The Pool Beach Villas from above: red roofs, plunge pools and thatched parasols on the sand.
  1. A pool above water

I would ask for a Pool Water Villa for its private plunge pool and veranda looking over the Indian Ocean; there are steps from the deck into the lagoon when you want to leave the pool.

  2. Weeks that cost less

In the calendar read on 12 October 2026, each night from 1 May to 4 June 2027 is $328 for 2 adults. The dearest night shown is 31 December 2026, at $1,790.

  3. The extra bed charge

Booking.com lists an extra bed for guests aged 3 or over at $85 per person per night, on request and subject to availability; it is paid separately during the stay.

  4. Dinner on your terrace

For a quiet meal in your villa, the room-service menu runs 24 hours: you can eat inside or on the terrace, whether your villa is on the beach or over water.

What Dhigufaru is

The island’s name means “a long reef”, and the resort sits in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (official site). It has 3 different sides: to the east Boaku, a sheltered cove whose still water forms a natural pool, for sunrise and for children; to the west Veli, a wide, flat beach of white sand, for sunset; along the north the Aanu beach rock, where you hear the waves (the island’s story).

There are 83 villas in 10 formats: 20 Beach Villas of 49 m², 10 Pool Beach Villas of 103 m², 10 Semi Water Villas of 53 m², 20 Water Villas of 74 m², 20 Pool Water Villas of 89 m², 2 Two Bedroom Family Beach Villas of 139 m² and the 151 m² Sangu Suite (resort factsheet). A Google review from April 2019 still speaks of 40 rooms and no overwater villas; the first Water Villas with pools appear in March 2021 (Google).

Most meals are at Dhandifulhu, the 120-seat buffet restaurant with a Maldivian night; then the Athiri Grill on the beach, the 20-cover Muraka over the water, the Raagudi Bar and the Thundi Pool Bar beside the pool (resort factsheet). What the all-inclusive covers is not published: guests who took it in 2021, 2022 and August 2026 describe a buffet at fixed hours and a list of drinks, with the minibar and coffee capsules charged extra (Google).

The bill starts low for the Maldives, between $274 and $433 a night for 2, taxes included, from October to mid-December 2026, and climbs to $1,790 on New Year’s Eve (Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026). Transfers are not included: Booking.com gives $475 per adult for the seaplane (Booking.com). The staff and the reef are what reviews return to most; the resort has been taking guests since 2016, and the overwater villas arrived after 2019 (Google).

Lumina Guide 2027

Dhigufaru is a small island in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve: Boaku for sunrise, Veli for sunset, a reef all the way round and 83 villas at a modest price for the Maldives.

How we choose the hotels

Our reading, point by point

What we found reading the hotel’s own pages, one thing at a time.

  1. Location

Baa Atoll, 3 different beaches and a reef round the island; 40 minutes by seaplane.

  2. Character

A small island you can walk round in half an hour, reviewed since 2016, with overwater villas added later.

  3. Rooms

10 formats from 49 to 151 m², 31 with a private pool; the Pool Water Villas, for the view and the sunset from the pool, are the ones guests write about most warmly.

  4. Food and social life

A main buffet, the grill and Muraka over the water; at the buffet guests praise the variety and the themed nights.

  5. Wellness

A 241 m² Funa Spa with garden cabanas, sauna and steam room; prices unpublished.

  6. The stay as a whole

From $274 a night for 2 in October, but transfers, bar and excursions extra.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Dhigufaru’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Veli’s wide beach, the lagoon and a reef you can swim out to from the shore come up in almost every review, along with the turtles, sharks and rays seen while snorkelling near the jetty.

  2. Room

8 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The overwater pool villas draw the most praise, for the view and the sunset from the pool; in the Beach Villas guests like the bathroom with its open-air shower and the beach at the door.

  3. Staff and service

7 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. The staff are what guests praise most often, from the restaurant waiters to the villa hosts, who look after guests for the whole stay; many are thanked by name.

  4. Breakfast

Breakfast is a buffet, like every meal here; guests who enjoy it praise the variety and, in the evening, the themed dinners.

  5. Price

The entry rate is low for the Maldives; the all-inclusive leaves out the minibar, coffee capsules and most of the bar, and excursions, dives and the transfer are charged separately.

The scores come from 345 Google reviews with text, left from 26 October 2016 to 22 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Baa and Raa atolls: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Baa and Raa atolls:

Price: for two on the night of 1 May 2027, from $328 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

May through 4 June 2027 holds the $328 nights for 2 adults, while the festive stretch from 21 December 2026 to 9 January 2027 ranges from $764 to $1,790 where priced. I would compare the whole-stay quote before booking: the night of 28 May 2027 fell from $628 to $328 between the readings on 4 and 12 October 2026.

Questions before you go

How much does a night at Dhigufaru Island Resort cost?

On the Google Hotels calendar, read on 6 October 2026 for 2 adults and one night, the lowest rate was $330 on 7 October 2026 and $274 on 11 October, the cheapest of the 3 months read; $413 on 1 November, $418 on 1 December and $433 on 18 December. It climbs over the holidays: $1,368 on 24 December and $1,790 on 31 December, then $381 on 11 January 2027.

These prices include taxes and fees; Google does not say which villa or meal plan (Google Hotels). Transfers are extra, and on 24 and 31 December the compulsory gala dinners are added (Booking.com).

What does the all-inclusive include?

The site offers half board, full board and all-inclusive without publishing what they include (booking enquiry). Reviews fill it in: the buffet at Dhandifulhu at fixed hours and a list of 8–10 drinks (August 2026); the minibar and coffee capsules charged, like most of the bar menu (2021 and 2022); in March 2023 a guest writes that their package also covered snorkelling, kayaks, fishing and the seaplane (Google). What is included varies from one rate to another.

How do you get there, and what does the transfer cost?

By day, by seaplane from Malé, about 40 minutes; in the evening, a domestic flight of about 20 minutes to Dharavandhoo and 30 minutes by speedboat (resort factsheet). Expedia gives 25 minutes’ flying and 25 by boat, Booking.com 70 minutes in all (Expedia, Booking.com).

The seaplane costs $475 per adult and $300 per child, not included in the room rate, according to Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026 (Booking.com); the official site publishes no fare. Flight details go to the resort at least 48 hours ahead, and above 20 kg per person the seaplane may charge for luggage (Expedia).

Is there a house reef? Can you snorkel from the beach?

Yes: the reef runs round the island, shelters it from currents and leaves shallow water in the lagoon, which the water sports centre uses for canoeing and snorkelling (dive centre). In 2026 guests describe turtles, sharks and rays while snorkelling from the beach or near the jetty; the reef lies a little way off the shore and is an easy swim with fins, and close to shore there is little coral, so the fish are the draw; guided snorkelling, in June 2026, ran on Thursdays and Sundays (Google).

Which villa should you choose?

For the beach, the 49 m² Beach Villas, between Boaku to the east and Veli to the west, or the 103 m² Pool Beach Villas with a pool; at the lagoon’s edge the 53 m² Semi Water Villas, facing sunrise; over the water the 74 m² Water Villas with steps into the lagoon and the 89 m² Pool Water Villas with a pool (resort factsheet, the villas). For a family there is the 139 m² Two Bedroom Family Beach Villa, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and for an occasion the 151 m² Sangu Suite with a pool.

The Pool Water Villas get the most praise in reviews, for the view and the sunset from the pool; a guest in January 2025 advises taking one facing sunset (Google). The site does not publish how many guests each villa sleeps.

Is Dhigufaru good for children?

Yes: there is the Baraveli Kids Club, with a library, an indoor playground and a children’s pool (Baraveli Kids Club), and the Boaku cove has still water (the island’s story). The club opens at set times and children must be with an adult at all times (terms).

Children from 12 pay as adults; an extra bed costs $85 a night and a cot $6 on Booking.com (Booking.com), while Expedia gives $75 a day for the bed, free cots and paid babysitting (Expedia).

What taxes and charges are added?

The resort’s prices are “++”: 10% service and TGST, 17% for tourism since 1 July 2025 (MIRA, read on 15 October 2026), are added, as in the 2024 wedding packages. Expedia notes a 5% charge on credit card payments (Expedia). Transfers, the gala dinners of 24 and 31 December, the minibar and excursions are extra.

What is the spa like? Is it included?

Funa Spa covers 241 m²: private cabanas in the garden behind the main building, reflexology with manicures and pedicures, a salon and a sauna and steam room you can book privately or use without an appointment (Funa Spa, sauna, reflexology). Treatments can also be given in your villa (cabanas).

The site publishes no hours or prices and does not say entry is included: on Booking.com the October 2026 rates carry “20% off on Spa”, a discount on treatments (Booking.com). Guests praise the Balinese massage (June 2026) and the sports massage (March 2026) (Google).

Is spa access included in the room rate? Is there a fee? Can outside guests use it?

Treatments are paid for: on Booking.com the October 2026 rates include 20% off the spa, and guests write of massages booked separately (Booking.com, Google). Funa Spa’s page, read on 3 October 2026, lists treatments, reflexology, a salon, a sauna and a steam room, with no prices or hours (Funa Spa). You can drop in to the sauna and steam room or book a private session in advance; the site does not say whether either costs extra (sauna and steam room). The resort publishes no day pass for people not staying, and the island is reached only by seaplane or by domestic flight and speedboat (resort factsheet).

What restaurants are there?

Dhandifulhu is the main restaurant, an all-day buffet with 120 seats, its own bar and a Maldivian night; the Athiri Grill, on the beach, does grilled fish and meat for 40; Muraka, over the water, serves Maldivian and international food for 20; the Raagudi Bar has one of the largest whisky and champagne collections in the Maldives, the resort says; the Thundi Pool Bar has a bistro kitchen and afternoon tea (resort factsheet, Raagudi Bar, Thundi Pool Bar). In-villa dining runs 24 hours (in-villa dining).

At the buffet guests praise the variety, with Indian, Arabic and Thai food (November 2025), and the themed evenings; vegetarians have a narrower choice (Google).

What pools are there? Are they heated?

There is the shared outdoor pool by the Thundi Pool Bar, a children’s pool at the kids’ club and the private pools of 30 villas and the Sangu Suite (Thundi Pool Bar, kids’ club, resort factsheet). The site does not say whether they are heated or when they open.

Can you get married at Dhigufaru? What does it cost?

Yes, with a symbolic ceremony: the 2024 packages come with a “Symbolic Wedding Certificate”. Bronze costs $900, Silver $1,500, Gold $2,000 and Diamond $2,600, plus 10% service and TGST, 17% since 1 July 2025 (MIRA, read on 15 October 2026); from Silver a 5-course dinner and a 45-minute Balinese massage for the couple are added, from Gold make-up and champagne, and Diamond adds breakfast in the villa and a sunset cruise (wedding packages). A proposal costs $450 at the resort and $1,000 on a sandbank. Muraka hosts private dinners (Muraka).

What happens at Christmas and New Year?

On 24 December 2026 there is a compulsory Christmas Eve gala dinner, $250 per adult and $125 for children aged 2 to 11; on 31 December the New Year’s Eve gala, $350 and $175; infants are free (Booking.com, read on 3 October 2026). The site does not publish the menu.

Are there special offers?

The site has no offers page. On Booking.com the October 2026 rates include 20% off the spa, and honeymooners get a bottle of wine and a decorated bed once during the stay (Booking.com). The resort’s terms, in force since 15 August 2016, set non-refundable Early Bird rates and free cancellation up to 60 days before arrival for ordinary bookings (terms).

Is the resort open all year?

Yes, as far as the sources show: the site lists no seasonal closure and Google’s calendar, read on 6 October 2026, had prices for every night from October 2026 to January 2027 (Google Hotels).

Where is it, and what is the island like? Is it quiet?

On Dhigufaru island in Baa Atoll; Google’s address is 9X2R+V2P Dhigufaruvinagan’du, Kendhoo (Google). The villas line the island’s edge, each facing the sea (the villas), and you can walk round it in about half an hour, a guest wrote in February 2026.

Evening life centres on the Thundi Pool Bar, with the recreation centre beside it (recreation centre); in July 2026 a guest describes a DJ, karaoke or live music every other evening, while other reviews speak of silence and only the sound of the waves (Google).

Can you arrive by car? Is there parking?

No: Dhigufaru is an island, reached only by seaplane or by domestic flight and speedboat (resort factsheet). Booking.com says “Free Private Parking Available On Site” and Tripadvisor lists parking among the amenities (Booking.com, Tripadvisor): there are no roads and no guests’ cars on the island.

What is the beach like? Can you swim from the villa?

The Beach Villas open onto the beach, Boaku to the east or Veli to the west (Beach Villa); from the Semi Water Villas you step into the lagoon off the sun deck, from the Water and Pool Water Villas down private steps (Semi Water, Water Villa, Pool Water). Veli is wide and flat, of white sand (the island’s story).

Is there golf?

No: the resort’s list of facilities covers billiards, a gym, chess, beach volleyball, the multi-purpose court, table tennis and cornhole, but no golf course (resort factsheet), and the site offers no golf packages.

Wi-Fi, check-in, a doctor: what should you know?

Wi-Fi is in every villa (Water Villa); between 2017 and 2022 several guests write that it is slower in the villas than at the restaurant and the bar, and some suggest a local SIM; in January and February 2026, 2 guests had no trouble (Google). Check-in is from 2pm, check-out by noon (Booking.com); Expedia gives 18 as the minimum check-in age, Booking.com none (Expedia).

The 2016 terms say the resort offers first aid only and is not equipped for guests with disabilities (terms); a guest in October 2025 mentions a doctor’s office on the island. Pets and drones are not allowed (Booking.com).

What kind of resort is it, and since when?

The resort also has a yacht, Dhaainkan’baa (official site).

What do guests say?

On Booking.com location scores 9.6 and staff 9.5, Wi-Fi 6.3. The praise goes to the staff, the reef and the overwater villas; the buffet keeps fixed hours and the extras come on top of the rate, from the transfer to the minibar and most of the bar; since 2025 some reviews mention furniture and villas in need of maintenance (Google).
