: the Explorer Package, with a picnic on a private beach, a local island visit, a jet-ski tour to an uninhabited island, a 30-minute couples massage and sunset fishing; The Romantic Travelers, with a 4-course dinner under the stars, couples massages on 2 days, a sunset cruise, a photo session with 25 photographs and a decorated room; The Atlanteans Package, the house reef every morning; and the Wedding Package.

On Booking.com, honeymoon packages add sparkling wine, a fruit platter and flowers, on presentation of a marriage certificate no older than 6 months. In September 2026 a honeymoon couple were given a decorated room, fruit, wine, a one-hour spa voucher and 25% off everything.

Can you get married at Rahaa Resort?

The resort sells a Wedding Package: a wedding planner, a pavilion on the beach or facing the lagoon and 2 islands, a bridal bouquet, a headpiece and a boutonniere. The occasions page speaks of anything from an intimate ceremony to a large celebration, but no page gives a price, a maximum number of guests or whether the ceremony is legally binding.

For a honeymoon package Booking.com asks for a marriage certificate no older than 6 months. None of the guest reviews read describes a wedding held on the island.

Is there a New Year's Eve dinner?

The website publishes no festive programme or New Year’s Eve dinner, and the booking engine lists no gala supplement: on 31 December 2026 a night all-inclusive in a Lagoon View Villa cost $438 for 2, read on 6 October 2026, as in January. Its policies, still dated for 2024–2025, ask for payment in full 14 days before arrival in the festive season.

Can you play golf?

No golf is offered. The land sports page lists table tennis, billiards, beach volleyball and badminton, and in 2023 guests found a pool table and table football at the bar.

When is it open, and when is the best season?

It has been open again since shortly before 1 September 2026, after about 3 months of closure for refurbishment that a guest announced in May 2026; on 12 September the resort's reply to a review said it had recently reopened. Its booking engine, read on 6 October 2026, had between 19 and 28 Lagoon View Villas on sale all-inclusive for each stay read from October 2026 to January 2027.

The website does not describe the seasons. Laamu lies just north of the equator: a guest in May 2025 had a few short showers as the monsoon began and found it hotter than most islands, being so far south.

How much does a night cost?

On the resort's own booking engine, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 adults all-inclusive in a Lagoon View Villa cost $420 on 20 October, 10 November and 8 December 2026 and $438 on 24 December, 31 December and 12 January 2027, for a stay of at least 2 nights, with no tax shown on the rate and a green tax of $12 a person a night added. Booking.com asked $435 a night for the same villa and plan from October to December and $454 in January.

The Ocean View Villa cost $455, or $469 from 24 December; full board cost $322 in the Lagoon View Villa and $357 in the Ocean View, $350 and $381 from 24 December, and half board, from 3 nights in the Lagoon View Villa, $210. The engine adds the return domestic flight and speedboat to every booking, at $450 an adult; Booking.com instead counts a $388-a-person shuttle and 10% service in its total and leaves out 17% GST. Google Hotels' calendar, read the same day, showed $1,200 on 62 nights with no villa or plan, far above every rate on sale, so it is no guide to the price.

What do the reviews say?

Google, read on 3 and 6 October 2026, showed 4.0/5 from 235 ratings, 63% of them 5 stars; Tripadvisor 4.2/5 from 513 with a Travellers’ Choice award, and Booking.com 3.3/10 from only 3 reviews. Of the 173 Google reviews with text, 64% of those on the location are positive, and 66% of those on the villas and on the staff. Some guests find Rahaa among the more affordable resorts in the Maldives, while others note high prices for extras; breakfast accounts mention a single juice, little fruit and no yoghurt.

The praise is for the island, the calm, the wildlife, the snorkelling trips and the staff. The journey takes a day, the buffet changes little, the villas have some years on them, Wi-Fi is weak and the island is left natural, insects and animals included.

What taxes and charges are added?

The resort's booking engine shows no tax on its rates and adds the government green tax, $12 a person a night, as a mandatory extra, and its policies say the environmental fee is excluded from the rates. Booking.com, read the same day, includes 10% service and leaves out 17% GST and the green tax, which at resorts is $12 a person a night since 1 January 2025, as the resort’s engine also shows (MIRA, read on 15 October 2026). Excursions and extras are priced in dollars plus 10% service and 17% tax, guests wrote in March 2025 and September 2026; a guest in February 2026 counted 24% on top.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to Booking.com and Google Hotels. Booking.com asks for your flight details in advance to secure seats on the transfer, and the domestic flight sets the arrival time: guests in 2025 and 2026 reached the island between lunchtime and 9pm.
