The Peninsula Bangkok
At The Peninsula Bangkok, a pointed-roof sala shelters poolside loungers, among white curtains and palm leaves.
A week here, month by monthIs it for you?
For 2, I’d leave an afternoon free for tea and an evening by the river. For the room, consider a Deluxe Balcony: somewhere to step outside and watch the water, with space for 2 guests.
- I’d ask for
- A Deluxe Balcony with a king bed.
- Worth knowing
- It is on floors 4–22.

Balcony and floor
Deluxe Balcony rooms are on floors 4–22; Grand Deluxe Balcony rooms on floors 23–35. If height matters to your stay, choose the full category name instead of relying on a general request for a high floor.
Spa from age 16
Spa access and treatments are for guests aged 16 and over. Travelling with younger children, I’d arrange the adults’ turns before booking appointments.
An early swim
The pool opens at 6am and closes at 8pm. I’d make use of that first hour in the water, leaving sightseeing until after breakfast.

How we choose the hotelsThe 5 things that matter, as guests tell them
What do The Peninsula Bangkok’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.
Location
9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The river and boat to ICONSIAM are part of the experience.
Room
8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a classic atmosphere.
Staff and service
Personal greetings and small gestures for birthdays and anniversaries.
Breakfast
7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. An extensive buffet and tables looking towards the river.
Price
5 in 10 guests who mention the price find it fair. Facilities and location support perceived value; other accounts focus on the room’s age.

495 guests said so on Google, from 5 November 2024 to 28 October 2026. Google reviews since 5 November 2024, within the available sample. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in Bangkok: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 5 November 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.
The hotels we weigh it against in Bangkok:

More hotels in the guide

Rosewood Bangkok
A 30-storey tower drawn from the wai and joined to the skytrain, with Lennon’s and its 6,000 records on the 30th floor and 3 houses with plunge pools

Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok
The hotel of 1876 on the Chao Phraya: tea in The Authors’ Lounge, jazz at The Bamboo Bar, Le Normandie and the spa by boat across the river

Capella Bangkok
101 low-rise rooms, suites and villas on the Chao Phraya, with 7 villas on the river’s edge, Côte with 2 MICHELIN stars and a free boat to the Skytrain

Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River
I’d book this for days that leave some time for the hotel: a Cantonese dinner, a drink at BKK Social Club and another swim. If walking between shopping malls is your priority, choose Siam; this stay begins down by the river.

Shangri-La Bangkok
I’d stay here to use the ferries and SkyTrain, then return for dinner on the river without another taxi. If you want an intimate hotel with few bedrooms, look elsewhere: Shangri-La’s 802 rooms belong to a different scale of stay.

Amanpuri
Aman’s first resort, from 1988, on a headland above Pansea Beach: pavilions from 115 m², villas of up to 9 bedrooms with a chef and a 20-metre pool in midnight-blue tiles

Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui
I’d come to spend a few days in the villa, with time down at the beach and dinner already settled. A trip built around walking out to bars and restaurants each evening needs a base closer to the island’s nightlife.

InterContinental Miami
Before a cruise, I’d look at this Downtown waterfront address: PortMiami is across the bay, leaving the evening for Toro Toro. For a holiday spent on the beach, choose a hotel in Miami Beach.

Portrait Milano
A piazza open to Milan, then the former seminary’s loggias and the room you choose for quiet.

Palazzo Parigi
A theatrical staircase in Brera, a hidden garden and a room view you choose for yourself.

Ca’ di Dio
From the Castello waterfront into a sheltered court, with the Arsenale on foot and San Giorgio at dinner.

Excelsior Hotel Gallia
Arrive at Milano Centrale, then see the station from above after a swim beneath the skylight.
