I would ask for a Sunset Beach Villa: its 76 m² include a partially open-air bathroom, and the furnished terrace gives you a place to linger on the western side of the island.

Dinner beyond your villa
Keymaa Restaurant’s buffet is dedicated to guests in Premium Beach Villas with Whirlpool. Guests in other villa categories get their first meal there free, then pay a $20 supplement for each following meal.
All-inclusive on departure day
For a late flight, plan lunch separately: the all-inclusive ends at checkout or 12 noon, whichever comes first. If transfer rescheduling delays or advances your transfer, the resort says you cannot claim a refund.
What Canareef is
Canareef stands on Herathera island in Addu Atoll, the southernmost, just below the equator; it reopened on 15 January 2022 after 2 years closed and some renovation (resort announcement). The island covers 58 hectares (official site) and more than 8 km of shore on OpenStreetMap: you get about by bicycle, free on the all-inclusive plan, or by shuttle.
The 271 villas are wooden bungalows on the beach, all with part-open-air bathrooms and housekeeping twice a day: 80 Sunrise Villas to the east and 71 Sunset Beach Villas to the west, at 76 m², and 120 Premium Beach Villas with Whirlpool at 97 m², each with a tub for 2 (villas).
Meals are buffets at the Kilhi, from 7.30am to 9.30pm, with French, Maldivian and Sri Lankan dishes (Kilhi); Premium guests have the Keymaa’s buffet, everyone else eats there free once and then pays $20 a meal (Keymaa). The Meera Bar never closes (Meera Bar).

Dolphins and mantas, the bars by the sea, the pool, the spa among the gardens, the kids’ club, Koagannu cemetery
Dolphins and pilot whales round the island, a Second World War wreck, a bar that never closes and Addu’s history within cycling distance.
Diving in Addu
The SSI dive centre covers 25 sites in the atoll, among them the wreck of the British Loyalty, sunk in the Second World War, with courses for beginners (experiences).
The Meera Bar and the Dhoni Bar
The Meera Bar, with its pool, is open round the clock and serves seafood à la carte (Meera Bar); the Dhoni Bar, from 10am to 11pm, has a DJ, bodu beru drums and crab races in the evening (Dhoni Bar).
The spa
Among the gardens, with massages and scrubs and suites for one or two (experiences). The long-stay offer added a 30-minute credit, but it could only be booked until 31 May 2026.
The kids’ club
Games, activities and beach time for children from 5 to 12, with an attendant (experiences); according to Booking.com under-5s eat free (Booking.com).
Koagannu and the local island
The tour of Hulhumeedhoo, the next island, takes in the Mathikilhi Eco Garden, the taro fields, wartime relics and Koagannu, the country’s oldest Muslim cemetery (experiences).

You fly from Malé to Gan in 75-95 minutes, then 10 minutes by speedboat; the return trip costs $520 per adult until October 2026 and $530 from November, $445 and $450 from 2 to 11 (Booking.com). The domestic flight allows 20 kg in the hold and 5 kg in the cabin.
If you land in Malé after 10pm the flight to Gan is not guaranteed that day, and you sleep in Malé or Hulhumalé at your own cost (Booking.com).
The gala dinners on 24 and 31 December are compulsory: $160 and $200 per adult, $80 and $100 from 6 to 11 (Booking.com). From 24 December to 6 January Google showed no prices (Google Hotels).
The beach is not the same in front of every villa: on some stretches the sea brings in seaweed and broken coral, as several guests wrote in 2025 and 2026, and a few villas look onto rocks laid against erosion (Google).
Meals are buffets; the all-inclusive serves house brands, one glass at a time, and leaves out the minibar and room service (all-inclusive).
The resort recommends snorkelling in the lagoon at the southern end near Bar-Kuda Beach Bar. It says there is no house reef (resort FAQ).
Between April 2025 and September 2026, 7 Google reviews say the villas and their furnishings are showing their age.

How much does a night at Canareef Resort Maldives cost?
On the Google Hotels calendar, read on 5 October 2026 for 2 adults, a night cost $168 on 16 November and 1 December 2026, $298 on 19 January 2027, $205 on 1 February, $150 on 1 April, the lowest, and $160 on 1 May, a price that holds until August. From 24 December to 6 January Google showed no prices.

What does the all-inclusive include?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner from the Kilhi’s buffet; beer, house red, white and rosé, house spirits, some cocktails, soft drinks, carton juices, tea, coffee and water at the plan’s bars, one glass at a time; 2 bottles of water a day in the villa; snacks at the Dhoni Bar from 4.30 to 5.30pm; bicycles. It gives 15% off the Meera Bar’s à la carte menu and 10% off water sports (all-inclusive).
The minibar and room service are excluded, and everyone in the villa must take the plan, children included. The resort also sells bed and breakfast, half board and full board.

Where is Canareef Resort Maldives, and is it quiet?
On Herathera island in Addu Atoll, just south of the equator: 11 km from Gan as the crow flies, 10 minutes by speedboat, and 536 km from Malé (OpenStreetMap). The villas are spread over 8 km of shore, and in September 2026 a guest found the noise minimal; in the evening the Dhoni Bar has a DJ and drums (Google, Dhoni Bar). A guest in October 2026 writes that the island is joined to the inhabited part, which you reach by bicycle.
What is the spa like?
It sits among the gardens, with detox massages, scrubs and private suites for one or two (experiences); a resort article calls it the Dhunfini Spa. Its size, a sauna or a steam room are not published.
What is the pool like?
There are 2: the Meera Bar’s, for staying guests only, and the Dhoni Bar’s, open to day visitors too (day visits). Sizes and temperature are not published; the Premium Beach Villas have a whirlpool for 2.
Is Canareef Resort Maldives open all year?
Yes: Google’s calendar, read on 12 October 2026, had prices for every month from November 2026 to August 2027, except from 24 December to 6 January (Google Hotels). From May to August a night cost $160.
Does Canareef have a house reef?
The resort says Canareef has no house reef. It recommends the southern lagoon near Bar-Kuda Beach Bar or a snorkelling excursion around the atoll; swimming is allowed on the west (sunset) side and prohibited on the east (sunrise) side (resort FAQ). The resort describes a lagoon with blacktip sharks and eels, and runs snorkelling by boat and dives at 25 sites in the atoll (experiences).
Which villa should you choose?
All are on the beach: the 76 m² Sunset Beach Villa on the west side, for sunsets; the 76 m² Sunrise Villa to the east, for sunrises; the 97 m² Premium Beach Villa with Whirlpool, for its tub for 2 and the Keymaa’s buffet (villas). For the Premium the website gives up to 4 adults, a 2023 article by the resort up to 3 (resort article).
Is Canareef good for children?
Yes: the kids’ club takes children from 5 to 12 with an attendant (experiences), and according to Booking.com under-5s eat free, a cot is free up to 1 and an extra bed up to 5 (Booking.com). The transfer from 2 to 11 costs $445 or $450.
Is the spa included?
No, treatments are charged. The spa sits among the gardens, with detox massages, scrubs and suites for one or two (experiences); day visitors can use it too.
Can you visit Canareef for the day?
Yes, if you live or work in the Maldives: entry costs $25 per adult and $12 per child, with lunch at the Kilhi $50 and $25, from 10am to 4pm, taxes included; book by 6pm the day before, and the speedboat is extra (day visits).
Can you get married at Canareef?
Yes, with a symbolic ceremony on the beach: packages cost $550, $850 and $1,200, taxes and service included, and are not legally binding (weddings). The $1,200 one includes dinner, a 2-tier cake, champagne, a photographer and a couples’ massage.
