  1. The villa to ask for

For 2 adults I would ask for the One Bedroom Grand Lagoon Villa with Pool: 369 m², against 351 m² for the Water Villa, with a sunken outdoor lounge beside the private pool and a lagoon view.

  2. The weeks that cost less

In the calendar read on 12 October 2026 the lowest run of nights taken alone is 11 to 17 May 2027, from $1,185 to $1,293 each. The dearest, one night taken alone, is 9 January 2027, at $3,774.

  3. On top of the rate

Booking.com lists the shared speedboat at $650 per adult and $325 per child up to 11, return. For a stay over 31 December 2026 it adds a compulsory gala dinner, $1,150 per adult and $575 per child, not included in the rate.

  4. The spa during the works

Talise Spa is open daily from 9am to 8pm and, while the works go on, treatments are offered from a 2-bedroom beach residence, with a sauna room and couples massage.

What Jumeirah Olhahali is

The resort opened in February 2019 as LUX* North Malé Atoll (Luxnomade) and has been a Jumeirah since October 2021, the group’s only resort in the Maldives (Condé Nast Traveller). There are 67 villas, on the beach and over the water, according to Condé Nast Traveller and Tripadvisor (Tripadvisor); the official site gives no total and lists 10 categories, from 351 to 997 m² (villas). The island has about 1.5 km of shoreline and takes 20 minutes to walk round, measured on the OpenStreetMap outline.

The one-bedroom villas measure 351 m², the Grand Lagoon 369, all with a private pool, a separate living room and a sunken outdoor lounge (Water Villa, Grand Lagoon Villa). The 2-bedroom residences reach 680 m², the beach ones with a 14.3-metre infinity pool; the 3-bedroom retreats 970 and 997 m², the beach one with a gym, sauna and steam room, the water one with a yacht mooring (Sunrise Beach Residence, Beach Retreat, Water Retreat).

Dinner is at Kayto, Nikkei cooking between Japan and Peru, from 6.30 to 10pm (Kayto); Shimmers, on the beach, serves Greek and Mediterranean food from 10am to 10pm (Shimmers). While the works go on, Glow, the pool restaurant, serves breakfast and lunch at Shimmers and dinner at Kayto (Glow), and Talise Spa operates from a 2-bedroom beach residence (Talise Spa).

The scores come from 139 Google reviews with text, left from 18 October 2021 to 13 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

Price: for two on the night of 11 May 2027, from $1,185 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

The rooftop at sunset

The favourite spot was the rooftop terrace in the afternoon, facing the sea and the sunset; the Japanese and Mediterranean dishes were excellent. The sea is clear and calm, but anyone who puts snorkelling first will find more at other resorts.

During the works

A family in a 350 m² water villa: 23 villas open, 27 to 30 guests, some building noise. Everything à la carte and the food praised; the reef near the shore is modest and the diving disappointing.

The kids’ club and the adult programme are full every day, and the food is exceptional even on half board; the diving is another matter, with North Malé’s reefs badly degraded.
