Furaveri suits couples and families looking for spacious villas, with the lowest seller on Google showing nights from $332 in mid-December, for 2 adults. For a quiet holiday, I would ask for a villa away from the bar and pool.

The Beach Pool Villas from above: thatched roofs and pools among the palms
  1. The villa to request

I would ask for the Ocean Villa Infinity: 150 m² with an outdoor bathtub and a hammock suspended above the lagoon, so there is somewhere to linger outside the bedroom.

  2. The lower December nights

On Google, read 12 October 2026, nights from 15 to 19 December cost $332–$348 each for 2 adults. The highest single night shown was 5 December, at $1,926.

  3. Adding an extra bed

An extra bed costs $25 a night and must be requested; each room takes at most one. With one child and no extra-bed booking, the existing sofa becomes a sofa bed.

  4. Dinner at Olives & Vines

Olives & Vines pairs Mediterranean cooking with views over the Indian Ocean and opens at 5.30pm. I would reserve before heading over, as the restaurant requires a table booking.

What Furaveri is

Furaveri opened in January 2016 (Dreaming of Maldives): Angelfish gives 2017, but in February 2026 a guest describes the tenth-anniversary party (Google). It is Maldivian-owned and Maldivian-run (Angelfish Travel). It was called Furaveri Island Resort & Spa until January 2020, when it announced 33 new villas and today’s name (maldives.net.mv); it now has 169 villas on a natural 23-hectare island (official site). The shore runs to 1,876 metres, about 25 minutes on foot, measured on OpenStreetMap.

The resort presents itself as a 5-star resort, according to its official site, read on 15 October 2026. Villas run from the 98 m² Ocean Villa Horizon, over the water with a jacuzzi, through the 160 m² Ocean Pool Villas with their pools, to the 600 m² Velaa Residence (villas).

There are 7 restaurants: Jaafaiy’s buffet with a theme each night, Raiyvilla for Asian cooking on the western tip, Amigos for Mexican on the edge of the reef, Aqua for seafood, Ocean Spice for Indian vegetarian, Teppan De Oishi for Japanese and Olives & Vines, Mediterranean, on stilts (dining). On full board and all-inclusive you can take lunch and dinner at 4 of the à la carte restaurants instead, with a $30 credit at lunch and $40 at dinner (2026 meal plans).

It scores 4.6 out of 5 on Google from 1,085 reviews (Google); Tripadvisor gives 4.6 from 3,982 reviews and Booking.com 9.3 from 1,157, read on 5 October 2026 (Tripadvisor, Booking.com). Since October 2025 guests have praised the staff, nearly always by name, the villas, the housekeeping and the reef; evenings round the bar and the pool come with music, extras outside the plan are charged separately and there are waits for the seaplane at the terminal (Google).

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

Furaveri is a natural 23-hectare island in Raa Atoll, in the north of the Maldives: 169 spacious villas, the reef a few metres from the shore and an all-inclusive that extends to the à la carte restaurants.

How we choose the hotels

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

Raa Atoll: a 45-minute seaplane flight in daylight, or a domestic flight and a speedboat.

  2. Character

A natural 23-hectare island, Maldivian-owned, lively round the bar and the pool.

  3. Rooms

98 to 600 m², a private pool in 8 of the 12 types, and three 2-bedroom residences.

  4. Food and social life

7 restaurants and an all-inclusive plan that reaches 4 of the à la carte ones, with a credit of $30 at lunch and $40 at dinner.

  5. Wellness

The Wellness Village of timber and bamboo, with Ayurveda and yoga, open 9am to 8pm.

  6. The stay as a whole

$348 to $1,097 a night for 2 on Google; the seaplane is $425 for each adult.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Furaveri’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the beach, the green island and the reef a few metres from the shore, where you snorkel among reef sharks and turtles.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about spacious villas, kept clean every day, and single out the ones with a pool: the Beach Pool Villas on the sand and the villas over the water.

  3. Staff and service

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests thank by name the villa attendants, the host who looks after them through the stay and the restaurants’ waiters, and write about the massages at the Wellness Village.

  4. Breakfast

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is the buffet at Jaafaiy, from 7 to 10am: guests who write about it remember it as complete and varied, and some order it floating in the villa’s pool.

  5. Price

On full board and the all-inclusive plan you can also lunch and dine at 4 of the à la carte restaurants, with a credit of $30 at lunch and $40 at dinner; snorkelling gear is part of the all-inclusive.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 18 December 2021 to 4 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

Price: for two on the night of 18 December 2026, from $332 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

The lower December run is $332–$348 a night for 2 adults; from 14 April to 6 September 2027, the calendar shows $423–$574. I would start with 15–19 December if the lower room price matters most.

Separately: 28 October, $849; 29 October, $1,782; 15 November, $441; 5 December, $1,926, all in 2026. No price from 6 to 12 December 2026. On 5 October 2026, Google’s calendar showed $569 for 16 November; the resort’s own listing for 16–19 November showed $859 a night for a Beach Pool Villa with Jacuzzi, Summer Offer 26, bed and breakfast. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed on 12 October 2026 asked $688 a night; the resort’s own listing, $764.

Furaveri, Niva Dhigali or The Standard

Furaveri for an Ocean Villa Infinity with its lagoon hammock; Niva Dhigali for a pool villa on the quieter north side. The Standard suits someone who wants a shorter island circuit: its walking loop takes 15–25 minutes.

The Premium All Inclusive plan, Jaafaiy’s theme nights, the à la carte restaurants, Olives & Vines on stilts, the reef from the shore, the Wellness Village, breakfast in the pool

A plan that from 2027 keeps 2 bars open round the clock, a themed dinner every night, coral a few metres from the beach and Ayurveda in a village of timber and bamboo.

Udhares Bar in the evening, armchairs on the sand under the timber roof

The Premium All Inclusive plan

For 2026 stays it covers 3 meals; wine, beer, cocktails and spirits by the glass at Udhares Bar from 10am to midnight; afternoon tea, the minibar, snorkelling gear, a $30 spa credit and one excursion, sunset fishing or island hopping (2026 plan). From 11 January 2027 Udhares and The Groove stay open 24 hours, the excursions rise to 4 and the spa credit to $50 for each adult (2027-28 plan).

The Jaafaiy buffet, desserts and fruit on a circular counter

Jaafaiy and its theme nights

The main restaurant, beside the pool and the bar, serves buffets at breakfast, lunch and dinner: 7 to 10am, 12.30 to 2.30pm and 6.30 to 9.30pm, with no booking (Jaafaiy). The evening theme changes, from barbecue to Italian and Maldivian; the 2027-28 plan describes a 14-day cycle (2027-28 plan).

A Teppan De Oishi chef behind the flames of the griddle

The à la carte restaurants

Raiyvilla, Asian, on the western tip for the sunset; Amigos, Mexican, on the edge of the reef; Aqua for seafood on the beach; Ocean Spice, Indian vegetarian; Teppan De Oishi, the Japanese griddle with its chefs’ show, at dinner from 6.30 to 10pm (dining, Teppan De Oishi). Tables are booked 24 hours ahead (2026 meal plans).

Olives & Vines on its stilts at dusk, its white sails and the glass pavilion

Olives & Vines on stilts

The Mediterranean restaurant, open from 5.30 to 10pm, ends in the wedding pavilion, where the house reef meets the deep blue (Olives & Vines, dining). The 2026 plan leaves it out of the included restaurants, with no credit (2026 plan); under the 2027-28 plan guests on it get a $40 credit at dinner (2027-28 plan).

Coral under clear shallow water, the nose of a paddleboard and the island behind

The reef from the shore

The house reef is best reached on the northern side, from the beach or from the steps of the north-west jetty by the Ocean Villa Horizons; the channel near the water-sports centre is the best stretch, with reef sharks, turtles and eagle rays, and snorkelling gear is free for every guest (Angelfish Travel). Diving is run by Dive Club Maldives (experiences).

A shirodhara: warm oil poured on the forehead from a brass vessel

The Wellness Village

The spa is built like a village, in timber and bamboo, and opens from 9am to 8pm for Ayurveda, yoga, hydrotherapy and a beauty salon (Wellness Village). When it was unveiled in 2020 it had 4 open-air pavilions and 4 air-conditioned ones for couples’ treatments, a sauna, a steam room and a jacuzzi (maldives.net.mv).

The floating breakfast served in a pool: fruit, eggs, pastries and coffee on a tray

Breakfast in the pool

The floating breakfast comes to the villa’s pool, with 3 menus: American, Asian and gourmet (experiences). On the Summer Bliss offer, for stays until 23 December 2026, it comes free once with 5 nights or more in an Ocean Pool Villa (Summer Bliss).

The reef, even with small children

A couple back in the Maldives 10 years after their honeymoon, 7 nights with their daughter: the reef a few metres from the shore, good for snorkelling even with small children, an island you can walk round and buggies when you need them.

The price that works

On an eighth trip to the Maldives, nearly 2 weeks on the island: for this guest it is the best value found anywhere in the islands, with roomy, spotless villas, an entertainer who does everything from the evening fire show to aqua gym and a kids’ club the children adored.

The restaurants and their prices

A lovely island and friendly staff, but cooking that often misses and costs a lot: AUD 45 for an ordinary burger, proteins overcooked, an AUD 190 seafood platter at Aqua that disappointed; the Asian and Indian menus did better, and the frozen margaritas were good.

Questions before you go

Among the dates read, the lowest was 16 December at $348 and the highest 11 February 2027 at $1,097; after 30 August 2027 Google showed no prices. A calendar night names neither the villa nor the meals.

For 16 to 19 November the official site asked, under its Summer Offer 26, $859 a night for a Beach Pool Villa with Jacuzzi with breakfast, $1,202 on half board and $1,335 all-inclusive; Booking.com started at $847 and Hotels.com at $905 for an Ocean Villa Horizon (Google Hotels). The transfer is extra: $425 for each adult by seaplane (Booking.com).

Furaveri Maldives all-inclusive: what is included?

The 2026 Premium All Inclusive plan covers the breakfast buffet; lunch and dinner at Jaafaiy or, at Raiyvilla, Amigos, Ocean Spice and Aqua, a 3-course set menu or a credit of $30 at lunch and $40 at dinner; wine, beer, cocktails and spirits by the glass from 10am to midnight, afternoon tea, a minibar restocked daily, a $30 spa credit, the gym, tennis, kayaks and paddleboards, and one excursion (2026 meal plans). Olives & Vines and Teppan De Oishi are left out.

For stays from 11 January 2027 to 10 January 2028 the plan changes: Udhares and The Groove open 24 hours, the new Lebanese restaurant Laylouna joins the included dinners, more than 66 wines by the glass, 4 excursions, a $50 spa credit for each adult, an hour of hydrotherapy for each villa and a butler around the clock; Amigos drops out and becomes a credit, like Olives & Vines and Teppan De Oishi (2027-28 plan). Booked on the resort’s site after 1 July 2026, with 5 nights or more it adds a free seaplane for 2 (offer).

In August 2026 a couple found it a few metres from the shore, fine for snorkelling even with small children, and in October 2025 another guest calls it wonderful, full of fish and coral (Google). Snorkelling gear is part of the all-inclusive plan (2026 meal plans) and, according to Angelfish, free for every guest.

Which villa should you choose at Furaveri?

As a couple over the water, the 150 m² Ocean Villa Infinity with its hammock and open-air bathtub, or one of the 160 m² Ocean Pool Villas with a pool, facing sunrise or sunset; the 98 m² Ocean Villa Horizon is the smallest but has a jacuzzi and sits on the north-west jetty, with steps down to the reef (villas, Angelfish Travel). On the beach, the 155 m² Beach Pool Villa; for seclusion, the Island Pool Villa behind its high walls. The Garden Villa and Beach Villa have neither a pool nor a jacuzzi; Ocean Villa Infinity also has a regular outdoor bathtub. A guest on an eighth Maldives trip, in March 2026, recommends Beach Villas 110 to 118 and the Beach Pool Villas in the 400 and 500 series, which keep a wide beach in front even at high tide, and advises against the south side, where the seaplanes land and there are artificial rocks (Google).

Is Furaveri good for children? Is there a kids’ club?

Yes. The kids’ club runs a programme every day for ages 4 to 11 (FAQ); the 2027-28 all-inclusive plan opens it from age 2 (2027-28 plan). There is a separate children’s pool (Angelfish Travel), babysitting is charged and an extra bed costs $25 a night (FAQ); the first 2 children under 15 eat free from the children’s menu (2026 meal plans). In March 2026 a family with children of 9 and 4 says the children begged to go to the kids’ club every day (Google).

The Wellness Village, open from 9am to 8pm, is built like a village of timber and bamboo, with Ayurveda, yoga, hydrotherapy and a beauty salon (Wellness Village). Treatment prices do not appear on the site’s pages, and no day pass for visitors is listed.

What happens at Christmas and New Year?

How many stars does Furaveri Maldives have?

Can you get married at Furaveri?

The resort offers vow renewals on the beach (experiences) and has a wedding pavilion at the end of Olives & Vines, on stilts where the reef meets the deep blue (Olives & Vines). On Google 80% of ratings are 5 stars (Google Hotels), and ratings in the 6 months to 3 October 2026 average 4.79 from 95, against 4.52 in the 6 months before. The praise goes to the staff, nearly always named, the villas, the housekeeping and the reef. Evenings round the bar and the pool come with music, extras outside the plan are charged separately and there are waits for the seaplane at the terminal; in 2025 several reviews describe requests the villa’s assigned host left unanswered and slow service in the restaurants (Google, Tripadvisor).

What is the pool like at Furaveri?

The main pool is in the Jaafaiy and Udhares Bar area, with a separate children’s pool (Angelfish Travel). 8 of the 12 categories have private pools: Island Pool, Beach Pool, Beach Pool with Jacuzzi, Sunrise and Sunset Ocean Pool, and the three 2-bedroom residences.
