Hard Rock suits families who want children’s clubs and a pool with a waterslide, with one night taken alone for 2 adults from $316 in May 2027, the lowest any seller showed on Google. For a holiday built around quiet evenings, I would choose another island.

Like a regular

The hotel beach and a long footbridge across the lagoon towards the other CROSSROADS islands
  1. Space for the family

For family space, I would ask for the 107 m² Silver Family Suite: the king bed and sofa bed are downstairs, with the children’s bunk bed above, openly linked by a staircase.

  2. May at its lowest

Read on 12 October 2026, the nights of 7–13 May 2027 showed $316 for one night taken alone for 2 adults; the dearest night shown was 13 October 2026 at $1,121.

  3. Book the babysitter ahead

Babysitting from 7 months costs $30 per child per hour, plus 10% service and the prevailing TGST; book before arrival, subject to availability, and keep the hours together because they cannot be split.

  4. Music in your room

In the Silver Beach Studio, ask for Sound of Your Stay: a Fender guitar or records for the evening turns the room into part of the holiday, too.

What Hard Rock is

Hard Rock International and S Hotels & Resorts opened it on 1 September 2019 in Emboodhoo Lagoon, the brand’s first hotel in the Maldives (S Hotels & Resorts). It sits within CROSSROADS, which the resort calls the Maldives’ first multi-island destination: a 500-metre footbridge leads to The Marina, with its shops and restaurants (area guide), and from there guests cycle on to SAii Lagoon, the development’s other resort (Google). The island covers 7.9 hectares and its shoreline takes about 18 minutes to walk, measured on OpenStreetMap.

The 178 rooms (official site) run from the 46 m² Silver studios, on the ground floor or upstairs, to beach villas of 65 and 90 m², overwater villas of 75 and 76 m² and 2-storey family suites of 107 and 120 m² with bunk beds; the largest is the Rock Star villa, 445 m² over the water with 2 bedrooms and a jukebox (rooms and villas). Wi-Fi is free in every room (rooms), and a turntable or a Fender guitar comes to the door on request (amenities).

On the island you eat at Sessions, the open kitchen that serves the breakfast buffet, at The Elephant and The Butterfly, Mexican and Latin American on the beach, and at the Pool Bar; the Hard Rock Cafe stands at The Marina (dining). The meal plans widen the circle: the site speaks of 14 restaurants, while the plan table names 13 across the hotel, SAii Lagoon and The Marina (meal plans).

It scores 4.7 out of 5 on Google from 1,815 reviews, 4.9 on Tripadvisor from 3,703 and 9.1 out of 10 on Booking.com from 1,416, read on 5 October 2026 (Tripadvisor, Booking.com). Among the Google reviews that say who the guest travelled with, 124 of 162 come from families (Google).

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

20 minutes by speedboat from Malé, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives is chosen above all by families: beach and overwater villas, clubs for children and teenagers and a footbridge to the restaurants of The Marina.

How we choose the hotels

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

20 minutes from Malé, within a 3-island development; the city is in view.

  2. Character

The music brand everywhere, from guitars in the rooms to a bar with speakers under water.

  3. Rooms

46 to 445 m², bold colours; from the Silver studios to the overwater Rock Star villa, with 2 bedrooms and a jukebox.

  4. Food and social life

2 restaurants on the island and more across the bridges; on Google nearly everyone who mentions the food likes it.

  5. Wellness

The Rock Spa has 4 rooms on the beach; an oceanfront gym open 24 hours.

  6. The stay as a whole

$322 to $709 for one night taken alone for 2 on Google.

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

What the badges are

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Hard Rock’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write of the short speedboat ride from the airport, the beach, the sunsets and the bridge that leads to the restaurants of The Marina.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Spacious, clean villas, serviced twice a day: guests write of the direct access to the lagoon from the overwater ones and of the private pools.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests thank the staff by name, from the waiters at Sessions to the chefs, and write of the Roxity Kids Club and the free bicycles.

  4. Breakfast

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is a buffet at Sessions, with its open kitchen: guests write of the wide choice and of the waiters, whom they remember by name.

  5. Price

Guests content with the bill set it beside other overwater villas in the Maldives and recommend a meal plan, which is also valid at the restaurants of SAii Lagoon and The Marina.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 13 November 2025 to 5 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

  • SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton
  • Kandima
  • Niva Velassaru Maldives
  • Niva Kurumba Maldives

Price: for two on the night of 3 May 2027, from $316 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

Good to know before you book

  • The Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve gala dinners are optional: $115.83 per adult on a meal plan, $231.66 on bed and breakfast, free up to 11, tax and service included (policies). On 31 December the dinner in the all-inclusive plan does not apply (all-inclusive).
