Fushifaru suits couples who want a resident host and a night on a private sandbank, with the lowest seller on Google showing one night for 2 adults from $636. Those who want a larger island to explore can consider Kuramathi.

  1. The villa at sunset

I would ask for the Beach Villa Sunset for its western position and lagoon outlook: 96 m², with an outdoor bathroom and a king-sized bed, for days spent between the villa and the sand.

  2. The long cheaper stretch

In the calendar read on 12 October 2026, every night from 1 May to 3 July 2027 showed $636. The highest single night was 25 March 2027, at $1,013.

  3. Payments and extra luggage

Online payments carry a 4% bank charge. On the seaplane, each guest has 20 kg checked and 5 kg hand luggage; excess costs $5 per kg before tax.

  4. Leave the bags behind

Check-out is at noon; if your flight leaves later, the resort can store your luggage. Keeping the villa longer depends on availability and costs 50% of the room rate.

What Fushifaru is

At Fushifaru, the villa you book matters most. The Sunrise villas face east, towards the open ocean the Maldivians call Maakandu; the Sunset villas face west, over the Etherevari lagoon. Beach Villas average 96 m², with an open-air bathroom and no pool; Pool Beach Villas and the pool villas over the water reach 122 m², the 2 duplexes 240 and 250. The Jacuzzi Water Villa has a hot tub on its deck and no pool.

Guests write above all about the staff: of the 154 Google reviewers with text who mention them, 94% are positive. In the water, some step down the ladder among turtles and rays, and from October to November the mantas are a boat trip away at Fushifaru Thila; anyone who wants a house reef thick with coral will be happier on another island. Do the sums before you go: on 6 October 2026 Google showed $708 to $1,013 a night for 2 between 18 October 2026 and 31 January 2027, without naming the villa or the meal plan, and the website gives no seaplane fare.

In the Lumina Guide

Fushifaru is a 63-villa island on the edge of Lhaviyani Atoll where every guest has a dedicated host, the sea is a few steps from the villa and mantas gather at Fushifaru Thila from October to November.

The 5 things that matter, as guests tell them

What do Fushifaru’s guests say? They write it in their reviews, even those who only came for a drink or dinner: we read every one and tell the 5 things that matter, from the location to the bill.

  1. Location

  2. Room

9 in 10 guests who mention it are happy with it. Of the villas, guests write about the space, the open-air bathrooms and housekeeping twice a day; those over the water step down into the lagoon from the ladder on their deck.

The scores come from 211 Google reviews with text, left from 14 November 2017 to 18 September 2026. The other hotels are the ones weighed for a stay in the Maldives: for each we read its latest 500 Google reviews with text, or all of them where there are fewer, as of 6 October 2026. The score is the average of what they say, from 0 if they speak of it very badly to 10 if they speak of it very well. Where only a few mention something, the score stays close to the guide’s average: a handful of voices does not make a reputation.

The hotels we weigh it against in the Maldives:

Price: for two on the night of 1 May 2027, from $636 (seen on Google Hotels on 12 October 2026).

What a night costs, season by season

From 10 to 30 April 2027, each single night showed $852, before the lower prices of May. I would compare the full stay before paying: even within the May-to-August period, individual nights ranged from $636 to $753.

2 and a half weeks, with an upgrade

In a review from September 2026, a family who spent 2 and a half weeks in August describe being moved up to a newly refurbished pool villa on the sunset side, close to the restaurant, where the music runs until 11pm. They saw builders at work on other villas without hearing them; on the way home, the seaplane left from Kuredu.

Questions before you go

The questions people ask before booking Fushifaru, answered from sources read between 3 and 6 October 2026.

What kind of resort is Fushifaru Maldives?

A small resort on its own island: 63 villas, 44 on the beach and 19 over the water, each looked after by a dedicated host. Google lists it as a 5-star hotel. In 2019 guests wrote of 49 villas, 5 of them over the water: the Pool Water and Premium Pool Water villas, which the website calls «new», came later. In October 2026 the resort marks its ninth anniversary with a week of events from 20 to 24 October.

The website points to the BeKind group for its loyalty programme, environmental commitments and jobs, and sells combined stays with Meyyafushi Maldives.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3

Which villas can you choose, and how big are they?

9 types, with the average sizes the website publishes: Beach Villa Sunrise and Sunset, 96 m², with no pool; Pool Beach Villa Sunrise and Sunset, 122 m², with a private pool; the Jacuzzi Water Villa, 96 m², with a Jacuzzi on the deck; the Pool Water Villa and Premium Pool Water Villa, 122 m², with a pool; the Beach Duplex Villa, 240 m², and the Premium Beach Duplex Villa, 250 m², each with a pool and 2 units joined by a living room. Single villas sleep 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children; the duplexes 6 adults, or 4 adults and 4 children. Extra beds and cots are requested at booking, subject to availability.

Source 1 · Source 2

Is the sunrise or the sunset side better?

The Sunrise villas sit on the east side and face the open ocean; the Sunset villas sit on the west, over the calm lagoon. The water villas are on the south of the island, a guest wrote in December 2023. An Italian guest recommended the Sunset side in January 2020; others noticed that wind and current shift from one side to the other with the season.

Source 1 · Source 2

Where is it, and how far is it from Malé?

On the north-eastern edge of Lhaviyani Atoll, 145 km from Velana International Airport: 35 minutes by seaplane. Google gives the address as Lhaviyani Atoll, Fushifaru 07086. You walk everywhere on the island; Kuredu, the atoll's big resort island, is about 8 km to the north-west.

Source 1 · Source 2

How do you get there, and what does the transfer cost?

By seaplane: a resort host meets guests at the airport, then a 5-minute bus ride to the TMA seaplane terminal and a 35-minute flight. The seaplane flies in daylight only: your international flight must land between 6am and 3.45pm and leave between 9am and 8pm, otherwise the resort suggests a night at a hotel near the airport. The alternative is a 35-minute Maldivian domestic flight to Madivaru and a 15-minute speedboat ride.

The transfer fare is not published. The terms ask for flight details and names at least 72 hours ahead; each guest has 20 kg of checked luggage and 5 kg of hand luggage, with excess at $5 a kilo before tax, and infants travel without a seat or allowance. Cancelling within 72 hours costs 50% of the leg and a no-show the full fare. In a review from September 2026 a guest wrote that the return seaplane left from Kuredu, reached by boat.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3

Can you drive there or park?

No: Fushifaru is an island reached only by seaplane or boat. The website never mentions parking, and the resort's Google listing marks it as unavailable.

Source 1 · Source 2

What is the beach like, and how do you get into the sea?

The beach villas each have a stretch of sand in front; the water villas have a private ladder into the lagoon. A guest, in a review from September 2026, describes a gently shelving shore with plenty of coral fragments: easy to wade in, as long as you watch your feet. In June 2026 a couple in a Pool Beach Villa had reserved loungers and a parasol on the beach.

Source 1 · Source 2

Is there a reef you can swim to?

Yes: the resort describes a house reef, its «Underwater Playground», a coral rejuvenation garden and Project Faru, in which guests plant a coral fragment with the marine biologist. Masks and fins are free when you book on the website.

Reviews disagree. In August 2026 one guest wrote of a fine reef right in front of the water villas; in 2022 another found it good, though not in front of them. The resort itself speaks of a coral garden being regrown, and in 2023 and 2026 guests write of bleached coral, with fish, turtles, rays and sharks all around it.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3 · Source 4

When can you see manta rays?

From October to November, the resort says: plankton in the atoll draws mantas to Fushifaru Thila, an underwater pinnacle near the island with a cleaning station, which the dive centre visits with divers and snorkellers alike. No sighting is guaranteed: one guest in late 2025 called the 2 mantas they met «lucky», another narrowly missed one.

Source 1 · Source 2

What pools are there?

6 of the 9 villa types have a private pool; the Premium Pool Water Villa's has a glass front, the Pool Water Villa's an infinity edge. The Jacuzzi Water Villa has a hot tub on its deck, and the Beach Villas have no outdoor pool at all. Fanihandhi Pool Bar sits beside the shared infinity pool, and the spa has a cool plunge pool in its relaxation area. Google marks a hot tub as unavailable; the Jacuzzi Water Villas say otherwise.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3 · Source 4

Are the pools heated?

The website gives neither heating nor a temperature for any pool. The only one it describes is the spa's plunge pool, which it calls cool.

Source 1 · Source 2

Where can you eat, and until when?

Korakali, on the beach, serves breakfast from 7am to 10am, lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 6.30pm to 9pm. Raakani, a thatched pavilion over the sea, serves catch of the day and grills at lunch and dinner on the same hours. The teppanyaki grill runs from 7pm to 10pm. Fanihandhi Pool Bar opens from 10am to 11pm, Thundi Beach Bar from 11am to 10pm and Raalhu Bar, for coffee, from noon to 5pm; in-villa dining runs around the clock. The resort also offers a floating breakfast in your pool, dinner on a sandbank, films under the stars and the Sushi Dhoni.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3

Is Fushifaru all inclusive? What do the meal plans include?

The official website has no meal-plan page and no meal prices: the direct rates it publishes are for the villa, with its offers. The Google listing says all-inclusive is available and that breakfast costs extra. Guests describe both: in January 2026 a couple on half board, with buffet breakfast and dinner and a different cuisine every evening; in 2019 and 2023 others on all-inclusive, with a limited choice of alcohol.

Under the family offer, up to 2 children under 12 stay and eat free. Check the board in the rate you book.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3 · Source 4

What does the spa offer?

Veyoge Spa, set in the greenery, offers holistic treatments built around the frangipani; it has a steam room, a sauna and a relaxation area with a cool plunge pool. Alongside are a beauty salon, the 24-hour gym and an outdoor yoga deck. The website publishes neither a treatment menu nor prices; in August 2026 a couple praised massages by therapists from Bali.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3

Is the spa included in the rate, is there a fee, and can outside guests use it?

No page of the website, read on 3 October 2026, says the spa is included in the rate. The Spa & Wellness page describes Veyoge Spa's treatments, the steam room, the sauna and the relaxation area's plunge pool, open from 10am to 7pm, but publishes no prices, no treatment menu, no minimum age and no day pass for anyone not staying on the island. The direct-booking benefits listed in the Winter Sun Escape offer cover free non-motorised watersports, snorkelling gear and Wi-Fi, and leave the spa out; the only spa inclusion the website names is in the Twin Island offer, and that one is at Meyyafushi Maldives.

Fushifaru is a private island reached by seaplane or boat, and its arrivals page describes only guests who are staying.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3 · Source 4 · Source 5

What are the spa's opening hours?

The spa opens from 10am to 7pm; the gym is open 24 hours a day.

Is it good for children?

Yes, though the website leaves out the club’s ages and hours. Kokko Kids Club has an indoor playhouse with a ball pit and an outdoor ark with slides, and Google also lists babysitting. Under the family offer up to 2 children under 12 stay, eat and play free. In December 2025 a family with a 2-and-a-half-year-old praised the waiters who played with him and the island’s doctor.

Source 1 · Source 2 · Source 3 · Source 4

Can you bring pets?

The website does not say; the resort's Google listing says pets are not allowed.

Source

Is there Wi-Fi? Meeting rooms?

Wi-Fi is free in every villa and public area. The website describes no meeting rooms; Google lists a business centre without details.

Source 1 · Source 2

Is it better to book direct or through a portal?

Booking on the website brings, according to its home page, a best-rate guarantee, flexible cancellation, a further 10% off for BeKind members, the dedicated host, canoes, paddleboards and pedalos, masks and fins, Wi-Fi and the seaplane lounge on arrival; honeymooners get wine, sweets and a romantic turndown. Direct offers apply per villa and per stay, cannot be combined and have no cash value.

Source 1 · Source 2

What offers are there?

Read on 3 October 2026: Winter Sun Escape, up to 25% off the villa and extra guests, booked by 31 October 2026 for stays until 9 January 2027; Early Bird 2027, up to 25%, for stays from 11 January to 23 December 2027; the resort's ninth anniversary, 25% off from 15 October to 15 November 2026; and Long Stay, up to 30% off, with free cancellation up to 14 days before arrival.

Source 1 · Source 2

Is there a New Year's Eve dinner?

The website publishes no gala dinner or programme for 31 December 2026. Festive Escape covers stays from 24 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. Bookings from 24 December to 9 January must be paid in full, non-refundable, at least 60 days before arrival. On 6 October 2026 Google showed $804 for 2 on the nights of 24, 30 and 31 December.

Can you play golf?

The website describes no course or golf package: it lists a multi-purpose court, table tennis, the gym and watersports. In May 2026 a guest wrote that they played several games of tennis on the island.

Source 1 · Source 2

When is it open, and when is the best season?

The offers run all year and the website announces no closure. The terms set the festive season, 24 December to 9 January, and a high and a low season without giving their dates. Manta season is October to November. Between May and August guests write of changeable weather and some storms; in a review from August 2019, wind had cancelled a sandbank trip.

How much does a night cost?

Google Hotels, read on 6 October 2026, for 2 adults and one night: $797 on 18 October 2026, $772 on 2 November, $708 on 16 November and 1 December, $804 on 24 and 31 December, and $1,013 on 28 January 2027, taxes and fees included, as Google shows them for the Maldives. There were no prices for the nights of 7 to 17 October 2026. The calendar does not say which villa or which board, nor whether the seaplane is included.

The rates published on the official website, by contrast, are quoted before a 10% service charge, 17% T-GST and a Green Tax of $12 per person per night.
