Adaaran Club Rannalhi, at the tip of South Malé Atoll: all-inclusive, 45 minutes from the airport by speedboat, with the reef a few metres off the beach.
Rannalhi suits couples and families who want an easy, sociable island on a modest budget: the staff are what guests praise first, sharks pass the bar at dusk and, from 1 to 29 May 2027, Google showed every night at $325 for 2. Anyone wanting a new room, a pool or a silent evening will be happier elsewhere.

A guest writing in April 2026 found the Ocean View rooms upstairs and the Beach View below. I would ask for a room numbered 103 to 109: in August and September 2025, 2 guests recommended those, one to families because the water there is shallower.
The weeks that cost less
In the calendar read on 12 October 2026 the lowest price, $325 a night for 2, holds every night from 1 to 29 May 2027. New Year’s Eve costs $1,792 and Christmas Eve $1,260; other nights from 21 December to 8 January, $530 to $647.
On top of the rate
The shared speedboat costs $190 per adult and $95 for a child of 2 to 11, on stays until 31 October 2027. The minibar and drinks after midnight are charged; spa, diving and water sports add 10% service and 17% GST.
Into the sea, shoes on
Since June 2025, 8 guests advise shoes for the way into the sea, over broken coral. Ask the staff where to swim out: one guest, writing in December 2025, says they reminded snorkellers every day to keep to the water-sports side, because the other drops off close to shore.
What Rannalhi is
A resort has stood on the island since 1978, the opening year in the Ministry of Tourism’s register (Tourism Yearbook); in 1996 Aitken Spence rebuilt it with 96 rooms in 2-storey blocks and named it Club Rannalhi, adding 16 water bungalows in 1998 and 16 more in 2008 (Aitken Spence). Today it is the Adaaran island on the plain all-inclusive plan, without the Premium of the other 4 (Adaaran). It covers 4.8 hectares and takes 13 minutes to walk round, measured on OpenStreetMap.
The site and the June 2026 fact sheet list 48 Classic Ocean View and 48 Classic Beach View rooms, all of 38 m² and for 3 adults at most (fact sheet); the virtual-tour page also shows the Sunset Water Villa and the Water Villa (virtual tours). On 5 October 2026 the resort’s booking engine sold the 57 m² Sunset Water Villa for 10 May 2027 but not for 11 January (official booking, January).
Meals are buffets in the Main Restaurant, open to the sea under its thatch, with themed nights from Asian to Italian (Main Restaurant); drinks are at the Nika Bar, over the water, from 10am to midnight, and at the Cocktail Bar on the west beach from 9am to midnight (all-inclusive). The Chavana Spa, 2 storeys facing the sea, has 2 double and 2 single treatment rooms (spa).
The reef slopes to 20 metres, with turtles, whitetip and nurse sharks (house reef); for a guest in April 2026 it starts almost at the beach on one side of the island and a little further out on the other (Google). The resort scores 4.7 out of 5 on Google from 5,132 reviews and 4.6 on Tripadvisor from 6,747 (Tripadvisor).
In the Lumina Guide
Lumina Guide 2027
Adaaran Club Rannalhi is a small green island at the tip of South Malé Atoll, 45 minutes by speedboat from the airport: all-inclusive, with the reef a few metres off the beach.
Among Rannalhi’s regulars, 27 of the 29 reviews name a member of staff, and 2 write of the pleasure of meeting the same one again. Then comes the sea: 7 write of the reef or the snorkelling, 3 of the dive centre. Those away longest found the island again: one guest, back after 16 years, wrote in April 2025 that the fish on the house reef were as varied as before; another, back after 10, wrote in March 2026 that it was still the island they remembered. A guest on a third stay in 4 years, writing in April 2026, noted that the rooms had been given state-of-the-art air-conditioning. And a guest on a second stay, writing in December 2025, recommends the lobster barbecue on the beach, at $75 a person.

Food and social life
One buffet restaurant with themed nights from Asian to Italian; on request, a candlelit dinner on the beach.
Wellness
A small spa and Chinese reflexology; there is no pool.
The stay as a whole
$325 to $1,792 a night for 2 on Google; direct is cheaper for May.
What makes it rare
A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.
Here: at the front desk someone speaks French and looks after guests from arrival to departure; in the restaurant you have your own waiter, who learns what you like and tops up your glass unasked.
472 of the 487 guests who write about the staff and service are pleased. 18 hotels of 335 hold it.
What do Rannalhi’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
Location
Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. The green island, the white sand and the reef a few metres off the beach, with its nurse sharks, turtles and reef fish, come up in almost every review.
Room
8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The rooms are in blocks a few steps from the beach and are made up twice a day: guests praise how clean they are and the sea in front of the Ocean View rooms.
Staff and service
Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. The staff are praised in almost every review, often by name, including by French and Italian speakers.
Breakfast
Breakfast is at the Main Restaurant buffet, from 7.30 to 9.30am, always at the same table: guests praise the variety and the waiters who look after them for the whole stay.
Price
5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. The all-inclusive plan covers 3 buffet meals, drinks until midnight and masks and fins; the speedboat, excursions, jet skis and the spa cost extra.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 17 May 2026 to 5 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

What a night costs, season by season
On 12 October 2026 Google showed every night from 1 to 29 May 2027 at $325 for 2, April at $407 to $427 and the nights from 9 January to the end of March from $558; New Year’s Eve stood at $1,792. Between 4 and 12 October the nights from 1 to 29 May went from $327 to $325, while most June and July nights rose from $357 to $382: for the low season I would take May.

Rannalhi, Fihalhohi or Embudu
Rannalhi for drinks and snacks inside every rate and a band at the bar each night; Fihalhohi, 3 km away, for the same 45-minute crossing and a rate that starts at breakfast alone; Embudu for a 20-minute crossing and bungalows without a TV, where the rate starts at half board. All 3 have a reef to swim to from the beach, and none has a pool.
A night: the lowest price Google showed in the week of 11 January 2027 for 2 adults, read on 12 October 2026. Rannalhi sells only all-inclusive; Google names no meal plan for the other 2, whose own booking engines, read on 7 October 2026, started at breakfast alone at Fihalhohi and at half board at Embudu: the 3 figures do not buy the same thing. Rannalhi’s site does not say whether its speedboat fare is one way or return.
The reef from the beach, the 2 all-inclusive bars, the themed buffets, the Chavana Spa, sunset in a dhoni, kayaks and windsurfing
Nurse sharks passing under the bar at dusk, a cocktail over the sea, a different dinner every night and an hour at sea at sunset in the price.
The house reef
It slopes to 20 metres through table and hard corals, suits beginners on their first dive course as well, and shows ghost pipefish, turtles, whitetip and nurse sharks (house reef). Masks and fins are included for the whole stay (all-inclusive). Guests in 2026 describe a reef full of fish; on the coral they disagree, damaged for some, recovering for others (Google).
The Cocktail Bar and the Nika Bar
This is where the all-inclusive drinks are poured: the Cocktail Bar faces the west beach and the sunset, from 9am to midnight, and the Nika Bar stands over the water, from 10am to midnight (Cocktail Bar, Nika Bar). The list has 20 cocktails, 7 mocktails, Lion lager on draught and house wine by the glass, one glass at a time (all-inclusive); after midnight you pay.
The Main Restaurant
It is the only restaurant, and it is always a buffet: breakfast from 7.30 to 9.30am, lunch from 12.30 to 2.30pm, dinner from 7.30 to 9.30pm, with fish from local boats and themed nights (Main Restaurant, fact sheet). Sparkling wine is poured only at lunch and dinner (all-inclusive); a guest in October 2026 paid extra for seafood (Google).
The Chavana Spa
2 storeys facing the sea, 2 double and 2 single rooms and a corner for manicures and pedicures, with ELEMIS products (spa). A 60-minute Balinese massage costs $160 and the 4-hands massage $245, plus 10% service and 17% GST (treatments); the all-inclusive plan gives a $50 credit each. At the Chinese reflexology centre a 45-minute foot treatment costs $55, taxes included (reflexology).
Sunset at sea
From 3 nights the all-inclusive plan includes an hour at sea at sunset, once a stay (all-inclusive); in reviews it is often among the best-remembered moments of the stay (Google). The romantic cruise, with a photographer and a glass of champagne, lasts an hour and a half and costs $67 a person, with 4 people at least (excursions).
Kayaks, windsurfing and paddleboards in the lagoon
Windsurfing and canoeing are included and, from 3 nights, 15 minutes of paddleboarding a day (all-inclusive). The catamaran, water skiing and jet skis are charged (fact sheet), with 10% service and 17% GST on top (water sports); a guest in October 2026 quotes nearly $300 for an hour on a jet ski (Google).

The water villas are the open question. The room pages and the June 2026 fact sheet list only the 96 Classic rooms (rooms, fact sheet); a British tour operator reports the Water Villas and Sunset Water Villas closed for renovation from 1 March 2026 until further notice (Plan My Tour). Yet on 5 October 2026 the resort’s booking engine was selling a Sunset Water Villa for May 2027 (official booking) and Booking.com listed both categories (Booking.com).
There is no pool: Google Hotels marks it as absent (Google Hotels) and guests in March and June 2026 confirm it (Google). You swim in the lagoon and on the reef.
The shared speedboat costs $190 for each adult and $95 from 2 to 11; the site does not say whether that is one way or return (transfers), while the agency Lux Atolls gives it as a return fare (Lux Atolls). Between July 2025 and May 2026, 4 Google reviews describe a rough crossing in choppy seas (Google).
New islands and a new resort are being built near Rannalhi: between August 2025 and October 2026, 7 reviews describe building sites in view or, on some days, the noise of the works (Google). Anyone who wants quiet asks for a room on the side of the island away from the works. Between August 2025 and May 2026, 3 Google reviews describe the beach eroding or the sandbags laid to hold it.
The all-inclusive plan stops each night at midnight; the minibar, drinks after midnight and anything not on the list are charged (all-inclusive, PDF). The spa, diving and water sports add 10% service and 17% GST, while the excursion prices already include them (treatments, excursions).
Check-out is at noon: with an evening flight you wait on the island for the speedboat (Google).
On the Family Getaway offer, booked on the resort’s site, one child under 12 stays and eats free (Family Getaway); Booking.com charges the adult rate from age 2, while also saying that children under 12 eat free, drinks excluded. A cot costs $6 a night according to Booking.com, while Expedia says there are none; there are no extra beds either way (Booking.com, Expedia).
The rooms are in blocks built in 1996. Between May 2025 and October 2026 more than 40 Google reviews describe rooms and bathrooms in need of renovation; many add that they are always clean.
Google reviews disagree on the coral of the house reef: between April 2025 and October 2026, 6 describe it as damaged or largely dead, and 2 from April 2026 as alive or recovering.
There is live music at the bar until midnight and the island takes day visitors. Between August 2025 and October 2026, 6 Google reviews write that the music is loud, and 3, between February and October 2026, describe the many day visitors around the bar.

The reef close to shore
A couple in September 2026 describe possibly the best snorkelling they have had: the reef close to the shore, the fish many and varied; reception, restaurant and bar sit in the middle, with the rooms round the edge.
A family with children of 10 and 3, in February 2026, looked forward every evening to the nurse sharks by the Cocktail Bar; the elder daughter made her first dive here.
In March 2026 a guest found the rooms stuck in the 1980s and the air conditioning too loud to sleep; the reef and the food redeem it, but it needs, the guest writes, a real renovation to earn its 4 stars.
In May 2026 a guest describes a rough crossing out and a return on a small boat whose side tarpaulins let the sea in: passengers and luggage soaked. One star.
In October 2026 a guest found the reef rather damaged and short of fish, the rooms old and the bar music loud until midnight, and building work on nearby islands spoiling the view and the calm.

The praise goes above all to the staff, then to the food and the reef. The reviews also come back to the room blocks from 1996, the live music at the bar until midnight, the building sites on the neighbouring islands, a crossing that can be rough and the extras outside the all-inclusive plan.
Is Adaaran Club Rannalhi open all year?
Google’s calendar, read on 12 October 2026, priced 280 of the 330 nights from 13 October 2026 to 7 September 2027, with gaps including 7–23 November, 25 November and 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 December. No official seasonal opening policy was published on the pages consulted; these gaps do not establish a closure (Google Hotels).
