Bunk beds make this a practical family stay; on Google, the lowest seller showed one night for 2 adults from $388. For a holiday centred on a reef straight off the beach, I would choose elsewhere.

The white beach from above, the row of beachfront rooms on the sand and the shallow water
  1. The room to ask for

For families I would ask for the Mirage Beachfront Room: 49 m², with a terrace, bunk beds and an outdoor bathtub, and space for 2 adults and 2 children.

  2. The week that costs less

For 2–8 November 2026, nights searched separately ranged from $388 to $406 in the reading of 12 October 2026; the highest single night shown was 31 December, at $2,413.

  3. Add the shared speedboat

Budget for the compulsory speedboat transfer: shared return fares are $270.27 per adult and $135.14 per child, with the 10% service charge and 17% GST already included.

  4. What All Inclusive leaves out

With All Inclusive, plan around 1 minibar refill a day; in-villa dining and premium wines and spirits are outside the plan, so I would budget separately for them.

What Centara Mirage is

Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives opened on 13 November 2024, Centara’s third resort in the Maldives and the fourth under Mirage, its family brand (Travel Trade Maldives); Centara Grand Lagoon joined it in April 2025 (Centara). Together they make up The Atollia: 2 resorts on reclaimed land in one lagoon, joined by a bridge (Travel + Leisure Asia, Condé Nast Traveller Middle East). Mirage has the underwater-world theme and is built for families; the Grand is the polished, quiet one (The Atollia).

The 145 rooms and villas (official site) run from the 45 m² rooms for 2 adults to the 79.4 m² Mirage Overwater Pool Villas, the only ones with a pool; the categories named Mirage have bunk beds for 2 children, and two 4-bedroom houses of 180 and 196 m² sleep up to 8 adults (rooms and villas).

The heart of the place is the water complex: the main pool, the children’s pool, the slides and what the resort calls the first lazy river in the Maldives, all watched by lifeguards (lazy river). There is a supervised Kids’ Club, an E-Zone for teenagers and the Candy Spa for younger children (children, Candy Spa).

Meals are at The Sailhouse, a buffet, at Acqua, Italian with a pizza oven, and at Suan Bua, Thai; the bars are the Rum Bar on the beach and the Dolphin Bar by the pool (dining). It scores 4.8 out of 5 on Google from 665 reviews and 4.9 on Tripadvisor from 1,037 (Tripadvisor).

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

Centara Mirage Lagoon is the family resort in North Malé Atoll built round a water park, with slides, a lazy river and a Kids’ Club, and a bridge links it to its sister, Centara Grand Lagoon.

How we choose the hotels

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

North Malé: 30 to 45 minutes by speedboat; the resort’s reef is well away from the beach.

  2. Character

New, bright and underwater-themed, on reclaimed land whose planting is still young.

  3. Rooms

Rooms and villas of 45 to 79.4 m², houses of 180 and 196 m²; pools in 2 categories.

  4. Food and social life

3 restaurants and 2 bars; more across the bridge, at Centara Grand Lagoon.

  5. Wellness

Spa Cenvaree and a Candy Spa for children; hours and prices unpublished.

  6. The stay as a whole

From $373 a night for 2 on Google, under half the Grand Lagoon’s rate.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Centara Mirage’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the new island, the beach, the short speedboat ride from Malé and the small sharks and rays that glide through the lagoon below the villas.

  2. Room

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Rooms and villas are new: guests write about how clean they are and, families especially, about the children’s room with bunk beds.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The staff are what guests write about most, often by name: the room attendants, the chefs at the Sailhouse buffet, the Kids’ Club team.

  4. Breakfast

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is the Sailhouse buffet: guests write about the variety, from Thai and Indian dishes to Western ones, and the chef who does the rounds of the tables every morning.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. On an Atollia plan you can also dine at Centara Grand Lagoon, across the bridge; the speedboat from Malé and excursions are charged on top.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 7 September 2025 to 5 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

Octosplash and the slides

The water complex has a main pool, a children’s pool and a water playground with several slides, watched by lifeguards (lazy river); the festive programme calls it Octosplash, and a pink octopus stands at its centre (festive programme). In August 2026 one family saw the lifeguards jump in more than once to help a child (Google).

Good to know before you book

  • The resort does not publish the speedboat’s journey time: Virgin Atlantic Holidays says 40 minutes, Travel + Leisure Asia 45, guests in 2026 between 30 and 40. Source: 500 Google reviews read, 7 September 2025 to 5 October 2026

  • The speedboat is compulsory for everyone: shared, return, $270.27 per adult and $135.14 per child, service and GST included; private, $804.40 each way for a boat of up to 10 (transfer). Booking.com gives $105 per child instead, and $1,608.80 each way for the private boat (Booking.com). The free transfer for 2 adults on stays of 4 nights or more covered stays until 15 October 2026 (offer).

  • The resort does not publish a journey time; it puts the airport 24.12 km away (experiences). Virgin Atlantic Holidays says 40 minutes, Travel + Leisure Asia 45, guests in 2026 between 30 and 40 (Virgin Atlantic Holidays, Travel + Leisure Asia, Google). The shared boat waits at the airport for its other passengers: in April 2025 and August 2026 guests wrote of waits of over 1 hour (Google).

  • The resort lists its house reef 1.27 km away and boat snorkelling 2.33 km away (experiences). On the lagoon the reviews differ: between April 2025 and August 2026 a dozen describe coral, rays and small sharks, above all on the water villas’ side; between January 2025 and September 2026, 7 write that from the shore there is little coral and few fish (Google).

  • You get about by electric buggy, called on request: in April, August and October 2026 guests wrote of waits of 15 to 20 minutes (Google).

  • The Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve gala dinners are compulsory and charged on top: on bed and breakfast, $280 per adult and $100 per child on the 24th, $510 and $160 on the 31st (Booking.com). The 2025–26 programme closed every other restaurant on those evenings (2025-26 festive programme).

  • Google’s prices include taxes and fees: do not add green tax a second time (Google Hotels). Net rates on the official site exclude service charge and tax (official site); Booking.com lists a $12 green tax per person per day collected at the resort, so check the final total for a direct quotation (Booking.com).

  • The island is man-made and recent, and its planting is still young: in March 2025 Travel + Leisure Asia noted stretches without plants; between October 2025 and September 2026, 3 Google reviews say shade and greenery are still scarce, and one from August 2026 finds the planting already lovely (Travel + Leisure Asia, Google).
