I would choose Centara Ras Fushi for Thai, Italian and Middle Eastern dinners that need booking; for 9–13 May 2027, Google’s lowest seller showed single nights for 2 adults from $279. For an empty horizon, I would look further from Malé and its port.
Co-founder & CEOMarco Di CesareHe spent weeks comparing hotels and kept finding that the detail deciding the trip was missing from the hotel website. 10 years in marketing technology, 2 of them building with AI.About MarcoHow we write the guideLinkedIn
Centara Ras Fushi is chosen for convenience: 15 to 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana airport, no seaplane, then an island of 140 villas kept for adults. The 110 over the water all measure 42 m² including the deck, each with steps down into the lagoon; the 30 on the beach run to 51 m². Inside they measure 29 or 30 m², and none has a pool of its own: where the name says «Swirl Pool», there is an outdoor spa tub.
The food is the strong suit. Oceans changes its buffet every night and, on half board, full board or premium all-inclusive, dinner can also be at Suan Bua, La Brezza or Al Khaimah, a booked 3-course set menu. In the 500 most recent Google reviews, written between January and October 2026, 95% of those who mention the staff are positive. The bill grows with the extras: the speedboat, excursions, the spa outside the meal plan and the compulsory dinner on 31 December.
Then there is the view. Being close to Malé brings ships, the port and an industrial island to the horizon and, in 2026, a building site facing the island that some guests could see from their villa. Anyone dreaming of the empty atoll on the postcards has to go further out, and budget for the seaplane.
In the Lumina Guide
Lumina Guide 2027
Centara Ras Fushi puts adults on an island of 140 villas 15 to 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana, with no seaplane, 3 à la carte restaurants, 2 pools and a reef of sharks, rays and turtles.
Here: reef sharks, rays and turtles are seen by the water villas; an October 2025 guest recommends villa 329, halfway along the jetty, right above the reef.
308 of the 332 guests who write about the reef are pleased. 17 hotels of 335 hold it.
What do Centara Ras Fushi’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
Location
8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the 20-minute speedboat from the airport, with no seaplane to take, and the clear lagoon they step into from the villa to snorkel among reef sharks and turtles.
Room
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe villas with room to spare and kept spotless, steps that go straight down into the lagoon and a spa tub on the deck for sunset.
Staff and service
Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests thank by name the housekeepers who look after the villa each day and the waiters in the restaurants, and many describe a bed decorated for a birthday or a honeymoon.
Breakfast
Breakfast is the buffet at Oceans, from 7am to 10am: guests remember the omelettes and eggs cooked to order, and thank by name the chef who makes them.
Price
5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. Guests who write well of it compare the resort with others in the Maldives; the $180 speedboat per person, the excursions and the spa come on top of the rate.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 7 January 2026 to 3 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay near Malé: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
Price: for two on the night of 9 May 2027, from $279 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).
What a night costs, season by season
From May to the calendar’s end in September 2027, single nights range from $264 to $351, against $333–623 from 23 December 2026 to 30 April 2027. I would compare dates before booking: the night of 15 January 2027 rose from $382 to $593 between the readings of 4 and 12 October 2026.

Centara Ras Fushi, Machchafushi or Bandos
Choose Machchafushi if a seaplane journey is part of the holiday: its shared flight takes 25 minutes and may stop at other resorts. Bandos keeps the speedboat journey short, with a reef off the beach.
Suan Bua cooks recipes from the 4 regions of Thailand, La Brezza Italian dishes and seafood beside the infinity pool, Al Khaimah Middle Eastern grills in a tent in the garden. Oceans, the main restaurant, changes its theme every night. The 3 à la carte restaurants open from 7pm to 10pm and need booking.
9 rooms in pavilions with balconies over the ocean: 3 couples’ rooms with a spa bath, one without, 2 for Thai massage, 2 singles and one for manicures and pedicures. There is a sauna and a steam room; it opens from 9am to 9pm, and the website publishes no price list.
Every water villa has its own steps. On the house reef, guests in 2026 describe reef sharks, rays and turtles, and a current that can turn strong: in June one wrote that snorkellers are asked to wear a life jacket, in March another that borrowing a mask and fins means passing a swimming test.
Good to know before you book
Excursions and the spa are charged separately on every meal plan: premium all-inclusive carries a $50 spa credit per adult per stay and a discount on water sports and diving. Source: centarahotelsresorts.com
The speedboat is shared and waits for guests off other flights: in guests’ accounts the wait at the airport runs from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Source: 500 Google reviews read, 7 January 2026 to 3 October 2026
Malé is close, and it shows. From the villas and beaches guests describe anchored ships, the commercial port and an industrial island; the brochure itself presents the lobby bar as the place to watch the ships’ lights at night. Between February and August 2026 several guests wrote of a building site facing the island, in view from the water villas.
The shared speedboat is compulsory and paid at the resort. The Transfer page asks $180 net per person return, as Booking.com does; all 6 villa pages say $155 net per adult. The Ultimate Adults-Only Escape offer takes 40% off the transfer.
«Swirl Pool» means an outdoor spa tub, on the deck or in the villa’s garden: that is how the villa pages and the factsheet describe it. For swimming there are the 2 shared pools. The homepage speaks of a private pool and the honeymoon page names a «Beachfront Pool Villa»: the catalogue lists 6 villa types, 3 with an outdoor spa tub and none with a private pool.
The island is for adults: the brochure welcomes guests from 18, the offer terms say «above the age of 18», and Booking.com sets 18 as the minimum check-in age. The Google Hotels card, which welcomes children from 12, is wrong.
On 31 December the gala dinner is compulsory: Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026, charges $400 a person on bed and breakfast and $350 on half board, full board or all-inclusive, taxes included.
The 3 à la carte restaurants are booked through the resort’s app. Between November 2025 and May 2026, 5 Google reviews describe finding no table for some evenings or for the whole stay.

Centara Ras Fushi reviews
The platforms’ scores, read on 3 October 2026, and what guests write about the villas, the reef and the horizon.
On 3 October 2026 Google showed 4.8/5 from 4,760 ratings. There are 1,769 Google reviews with text in the collection, from 11 May 2023 to 3 October 2026; the figures by theme come from the 500 most recent, January to October 2026. They are accounts of stays we have not verified.
6 stays described on Google between January and June 2026.
Google
16 days in a beach villa
In June 2026 a pair of divers describe 16 days in a Lagoon View Beach Villa with Swirl Pool, its tub screened from view; on the water villas, they write, the tub is more exposed. The reef is beautiful but for the experienced: the current pulls towards the shipping lanes, and with the lights of Malé and the port the night is never dark.
In January 2026 a couple found the anchored tankers and the industrial skyline an interesting contrast with the island. Below the water villas they snorkelled the house reef, where with luck a shark passes under the deck, and went out to see manta rays and nurse sharks.
At the end of February 2026 newlyweds in a water villa found a building site right opposite and a reception desk of little help; only the food redeemed it. In March another honeymoon couple, happy with everything else, wrote that the works spoilt the view from the beach.
In January 2026 a Spanish couple recommend the Sunset villas, because the others get little sun, and think the deck tub worth the extra. The view is of an industrial island and passing ships; the dive centre is geared to snorkelling trips. On half board, they conclude, it is one of the best-value resorts in the Maldives.
In March 2026 a couple loved their water villa and snorkelling from the steps, but on 2 of their 3 evenings the à la carte restaurants were closed, and on the third the first free table was at 9pm. In the end the manager arranged a candlelit dinner.
Without a sunset-facing villa, one guest still watched the sun go down from her deck, among unicornfish and a passing shark. The tub became her own small pool, though in full sun from 11am with no shade; the main pool felt busy and noisy, and the distant ships were something to watch.
The questions people ask before booking Centara Ras Fushi, answered from sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.
What kind of resort is Centara Ras Fushi?
An adults-only resort of the Thai group Centara Hotels & Resorts, on its own island in North Malé Atoll: 140 villas, 30 on the beach and 110 over the water, according to the official factsheet. Google rates it 4 stars. The villa pages use the current names, Lagoon View and Overwater; the homepage and the brochure keep the older ones, Deluxe Beach Villa, Deluxe Overwater Villa and Premium Deluxe Sunset Overwater Villa. The resort shares its general manager with Machchafushi Island Resort, another Centara in the Maldives, as the signature on the 2025–26 festive brochure shows.
Which villas can you choose, and how big are they?
In North Malé Atoll, 11 km from Velana airport according to the experiences page: 15 to 20 minutes by speedboat. The website does not name the island; in June 2026 a guest called it Giraavaru, like the lobby bar. The address on the Google listing, Male North Harbour, Boduthakurufaanu Magu, is a street in Malé; the resort has an island to itself.
You can feel how close the capital is: guests write of anchored ships, the commercial port, an industrial island and Malé’s lights at night, and in 2026 of a building site facing the island. The island is small enough to walk, but anyone at the far end of a jetty walks a fair way in the sun: the buggies, guests say, are mostly for luggage and cannot be counted on to come when called.
How do you get there from Malé, and what does the speedboat cost?
By the resort’s shared speedboat, which is compulsory: outside Terminal 1 a representative waits with a sign and takes guests to Terminal 2, where the boats leave; the crossing takes 15 to 20 minutes. The Transfer page asks $180 net per person return, the same as Booking.com; all 6 villa pages say $155 net per adult, paid at the resort. A private yacht costs $2,700 return with 48 hours’ notice; arriving by your own speedboat costs $150 plus tax in docking fees.
The Ultimate Adults-Only Escape offer, valid until 30 September 2027, takes 40% off the transfer; An Adults-Only Summer Getaway, for bookings and stays by 31 October 2026, promises free transfers in its title but in its text 40% off from 4 nights and 50% from 7. The speedboat is shared and waits for guests off other flights: in guests’ reviews the wait at the airport runs from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Can you arrive by car or park?
No: it is an island, reached only by boat from the airport or Malé. The Google Hotels card lists parking as available, but no resort page mentions it; the only docking charge published is for private speedboats, $150 plus tax on the Transfer page.
How do you get into the sea?
From the water villas, down your own steps into the lagoon; from the beach villas, straight across the sand, as the villa pages describe. Guests in 2026 write of a clear, shallow lagoon under the jetties that can be choppy.
Is there a reef you can swim to?
Yes. The factsheet describes a house reef protected by coral restoration programmes, and the PADI centre runs night snorkels on the same reef. In 2026 guests describe reef sharks, rays and turtles near the water villas; in October 2025 one recommended villa 329, halfway along its jetty, right over the reef.
Outside the lagoon the current can be strong, divers who stayed in 2026 write, and it runs towards the shipping lanes: that stretch is for experienced swimmers, and snorkellers are asked to wear a life jacket. To borrow a mask and fins, other guests add, you first take a swimming test.
What are the pools like?
2 shared pools, according to the factsheet: a beachfront infinity pool with sea views and the one at Waves Pool Bar, where you order without leaving the water. The brochure places the infinity pool on the Silent Beach. No villa has a private pool: the «Swirl Pools» are outdoor spa tubs, in 3 villa types out of 6.
Are the pools heated, and when are they open?
The website gives neither heating nor temperature for the pools or the tubs. Waves Pool Bar opens from 10am to 6pm, according to the restaurants page.
Where do you eat, and until when?
At Oceans, in the middle of the island, themed buffets from 7am to 10am, noon to 2pm and 7pm to 9.30pm according to the factsheet; the restaurants page runs dinner to 10pm. By reservation, from 7pm to 10pm: Suan Bua, Thai, La Brezza, Italian with seafood, and Al Khaimah, Middle Eastern in a Bedouin tent. The Beach Club serves snacks from noon to 2pm; the bars are Viu Bar over the water, 10am to midnight, Giraavaru Lobby Bar, 10am to 11pm, and Waves Pool Bar, 10am to 6pm. In-villa dining runs 24 hours, and a candlelit or sand-sofa dinner can be booked from 6pm to 10pm.
The resort has 7 restaurants and bars: Oceans, Suan Bua, La Brezza, Al Khaimah, Viu Bar, Giraavaru Lobby Bar and Waves Pool Bar, according to the restaurants page of the official site, read on 15 October 2026. Bookings, guests say, are made in the app.
Which meal plans are there, and what do they include?
3, set out on the meal plans page and in the PDF sheet. Half Board Plus covers breakfast at Oceans and dinner, a buffet or a 3-course set menu at Suan Bua, La Brezza or Al Khaimah, with 2 drinks each, one of them alcoholic. Full Board Plus adds lunch at Oceans or the Beach Club, again with 2 drinks. Premium All-Inclusive adds drinks from 11am to 11pm, a minibar restocked daily, afternoon tea from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, canapés at Viu Bar from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, in-villa dining from 11pm to 5am, a spa credit of $50 per adult per stay and 10% off water sports and diving.
The à la carte restaurants always need a reservation. A guest in August 2026 distinguished premium all-inclusive, with every restaurant, from a simpler plan limited to Oceans.
What is the spa like?
SPA Cenvaree occupies pavilions with balconies over the ocean and draws on Ayurvedic and Thai treatments. It has 9 rooms: 3 couples’ rooms with a spa bath, one couples’ room without, 2 for Thai massage, 2 singles and one for manicures and pedicures. There is a sauna and a steam room; the brochure adds a relaxation pavilion looking on to the garden, outdoor showers in the single rooms and yoga classes. The website gives no floor area.
Is the spa included, is it extra, and can outside guests use it?
It is extra. The meal plans carry a credit: $50 per adult per stay on Premium All-Inclusive, non-refundable and not valid for the salon or retail, according to the meal plan sheet; with the Spa Credit offer, for bookings by 31 December 2026, it is $30 a person on Half Board Plus, $40 on Full Board Plus and $50 on Premium All-Inclusive. The Ultimate offer adds a second treatment free for every one paid, and booking on the website brings 15% off food and drink, spa included according to the benefits panel.
No resort page publishes a spa day pass for anyone not staying on the island. Guests do describe day visits, though: in July 2026 one wrote of a day on the island.
What are the spa’s opening hours?
From 9am to 9pm, according to the SPA Cenvaree page. The meal-plan credit has to be used by booking ahead.
Which treatments are there, and what do they cost?
The spa page lists Thai massage, couples’ treatments and programmes from a single treatment to several days, and publishes no price list. The only prices read are on the Ocean Blessings package: $130 for a 60-minute treatment for the bride and groom, $368 for the signature facial for 2.
Is it suitable for children?
No, it is an adults-only resort: the brochure welcomes guests from 18, the Ultimate offer terms say «above the age of 18», and Booking.com sets 18 as the minimum check-in age, with no cots or extra beds. The Google Hotels card, which mentions children from 12, is wrong. The villa pages offer adult families neighbouring villas.
What is on the island besides the villas?
According to the factsheet: the 2 pools, SPA Cenvaree, a fully equipped gym, the E-Zone with PlayStation, billiards and video games, a resident doctor and nurse round the clock, a lounge for arrivals and departures, laundry, free Wi-Fi and a shop. There is a PADI centre and a water sports centre; kayaks, pedalos and snorkelling gear are included, while paddleboards, the clear kayak and motorised sports are charged, and windsurfing and catamarans need a certificate. Al Khaimah, in the garden, seats up to 30 in a U-shape for a meeting. On Booking.com the Wi-Fi scores 9.5/10.
Which offers are there?
Read on 3 October 2026: Ultimate Adults-Only Escape, until 30 September 2027, with 45% off for CentaraThe1 members and 30% for others on the flexible rate, 40% off the speedboat, sparkling wine and fruit on arrival, a 3-course dinner and a second spa treatment free; An Adults-Only Summer Getaway, until 31 October 2026, with the transfer discount; Spa Credit, for stays until 30 June 2027. Members also get a group-wide 25% off for bookings until 15 October 2026. Offers cannot be combined, and rates exclude GST and the Green Tax of $12 per person.
Can you get married at Centara Ras Fushi?
Yes, in a symbolic ceremony: the package terms warn that a wedding in the Maldives is not legally binding. The weddings page offers an underwater ceremony, Ocean Blessings, the Maldivian Umuru Dhvahuge blessing and the Abadhuves Loabi Vey vow renewal, on the Silent Beachfront, the Waves Beachfront or in the Al Khaimah tent. Package prices are not published; the extras are, on the Ocean Blessings page: a beach ceremony for up to 20 guests $620 plus $25 a guest, a ceremony on a dhoni at sunset $370, a floral arch $620, photo and video $986.
You need at least 2 days on the island before the ceremony, a 25% deposit and the balance 30 days before arrival; rooms and meals are paid separately. For a honeymoon within 12 months of the wedding, booked on the website, the honeymoon page promises sparkling wine and chocolates in the villa, a decorated bed one evening and a free transfer for the bride.
Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?
Yes, and it is compulsory. Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026, charges $400 a person for the 31 December gala dinner on bed and breakfast and $350 on half board, full board or all-inclusive, taxes included. The festive season page still links the 2025–26 brochure, which described a gala on Waves Beach from 7.30pm with an underwater theme, boduberu drumming, the countdown, a fire show and a DJ, compulsory and charged as a supplement; the same brochure priced Christmas Eve dinner at $190 a person.
On 3 October 2026 the 2026–27 festive programme had not yet been published. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, the nights from 25 December to 1 January had no prices.
Can you play golf?
No: the factsheet and the brochure list no course or golf package. On the island there is a volleyball court, pétanque, badminton, table tennis and the gym.
When is it open, and when is the best time to go?
The offers cover the whole year: Ultimate Adults-Only Escape runs for stays until 30 September 2027, and the website announces no closures. Nor does it say when the resort opened. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, 107 of 117 nights between 7 October 2026 and 31 January 2027 had prices; 26 November, the nights from 25 December to 1 January and 3 January had none.
Guests describe November as the start of high season and September as low season, with better prices for the water villas; in August 2026 one advised against August itself.
How much does a night cost?
Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night: $384 on 7 October 2026, $334 on 14 October, $420 on 1 November, $471 on 1 December, $665 on 24 December, $1,407 on 2 January 2027 and $572 on 28 January. There were no prices for the nights from 25 December to 1 January.
These figures already include taxes and fees: for 7 October the official site’s rate on the same card, a Lagoon View Beach Villa King, carried a booking-link total equal to the price shown, about 27% of it tax. The calendar names no villa and no meal plan; the speedboat and the 31 December dinner are paid separately.
What do the reviews say?
On 3 October 2026 Google gave 4.8/5 from 4,760 ratings, Tripadvisor 4.7/5 from 7,077, with a Travellers’ Choice 2026 award and sixth place among 52 hotels in Malé, and Booking.com 8.9/10 from 915. In the 500 most recent Google reviews, January to October 2026, the staff and services are praised by 95% of those who mention them, the villas by 90% and the location by 78%. When they write about price, guests count what comes on top of the villa rate: the $180 speedboat per person, the excursions and the spa, which sit outside the meal plan.
Which taxes and charges are added?
The rates the website publishes exclude tax: the offer terms add GST on rooms and meals and a Green Tax of $12 per person, and the homepage notes that rates are exclusive of service charge and government tax. The speedboat is quoted net. Google Hotels’ prices for the Maldives, on the other hand, include taxes and fees. Bills are charged in US dollars; the resort also accepts euros, sterling, Australian and Singapore dollars, according to the factsheet.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out by noon, according to the villa pages; earlier or later can be requested, subject to availability and a fee, and there is luggage storage. Booking on the website brings a choice of early check-in or late check-out, when available.
