For Turkish coffee and time in the hammam, Ayada has nights from $392 for 2 adults, the lowest single-night price any seller showed on Google. For a short escape, I would choose somewhere reached without a domestic flight and speedboat.

Ocean Breeze’s deck at sunset, a sail on a golden sea
  1. Room for the sunset

I would ask for the 172 m² Sunset Ocean Suite: a separate living area with a glass floor panel, plus a large terrace with a private pool and 3 hammocks.

  2. The May to July run

On Google’s calendar read on 12 October 2026, each night from 1 May to 31 July 2027 was $392 for 2 adults, searched separately; the dearest night, 6 September 2027, was $1,421.

  3. Allow for the transfer

Booking.com listed a domestic return transfer charge of $500 per adult aged 12 and over on 4 October 2026, payable in addition to the room rate.

  4. Claim within a day

What Ayada is

Ayada Maldives opened on 30 October 2011 (Dreaming of Maldives) on Maguhdhuvaa island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, the first Maldives resort of Turkey’s Aydeniz group (official site): hence the hammam, the Ottoman Lounge and coffee served the Turkish way. The island covers 13 hectares and takes 21 minutes to walk round, measured on OpenStreetMap; guests who book on the site have bicycles for the whole stay (direct booking).

Rooms start at the 101 m² Garden Villa, the only one without a pool, and the 103 m² Beach Villa; over the water the Ocean Villa has 108 m², the Sunset Ocean Suites 172 and the Royal Ocean Suite, on 2 floors at the end of the jetty, 318 (villas and suites).

There are 8 places to eat and drink: Magu’s buffet for breakfast and dinner, with a different theme each night, Ocean Breeze over the water, Kai for Asian cooking, Mizu for teppanyaki, Zero Degree by the pool, Sea Salt’s barbecue on the beach, the Ottoman Lounge and Ile de Joie, a wine and cheese bar on the lagoon (dining). The AySpa covers 3,500 m², with 8 treatment villas and a hammam (spa).

The resort calls its reef one of the best in the country (excursions); a guest in April 2026 found it 50 metres off the beach, and others describe swimming out to it from the shore (Google). It scores 4.8 out of 5 on Google from 626 reviews and 5 on Tripadvisor from 9,159 (Tripadvisor).

In the Lumina Guide

Lumina Guide 2027

Ayada is a large, well-kept resort in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, in the far south of the Maldives: pool villas on the beach and over the water, a reef round the island and surf a boat ride away.

How we choose the hotels

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

Gaafu Dhaalu: a domestic flight and a speedboat, for a reef and waves with few people on them.

  2. Character

A large green island since 2011, with a Turkish accent in the hammam and the Ottoman Lounge.

  3. Rooms

101 to 318 m², a pool in all but one.

  4. Food and social life

8 venues, from Magu to Ile de Joie; a themed buffet every night and a teppanyaki.

  5. Wellness

A 3,500 m² AySpa with a hammam and separate saunas; a gym open until 11pm.

  6. The stay as a whole

$392 to $435 a night for 2 on Google; transfer $500 per adult.

What makes it rare

A badge is an experience travellers look for, that is really here and that few hotels in the guide have.

  • Up for breakfast

Here: a buffet at Magu, with dishes cooked separately for special diets; some order it floating, in the pool.

29 of the 30 guests who write about breakfast are pleased. 15 hotels of 335 hold it.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Ayada’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests write about the big green island, which they cycle round, the white beach and the house reef, a swim from the shore.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe large, clean villas, nearly all with a private pool; over the water, the Ocean Villas have a hammock above the lagoon and a ladder into the sea.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The butlers and staff are named in a great many reviews: guests remember the welcome at the airport and on the jetty, the snorkelling guides and the surf instructors.

  4. Breakfast

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Breakfast is the buffet at Magu, from 7 to 10.30am, outside under the palms or in the air-conditioned pavilion.

  5. Price

5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. All-inclusive is a supplement, in 2 plans, Crystal and Diamond; the transfer, excursions and water sports are charged on top, and guests who book on the site have bicycles for the whole stay.

Where Ayada leads

  • Room

On the room it shares first place with The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah among the 5 hotels compared in the Maldives.

  • Breakfast

On breakfast it comes ahead of the 4 other hotels it is compared with in the Maldives.

The scores come from 391 Google reviews with text, left from 4 March 2013 to 27 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

  • The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah
  • Pullman Maldives Maamutaa
  • Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa
  • Robinson Maldives

Price: for two on the night of 1 May 2027, from $392 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

Google’s lowest seller prices for one night for 2 adults ran from $392 in May to July 2027 to $867–$1,127 over 24 December 2026 to 5 January 2027. I would compare late-August dates again: 27 August 2027 fell from $1,524 on 4 October to $435 on 12 October 2026.

Lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night searched alone, for 2 adults; no villa or meal plan specified. Read on 12 October 2026; the calendar stops at 7 September 2027. Booked as 7 nights from 16 November 2026, the lowest seller Google listed that day asked $545 a night.

Ayada, Havodda or Mercure Kooddoo

NH Collection Havodda is an alternative via Kaadedhdhoo, followed by a boat ride the resort puts at 15 minutes. Mercure Kooddoo suits a trip with the last leg on land: from the airport, a 5-minute buggy ride takes you to the villa.
