For a proper island without a seaplane or big-resort prices, Malahini starts at $141 for one night, 2 adults, from 1 April 2027: the lowest price any seller showed on Google. If a shared pool matters, look elsewhere: only the pool villas and suites have one, each its own.

  1. The room for the sea

I would ask for a Garden Room if the sea matters more than the room: a guest back for the 6th time, writing in May 2026, called it perfect for diving and other water sports, easy, convenient and super comfortable.

  2. The week to consider

Consider 1 to 7 April 2027: every night for 2 adults showed $141 on Google, read 12 October 2026. The dearest week shown, 26 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, ran from $359 to $394 a night.

  3. What comes on top

Late check-out, subject to availability, costs 50% of the daily room rate from 12pm to 6pm and the full rate after 6pm. For 24 December 2026 Booking.com lists a Christmas gala supplement: $250 per adult and $125 per child aged 2 to 11.

  4. The gym open day and night

The Flex gym, in the garden, is open 24 hours and opens with your room key card, with cardiovascular and workout equipment; proper gym attire and footwear are required.

What Malahini is

People choose Malahini Kuda Bandos for convenience and for the sea. The resort’s speedboat takes 12 minutes according to the home page, 15 to 20 according to its FAQ; the island is thick with palms and banana plants, and the reef starts where the sand ends: in 2026 guests describe small sharks, octopus and shoals of fish a few metres from the shore. The resort is Maldivian-owned and marked its first 10 years on 2 September 2026.

The room makes the stay. The 100 m² Sunrise Beach Pool Villas and 200 m² Beach Pool Suites have their own pool and spa tub on the beach, and draw the warmest reviews. The Deluxe, Superior and Garden Rooms measure 22 to 27 m² on their pages, include breakfast and have no pool, and the island has no shared one: anyone who wants a pool books a villa or a suite.

The food offers more choice than you might expect: Maaga’s themed buffet over the lagoon, the Bluu’s à la carte menu until 11pm, Kuredhi in the garden and Thari, a deck in a tree about 5 metres up. On top of the rate come the shared speedboat, which Booking.com lists at $100 per adult return, taxes, excursions and drinks ordered à la carte; the guests most satisfied with what they spent had booked a package with full board and the transfer.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

Malahini Kuda Bandos is a palm-covered island 12 minutes by speedboat from Malé’s airport, where you snorkel straight off the beach and the villas and suites keep their own pool on the sand.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 25 June 2022 to 25 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay near Malé: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against near Malé:

A tenth trip to the Maldives

In March 2026, 3 adults and a baby chose Malahini for its closeness to Malé and for suite 703: over 200 m², a Maldivian-style bathroom and a private garden with a pool. After 9 trips to the islands, they write, one of their best choices, above all for the staff.

Small sharks outside the villa

In April 2026 a guest in a villa by the sea describes every kind of fish, sharks, octopus and lobster round the island, a clean, warm pool and spa tub and a bathroom that feels almost outdoors. The one complaint: a few too many sales pitches for extras.

A $220 night

In July 2026, on a company retreat, a guest paid $220 for 2 in a Garden Room, including taxes, full board and the speedboat: unbeatable, he writes, among the resorts near Malé. The room was functional, the beach clean and well kept, and the boat from the airport took 10 minutes.

A honeymoon and the speedboat bill

In August 2026 a honeymoon couple in a Sunrise Pool Villa found the island beautiful, but Booking.com had shown the speedboat at $50 per person return and on arrival it was $50 each way: the resort’s normal rate, they say, worded misleadingly.

The view of Malé

In January 2026 a German couple left after 3 of the 9 days they had booked: very friendly staff and excellent food, but the view of Malé’s tower blocks, boats always at anchor, dirty loungers without cushions and planes from 6am took away the sense of being far from it all.

Questions before you go

What people ask before booking Malahini Kuda Bandos, answered from sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Malahini Kuda Bandos?

A resort on its own island, Kuda Bandos, in North Malé Atoll, Maldivian-owned and run, as the resort’s tenth-anniversary page of 2 September 2026 explains; its first Google reviews date from 2016. It calls itself a boutique 5-star, while Google Hotels rates it 4 stars and Tripadvisor 4 out of 5. The website does not publish a room count; Tripadvisor gives 76, in 5 types. The latest refurbishment added the Beach Pool Suites, Kuredhi and Thari.

Bandos Maldives, on the neighbouring island, is a different resort: Malahini sells a 3-hour trip there at $55 per person in its Marine Hub price list.

Which villas and rooms can you choose from?

5 types, on the room pages. With their own pool and spa tub, on the beach: the 200 m² Beach Pool Suites, with a bathtub, outdoor shower and cabana, and the 100 m² Sunrise Beach Pool Villas, which face the sunrise. Without a pool: the 27 m² Deluxe Room along the shore, with a partial sea view, for up to 3 guests; the Superior Room upstairs, 22 m² on its page but 18 in the brochure, for up to 2; and the 24 m² Garden Room facing the garden, for up to 3. All include breakfast at Maaga and non-motorised water sports.

The website’s booking form still lists names its pages no longer describe, such as Deluxe Beach Villa, Ocean View Suite and Family Beach Villa. According to the FAQ, Garden Rooms can connect, and so can Sunrise Beach Pool Villas, though only through the deck.

Where is it, and how quiet is the island?

On the island of Kuda Bandos in North Malé Atoll, at 4°15'57" N, 73°29'57" E according to the home page, 9 km from Velana airport according to Google Hotels. The address on the Google listing, in the Jazeera Building on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, is the owning company’s office in Malé.

The island is small and leafy: guests mention chickens, parrots, herons and geckos. The capital is close and visible: Malé’s tower blocks are in view, and between January and April 2026, 3 Google reviews say the planes are often heard.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the speedboat cost?

By speedboat, the only way to reach the island: at Velana airport a representative meets guests, and the resort’s desk is counter A2. The home page says 12 minutes, the FAQ 15 to 20, Booking.com 10. Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026, lists the shared speedboat at $100 per adult and $50 per child return for stays from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026, and a private boat at $400 each way for up to 2 adults plus $140 for each extra person; the same listing offers $75 per person for stays until the end of October 2026.

Flight details are due at least 24 hours ahead according to the FAQ, 3 days ahead according to Booking.com. Anyone arriving on their own boat needs the management’s written permission and pays $300 per person each time it docks. In May 2026 a couple had the speedboat free with a full-board package; in August another understood $50 return and paid $50 each way.

Can you arrive by car or park?

No: Malahini is on an island, reached only by boat. Google Hotels lists parking as unavailable, and the website does not mention it; the only docking charge it publishes, in the FAQ, is for outside boats, $300 per person each time. Malé is a resort excursion, 3 hours at $60 per person in the Marine Hub price list.

How do you get into the sea, and what is the beach like?

The brochure divides the shore into Maaga Beach, Bluu Beach and Marinehub Beach, after the places that stand on them; the pool villas and suites are on the beach, and the Deluxe Room runs along the shore. In many places you enter the water over coral and stones: from February 2024 to March 2026 several guests recommend reef shoes and point to a few places where you can wade in barefoot. The sand moves from one side of the island to the other, the resort writes on its Green Goals page: before choosing a villa, ask how the beach looks on its side in the months of your stay.

Is there a house reef you can swim to?

Yes. The brochure invites guests to snorkel the house reef, and the Marine Hub also takes them out at night, one hour for $60; mask, snorkel and fins cost $17 a day to hire, according to its price list. In February 2024 a guest wrote that the reef starts 60 cm from the beach; in 2026 guests describe small sharks near the shore, octopus, lobster and shoals of fish.

This is the reef of an island 12 minutes from the capital: travellers who come mainly for coral and bigger encounters book the Marine Hub’s trips, to the turtles at $130 and the stingrays at $90.

Is there a swimming pool?

The island has no shared pool. The Sunrise Beach Pool Villas and the Beach Pool Suites each have their own pool and spa tub, listed on their pages as «Pool» and «Jet Pool»; in January 2026 a guest measured the villa’s pool at 1.1 m deep. The Google Hotels listing shows a pool among the amenities: for anyone staying in a Deluxe, Superior or Garden Room that is wrong.

Are the pools heated, and when can you use them?

The website gives no heating, temperature or opening hours for the villa and suite pools, which are private and sit in their own gardens. In April 2026 one guest found the pool and spa tub clean and warm; another that month mentioned the pool attendant checking the water. The floating breakfast is served in these pools, on request, according to its page.

Where can you eat, and until when?

The website describes a main restaurant, 3 speciality restaurants and a bar. Maaga, at the lagoon’s edge, serves a buffet from 7.30 to 10am, 12.30 to 2pm and 7 to 9pm, with a themed dinner every night. The Bluu, à la carte, with cocktails at sunset, opens from 9am to 11pm, last orders at 10.45pm. Kuredhi serves pizza and Mediterranean food from 12.30 to 2pm and 7 to 9pm; the main dining page and the brochure call it Italian. Thari, a deck in a tree 17 feet up, about 5 metres, is booked for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Then there is Bar 75 on the beach.

The beach dinner needs booking; in-room dining runs from 10.30am to 10.30pm, last orders at 10pm. Menu prices exclude 10% service charge and 17% T-GST. Booking.com counts 2 restaurants, Maaga and the Bluu.

Which meal plans are there, and what do they include?

Every rate on the room pages includes breakfast at Maaga. On the Google Hotels listing, read on 3 October 2026, the resort’s own site also sold half board, full board, all-inclusive and All Inclusive Gold. Booking.com sets out the all-inclusive: buffet meals at Maaga, afternoon tea at the Bluu from 4 to 6pm and drinks from 10am to midnight in the restaurants and bars, including water, coffee, tea, soft drinks, canned juice, house beer and wine, 6 house spirits, 17 cocktails and 3 mocktails.

Not included: à la carte dishes, the minibar, excursions, premium spirits, the wine list, fresh juices and drinks between midnight and 10am. On half board drinks are charged, apart from water, as a couple wrote in April 2026.

What is the spa like?

Alizé has 3 treatment rooms in a building with trees growing through its roof, as the Green Goals page explains; the treatments draw on the Orient, Thailand, India, the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and the brochure adds aerial yoga. Neither the website nor the spa menu mentions a sauna, steam room or pool, or gives a floor area. Close by, in the garden, the Flex gym is open 24 hours with your room key.

Is the spa included, and can non-residents use it?

Treatments are paid for separately: the spa menu is in dollars, plus 10% service charge and 17% T-GST, and the room pages do not include the spa. The website publishes no day pass for people not staying on the island, and no rate for day visits. Day visits do happen: in January 2024 a guest described a day at Malahini arranged and charged for by their agent. The wedding package includes a 45-minute massage for the couple.

What are the spa’s opening hours?

Daily from 9am to 8pm, with the last treatment at 7pm, according to Alizé’s page and the spa menu. The Flex gym is open 24 hours.

Which treatments are offered, and at what price?

The spa menu starts at $91.56 for a 40-minute back, head or foot massage; a 60-minute Swedish, Balinese or Thai massage costs $123.46, the Alizé Special $142.60 for 60 minutes and $174.50 for 90, the hot-stone massage $155.36 for 90 minutes and the Jet Lag Reviver $136.22 for 70. Facials of 60 minutes cost $95.70, and the packages reach $282.96 for 150 minutes. All prices carry 10% service charge and 17% T-GST on top.

Is it good for children?

Yes. The Koyya Kids Club takes children aged 3 to 12 every day, from 9am to noon and 2 to 6pm, with a weekly programme of crafts, treasure hunts, films with popcorn and a Maldivian hour. Babysitting needs 24 hours’ notice and is charged, according to the FAQ; cots are available on request in every room type except the Superior. Booking.com welcomes children of all ages and charges them as adults from 12; an extra bed costs $150 a night up to 11 and $250 from 12 to 16.

The dive centre runs PADI Bubble Maker, the try-dive for children, at $140, according to its price list. In July 2026 a family with 2 infants and a 5-year-old paid no supplement.

What else is on the island?

According to the website and the brochure: the Alizé spa, the Flex gym open 24 hours, the Koyya kids’ club, the Marine Hub with water sports and a 5-star PADI dive centre, the Keyo shop open from 10am to 10pm, a small clinic by the arrival jetty with a nurse, free consultations and medicines charged, and games: beach volleyball, pool, table football, air hockey and darts. In the evening there is live music, karaoke, DJs, shows and beach cinema, according to the entertainment page.

Wi-Fi is free and scores 9.1/10 on Booking.com. The resort has produced 30% of its power from solar panels since January 2019 and serves water in glass bottles, according to its Green Goals page.

Are there any special offers?

Read on 3 October 2026 on the offers page: the Getaway Deal, for stays until 22 December 2026, and the Early Booker Deal, from 23 December 2026 to August 2027; neither publishes its discount. Booking.com was offering the shared speedboat at $75 per person return for stays until the end of October 2026. For honeymoons and proposals, the celebrations page refers guests to the reservations team.

Can you get married at Malahini Kuda Bandos?

Yes, with a symbolic ceremony. The published wedding package costs $1,500 and includes the wedding march, a master of ceremonies, the bouquet, a one-tier cake, a personalised symbolic certificate, bodu beru drummers, a sunset catamaran cruise, a 5-course candlelit dinner, champagne, a 45-minute massage for the couple, and hair and make-up for the bride. Extras: photography at $240 for 100 images, 25 of them edited, video at $600, an acoustic duo at $400 and a sandbank trip at $245.

The price stays fixed even if not every service is used, and extras must be confirmed at least 2 days ahead.

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

Yes, with a supplement. Booking.com, read on 12 October 2026, charges $400 per adult, from 12, and $200 per child aged 2 to 11 for the New Year gala dinner on 31 December 2026, and $250 and $125 for the Christmas dinner on 24 December. The resort’s FAQ, under its question on mandatory Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners, still gives the 2023 figures: $300 and $350 per adult, $150 and $175 per child aged 3 to 12.

The festive page promises fire shows, acrobats and special dinners, without the 2026 programme. On Google Hotels, read on 12 October 2026, the night of 31 December cost $382 for 2.

Is there any golf?

No: neither the website nor the brochure mentions golf. The island’s games are beach volleyball, pool, table football, air hockey and darts; for exercise there are the Flex gym and the Marine Hub.

When is it open, and when is the best time to go?

All year: the website announces no closures, and the offers cover stays from October 2026 to August 2027. On Google Hotels, read on 3 October 2026, all 120 nights from 4 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 had a price. The resort has been open for about a decade: its page of 2 September 2026 celebrates 10 years, and the first Google review dates from February 2016.

On the season, guests have their say: in September 2026 a honeymoon couple met only a few short showers, and in May a guest found the little beach by the Garden Rooms calmer in the low season.

How much does a night cost?

Google Hotels, read on 3 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night, taxes and fees included: $235 on 7 October 2026, $656 on 26 October, $202 on 15 November, $248 on 20 December, $390 on 28 December and $250 on 20 January 2027.

These figures include taxes and fees, as Google shows them for the Maldives market, and name no room or meal plan; the cheapest night was $198, on 6 and 18 October. For 4 October the resort’s own site asked $406 for a Garden Room on half board, $557 for a Sunrise Beach Pool Villa on half board and $673 all-inclusive; Booking.com $316 for a Garden Room and $925 for a Sunrise Beach Pool Villa. The speedboat is extra, and Booking.com adds a Green Tax of $12 per person per night.

What do the reviews say?

On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.3/5 from 1,507 ratings, Tripadvisor 4.5/5 from 2,146, with a 2026 Travelers’ Choice award and first place, of one, among Kuda Bandos hotels, and Booking.com 8.4/10 from 1,299, with 9.0 for staff and 7.9 for value. In the 500 most recent Google reviews, June 2022 to September 2026, 80% of those who mention the location like it, 76% the staff and services and 71% the rooms.

The praise goes mostly to the restaurant and reception staff, the pool villas and the sea. The rate excludes the speedboat, taxes, excursions and à la carte drinks; guests satisfied with the bill had booked a package with full board and the transfer. Only the villas and suites have a pool.

Which taxes and charges are added?

Every price on the resort’s website and on the island excludes 10% service charge and 17% government tax, according to the resort’s FAQ, read on 15 October 2026. On top comes the Green Tax, $12 per person per day at resorts since 1 January 2025, with children under 2 exempt, according to the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, read on 15 October 2026. The menus and the spa list exclude service and 17% T-GST; the Marine Hub and dive centre prices already include everything.

Google Hotels figures for the Maldives market include taxes and fees. The resort takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay, and cash in dollars, pounds and euros, but not damaged notes or notes from the 1990s.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to the FAQ. Early check-in between 8am and 2pm depends on availability; anyone arriving before 8am needs to book an extra night to be sure of a room. Late check-out costs 50% of the daily rate until 6pm and the full rate after that, and an early departure is still charged for every night booked.

In March 2026 a couple who arrived before 2pm were invited to the lunch buffet before going to their villa.
