Meedhupparu suits couples and families seeking a leafy island: Google’s cheapest seller showed December 2026 nights from $471 for 2 adults, searched separately. For contemporary designer villas, I would choose elsewhere.

A water-villa deck: the daybed, rolled towels and the ocean
  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for the Deluxe Beach Villa: 51 m² with an outdoor shower and 2 private sunbeds, the category 2 guests choose or recommend in reviews written in January 2025 and August 2024.

  2. The week to price first

Price 1–7 December 2026 first: Google showed $471 for each separately searched night for 2 adults on 12 October 2026. The highest single nights were 12 and 14 April 2027, at $2,106.

  3. The fishing trip costs extra

Sunset fishing costs $55 per person, plus 10% service and 17% GST, with at least 4 participants. The dhoni trip runs from 6pm to 8pm on a traditional Maldivian boat.

  4. A drink after midnight

I would choose Café Mass for a drink at the bar after midnight: it stays open 24 hours, while the snack service finishes at 10pm.

What Meedhupparu is

On the map the island measures 17.6 hectares and 1.7 km of shore, about 23 minutes on foot (OpenStreetMap); the resort describes it in the shade of banyan trees (official site). It belongs to Adaaran, the Aitken Spence brand, whose terms govern the offers (terms); Booking.com and Expedia list its Green Globe certification (Expedia).

The 221 villas come in 10 types: 74 Beach Villas, 64 Deluxe Beach Villas, 24 Sunset Deluxe on the sunset side, 10 with a Jacuzzi, 27 for families, the Honeymoon Suite, the Residence with its pool and 20 adults-only Prestige Water Villas over the water (villas). They run from 51 to 158 m².

Meals are at the Jaafaiy, an international buffet with a theme each night, the Sufura, Indian, and the Thavaa, Mediterranean and à la carte; the Café Mass serves snacks from 10am to 10pm and its bar stays open round the clock (Premium All-Inclusive). Water-villa guests have their own Water Villa Restaurant, from breakfast to dinner (Water Villa Restaurant).

It scores 4.8 out of 5 on Google from 1,729 reviews, 4.6 on Tripadvisor from 6,111 (Tripadvisor) and 8.9 on Booking.com from 130 (Booking.com), read on 5 October 2026.

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

On Meedhupparu, a green island in Raa Atoll, the reef is a swim from the beach and the all-inclusive keeps one bar open round the clock: 221 villas, 5 bars and a themed buffet every evening.

How we choose the hotels

Those who come back

Among Meedhupparu’s regulars, a guest writing in February 2025 says they were given the previous year’s bungalow again. A guest writing in January 2025, after 2 stays, calls their chosen Deluxe Beach Villa perfect. Another guest, also writing in January 2025, describes family and couple stays, and praises the Christmas events. A guest on a fourth stay, writing in January 2026, describes a peaceful island and a helpful dive school and water sports centre.

  • 23 of the 1,231 reviews with text state a repeat stay
  • From a second stay to a fourth
  • The same bungalow the following year

Counted only quoted reviews that establish repeat accommodation at Meedhupparu; island visits and future returns alone are excluded.

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

  • Reef at the door

Here: the reef starts 30 to 50 metres from the shore and slopes gently down to 30 metres; the south side is the one for snorkelling.

312 of the 337 guests who write about the reef are pleased. 17 hotels of 335 hold it.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Meedhupparu’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about a green island, the white sand in front of the villas and the reef a swim from the beach, with small reef sharks, rays and turtles.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write of clean villas, serviced twice a day, with comfortable beds, an outdoor shower and the sand a step from the door.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The staff are the most frequent praise: guests thank the Albino Bar’s bartenders and the waiters at Sufura, the Indian restaurant, by name, and remember the dive centre.

  4. Breakfast

Guests like the choice at the buffet, and several recommend breakfast at Sufura, the Indian restaurant, where it is quieter.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. The plan includes a $50 spa credit and, depending on the number of nights, the sunset cruise and the dolphin trip; the seaplane and excursions are charged separately.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 12 July 2024 to 4 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

Price: for two on the night of 1 December 2026, from $471 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

Google’s 12 October 2026 reading puts December nights from $471 and 3–22 May 2027 at $1,909–$1,912 for 2 adults. I would compare December with late May onwards, then check the price for the complete stay.

The calendar ends on 5 September 2027. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed on 12 October 2026 asked $490 a night.

Meedhupparu, Hudhuranfushi or Dreamland

The Sufura cooks Indian food in front of its guests, a different region each night (Sufura); the Thavaa is Mediterranean and à la carte, at lunch and dinner (Thavaa).

5 bars, one always open

The Albino Bar, on the beach from 9am to midnight, has 101 cocktails (Albino Bar); the Café Mass bar is open round the clock, and is the only one where drinks after midnight are free. At the Halaboli there is a show every evening: fire, karaoke, films, Balinese dance (Premium All-Inclusive).

The observed maximum was $2,053 from 6 to 30 April; prices are missing from 28 May to 2 June and from 1 August 2027. The minimum and maximum refer to dates with a price in the calendar read on 5 October 2026, rather than a full year.

The calendar gives the hotel’s lowest price, taxes and fees included. For 16 to 19 November the card’s offers ran from $530 to $632 a night; Agoda asked $610 for a Deluxe Jacuzzi Beach Villa, taxes and fees included, for the 3-night stay; for a water villa with a Jacuzzi it asked $978 (Google Hotels). The resort’s own site was not among the offers; on the site the Early Bird takes up to 40% off, but it is non-refundable (Early Bird).

The green tax listed as extra in the direct offer of at least 30 nights, booked and taken by 31 October 2026, concerns only that rate. The Google totals quoted here already include taxes and fees; it is not added again. For Early Bird: book direct before 31 October 2027 for stays through 31 October 2027, subject to availability; request the offer when booking, and it cannot be combined with other offers.

The transfer page defines children as 2–11.99 years and adults as 12 and above; it does not specify whether the amounts cover a return trip or include taxes. The total depends on the items included in your offer (transfer terms).

Mandara instead describes 4 double rooms, 2 single rooms and a manicure and relaxation area. The spa is open from 9am to 9pm, according to the resort’s official welcome guide, read on 15 October 2026; the 10am–9pm on the spa operator’s page dates from its last update in February 2023. The current count is the resort’s: 3 doubles, one with a Jacuzzi, and 4 singles (spa, read on 15 October 2026).

Is the spa included?

The plan includes the sauna and steam room and a $50 spa credit (Premium All-Inclusive); treatments are charged. Google’s calendar read on 5 October 2026 showed prices in every month from November 2026 to July 2027, with gaps including 28 May–2 June and no prices from August 2027 (Google Hotels). Around mid-May the southwest monsoon brings more rain and wind (island calendar).

This documents availability in the observed period, rather than a full year of opening. A missing calendar price does not prove a closure.

Which excursions are there and what do they cost?

Included on the plan, depending on the nights, the sunset cruise and the dolphin trip (Premium All-Inclusive). Charged, plus a 10% service charge and 17% GST: sunrise fishing $70 a person, sunset fishing $55, fishing with dinner aboard $85, the sandbank picnic $90, the Meedhoo tour $70; the private sandbank $255 a couple, on Fridays, and the desert island of Lovers Paradise $305 a couple (excursions).
