For couples and families who want a villa with its own pool in South Ari, Radisson Blu starts at $517 a night on dates from 11 May to 6 September 2027 for 2 adults, the lowest seller’s single-night price on Google. The seaplane is charged on top, and the resort does not encourage children under 12 in its overwater villas.

Like a regular

Huruelhi from above, its beach and greenery and the overwater villa jetties out over the reef.
  1. The villa to ask for

I would ask for the Overwater Villa - Pool and Sunrise View: 220 m² with a king bed and its own pool, facing east for the sunrise over the ocean, on the side this guide suggests for swimming.

  2. The weeks that cost less

Single nights for 2 adults read $517 on several runs between 11 May and 6 September 2027, against $1,598 to $1,880 from 29 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, on Google, read 12 October 2026.

  3. The seaplane and the taxes

Add the seaplane: $1,100 net per person, round trip, on the resort’s contact page. A 10% service charge and 17% GST are added to package rates, and the Maldives green tax is $12 per person per night.

  4. Tuesday lobster at Crusoe’s

Crusoe’s Beach Bar, on its own island, grills lobster on the beach every Tuesday from 7pm to 10pm; the resort says this seafood evening is subject to advance reservations.

What Radisson Blu Resort Maldives is

Radisson Blu Resort Maldives has Huruelhi to itself, an island in South Ari Atoll, and took its first guests in August 2020, as several of them wrote that year. The website counts 128 beach and overwater villas in 11 types, every one with its own pool: from the 215 m² Beach Villa to the 790 m² Three Bedroom Presidential Overwater Villa, on 2 floors with a glass floor over the lagoon. Many stand on the jetties that loop out over the lagoon, and Raha, Kabuki, Alifaan, Mahurab and the spa sit over the water too.

People come for the space and the sea around it. A 2025 guest counted the 220 m² overwater villas among the largest in the Maldives, each with a deck, a walk-in wardrobe and a bath facing the water, and the resort runs whale shark trips from the island: the plankton-rich waters of South Ari keep them here all year, the largest gatherings between December and April. Mantas, turtles and nurse sharks feature in the 2026 reviews, and the staff are what guests praise most.

The same guests describe the costs. Rates include breakfast; half board, full board and the all-inclusive are sold as supplements, and everything else carries 10% service and 17% GST on top. The seaplane costs $1,100 a head return, and on 24 and 31 December the gala dinners are compulsory. On Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, a night for 2 cost from $541 in October to $1,880 on 4 January, taxes included, before the transfer.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Radisson Blu Maldives’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

Nearly every guest who mentions it is happy with it. Guests write about the trips to South Ari’s whale sharks and mantas, the nurse sharks gliding beneath the restaurants and the lagoon in front of the villas.

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests describe big villas with a private pool and a sea view, cleaned twice a day.

  3. Staff and service

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Guests name Raha’s waiters, the chefs, the island host who looks after them from arrival and the dive centre team.

  4. Breakfast

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Breakfast is Raha’s buffet over the lagoon: guests write about the crêpes, pancakes and French toast the chefs make to order, often on request.

  5. Price

Book the all-inclusive and have meals already in the price: that is the advice from guests content with the bill.

The scores come from 500 Google reviews with text, left from 8 May 2025 to 3 October 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in South Ari Atoll: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 7 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

Good to know before you book

  • The seaplane is charged separately: the website asks $1,100 a person, return, and warns of a wait of about 2 hours in Malé. Source: radissonhotels.com

  • Rates include breakfast. Lunch, dinner, drinks, excursions and the spa are charged with 10% service and 17% GST, and the Maldives green tax of $12 a person a night is added.

  • The sunset-side overwater villas face the open sea. Anyone who wants to swim off the deck should book the sunrise villas on the other side: guests in 2025 report that on the sunset side the waves are often too strong to get in.

  • Anyone staying on 24 or 31 December pays a compulsory gala dinner: $550 and $750 an adult, $325 and $425 a child aged 6 to 11, plus service and tax.

  • The island is long and the villas sit far out along the jetties. Guests call a buggy, shared with other guests: in 2025 and 2026 some had one within 5 minutes and others waited more than 10.

  • Snorkelling from the island depends on where you swim: some guests in 2025 and 2026 found the beaches easy for beginners and saw turtles and sharks, others found little coral and paid for the boat trips to see more.

  • Between June 2025 and September 2026, 5 Google reviews describe the villa’s air conditioning out of order or not cooling; 2 others, in 2026, write that it worked well.

A honeymoon on the sunset side

In October 2026 a honeymoon couple spent a week in an overwater sunset villa on the all-inclusive, which gave them 3 restaurants to choose from. They paid extra for the floating breakfast and the whale shark trip, which they call the experience of a lifetime, and snorkelled around the island every day with gear rented from the dive centre.

Prices at the table

In April 2026 a couple in an overwater villa with pool praised the staff and the dive centre, but paid about $55 for a burger before 10% and 17% were added, and often chose not to eat at the resort. Some finishes looked dated, and villas were being renovated.

Questions before you go

The questions people ask before booking Radisson Blu Maldives, answered from the sources read on 3 to 7 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Radisson Blu Resort Maldives?

A 5-star resort of the Radisson Blu brand, part of Radisson Hotel Group, on Huruelhi, an island of its own in South Ari Atoll. The website lists 128 beach and overwater villas, all with a private pool, and Tripadvisor gives the same number. Guests date the opening to August 2020; the first Google reviews with text are from that month.

It is a modern resort of wood and thatch, with 7 restaurants and bars, the overwater Blu Spa, a dive and water sports centre with PADI 5-star status run by Ocean Maldives, a kids’ club and a whale shark research centre. The website lists awards from 2020 to 2025, among them Best Wedding Destination 2025 from Travel Trade Maldives.

What villas are there, and how big are they?

11 types, all on the rooms page and all with their own pool. Over the water: the Overwater Villa of 220 m², in 3 versions, Lagoon View, Sunrise View and Sunset View, for 2 adults and a child; the Three Bedroom Overwater Villa of 350 m², lagoon or sunset side, for up to 7 adults; and the single Three Bedroom Presidential Overwater Villa, 790 m² on 2 floors for 8.

On the beach: the Beach Villa of 215 m² for 3 adults, the Two Bedroom Family Villa of 355 m² and the Two Bedroom Beach Villa of 370 m², both for 5, the Three Bedroom Family Villa of 355 m², among the gardens, and the Three Bedroom Beach Villa of 410 m², both for 7. Every villa has a deck, loungers, a walk-in wardrobe, twin basins and an espresso machine. The website does not say how many there are of each type; the enclave brochure groups 8 one-bedroom overwater villas and the Presidential Villa in a private enclave, and gives larger occupancies than the website: 3 adults and a child for the overwater villas, 8 adults and 2 children for the Presidential.

Where is it, and is the island quiet?

On Huruelhi, in South Ari Atoll, also called Alifu Dhaalu, about 116 km from Malé airport by Google Hotels’ measure. The contact page gives «Huruelhi Island, South Ari Atoll»; Booking.com places it at Fenfushi, the inhabited island nearby. The nearest domestic airport is Maamigili, 15 minutes by speedboat.

Guests describe a peaceful island, at times nearly empty. What noise there is comes from the main pool, where children play, and from the evening entertainment, with a resident band, karaoke and quizzes.

How do you get there from Malé, and what does the transfer cost?

By seaplane, 30 to 45 minutes, sometimes with stops at other resorts, for flights landing in Malé between 6am and 3.30pm; or by domestic flight to Maamigili, 30 minutes, then 15 minutes by speedboat. A private speedboat takes about 4 hours 30 minutes. The website warns of about 2 hours’ wait at Malé, in the shared lounge at the seaplane terminal, and asks for flight details 5 days ahead.

It is extra. The website asks $1,100 a person return for the seaplane, $1,200 for the domestic flight and speedboat and $4,500 one way for the private speedboat, net; the festive page quotes the seaplane at $990. Booking.com lists $1,100 an adult and $870 a child aged 2 to 11, rising to $1,300 and $990 from 24 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and $11,000 a group by speedboat. Its listing also advertises 50% off the seaplane from 3 nights.

Can you arrive by car, and is there parking?

No: Huruelhi is an island reached only by seaplane, speedboat or domestic flight and speedboat, and there are no cars. Google Hotels lists paid parking and electric-car charging, which do not exist on the island; on it you walk along the jetties or call one of the resort’s buggies.

How do you get into the sea?

Every villa, by the website, has direct access to the ocean or the beach: steps from the deck on the overwater villas, the sand in front of the beach ones. The resort map marks the swimming and snorkelling areas, within 30 metres of the shore, and marks with a symbol the stretches where swimming is not allowed.

The side matters. The sunset villas face the open sea: in 2025 a guest found the water calm enough only for a few hours at low tide in the morning, and another advised the sunrise side for gentler swimming. The beaches by Raha, Crusoe’s and Eats & Beats are the ones guests praise.

Is there a house reef you can swim to?

The website does not use the words house reef; it sells guided snorkelling, from a $75 private lesson to the 4-hour manta and turtle trip at $250, plus service and tax, and hires out the gear at the dive centre. Guests in 2025 and 2026 snorkelled off the beaches and the decks and saw turtles, rays and nurse sharks, and a family in August 2025 found the house reef beautiful.

Others, in 2025 and 2026, found little coral close to the island. The best encounters in the reviews come from the boat trips.

What are the pools like?

Every one of the 128 villas has its own pool: 32 m² in the one-bedroom overwater villas and 90 m² in the Presidential Villa, by the enclave brochure, and infinity pools in the family and beach villas. The resort map shows 2 shared pools, at Eats & Beats, the beach club, and at Crusoe’s, a round pool with a bar in the middle; Booking.com also counts 2.

Guests praise the main pool by Eats & Beats at sunset. Google Hotels adds a wading pool and a hot tub; the spa’s couples’ rituals end in an overwater jacuzzi.

Are the pools heated, and when are they open?

The website does not say whether the pools are heated and prints no opening hours for them; Eats & Beats, beside the main pool, is open from 10am to 10pm, by the dining page.

Where do you eat, and until when?

The dining page lists Raha, the all-day restaurant over the lagoon, with buffets at breakfast 7am to 11am, lunch 12.30pm to 3pm and dinner 6.30pm to 10pm; Kabuki, Japanese and Asian, and Alifaan, a Mediterranean grill that needs a booking, both 7pm to 10pm; and The Lab, the wine cellar, by reservation only.

Then come Crusoe’s Beach Bar, 10am to 6pm, with a lobster barbecue in the evening, Eats & Beats by the pool, with pizza, 10am to 10pm, Mahurab, the overwater bar, 6pm to 11pm, private dinners from Dining by Design, booked 24 hours ahead, floating breakfasts and in-villa dining around the clock. Guests praise the breakfast and the chefs, often by name; 10% service and 17% GST are added to every bill.

Which meal plans are there, and what does the all-inclusive cover?

Breakfast is in every rate. The official booking engine, read on 7 October 2026 for 10 November, sells 4 plans: breakfast, breakfast and dinner, full board and all inclusive, as supplements for 2 of $234, $328 and $442 a night on the discounted rate and $349, $489 and $659 on the flexible one, tax excluded. The Kids Stay & Eat Free offer covers up to 2 children under 12 on the children’s menu.

The website does not say what the all-inclusive covers. Guests describe meals and drinks at Raha, Crusoe’s and Eats & Beats, with Kabuki and Alifaan as extras, a Classic and a Premium version, and surcharges for some dishes and drinks. A couple on half board in December 2025 could use 2 of the 5 restaurants, and in April 2026 one guest’s full board did not cover soft drinks.

What is the spa like?

Blu Spa stands over the water. The spa page gives 6 couples’ treatment rooms with glass floors, 2 of them with spa baths, and a beauty salon, plus a gym open around the clock and an overwater yoga pavilion. The spa menu uses Aromatherapy Associates products and ends the couples’ packages in an open-air overwater jacuzzi.

The size is not published, and no official page mentions a sauna or steam room. Guests in 2025 and 2026 single out the Balinese and Gentle Waves massages.

Is the spa included, what does it cost, and can outside guests use it?

Treatments are extra, charged to the villa: from $175 for 50 minutes to $285 for the 80-minute signature treatments, $599 and $699 for the couples’ packages, plus 10% service and 17% GST, by the spa menu. The booking engine’s Book now Deal adds $50 of spa credit a stay; the gym and the daily yoga classes are free.

No page offers a day pass for anyone not staying, and the island is reached only by seaplane or boat. Guests must be 16 or over; younger children use the spa with an adult.

What are the spa’s opening hours?

Daily from 8am to 8pm, by the spa page and the spa menu. You book through the island host, at the spa, by dialling 1366 from the villa or in the resort app; cancelling less than 12 hours ahead costs the full price. The gym is open 24 hours.

Which treatments are there, and at what price?

The spa menu lists Maldivian, Ayurvedic and Balinese signature treatments at $285, massages from $175 to $285, body scrubs and wraps from $175 to $199, Aromatherapy Associates facials from $205 to $259, manicures and pedicures from $60 and a pregnancy massage at $199.

Teenagers and children have their own menu, from $30 for nail polish to $150 for a 50-minute massage. Every price carries 10% service and 17% GST.

Is it good for children?

Yes, and it presents itself as a family resort.
