Naladhu suits couples and families who want a house of their own, with a butler and breakfast at any hour, from $1,144 a night in late August 2027: the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night, 2 adults. Anyone who wants several restaurants on the island itself will be happier elsewhere: it keeps one restaurant and one treatment room.

Like a regular

The arrival jetty from above, a boat moored alongside, the white beach and the row of blue parasols under the palms.
  1. The house for sunsets

For evenings on the sand I would ask for a Beach House with Pool: the resort lists a sunset view and direct beach access, and the butler can arrange a private dinner outdoors under the palms at the house.

  2. The weeks that cost less

In the calendar read on 12 October 2026 the lowest week runs from 23 to 29 August 2027, at $1,144 to $1,193 a night. The dearest night shown, 31 December 2026, was $12,831.

  3. The speedboat on top

The return speedboat is compulsory: the resort’s contact page asks $320 per person before taxes, half for children up to 12 and nothing under 2, while Booking.com asks $425 per adult until 7 January 2027.

  4. Let the butler book

2 guests, writing in June 2023 and February 2026, say their butler handled their bookings, which matters because most of the restaurants lie across the lagoon, on Veli and Dhigu.

What Naladhu is

Naladhu is chosen for privacy. On an island of 9 acres there are 20 houses, named after native plants, each of at least 300 m² with an infinity pool of 8 or 12 metres, a deck with a dining pavilion and a butler, the Kuwaanu. The Ocean Houses face the sunrise from the island’s raised ocean edge, with a private cabana on the lagoon beach; the Beach Houses open through a walled garden straight on to the sand. The site does not say how many there are of each.

On the island itself you eat at The Living Room, where breakfast is served at any hour, or in your house. Everything else is across the lagoon the island shares with Anantara Veli, a few steps away, and Anantara Dhigu, a short boat ride: Baan Huraa’s Thai cooking over the water, Origami’s teppanyaki, the Sea Fire Salt grill, the overwater spa and the Dhoni kids’ club. In the 61 Google reviews with text, 94% of those who mention the staff are positive.

The bill climbs steeply at the turn of the year. Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, showed $1,069 a night for 2 in October and $11,820 for the night of 1 January 2027, taxes included; on Booking.com the shared speedboat adds $425 per adult. The Ocean Houses stand above the rocks with the waves breaking beneath the deck; anyone who wants sand at the door should choose a Beach House.

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

What the badges are

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Naladhu Private Island’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests come back to the island’s privacy, the 30-minute speedboat from Malé and the sister islands a walk or a boat ride away.

  2. Room

Guests remember the space of the houses, the private pool, the ocean view and the housekeeping.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about their butler, by name, the food cooked to order and the care taken over small children.

  4. Breakfast

Breakfast is served at any hour, on the beach or at The Living Room, and you can ask the chef for your own dishes.

  5. Price

The All Inclusive Indulgence rate covers meals and drinks on the 4 islands of the lagoon and the shared speedboat to and from the airport.

The scores come from 61 Google reviews with text, left from 17 July 2013 to 9 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Malé atolls: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Malé atolls:

Price: for two on the night of 24 August 2027, from $1,144 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

From 5 April to 6 September 2027 nights run from $1,144 to $1,540, against $2,188 to $2,812 from 8 January to 4 April. I would look at the weeks from 23 August 2027, where the calendar shows $1,144 or $1,193 every night.

What to expect

Dinners laid wherever you ask, a spa that comes to the house and a surf break off the island.

Dinner where you choose

Breakfast at The Living Room has no closing time. In the evening the butler books the tables across the lagoon, from Baan Huraa to Origami and Sea Fire Salt, all open from 6.30 to 10pm; or dinner is laid on a deserted stretch of beach, in a coconut grove or in a cabana, with the menu set by the chef.

Treatments in the house

Naladhu has one treatment room for one or two people, open from 10am to 7pm, and its therapists also work in the house. The full spas are next door: 6 overwater suites at Dhigu, a sauna, a steam room and hot and cold plunge pools at Veli’s Balance Wellness.

A wave off the island

The home page promises one of the world’s most coveted surf breaks moments from the house. The Tropicsurf school at Dhigu teaches every level, and its season runs from May to September; the Surfers’ Sanctuary offer builds a stay around it.

Good to know before you book

  • Naladhu is one of 4 islands on a single lagoon. The restaurants, the overwater spa, the kids’ club and Gulhifushi’s picnic beach belong to Anantara Veli and Dhigu and are shared with their guests; Veli’s facilities are for guests over 18, or for families with a dinner reservation, according to Naladhu’s FAQ.

  • The speedboat is paid separately. Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026, asks $425 per adult from 12 and $212 per child aged 2 to 11 until 7 January 2027, then $450 and $225; a private boat costs $1,158, up to 6 people. The resort’s contact page, read on 5 October, gives a private speedboat from $750 each way for up to 8. The All Inclusive Indulgence rate includes the shared boat.

  • The Ocean Houses stand on the island’s raised edge, above the rocks, and their beach is a cabana on the lagoon side. The waves break on the rocks beneath the deck: some guests love them, and light sleepers will be happier on the other side. The Beach Houses open straight on to the sand.

  • The site gives only the total, 20 houses; the Two Bedroom Ocean House is 2 side-by-side Ocean Houses joined by a connecting door.

  • Expedia describes an adults-only setting. The resort’s own pages say otherwise: each house takes 2 adults and 2 children, and Naladhu’s guests can use the kids’ club at Dhigu; on Booking.com children of every age are welcome.

Waves beneath the deck

In September 2026 a family travelling with a 6-month-old found the island so quiet it felt like their own. Their ocean-facing house sat right above the rocks, with the waves crashing below; massages came to the house, and dinner from the neighbouring resorts arrived by boat. The arrival at the neighbouring Anantara had been a disappointment.

A fence for a 2-year-old

A family of 3 generations spent 10 nights in 2 adjoining ocean-facing houses in August 2026. Knowing they had a 2-year-old, the team fitted a safety fence across both decks and found him toys; after 10 nights the food still felt different every day.

In April 2023 a guest liked everything, from the privacy of Naladhu to the children’s activities on Dhigu, but warned that anything ordered outside the package is very dear: a grilled chicken cost 400 riyals, a soft drink 15.

Questions before you go

The questions people ask before booking Naladhu, answered from sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Naladhu Private Island?

A private island of 20 houses in South Malé Atoll, «a Minor Hotels resort» as the official site signs itself, sold by Booking.com under Anantara Hotels & Resorts and rated 5 stars by Google. Naladhu means «beautiful little island» in Dhivehi; the site credits the late Dr Ibrahim Maniku, one of the fathers of Maldivian hospitality, with the idea, and names each house after a native plant.

The site gives no opening year; the first Google review dates from 2012. A Google reviewer in 2018 counted 19 houses, the site says 20, and the Two Bedroom Ocean House is 2 of them joined together.

Which houses can you choose, and how big are they?

5 types on the accommodation page, all with butler service and an infinity pool. Facing the ocean: the Ocean House with Pool and Private Beach Cabana, 300 m², king bed, an 8 m pool and a cabana on the lagoon; the Jo Loves House, 300 m², with a private steam room and the Jo Loves scent; the Two Bedroom Ocean House with Pool, 600 m², 2 Ocean Houses joined, for 4 adults and 4 children. On the beach: the Beach House with Pool, 300 m², with a walled garden and direct access to the sand, and the Two Bedroom Beach Pool Residence, 600 m², for 6 adults, with a 12 m pool and a full kitchen.

The home page counts the area as indoor and outdoor space. The 300 m² houses take 2 adults and 2 children; the site does not split the 20 houses by type. None stands over the water: according to the site’s FAQ the Ocean Houses sit on the island’s edge, not on stilts.

Where is it, and how quiet is the island?

On Veligandu Huraa, South Malé Atoll, 21 km from Velana airport; the official site gives the address as P.O. Box 2098, Veligandu Huraa. Naladhu shares its lagoon with Anantara Veli, a few steps away, and Anantara Dhigu, reached by a shuttle boat on request; Gulhifushi, the picnic island, completes the 4.

With 20 houses the island is quiet: in September 2026 a couple felt they had it to themselves. The noise is the sea, on the ocean side: guests describe waves breaking under the Ocean Houses.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the speedboat cost?

By shared speedboat, 30 minutes from Velana airport, weather permitting, arranged within 2 hours of reaching the resort’s lounge, according to the official FAQ; Booking.com and Expedia give 35 minutes. Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026, charges it separately: $425 per adult from 12 and $212 per child aged 2 to 11 until 7 January 2027, then $450 and $225 until 7 January 2028; the return trip is shared with other guests.

A private boat costs $1,158 for up to 6 people on Booking.com, while the resort’s contact page, read on 5 October 2026, gives private speedboats from $750 each way for up to 8. The All Inclusive Indulgence rate includes the shared boat, and Maldives Summer Escape halves its price. Expedia asks for flight details 48 hours ahead and advises a night in Malé or Hulhumalé for arrivals after midnight.

Can you arrive by car or park?

No: it is an island reached by speedboat, and Google Hotels marks parking as unavailable. Tripadvisor’s «car recommended» under Getting there does not apply: there are no roads to Naladhu.

How do you get into the sea?

From the beach. The Beach Houses open straight on to the sand, and the Residence has a private beach. The Ocean Houses sit on the island’s raised edge, «cliff-edged» in the words of the site’s FAQ and not on stilts, so their way into the water is the private cabana on the lagoon beach.

Booking.com describes white sand on one side of the island and the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean on the other: calm water on the lagoon, surf on the ocean.

Is there a reef you can swim to?

Yes: the official FAQ lists snorkelling and diving on the house reef, diving courses, swimming with nurse sharks and snorkelling with dolphins and turtles. Kayaks are free for paddling across the lagoon to Gulhifushi. The site publishes no distance from the beach to the reef, nor a map of entry points.

In February 2026 a guest spotted a baby shark; the private yacht goes out to snorkel and dive on reefs further afield.

What pools are there?

Every house has its own infinity pool: 8 m in the Ocean Houses, the Beach Houses and the Jo Loves House, 12 m in the Two Bedroom Beach Pool Residence, according to the accommodation page. A September 2025 guest called the Ocean House pool one of the biggest private pools in the Maldives.

There is also a shared 17 m infinity-edge lap pool, listed among the island’s facilities in the resort’s fact sheet of June 2024, the latest official statement found on 15 October 2026; the current website does not describe it. Across the lagoon Dhigu has an infinity pool, with Aqua beside it, and Veli the pool of the Dhoni Bar, for over-18s.

Are the pools heated, and when are they open?

The site gives neither heating nor temperature. The house pools are yours at any hour; Aqua, beside Dhigu’s pool, serves drinks from 10am to midnight, according to the sister resort’s dining page. Google Hotels lists an outdoor pool and no hot tub.

Where do you eat, and until what time?

On Naladhu, at The Living Room, on the lagoon beach, with a glass-walled wine cellar and breakfast served at any hour of the day, according to the official FAQ and Booking.com; or in your house, round the clock, and at private tables on the beach, in a coconut grove or in a cabana (Dining à Deux).

Across the lagoon, from the sister resorts’ dining page: on Veli, Baan Huraa, Thai over the water, Origami, Japanese with teppanyaki at 6.30 and 8.30pm, and Cumin, South Asian, all for dinner from 6.30 to 10pm, with Cumin also serving breakfast from 7 to 11am; on Dhigu, Sea Fire Salt, an overwater grill, from 6.30 to 10pm, Fushi Café’s buffet, and Aqua, Italian, for lunch and dinner. Dhoni Bar and The Yellow Fin Club are for over-18s. The site says «nine restaurants across four sister islands», its lagoon page «10 dining experiences» and Booking.com lists 8.

What meal plans are there, and what do they include?

Breakfast is included, says Google Hotels, and the room rates on the Beach House page, read on 3 October 2026, came in 3 forms: Stay Longer Special with breakfast; Maldives Summer Escape with 2 meals, an intimate dinner and 50% off the shared transfer; and All-Inclusive Indulgence, «full-board dining and free-flow drinks» across the 4 islands, with the shared return speedboat.

In a note on a limited offer for stays until 30 September 2026, the offers page adds that 2 children up to 12 eat free on their parents’ meal plan. Booked direct for at least 3 nights, every house receives a resort credit of $200, the Residence $400, for the spa or dining but not for gala dinners, and a bottle of champagne.

What is the spa like?

On Naladhu it is small: one treatment room for one or two people, according to the spa page, plus treatments in the house, programmes with nutrition guidance and exercise, and Technogym equipment. The site gives no floor area. The Jo Loves House and the Two Bedroom Ocean House have a steam room of their own.

The larger spas are on the sister islands. At Dhigu, the Anantara Spa stands over the water with 6 treatment suites, 2 open-air salas for Thai massage, a facial room, a beauty and a hair salon. At Veli, Balance Wellness has a steam room and a sauna, an outdoor shower and a relaxation garden with hot and cold plunge pools.

Is the spa included, is there a fee, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are paid for: Booking.com calls the spa à la carte, and the resort credit of $200 per stay, for direct bookings of 3 nights or more, can be spent there. The Spa, Pamper & Wellness Retreat includes a wellness consultation, a treatment and an activity; Waves of Romance and The Residence Experience include a treatment.

Veli’s facilities, with the sauna and plunge pools, are open to guests over 18 or to families with a dinner reservation, according to Naladhu’s FAQ. No page of the resort publishes a day pass for anyone not staying on the islands.

What are the spa’s opening hours?

From 10am to 7pm, both at Naladhu, according to its spa page, and at Dhigu’s overwater spa. Treatments are booked by phone or e-mail, +960 664 4100 or stay@naladhu.com.

Which treatments are there, and what do they cost?

Naladhu’s spa page lists wellness consultations, Beauty Redefined, Detox and Recharge, Gut Health and Immune Balance and Sleep and Restoration, with practitioners in yoga, myofascial release and Thai medicine. Dhigu’s spa offers Romantic Indulgence, 2 hours 30 minutes with a coconut scrub, a massage and a milk bath, and Ayurvedic therapies at Veli’s Balance Wellness: Abhyanga, Pinda Swedana and Shirodhara.

Neither page prints prices. In September 2026 a guest had massages arranged privately in the house.

Is it good for children?

Yes. The 300 m² houses take 2 adults and 2 children, the Two Bedroom Ocean House 4 and 4, and Naladhu’s guests use Dhoni Club, the kids’ club at Dhigu, free of charge according to Booking.com; the official FAQ describes it as an indoor and outdoor play space with daily activities, without giving ages. Google Hotels lists babysitting.

There is no minimum age: Booking.com welcomes children of every age, with free cots and free extra beds up to 11, and charges guests from 12 as adults, $622 a night for an extra bed. Veli’s restaurants take families only for dinner, with a reservation. In August 2026 the team fitted a safety fence across 2 decks for a 2-year-old. Expedia’s «adults-only setting» is wrong.

What is on the island apart from the houses?

According to the official FAQ: daily yoga and meditation, tennis and beach games, cooking classes, diving and diving courses, surfing, snorkelling trips and the resort’s yacht, with free kayaks. Google Hotels adds free Wi-Fi, a gym, a doctor on call, 24-hour room service and daily housekeeping; the gym is equipped by Technogym.

The yacht is called Nirvana on the private yachting page and Raaya in an image caption on the site; it goes out for day or overnight cruises.

What offers are there?

11 on the offers page, read on 3 October 2026, among them: Maldives Summer Escape, from $1,200, with 2 meals and half-price shared transfers; Endless Horizon, from $1,432, with a spa journey; Stay Longer Special, from $860; Waves of Romance, from $1,943, with a treatment, a cocktail and a sunset cruise; All Inclusive Indulgence, The Residence Experience, Surfers’ Sanctuary, the Spa, Pamper & Wellness Retreat, the Jo Loves House and Footprints in the Sand for weddings.

Booked direct, from 3 nights, every house gets $200 of resort credit, the Residence $400, and a bottle of champagne on arrival.

Can you get married at Naladhu?

Yes, as a symbolic ceremony. The Footprints in the Sand offer is a traditional Maldivian ceremony; the sister resort’s Beach Ceremony package, on the same lagoon, lists a celebrant, bodu beru drummers, a flower girl in Maldivian dress, champagne, a cake and an hour of photography, and states that the wedding is «symbolic in nature only and not legally valid», with at least 2 days on the island first.

Neither page prints a price or a number of guests; Dhigu’s terms add taxes, service charge and green tax to its packages.

Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?

Naladhu’s festive offer, «A Festive Season, Beautifully Unscripted», promises a celebration inspired by Gatsby, golden evenings and feasts, without a programme; resort credit does not cover gala dinner charges. Dhigu’s festive page sets its New Year’s Eve gala dinner on the beach on 31 December 2026 from 8pm until late, after a Christmas Eve gala on the 24th and Santa’s arrival by sea on the morning of the 25th.

No price is published. On Google Hotels, read on 12 October 2026, the night of 31 December had no price, and 1 January 2027 cost $11,029 for 2.

Can you play golf?

The home page shows golf among its activity icons, but no page we read describes a course, a simulator or green fees, and the activity lists name tennis and beach games.

When is it open, and which season is best?

All year, according to the official FAQ: the dry season runs from November to April, the wet season from May to October. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, 116 of the 117 nights from 7 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 had a price; 31 December had none, which means unknown, not closed.

Surf season at Dhigu’s Tropicsurf school runs from May to September. From 24 December to 6 January the calendar stays between $5,232 and $5,167 a night, except 1 January.

How much does a night cost?

Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night: $1,069 on 9 October 2026, the calendar’s lowest, $1,601 on 22 October and again on 1 December, $3,160 on 12 December, $5,232 on 24 December, $5,572 on 27 December and $2,188 on 9 January 2027. The night of 1 January 2027 stood at $11,820, and 31 December had no price.

These amounts include taxes and fees: for 7 October the resort’s own site, on the same card, asked $1,124, and its booking link put almost a quarter of that down as tax. The calendar names neither house nor meal plan, and the speedboat is paid separately.

What do the reviews say?

On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.7/5 from 119 ratings, Tripadvisor 4.9/5 from 878, with a Travelers’ Choice 2026 and 4.6 for value, and Booking.com 9.7/10 from 21. In the 61 Google reviews with text, July 2013 to September 2026, 94% of those who mention the staff are positive, 91% of those who mention the location and 94% of those who mention the houses.

What recurs is the island’s privacy, the butler, the food cooked to order and the care for small children. In the Ocean Houses you hear the waves on the rocks beneath the deck; the Beach Houses open on to the sand.

What taxes and charges are added?

Google Hotels’ prices for the Maldives include taxes and fees; Tripadvisor’s do not: for 11 October 2026 it showed from $893, «taxes not included», where Google showed $1,069 with them. Naladhu’s pages read do not print their tax terms; those of its sister resort Dhigu quote rates «exclusive of taxes, service charge and green tax».

Paid on top, according to Booking.com: the speedboat and an extra bed for anyone from 12. Expedia charges early check-in and late check-out.

When can you check in, and when must you leave?

Check-in from 2pm and check-out by noon, according to the official site and Booking.com. Expedia adds that there is no front desk, the host greets you on arrival, and early check-in and late check-out depend on availability and carry a fee.

Can you surf at Naladhu?

Yes. The home page puts one of the world’s most coveted surf breaks moments from the door, and Tripadvisor’s description names the breaks of Anantara Veli nearby. Lessons and trips go through the Anantara Surf School by Tropicsurf at Dhigu, for every level, from May to September; the Surfers’ Sanctuary offer builds a stay around it.
