For a large pool villa in a quiet southern atoll, Madifushi starts at $665 for one night, 2 adults, from 12 December 2026: the lowest price any seller showed on Google. The reef is a 5–10 minute boat ride from the island, so keen snorkellers may prefer a house reef in front of the villa.

Like a regular

  1. The villa to request

I would ask for a Sunset Aqua Pool Villa: 123 m² on stilts, with a private infinity pool and a private stairway into the lagoon. 3 guests who wrote between June and August 2026 describe their overwater villa as private.

  2. The week to consider

Consider 12 to 18 December 2026: single nights for 2 adults ranged from $665 to $681 on Google, read 12 October 2026. The dearest nights shown, from 24 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, were $1,251.

  3. The transfer on top

The transfer is extra: Booking.com lists the seaplane at $500 per adult and the domestic flight with speedboat at $230, both return. The resort’s Free Return Domestic Transfers offer makes the domestic transfer free from 5 nights, on its terms.

  4. Free classes on the programme

The resort publishes a weekly programme: the one for 2–9 May 2026 lists Pilates, cooking classes and badminton as complimentary with pre-booking, while sunset group yoga costs $10 net per person.

What Madifushi is

Madifushi Private Island is an independent 5-star resort on an island of Meemu Atoll, Mulak to Maldivians, south of Malé. The official site counts 80 villas, 50 over the water and 30 on the beach, every one with a pool, plus an all-day restaurant, a steakhouse, 2 bars, round-the-clock in-villa dining, a PADI 5 Star dive centre and the Heal\Me Spa. The site does not say when it opened: the oldest Google review we collected dates from 13 March 2022, and in March 2023 a guest called it a new property.

The villas are the reason to come. The smallest measure 123 m² over the water and 144 m² on the beach, with a bathtub, a pool and, over the water, a glass floor and private steps into the lagoon; Bella Six, on the beach, runs to 443 m² over 2 floors. Guests describe a butler for every villa, housekeeping twice a day and an island that never feels full. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 cost $896 for most of October and $886 in the first half of December, taxes and fees included.

Anyone who wants a reef in front of the villa will be happier elsewhere: off the island the lagoon is shallow and sandy, and the house reef is 5 to 10 minutes away by boat. The seaplane flies only in daylight and costs $500 a person return. The site does not say what its meal plans include, and for dinner on 31 December Booking.com lists a compulsory charge of $450 a person.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

At Madifushi every villa has its own pool and its own butler: there are 80, over the water or on the beach of a quiet island in Meemu Atoll, and the smallest measure 123 m².

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Madifushi Private Island’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the quiet island, the clear water of the lagoon and the arrival by seaplane.

  2. Room

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests like the villas for their space, their privacy, the private pool, the swing and the twice-daily housekeeping.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. What recurs above all is the butler assigned to each villa, who arranges everything and is often thanked by name, along with the team at Bluefin.

The scores come from 252 Google reviews with text, left from 16 January 2023 to 2 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Kokko Learning Studio, the atoll for children

The site presents it as more than a kids' club: children learn how the islands live, from mariculture and the kitchen garden to the atoll's plants and animals, through hands-on sessions and stories. It publishes neither ages nor hours; in August 2026 a French family found it brand new.

Heal\Me Spa, the sauna and the steam room

The spa has a dry Finnish sauna, a steam room, a relaxation lounge, a shop and treatment suites for one or two, looking over the lagoon. It opens daily from 9am to 9pm, with Ayurveda, a 60-minute Shirodhara and rituals using the island's white sand and coconut.

Fahrenheit, dinner on a hot stone

The beachfront steakhouse opens for dinner only, 6pm to 10pm, and cooks meat and seafood on searing stones. On its December 2023 menu the 250 g Australian tenderloin is $125 and the 400 g T-bone $100, plus 10% service and T-GST, 17% since 1 July 2025 (MIRA, read on 15 October 2026).

Good to know before you book

  • The house reef is not in front of the villas: the experiences page puts it 5 to 10 minutes away by boat. Off the island the lagoon is shallow and sandy: anyone after coral and fish goes out by boat, on the resort’s snorkelling trips. Between October 2025 and September 2026, 4 Google reviews describe little marine life around the island; others, in the summers of 2025 and 2026, tell of fish, blacktip sharks, rays and turtles seen from the water villas and the jetty.

  • The seaplane flies only in daylight: land in Malé after 3pm or leave before 9am and you may spend a night in the city at your own cost, Booking.com warns. It costs $500 an adult return; the domestic flight to Muli with the speedboat is $230, and free from 5 nights.

  • Meal plans exist, breakfast, half board, full board and all-inclusive, but the site does not say what they cover.

  • At Christmas and New Year Booking.com lists 2 compulsory gala dinners, whatever the meal plan: $300 an adult on Christmas Eve and $450 on 31 December, half for children aged 6 to 11. The site's own festive offer, by contrast, includes one for stays of at least 5 nights.

  • Wi-Fi is free; bicycles, on the other hand, are hired by the day.

A fortnight over the water, grandparents included

In August 2026 a French family in an overwater villa watched fish, coral, blacktip sharks, rays and turtles from the jetty and made a dozen dives with the PADI centre. A shallow lagoon, live cooking stations and a brand-new kids' club; with 80 villas, the island never felt full.

The seaplane tip

In June 2026, for an anniversary in a Sunrise Aqua Pool Villa, a guest found the villa very private and cleaned twice a day, and loved the lobster dinner at Fahrenheit on the beach. The advice: land in Malé by noon, because the seaplane does not fly at night.

Half board without boredom

In September 2026, on a first trip to the Maldives, a guest on half board feared tiring of a single restaurant: Bluefin's menu changed daily and catered for their dietary needs. It rained 3 days out of 5; the snorkelling near the villa was a pleasure.

Snorkelling near the island

The beach and the buffet

In August 2026 a guest gave 3 stars: the overwater villa and its swing were lovely, but the main restaurant felt like a canteen, the barbecue seafood did not seem fresh and the main beach was full of broken shells and coral. Bicycles cost extra, too.

The buggy and the excursions

In October 2025 a guest gave 3 stars: excellent staff and housekeeping, a pool 1.2 m deep, but the buggy kept them waiting 30 minutes and some excursions were cancelled for weather. The advice: ask for a villa near the centre of the island.

Questions before you go

What people ask before booking Madifushi Private Island, with sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Madifushi Private Island?

An independent 5-star resort, the only one on its island, in Meemu Atoll. The official site’s own answers count 80 villas, 50 over the water and 30 on the beach, 5 places to eat and drink, a PADI 5 Star dive centre and a spa; Google Hotels classes it as 5-star.

It stands on Madifushi itself, in Meemu Atoll, and calls itself a 5-star luxury resort, according to its contact page and home page, read on 15 October 2026. The site does not say when it opened; the oldest Google review we collected dates from 13 March 2022.

Which villas are there and how big are they?

8 types, all with a private pool, on the villas page. On the beach: Sunrise and Sunset Serene Pool Villa, 144 m², 26 in all; Two-Bedroom Serene Pool Villa, 275 m², 3; Bella Six, 443 m² over 2 floors, one. Over the water: Sunrise and Sunset Aqua Pool Villa, 123 m², 46 in all; Tranquil Aqua Pool Villa, 284 m²; Grand Madifushi Aqua Pool Villa, 342 m², one.

The site does not print how many Tranquils there are; its total of 50 overwater villas leaves 3. For Bella Six the official pages give 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children, Booking.com up to 6 guests. The overwater villas have glass floors and private steps into the lagoon.

Where is it, and is the island quiet?

In Meemu Atoll, or Mulak, south of Malé: 78.7 miles, about 127 km, from the international airport according to Tripadvisor, and 0.8 miles in a straight line from Muli airport according to Booking.com. The resort has the island to itself, and the site offers guided trips to Muli, Mulah and Kolhufushi, inhabited islands of the atoll.

Guests describe it as quiet: in August 2026 a family never found it full despite the 80 villas. The sunset side sits closer to the shared beach, a guest wrote in June 2026, and in October 2025 another advised a villa near the centre because the buggy ran late.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?

By seaplane, about 35 minutes from Velana airport according to the About Us page, at $500 an adult and $300 for children aged 2 to 11, return; or by the Maldivian domestic flight to Muli, 35 to 45 minutes, and 20 minutes by speedboat, at $230 and $160. Those are the fares Booking.com listed on 3 October 2026; the domestic transfer is free from 5 nights, according to the site’s offers.

The seaplane flies only in daylight: arrive in Malé after 3pm or leave before 9am and you may have to sleep in the city at your own cost. Flight details are due 72 hours ahead and the domestic flight must be booked 7 days ahead; infants travel free.

Can you arrive by car or park?

No: it is an island reached only by seaplane or speedboat, with no roads or parking. On the island you walk, take a buggy or ride a bicycle; bicycles are hired by the day, guests wrote in January and August 2026, and Bella Six comes with its own 8-seat buggy.

How do you get into the sea?

From the beach villas you step straight onto the sand; from the overwater villas private steps lead into the lagoon, as the villa pages describe. The lagoon is shallow and pleasant for swimming, a family wrote in August 2026.

On the main beach the sand is coarse, with broken shells and coral, according to a guest in August 2026, and a Korean guest that month recommended reef shoes; in October 2025 another found the sand soft but only seagrass underwater.

Is there a reef you can swim to?

Not from the villa, according to the resort: the experiences page says the house reef is reached by a 5 to 10-minute boat ride, with coral, tropical fish, reef sharks, rays and turtles; snorkelling equipment is free, guided reef trips are charged.

From the overwater jetty, though, there is something to see: in August 2026 a family watched blacktip sharks, rays and turtles, and in 2025 a guest found plenty of fish among the rocks along the path to the beach villas and near Mojito. In January and September 2026, 2 others found little marine life.

What pools are there?

Every villa has its own: in the Aqua Pool Villas it is an infinity pool with a sunbed in the water, and Bella Six has 2, one for children and one for adults, as the villa pages describe. Beside the Splash Bar is the main pool, where aqua aerobics is held; a guest in 2025 described it as large, infinity-edged and facing the ocean.

The site gives no pool sizes; in October 2025 a guest found the villa pool large and 1.2 m deep.

Are the pools heated, and when are they open?

The site does not say whether they are heated or to what temperature. Booking.com lists the outdoor pool as open all year; the Splash Bar beside it opens from 9am to midnight, and the weekly programme holds aqua aerobics in the main pool at 4.30pm. The villa pools are private and always available.

Where do you eat, and until what time?

5 venues, according to the dining page. Bluefin, on the beach, with an open kitchen and Italian, Indian, Mediterranean and Asian dishes: breakfast 7am to 10.30am, lunch 12.30pm to 3pm, dinner 7pm to 10pm. Fahrenheit, the hot-stone steakhouse, dinner only, 6pm to 10pm, best booked. The Splash Bar from 9am to midnight, Mojito on the lagoon from 5pm to 11pm, and in-villa dining around the clock.

Booking.com counts 4 restaurants, leaving out in-villa dining. Guests describe Bluefin as a buffet at breakfast and dinner with a menu that changes daily. There is no underwater restaurant: no resort page mentions one.

What meal plans are there, and what do they include?

The site sold its offers with breakfast, half board, full board or all-inclusive, according to the description of its offers page read on 3 October 2026, but it does not publish what each plan includes: its own answers say only that meal plans may include all-inclusive dining. Google Hotels lists breakfast as free.

Reviews add detail: on all-inclusive in March 2026, mocktails were free at the Splash Bar, Bluefin and Mojito; in June 2025 another guest paid extra for a margarita or a Corona; in October 2025 dinner at Fahrenheit was not included. Booking.com notes that inclusions and meals depend on the rate booked.

What is the spa like?

The Heal\Me Spa has a dry Finnish sauna, a wet sauna, a steam room, a relaxation lounge, a shop with local products and treatment suites for one or two, looking over the lagoon, as the wellness page describes. It offers Ayurveda, a 60-minute Shirodhara and the Heal\Me Lonu Veli and Signature rituals, with white sand, grated coconut and sage.

No resort source gives its floor area or the number of rooms. Until recently it was the Mandara Spa: the name still appears in the weekly programme and in a review from June 2026, and in August 2026 a guest wrote of the new spa.

Is the spa included, is there a charge, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are charged: the answers on the wellness page call them optional, with spa credits in some offers only. In the May 2026 week of the programme, a couples' massage lesson was free, booked ahead.

For visitors not staying on the island the site publishes no day pass and no price: it says only that the spa welcomes resort guests, and the island is reached by seaplane or by speedboat from Muli.

What are the spa's hours?

From 9am to 9pm daily, according to the spa page. Treatments are booked ahead; the site publishes no cancellation rules, and sunset group yoga is $10 a person in the weekly programme.

Which treatments are there, and what do they cost?

Massages, Ayurvedic therapies, Shirodhara, scrubs, wraps, facials and couples' rituals, according to the answers on the wellness page; the signatures are Heal\Me Lonu Veli and Heal\Me Signature, with white sand and coconut milk. Guests mention a 60-minute Balinese massage and a 50-minute one.

The site publishes no price list: the «Download Menu» link on the spa page opens a sheet on Dhivehi Kaashi theyo, the cold-pressed coconut oil the spa sells.

Is it good for children?

Yes, within limits. The Kokko Learning Studio teaches children about the atoll's farming and sea life, but the site gives neither ages nor hours; with the Endless Privileges offer 2 children under 12 share their parents' bed and eat free. On Booking.com children from 3 pay as adults, an extra bed is $200 a night and a cot is free; there is no minimum age.

The club is recent: in September 2025 a guest wrote that there was none yet, and in August 2026 a family found it brand new. Bella Six has a children’s pool; the smaller villas sleep 2 adults.

What is there on the island besides the villas?

The PADI 5 Star dive centre, motorised and non-motorised water sports, the spa, a gym, tennis and badminton courts, the Sports Arena, the Kokko Learning Studio, the Silent DJ room with karaoke, Roanu Ge, a Maldivian house lashed together with coir rope, and a jungle cinema, according to the experiences page; the Silent DJ and the cinema are booked privately.

Wi-Fi is free. The weekly programme mixes free classes, from Japanese and Maldivian cooking to cocktails and coffee, with Pilates, CrossFit and a sunrise walk.

What offers are there?

Read on 6 October 2026 on the site’s offers page: the domestic flight free from 5 nights; Stay More, Pay Less, extra nights at a lower rate from 4 nights; Endless Privileges, with a cocktail each, a floating breakfast in the Aqua Pool Villas and 2 children free; a sunset dolphin cruise from 5 nights; 10% off with the Visa code VISAMPI and 15% for UnionPay cardholders, until 27 April 2027.

For honeymooners, Celebrate Honeymoon runs all year in every villa: a fruit basket, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling gear, a signature drink and a minibar set-up, within 6 months of the wedding, with the certificate or the invitation.

Can you get married at Madifushi Private Island?

The site publishes no wedding or vow-renewal package, and no venues or guest numbers. For newlyweds there is the Celebrate Honeymoon offer, within 6 months of the wedding, with the certificate or the invitation, on the site’s offers page; Bella Six, its own answers say, is also meant for celebrations.

Guests describe honeymoons and anniversaries with the villa decorated, a cake in February 2026 and a romantic dinner in September 2026, arranged by the butler.

Is there a New Year's Eve dinner?

Yes, with a gala-dinner supplement unless your booked offer includes it: according to Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026, the gala dinner on 31 December is $450 an adult and $225 for children aged 6 to 11, whatever the meal plan, and the Christmas Eve one $300 and $150, paid on the island.

The site’s offers propose Festive Celebrations instead: stays of at least 5 nights include a Christmas or New Year gala dinner, with the island's festivities. The site publishes no menu or programme. On Google Hotels, read on 12 October 2026, the night of 31 December cost $1,251 for 2, like every night from 24 December to 4 January.

Can you play golf?

No: no resort page mentions a course or a golf package. For sport there are tennis, badminton, the gym, the Sports Arena and water sports, from flyboarding to wakeboarding, on the experiences page.

When is it open, and what is the best season?

The consulted pages announce no seasonal closures; confirm operation for your dates. Its travel advisory calls it fully operational. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, every night from 7 October 2026 to 4 January 2027 had a price; from January, 23 of 27 nights had none, which means unknown, not closed.

The site does not describe the seasons. In September 2026 a guest had rain on 3 days out of 5, and in May 2026 another had changeable weather; boat trips are cancelled in bad weather, and the seaplane does not fly.

How much does a night cost?

On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 adults cost $1,061 on 7 October 2026, $896 on 11 October, $1,208 on 4 November, $886 on 12 December, $1,598 on 31 December and $777 on 26 January 2027, taxes and fees included.

The calendar names neither the villa nor the meal plan; Google lists breakfast as free. For 7 October the only offer on the card was the official site's. Most October nights cost $896, most November nights $1,009 and every night from 24 December to 4 January $1,598; 23 January nights had no price. The transfer from Malé is extra, except the domestic flight from 5 nights.

What do the reviews say?

On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 300 ratings, Tripadvisor 5.0/5 from 1,853, with a Travellers’ Choice award, and Booking.com 9.1/10 from 137, with 9.5 for staff and 8.2 for value. Of the 252 Google reviews with text, 94% of those discussing staff are positive, 95% on the villas, 93% on location and 81% on breakfast. Few guests write about price: some mention free activities and the service, others the paid extras.

The butler, housekeeping twice a day, the large private villas and the changing buffet recur. Off the island the lagoon is shallow and sandy, with the reef a few minutes away by boat, and in 2025 and 2026 some guests write that they saw little marine life near the island.
