For couples and families who want days in a mask and fins, Kuda Rah starts at $391 a night in April 2027: the lowest price any seller showed on Google for one night, 2 adults. Here the beach is narrow, inside a ring of rocks: long sand means a boat trip to the sandbanks.
Co-founder & CEOMarco Di CesareHe spent weeks comparing hotels and kept finding that the detail deciding the trip was missing from the hotel website. 10 years in marketing technology, 2 of them building with AI.About MarcoHow we write the guideLinkedIn
The cheapest week in the calendar read on 12 October 2026 is 5 to 11 April 2027, at $391 to $421 a night for 2 adults. The week of 23 to 29 December 2026 runs from $1,089 to $1,146.
On top of the rate
The shared seaplane costs $450 per adult and $300 per child up to 11 years, return and with taxes included. Diving, water sports and excursions carry a 10% service charge and 17% government tax on top.
Dinners on the beach
3 guests who wrote between September 2025 and March 2026 mention dinners on the beach, and 2 of them put the beach dinner or buffet on 2 evenings a week; I would ask on arrival which evenings they fall.
What Kuda Rah is
NH Maldives Kuda Rah has Kudarah to itself, an island in South Ari Atoll, Alifu Dhaalu on the charts: 51 villas and suites on the beach and over the water, each with its own pool, from 90 m² for the smallest villa to 231 m² for the 2 split-level beach villas. Guests called it Amaya Kuda Rah until 2023; since autumn 2024 it has flown the NH flag of Minor Hotels.
People come for the sea. The rocks laid to protect the shore have turned into a reef, where guests in 2025 and 2026 describe turtles, rays and blacktip sharks in the shallows; for the whale sharks South Ari sees in every season, and for the mantas, the dive centre takes you out by boat. Of the 83 Google reviews since October 2024 that discuss the staff and services, 83% are positive.
Anyone who puts the beach before the reef will be happier on an island with a long spit of sand: here the shore, inside the rocks, is narrow. Extras push the bill up: the seaplane costs $450 per adult return, and the spa, diving and excursions carry a 10% service charge and 17% tax.

The scores come from 95 Google reviews with text, left from 14 October 2024 to 27 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in South Ari Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 7 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

What to expect
2 restaurants on the water, a spa with a sauna, a reef on the rocks and sandbanks a boat ride away.
Sea Spray serves all 3 meals from buffets and live cooking stations, and at dinner, a guest wrote in November 2025, you choose between 4 menus: fish, meat, vegetarian and Indian. At Ocean, open from 11am to 10.30pm, you pick the day’s catch, from lobster to prawns, and have it cooked the way you like.
3 treatment suites, a sauna, a steam room, experience showers and a whirlpool, open from 10am to 8pm. The menu dated 6 March 2026 runs from a 30-minute head massage at $70 to a 140-minute ritual at $200, plus a 10% service charge and 17% GST.
The stone barrier round the island has grown its own coral: inside, you swim in shallow water among fish and small sharks; outside, the current is strong, as 2 guests warned in 2025 and 2026. The dive centre rents a mask, snorkel and fins for $13 a day.
From the jetty go the sandbank picnic, the sunset cruise with its dolphins, handline fishing, and the whale shark and manta trips at $101.80 a head plus service and tax. Whale sharks are likeliest from August to November, mantas from September to May.
Good to know before you book

A ring of rocks runs round the island against erosion: it shelters the lagoon and the reef, and the beach inside it stays narrow.
The shared seaplane costs $450 per adult and $300 per child up to 11, return and with taxes included; the domestic flight to Maamigili with its speedboat is $500 and $250. Booking.com says you pay the resort on arrival.
The spa, diving, water sports and excursions carry a 10% service charge and 17% tax, as the official price lists state; the all-inclusive plan leaves out the special dinners on the resort’s programmes.
The villas have some years on them: through 2025 and 2026 several guests mention outdoor bathrooms weathered by the climate and furnishings due for renewal.
The home page shows a kids’ club icon, yet the activities page describes an indoor play area where parents watch their children, with a babysitter on request, for a fee.

NH Maldives Kuda Rah reviews
The platforms’ scores, read on 3 and 6 October 2026, and what guests say about the reef, the villas and the service.
On 6 October 2026 Google showed 4.5/5 from 706 ratings, 76% of them 5 stars. The figures by theme come from the 95 reviews with text written since October 2024, when the island became an NH hotel: many thank staff members by name. These are accounts we have not verified.

A reef grown on the rocks
In September 2026 a couple in a water villa described the rocks round the island as a kind of artificial reef, with coral on both sides: dozens of species of fish, turtles, several sharks, and calmer water when the current runs.
In March 2026 a family of 5 remembered the sandbank trip as the best moment of the holiday; the whale shark trip, about $800 for the 5 of them, found none. On the all-inclusive plan the minibar drinks were included, the chocolate bars were not.
In September 2025 a guest gave 4.5 stars out of 5: a beach buffet twice a week, plenty of fish and reef sharks, good internet; but rooms due for renovation, bathrooms worn by the humidity, expensive excursions and, on 2 days, smoke from the incinerator.
In July 2026 a couple on their first holiday with their 6-month-old son extended their stay by a week: varied food every day, an island swept several times a day, the outdoor shower, and a reef of coral and reef sharks to watch without a worry.
In May 2026 a couple on an anniversary trip described their departure: suitcases swapped as the seaplane boarded, hours of calls without clear answers and about 6 hours to get their luggage back, with help from the airport police.
In December 2025 a vegetarian family from India praised the breakfast and the staff, who cooked dishes for them when the buffet offered too little. A few months earlier, in May 2025, 2 Indian couples had complained of rude treatment by 2 waiters.
The questions people ask before booking Kuda Rah, answered from sources read between 3 and 7 October 2026.
What kind of resort is NH Maldives Kuda Rah?
A 5-star resort, as Google Hotels and Tripadvisor class it, with 51 villas and suites, all with pools, on Kudarah, an island in South Ari Atoll with nothing else on it. It belongs to NH Hotels, a Minor Hotels brand, as the official page states.
It used to be Amaya Kuda Rah: Google reviews use that name from 2017 to November 2023, and on 2 December 2024 a guest wrote that it had been an NH hotel for 2 months, with work on the beach and the villas still under way. The official site gives neither the date of the change nor the year it opened.
Which villas can you book, and how big are they?
5 types, according to the villas and suites pages read on 3 October 2026. On the beach: the 90 m² villa for 2 adults and a child, the 231 m² 2-floor suite with a sofa bed and the 231 m² 2-bedroom villa for 4 adults. Over the water: the 118 m² villa and the 210 m² residence, each for 3 adults and a child.
Every one has its own pool, and the beach types add a whirlpool bath and an outdoor shower. The home page gives the suites as 201 to 254 m², while their own pages say 210 and 231 m²; the site does not publish how many villas there are of each type.
Where is it, and is the island quiet?
On Kudarah, in South Ari Atoll, 25 minutes by seaplane from Malé, according to the contact page; Tripadvisor puts Maamigili airport 8.8 miles away and Malé’s 60.6 miles. Dhigurah, an inhabited island known for its long spit of sand, is close by, guests say.
It is small and quiet: a guest in March 2025 reckoned on 100 guests at most when full, and in April 2026 a family found barely half the villas taken.
How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?
By seaplane from Velana airport, 25 minutes and then a speedboat, or on Villa Air’s domestic flight to Maamigili, 30 minutes, and 20 minutes by speedboat. The contact page gives the seaplane at $450 per adult and $300 per child up to 11, return and with taxes included, with 20 kg of luggage each, and the domestic flight at $500 and $250.
Booking.com lists the same fares from 19 January 2026 to 31 December 2027 and says they are settled with the resort; you fly the same day if you land by 3.30pm, and leave the same day after 9.30am. The seaplane flies from sunrise to sunset, weather permitting, and a resort representative with a sign waits outside arrivals in Malé.
Can you arrive by car or park?
No: Kudarah is an island reached only by seaplane or by domestic flight and speedboat, with no roads and no car park; no source describes one. On the island you walk or cycle, with bicycles free for the whole stay according to the activities page.
How do you get into the sea?
From the beach in front of the beach villas and, over the water, from the villa’s deck, which the official page says gives straight onto the lagoon. A ring of rocks holds back erosion: inside, the water is shallow and calm; outside, the current is strong, guests warned in October 2025 and July 2026.
The beach is narrow, several guests wrote in 2025 and 2026: the long postcard spit of sand is found on the sandbanks the boat trips visit. For those who would rather stay on the water, the water sports centre rents kayaks, clear canoes and paddleboards.
Is there a house reef you can swim to?
Yes. The diving page describes a house reef full of colourful fish, turtles and the occasional reef shark, explored from the shore or on guided trips, with the island inside a marine protected area. Guests describe coral grown on the rocks round the island, with blacktip sharks, rays, morays and turtles a few metres from the villas.
The April 2026 price list rents a mask, snorkel and fins for $13 a day or $65 for 6 days, and offers guided snorkelling at $30 an hour, plus service and tax. Opinions of the coral differ: little on the house reef for a guest in September 2025, grown on both sides of the rocks for a couple in September 2026.
What pools are there?
An infinity pool on the beach beside Glow, the pool bar, which the activities page calls the island’s focal point. Then the private pools: all 51 villas and suites have one, and in the smallest beach villa the official photograph shows it indoors, beside the bathtub.
The site gives no measurements. Google Hotels also lists an indoor pool, yet the shared pool is outdoors: the likeliest reference is the pool inside the beach villas, which a guest in February 2025 described as indoor.
Is the pool heated, and when is it open?
No source read gives opening hours, a temperature or heating, for the shared pool or for the villas’ pools. Glow, the bar beside the pool, is open from 10am to midnight according to its page.
Where can you eat, and until what time?
According to the dining page: Sea Spray, international, with buffets and live cooking, breakfast from 7.30 to 10am, lunch from 12.30 to 2.20pm and dinner from 7 to 9.30pm; Ocean, Mediterranean and seafood, from 11am to 10.30pm; Glow, the pool bar, from 10am to midnight; Malaa, a Maldivian café, from 4 to 5.30pm; in-villa dining from 10am to 10pm, and private dinners on the beach or a sandbank on request.
The official dining page, read on 15 October 2026, lists Sea Spray, international, for every meal; Ocean, for seafood, 11am to 10.30pm; Malaa, Maldivian, 4pm to 5.30pm; the Glow bar, 10am to midnight; and in-villa dining from 10am to 10pm, not round the clock. Guests describe plenty of Indian and vegetarian food and menus that change daily.
What meal plans are there, and what do they include?
The villa pages, read on 3 October 2026, offer 4 plans: breakfast, breakfast and dinner, 3 meals, and all-inclusive. The all-inclusive offer covers breakfast, lunch and dinner at Sea Spray, unlimited soft drinks and a selection of wines, cocktails, spirits and beers at the outlets it names, a sunset happy hour with snacks, and a minibar restocked daily with soft drinks.
It leaves out the special dinners on the daily, weekly and private dining programmes, as the offer’s terms state. A guest in November 2025 wrote that the beach dinners were included in half board, and the family package includes buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What is the spa like?
According to the spa page, it has 3 treatment suites, a sauna, a steam room, experience showers and a whirlpool, with treatments that combine local ingredients and old traditions, from Ayurveda to Balinese massage. The site does not give its size.
Expedia describes treatment rooms with their own steam rooms, and the official photograph shows a room with 2 beds and a tub in its patio. Guests in 2025 and 2026 praise the massages.
Is the spa included, is there a fee, and can outside guests use it?
Treatments are paid for, plus a 10% service charge and 17% GST, and go on the villa bill, as the spa menu states; no official page says whether the sauna and steam room are free to use. Guests who book on the official site get 25% off the spa, and the family package 20%.
The site publishes neither a spa day pass nor day visits, which guests describe: in April 2025 a minimum spend of $75, with your own transfer from a nearby island, and in December 2025 a single package at $190 a head, half of it as credit for food and drink.
What are the spa’s opening hours?
From 10am to 8pm daily, according to the spa page and the menu dated 6 March 2026, which takes bookings on WhatsApp. The menu asks you to arrive 10 minutes early for a health questionnaire, lets you move or cancel a treatment with 4 hours’ notice, charges 50% for a cancellation less than 2 hours ahead and the full price for a no-show; treatments are for guests over 12.
Which treatments does it offer, and at what prices?
From the menu dated 6 March 2026, prices plus a 10% service charge and 17% GST: Balinese, aromatherapy and de-stress massages at $100 for 60 minutes and $130 for 90, Thai massage at $120 for 60 minutes, hot stones at $140 for 90, the house fusion massage at $150 for 90, and The Spa Delight ritual, 140 minutes, at $200.
For the feet, the back or the head, 30 minutes cost $60 or $70; facials run from $70 for the express to $140 for the anti-ageing, a manicure is $90 and a pedicure $110, and the Ayurveda range tops out at $160 for 90 minutes of Abhyanga with Shirodhara.
Can you go with children?
Yes: the official page welcomes children of every age, has a play area and gives free cots within the villa’s capacity. The activities page adds that the play area is indoors and that parents supervise their children, with a babysitter on request; no page describes the kids’ club its icon promises.
The Family Escape package gives children under 11 free accommodation and meals and 20% off babysitting; on Booking.com children from 13 pay as adults, and Expedia sets a minimum check-in age of 18. The spa takes guests from 12; guests in 2026 describe families with 3 and 5 children and babies of 6 months and 1 year.
What is there on the island besides the villas?
According to the activities page: the infinity pool, a gym open 24 hours, yoga and water aerobics with an instructor, a Maldivian cooking class, the play area and free bicycles; then the dive centre and the water sports centre, with kayaks, a clear canoe, windsurfing, a catamaran, water-skiing, flyboarding, parasailing and jet skis, all paid for according to the April 2026 price list.
Off the island there are sunset handline fishing, a sunset cruise with dolphins, deserted beaches and a sandbank picnic. Guests also mention a small clinic, a souvenir shop and the island’s photographers; Google Hotels lists a doctor on call and a nightclub, which no official page describes.
What offers are there?
The offers page, read on 3 October 2026, listed 5: up to 20% off for bookings made from 6 to 12 October 2026 for stays by 31 March 2027; the long-stay offer, up to 20% off from 3 nights and 25% from 7, with breakfast; all-inclusive, all year; the family package; and the honeymoon.
Booking a one-bedroom villa on the official site brings a fruit basket, 15% off food and drink and 25% off the spa; the 2-bedroom villa and the water residence add one floating breakfast, $100 of credit and a sunset cruise. On Google Hotels on 7 October 2026, Booking.com asked $393 for the beach villa, and Agoda, Priceline and Hotels.com $410.
Can you get married at NH Maldives Kuda Rah?
Yes: the weddings page offers a private ceremony on the beach for up to 25 guests, with a master of ceremonies and dinner by the shore, or the whole island for up to 150 guests, who arrive by seaplane. The resort holds only one wedding a day; the site publishes no prices and offers a proposal request form.
For honeymooners, the Honeymoon in Paradise offer gives 5% off any rate, one floating breakfast, a decorated villa, champagne and chocolates and, from 7 nights, a candlelit dinner; a marriage certificate from the last 12 months is shown at check-in.
Is there a New Year’s Eve dinner?
The official site publishes no New Year’s Eve dinner or party, and no Christmas programme or prices. The terms of the all-inclusive offer exclude the special dinners on the resort’s programmes, and Booking.com’s terms list no compulsory gala dinners.
On the Google Hotels calendar of 6 October 2026, 30 and 31 December appeared without a price, and Christmas Eve was the dearest night of the 4 months read.
Can you play golf?
No: no official page mentions golf. The island’s activities are on the water, from diving to water-skiing, with fishing, the sunset cruise and the sandbank trips, according to the activities page.
When is it open, and when is the best season?
All year: the all-inclusive offer runs in every season and the official pages announce no closures. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, 115 of the 117 nights from 7 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 had a price: only 30 and 31 December were missing, and no source mentions a closure.
The site’s FAQ describes the dry season from November to April and the wet season from May to October, with short showers, and the diving page gives August to November as the best months for whale sharks. In September 2025 a couple had 3 showers of 10 minutes in 14 days.
How much does a night cost?
Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night, taxes and fees included: $311 on 7 October 2026, $407 on 10 November, $401 on 15 December, $1,124 on 24 December, $895 on 5 January 2027, $553 on 12 January 2027 and $696 on 20 January 2027.
The calendar gives the lowest price for the night and names neither the villa nor the meal plan. From 1 November to 22 December it stayed between $401 and $407, then between Christmas and 10 January it rose as high as $1,124; on 30 and 31 December there was no price. For 7 October the lowest figure came from a comparison site, no offer came from the official site, and the transfer is extra.

In the 95 Google reviews with text written since October 2024, 87% of those discussing the location and 74% of those discussing the villas are positive. Praise goes to the reef grown over the rocks, with its turtles and sharks, the sandbank trips, the villas with their pools and the staff, often thanked by name. The beach is narrow and the outdoor bathrooms feel the climate. Guests mention low prices for the Maldives, but also the cost of excursions, drinks and à la carte fish; extras, from excursions to the spa, carry a 10% service charge and 17% tax.
What taxes and charges are added?
The terms of the official offers say rates are subject to taxes, service charges and green tax, without giving the amounts; the spa and diving price lists add a 10% service charge and 17% GST, and a guest in July 2026 confirms 17% on every service. The seaplane fare already includes taxes.
Google Hotels’ prices for the Maldives include taxes and fees: for 7 October the comparison site’s link carried $65.65 of tax in a total of $310.69. Expedia says gratuities are included on the all-inclusive plan.
