Jawakara suits families who want golf, padel and clubs for children and teenagers, with the lowest seller on Google from $417 for one night for 2 adults from 1 May 2027. Anyone after a small island with a reef to swim to from the beach will be happier elsewhere.

A family running through the shallow lagoon in front of the beach
  1. The villa for a family

With children I would ask for a Mabin Three Bedroom Villa, tucked away on the beach and made for up to 4 people and 2 children, on the island that has the sports and the larger restaurants.

  2. The weeks that cost less

The calendar read on 12 October 2026 shows 7 nights at $417 each from 6 to 12 May 2027. The dearest night shown is 2 January 2027, at $3,595.

  3. Seaplane and luggage

Booking.com listed the seaplane at $460 per adult return and $220 per child aged 2 to 11, read on 4 October 2026. Above 20 kg of checked luggage each, excess costs $5 a kilo plus 17% GST.

What Jawakara is

The resort opened on 22 October 2023 (opening). Mabin is 1,400 metres long, with the sports and larger restaurants; Dheru is 450 metres long. A 650-metre bridge over the reef joins them. The original 5 April 2026 fact sheet advertises 290 villas: 202 on Mabin and 88 on Dheru. Its Dheru category counts instead total 83 (18 Beach, 30 Beach Pool, 5 Three Bedroom, 30 Water Pool). The 5-villa discrepancy is unexplained; the operating inventory is not reconciled (original fact sheet).

Most meals are buffets: Saima and Aila on Mabin, Vela on Dheru; à la carte there are Molo, Mediterranean, Umi, on the bridge, cooking Asian Pacific food, and Hideout, by the golf course (fact sheet, dining). The Premium All-Inclusive covers drinks at 3 bars from 8am to 1am, golf, snorkel gear and 2 reef trips a day (fact sheet).

Mabin has a pitch golf course, a driving range, padel, tennis and five-a-side football (fact sheet, official site), and the Sea Turtle Health Institute, the Maldives’ first centre devoted to treating turtles, set up with the Olive Ridley Project and open for 30-minute tours (STHI). The house reef is 5 minutes by boat, with free trips (reef).

Guests give it 4.6 out of 5 on Google from 372 reviews, read on 5 October 2026. It is a large resort on 2 islands, to be chosen for how much there is to do: anyone after a small island with a reef to swim to from the beach will be happier elsewhere. On the Premium All-Inclusive, private dinners, in-villa dining, excursions and motorised sports stay extra; on full board every meal is at the assigned buffet; and the à la carte restaurants and the most popular activities are best booked on arrival. The staff and the butlers, often thanked by name, are what reviews return to (Google).

The scores come from 304 Google reviews with text, left from 18 November 2023 to 5 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

  • Kuredu Island Resort
  • Siyam World
  • Hurawalhi
  • Meeru Maldives Resort Island

Price: for two on the night of 1 May 2027, from $417 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).
