I would stay at the Belvédère when I want to get around Davos on foot: the door opens onto the Promenade, among shops, restaurants and museums. Several guests find the rooms a little dated: anyone after new interiors should look elsewhere.

What the Belvédère is

The Belvédère is a 5-star hotel in Davos Platz with 96 rooms and 30 suites, a spa with a pool, and restaurants ranging from Graubünden specialities to French cooking. It has been one of the World Economic Forum’s hotspots since 1971: in January 2017 the pool was drained so that the spa could serve as a meeting room. Around it lies Davos, which at 1,560 metres is the highest town in the Alps.123

How we choose the hotels

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel Belvédère’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. One guest reaches much of Davos on foot. Another counts 4 or 5 bus stops to the Parsenn lift.

  2. Room

6 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. One guest finds the Superior roomy, with a bath, a shower and a separate WC. Another lands in a very tight room, where the bathroom can only be entered sideways.

  3. Staff and service

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. One guest says the front desk booked dinners in town and arranged transport. Another, in the bar for a coffee, has still not been served after a quarter of an hour and leaves.

  4. Breakfast

One guest calls breakfast excellent. Another would like a more carefully laid buffet, and praises the dinner instead.

  5. Price

One guest finds the price almost good value for the quality. Another, paying around €700 a night for a Junior Suite, expected more comfortable beds and pillows.

81 guests said so on Google, from 29 November 2024 to 10 October 2026. Includes meals and other visits without overnight stays, as well as booking experiences. The other hotels are assessed on the same 5 themes. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Away from the Zurich heat

A family books a Junior Suite at the last minute to escape a Zurich heatwave. They find plenty of storage for the 4 of them and a lovely balcony, plus a few touches for the children: their own toiletries and chocolate eggs beside the fruit bowl.

Ask for a front-facing room

One guest advises asking for a front-facing room: those at the back look onto the slope, though they do not feel dark. The bathroom in that room had only a bath, with no shower.
